((Haha, INDEED. And wow. I felt pretty much the same way... I had nothing to do... but I really shouldn't be complaining. I'm sure I'll have plenty to do by next week... wait. I already have plenty to do this week. Super.
Bleeeeeeeeeh. YAY NEW CELL PHONE. And I SEE YOU DON'T WANT MY NUMBER ANYMORE. SINCE WE CALL EACH OTHER ALL THE TIME. I still have you as "Jiffy" and it confuses people.... haha, except the friend of mine who has me as "Alex-darling" in her phone.))
"Like it?!" Talen exclaimed. "I LOVE it. Like a fat kid loves CAKE." He was still staring at it in half awe half admiration. "It's... GORGEOUS. Like a really curvy dark skinned, dark haired babe." He laughed and accepted his glass of water, still shaking his head at the gift he had received. "You're something else, Abel."
Leah giggled, chin resting in her open palms. "It is pretty." She remarked and then looked a little surprised at the wine Abel pushed towards her. Her smile was fainter, but she accepted it, eyes down. "Thanks..." She glanced up. "I DO love white wine." The corners of her smile twitched a little, but never reached her eyes.
However, she became far more excited at Abel's suggestion. "Yes! Play it! I've never heard you! Your sister only tells me how great you are only all the TIME!" She was smiling broadly, gently flushed in the face.
"You should come to my SHOWS." Talen said playfully. "You know... the ones in the middle of the night at empty bars." He laughed a little, but picked up the guitar. He leaned against the table and began plucking at the strings to tune them. "Oh man... we'll see... I'm kinda intimidated. It's almost too good for me." He admitted. He looked up from under his fringe of hair. "What you want to hear?" He winced a little at a sour note and adjusted the strings some more.
Leah looked thoughtful. "Can you play anything?"
"Anything."
She smiled and steepled her fingers. "Um..." She bit her bottom lip and her forehead puckered. "Play something beautiful!" She finally decided.
Talen laughed. "Don't get too specific there, Leah."
She bit her lip and pulled at the ends of her hair. "I don't want to stifle your artistic spirit!"
He laughed again and finished the final adjustments to the old instrument. He seemed to think briefly and then nodded. "Alright. You got it, Leah." And he played something he thought was beautiful, unsure at first.
"Damn." He laughed, readjusting his fingers on the frat. "Guys all making me nervous." And he started up again and flowed through it. Good and slow, something gentle and soothing. He kept his eyes on his fingers, his mind focused on the notes of the song.
When he'd been young he'd been good, but now it was obvious he was even better. There was more of a confidence there, a prowess with experience, and he looked exactly like himself. Leah couldn't think of any other way to explain it. He just looked right playing that guitar, and that guitar in particular. When he finished he exhaled, grinning up at them.
"Ta dah." He announced with a gesture of his hand. "And that's got a NICE sound... even for these ol' strings."
((LALALA! He liiiikes that guuuuitar. Maybe he'll marry it.))
David watched Gabriel closely, dark eyes large and serious. He expected an answer, and knew if any adult would give him the honest truth Gabriel always would. That's what he liked about him besides being able to ride him like riding on a mountain. He treated him like a kid and a grown up and in David's heart and mind he believed he was both.
At his answer David looked sad. He didn't understand why he felt sad. "I don't want my love to hurt people." He said, brows furrowed. "Gabe... your love doesn't hurt me." He stuck his fists in the water and frowned. He didn't know how to deal with this new feeling, but he loved that Gabe loved his mother. That was something he didn't know what to do with either.
He sat very seriously there in the tub until Gabriel spoke again. He pulled his eyes up reluctantly and then giggled. He giggled more and turned that giggle into a laugh as Freddy Prince Jr. began chomping on his submarine. "NO! NOOOO!" He howled, laughing happily. "You caaan't!" He squealed with delight and then looked up at Gabriel again grinning.
"I love you." He said for good measure, with a serious nod. "I wanted to remind you. Because you are the best at playing dinosaurs AND you remember their names." And he put a kiss on his submarine and put that kiss on Freddy. He smiled again.
((hahaha, i enjoy them.))

((Hahahahahaha. Well if you want to give me your number again, by all MEANS. I pretty much just asked people that I know I call and text a lot. Or at least more than people who I never do.
Yeah and I'll have tons of stuff to do next week...when school starts and with two studio classes...all at night for three hours. WHY? 5:30 to 8:20. Those were the ONLY times available when I was signing up! It was utter nonsense!!! Well...they have one at 7:00 am...but I knew I am never able to wake up that early...so yeah. I didn't want to end up skipping tons like my class last semester that was early. Haha. Uh. But I still got a B in that class. SO SCREW THAT.
Wheee. I still need to find a name for my phone...I would name him Abel, since I named my laptop Gabriel. But it's black and red...that's not an Abel. Maybe I should name him Caine. Haha. Or I can just find a really cool sounding evil name for him. Has to be handsome as well though. Cause he's a handsome phone.))
Abel laughed a little when Leah suggested something "beautiful". He nodded in agreement with her suggestion. "Just play something. Anything really. Something you like." He put down his glass and took off his jacket, getting a little warm. As he watched Talen readjust the strings and his fingers, he momentarily saw his father, short messy blonde hair, and slightly tanned skin, callused fingers, and crooked glasses.
It was only when Talen began to play did the image disappear and he blinked, focusing back on Talen. The song was indeed beautiful. He looked so at ease, so comfortable, it almost made Abel jealous. His dad had always been the same. Music had been the only thing that made him smile. Abel took another drink when Talen finished.
"That was really nice." He said, smiling weakly. "You've gotten even better since the last time I heard you play. My father would have been really proud if he saw the guitar in your hands." He said while he stood up. Walking back over to the stove he adjusted the heat and stirred the food around.
As if on cue there was a commotion outside and the door opened. Immediately, Zeus ran to the kitchen and over to Abel, jumping up on the angel and wagging his tail, tongue hanging out of his mouth.
Abel jumped a bit and then laughed, hand rubbing the dog's head and scratching behind his ears. "Hey boy." He said and pressed his head against the dog. Zeus licked Abel's face and got off him, sniffing around, then heading over to the other dogs. A few minutes later, Mei came into the kitchen. Her shirt was coming off one shoulder and her hair was messy.
"Oh!" She exclaimed and looked around at the three. "Oh MAN. THAT. SMELLS." She paused and closed her eyes, one hand raised in thought. "FANTASTIC." She decided and kicked off her shoes before walking to Abel and leaning against him, examining the pots and pans. "Mmmmmmm. MMMMMMM. You're a blessing. You really are Abel." She said.
Abel was watching her critically, his face twisted in a slightly disgusted look. "You smell awful. Like beer and cigarettes." He said. Mei laughed and patted Abel's shoulder. "Are you okay?" Mei only shrugged and walked over to the table. She looked at the guitar, brows raising.
"Wow. What a beautiful thing. It's pretty." Her head tilted towards Talen and she put a hand to his shoulder. "I meant you." She kissed his cheek and fell into a chair. "Woof. What a long day. It really wasn't even that LONG. It just FELT long. The world is spinning a little faster." She mentioned on the side. "Abel..."
"Go to the bathroom." He said in a tight voice. He was still watching her with digust. "Yanmei." He said when she didn't move. Mei's smile faded and she put a hand towards her face. Abel quickly moved towards her, grabbed her arm and pulled her off the chair. She stumbled and he steadied her. "Come here." He pushed her gently towards the bathroom and the two disappeared inside. A moment after the sound of wrenching came from the room. Followed by a groan.
((Oh Mei. I figured she'd be the type to get wasted after a tough day. Hahaha...ahhhh. Abel doesn't like it too much.))
Gabriel smirked at David. "Yessss. YES. I can! Dinosaurs are so much bigger and badder than submarines." He said and continued to have the toy chomp at the submarine. He pulled Freddy up. "I think he's full now. Eating a submarine can fill you up pretty fast, huh Freddy?" He made the dinosaur nod and then fall back into the tub as if from exhaustion.
His eyes went back to David. "Ah. Well thank you. That's an honor. It just comes with being awesome. If you're awesome like me you're pretty much REQUIRED to be good at playing dinosaurs." He winked and grabbed a washcloth, sudsing it up with some soap. "Let's get you clean before your mom comes up to check on us. Let's show her how responsible we are. Otherwise...she might punch me again. And that hurts." He rubbed his shoulder with mock pain. "Then we can show her how awesome I am at playing dinosaur."
((Hahaha. Don't let that go to your head Gabe.))

((IMMA POST TO THIS. AW YEAH... and ew... your studio times suck worse than MINE. We have 8-12... or 2-6. YOURS. SUCKS... By like an hour, but whatever. I ended up taking a morning studio. FFFFF. I was so exhausted today. GEESH.
AND MAYBE I DON'T WANNA GIVE YOU MY NUMBER NOW. BECAUSE.... I don't see why you'd use it unless I come visit you again. EVENTUALLY. It'll be good.
Also... you should name your phone something SOPHISTICATED. LIIIKE.... Achilles! D:<... hahaha, I dunno. He's not sophisticated though. Actually... Achilles is an a*****e.))
Talen made a sort of modest noise, putting the guitar gently away. "Thanks." He said, rubbing at the back of his neck, casting his friend a long glance. "I mean... that means a lot." He laughed maybe uncomfortably. "It's what I love." He added and shrugged as if that's all he really needed to say.
"I can tell." Leah piped in, smiling and wringing her hands together. "It was beautiful... JUST the right song." She decided. "I'll NEED to go to one of your shows some night."
Talen laughed again, seemingly abashed by the praise. He coughed, clearing his throat. He might have attempted to change the subject, but it seemed he wouldn't need to. It was at this point that it seemed Mei had returned.
"She's got good timing." Leah remarked, watching the dogs head for the door.
"Always has." Talen put in, arms crossed over his chest. He was smiling faintly. However, at her appearance he frowned a little, probably more concerned than critical being that was his nature towards her. It happened to any man who cared enough for a woman.
When she moved over to him he half caught her by the arm to steady her. He grinned seemingly gently as he could at her sloppy kiss to his face. "Pretty is not usually the word, but I'll take it." He helped her fall into her chair, dark eyes now concerned.
Leah bit her lips. "Mei..." She began, but it was at this point that Abel vanished her to the bathroom. At the sounds of her retching she was looking at Talen, but he was looking down the hall she'd gone, face clouded. "Does she do this-"
Talen's eyes flickered to her. "Usually not this bad."
"Oh." Leah said quietly, eyes going down the hall again. She jumped a little as Talen moved from the kitchen and down the hall himself. His knock on the bathroom door carried around the housel and he leaned just beside the door frame.
"She alright?" He wanted to know.
((hahaha, I guess Talen would know something about it... maybe not to the point at WHICH SHE DOES IT, but there you have it...!))
David giggled happily again and plunged his submarine at the dinosaur now sunk beneath the layer of bubbles that surrounded him. "You can't EAT a submarine! 'Cept when it's a sandwich." He announced as he let himself get scrubbed.
"I guess you're pretty awesome." David allowed. "But only sometimes." He wriggled a bit away from him and then sunk down in the bubbles. "MOM." He said sounding a shade offended.
Alice smiled from the bathroom door. "You two about done in here?" She wanted to know. "Freddy Prince Jr. is drowning."
"MOOOM!" David cried again, arms crossed over his chest. "I JUST got IN!"
"You didn't even WANT to be in there before!"
David sulked and looked up at Gabriel. "I guess I hafta go to bed now, huh?"
Alice laughed. "Only you could get him to love a bath." Moving further into the bathroom she helped finish clean him up and then gingerly lifted him out in a bundle of soft towels. David already looked sleepy there in her arms and laid against her gently, eyes nearly closed. She smiled as he got his sleepy form dry and into his favorite pajamas, one arm and leg at a time. When she'd finished he clung to her, face buried in the curve of her neck.
"Help me tuck him in." She said over her shoulder, one of her hands to his damp head and the led the way to his cluttered room. Her well practiced feet knew the safest and clearest path to his bed.

((They do suck. We'll see how it ends up.
And I might end up naming him Matthias. Haha. I like that name.))
When Talen came to the door, Abel looked up and then back at Mei who was on the floor, head tilted towards the toilet. Abel was leaning over her, holding her hair back. He winced when Mei leaned closer and vomited again. He wasn't new to experiencing someone drunk, but it still disgusted him all the same.
"Yeah. She'll be okay." He said dryly and leaned back when Mei lifted her head from the toilet, rubbing a hand over her mouth. Her dark gold eyes looked at Talen and she frowned.
"I'm sick." She said simply and closed her eyes, putting a hand to her forehead. After a few minutes she started to push herself up. Abel grabbed onto one of her arms, making sure she didn't stumble or fall. "I'm alright. I'm better. Got it all out." She smiled but it didn't change the face on Abel. He grimaced some more and shook his head.
"You should go to bed." He took a step back and she turned on the sink and splashed her face with cold water. She nodded slowly and looked at him. He looked away as if giving her the cold shoulder. Finally she turned and moved to Talen.
"I guess you won't be joining me, huh?" She leaned against him, draping an arm over his shoulder. "I wish you would..." Her head tilted up at him, smiling, before she got off of him and wandered to her room.
Abel let out a deep breath, flushed the toilet, and walked out. "Dinner should be ready in a few minutes." He commented before heading towards the kitchen again. He looked to Leah and smiled apologetically. "Sorry about this...she should be okay though." He said as he opened up the oven and pulled out the roast.
((Haha. Oh my...or should I say...OH MEI. AHAHAHAHA. HAAAA. Yeah. I am so amazing!))
Gabriel leaned towards David as he sunk beneath the bubbles. "Dinosaurs can eat ANYTHING. Even you." He was about to grab the boy and demonstrate how a dinosaur might eat a young boy until said young boy cried out that someone was watching them, followed by his mom's voice from behind them.
Gabriel pulled back and looked over his shoulder at Alice, smiling. "He's drowning because he ate Ringo." He put a hand to his head and looked back at David, giving a shrug. "I told ya, kid." He moved to the side as Alice came in further and finished cleaning her son. Gabriel sat on the side, making some dinosaur noises with Freddy and dancing him along the tub, saying that he needed to work off the calories.
As Alice pulled David out of the tub and into the towels, Gabriel laughed. "Yeah, you're right. I can get anyone to love anything really. Especially when I'm awesome at playing dinosaurs, right Dave?" He winked at the boy who looked awfully tired, clinging to his mom. He nodded slowly as Alice moved from the bathroom. "Alright." He unplugged the tub and let the water drain. Picking up the toys, he followed Alice into David's room and set the toys in their rightful places.
"I think he's tuckered out." He stood at the foot of the bed, watching Alice put David into it. "I can do that to people." He said jokingly and went to Alice's side, arms folded over his stomach. "Any stories tonight? I kind of want to hear one. Your stories are always the best...after Abel's. He's got story telling down to a beat." He said to Alice.
((Wheeee. Story time!))

((I'MMA POST. POOOST... And Matthias is a pretty excellent name. No lie.))
"Good." Talen said, tilting his head down at her. "Looks like you got it under control." His mouth tilted up and twitched back down when Mei spoke. "I can see that." He remarked about her sick statement.
He moved forward a bit as she stood unable to keep the concern off his face, but stopped short as she bent to wash her face. He looked to Abel at his rather cool attitude and crossed his arms, but uncrossed them as Mei leaned into him, arm over one of his shoulders. He moved her hair away from his face. "You're a wreck." He said of her, but not unkindly.
"I'll make sure she makes it into her bed." He said to Abel, following quickly after her to steady her. "I'll be right back out." He promised. "Don't EAT without me!" He called from her room.
Leah was exactly where they had left her, sitting idly in her chair. She was looking around, rubbing self consciously at her arms. She smiled when Abel returned and she shrugged a little.
"It's alright." She said politely. "And I'm glad. I didn't know... she uh..." She seemed to flush. "I mean, it's not my place to really talk about it. I just didn't... she doesn't have a problem does she?" She seemed more embarrassed then. "That is to say! She doesn't SEEM like she would... I..." She put her hands to her mouth and instead looked at the roast Abel had pulled out of the oven. "That looks delicious." She said instead.
((mroooooow!))
Alice tucked her son in carefully. He was limp with exhaustion and she had to work to slide all his limbs beneath his blanket. She laughed a little. "You really DID tucker out my little man." She pat him and carefully smoothed his damp hair from his forehead and then smiled. "What a monster." She said of Gabriel, standing back.
"He's the coolest monster." David murmured and curled up, hands gripping for something. Alice stooped onto the carpet and placed a stuffed animal into his hands. Smiling he pulled it to his chest and looked up at both of them. "And STORY." he demanded.
Alice looked up at Gabriel. "Geesh, Gabe. Don't flatter me so much. You putting me under some serious pressure. If I can't preform... I don't want to let you down, Davy."
David smiled and just waited.
"Alright." She said, sitting on the edge of his bed and inviting Gabriel to do the same. "You gotta stick around. For moral support." She seemed to think. "It'd be better if Abel WAS here." She remarked. "But I'm gonna give it a go, kiddo."
"You're stories are always good." He said.
Alice smiled gently and breathing out she told a gentle and slow story about nights when the moon was close enough to jump to. David immediately took to this idea and as she told it on and on, David would add things, invent the idea of riding shooting stars and who he would take there. By the end he was so convinced it was true he said in a sleepy voice who he would take there.
"A good story?" Alive wanted to know.
David nodded, eyelids heavy.
"Good." She said, sounding relieved and bending over he son she kissed him on the forehead. "Only the good stories for you, partner. I love you, buddy." David might have murmured an 'I love you' in return under his breath, eyes closed. Alice smiled up at Gabriel and gestured he could do his share of tucking him as well. She stood to give him room.

Abel was starting to form the potato dumplings, smashing the boiled potatoes. As Alice spoke, he looked over at her and then back at the job at hand. "It's okay. She only has a problem when she wants to have it. It's not like she's an alcoholic. She can easily refuse. She'd just rather get drunk after a tough job than actually handle it rationally." He said and then smiled a bit at her comment.
"Thanks..." He finished making the dumplings and began to cut the meat into slices. "I hope it tastes as good as it looks." He replied and started to put the food onto the plate. "After dinner...if you want...I can walk you home. It's dark and all..." He paused and looked back to her. "Or, if you wanted, I'm sure Mei wouldn't mind you staying over, if you don't want to have to walk home."
Mei stumbled into her room, kicking aside some clothes. She crawled onto her bed and fell face first into the pillows. Groaning she rolled onto her side and looked to the door to see Talen coming. She scratched her head, messing up her long hair even more and kicked at the covers. The little reasoning left in her told her to avoid Talen at all costs. She glanced over again briefly, made a noise and shoved herself under the comforter, burying herself into the bed.
((Hahaha. She's like a little kid.))
Gabriel sat down next to Alice and positioned himself so that he could watch both David and Alice. He found himself smiling through the story, glancing over at David who was still tired, but actively intervening into the story and making it his own and adding what he wanted.
At the end of the story, Gabriel nodded in sync with David and then watched him slowly start to fall asleep. His dark blue eyes shifted when Alice stood up. He moved over slightly and put a hand on top of David's forehead. "Good Night, kid. We should do this more often, male bounding." He chuckled and gently pat the boy's head. "Be good for your mom until I see you again, okay? If you cause any trouble, I'll...I'll do something." He nodded, trying to be serious, but ended up smiling and and lifting his hand.
"I'll be looking out for you. I promise." He finished and stood up. "Sweet Dreams." Straightening out his shirt he took a step back from the bed and started towards the door, knowing Alice would soon be coming out as well.

((I'M GONNA POST. WOOOYEAH.))
"Good." She said of Mei, looking relieved. "I wouldn't want to see Talen having to deal with something like that." She remarked. "I heard he's already had it kinda rough... and you know, it'd be nice for him to have a break, right?" She smiled, looking at her fingers.
Leah shook her head. "Don't even bother trying to be modest." She said at his remark of his own food. "Of course it's going to taste good. I've decided already." And she fidgeted with her hands and then seemed to flush at his offer. "You don't have to do that." She said quickly. "I can walk myself." She seemed to go pinker at the offer to stay. "I wouldn't want to be any trouble. It's alright. I don't live TOO far... and I mean... it's alright. I can really make it own my own." She chewed on her lips and avoided his eyes.
Talen watched with a sort of amused expression as Mei groaned and retreated beneath her blanket. He rubbed at the back of his neck, slowly shaking his head. He cast his eyes back once over his shoulder and made his way to her bed, kneeled by the edge and raised the cover to peer underneath at her.
"Long day?" He said, smiling. He turned back the blankets enough to reveal her face. "You know, I hear bacon cures hangovers. Maybe I'll make you some tomorrow." He tilted his head, smile turning down a little. "Man, at least next time if you're going to get s**t faced, take me with you." He said of her. "You can laugh at me if you want, but I still gotta worry about you. Don't ask me why, but I gotta." He quirked his mouth. "Must be 'cause I like you or something weird like that."
((TRUE FACTS. Bacon does cure hangovers. I have no idea WHY, but it does. *laughs*))
David grinned sleepily at Gabriel's goodnight. "Okay." His voice was hardly a whisper now and he quietly drifted off, curling up tight in his blankets and turning over.
Alice wore a content smile on her face as Gabriel stood from the bed, and watched her son a few more moments before following the angel out of his room. She closed the door carefully behind her and slowly turned back to Gabriel, pushing her hair from her face.
"Thanks." She said and then lowered her eyes for a moment. "I guess I'll see you out the door, huh?" Alice smiled and started down the stairs, but paused and looked back. She seemed to be considering him, her dark eyes searching his face. "Did you mean what you told David?" She asked of him suddenly. She had her hands tight on the railing.
((hahaha, which thing, Alice... WHICH THING?))

((Haha. I am finished unpacking all my things and am finally back at the dorm! Uh. It feels nice not having to worry about packing and stuff...now classes tomorrow is a whole OTHER thing. Ugh. D smile )
When Leah spoke of Talen he quickly looked up and over at her. "What?" He asked but she went on. His brows furrowed and he looked back at his food. Her comment had caught her off guard. He realized he had never asked Talen about his past. He had never asked what happened to his parents. Maybe it was because he knew he wouldn't want someone asking him the same question. But what kind of friend did that make him if he didn't even try asking? He swallowed heavily, wondering what "rough" kind of stuff Talen had to deal with. It was then that he made the decision that he'd ask the next time they were alone together. He didn't care if Talen refused to answer, he'd ask anyways, and if Talen asked him back, so be it, at least he'd be able to know more about Talen than he did already.
He was so deep in thought that he almost didn't hear anything Leah had said. He looked up as her voice made way back to his ears. He smiled over at her and shook his head. "Please. The least you can do is let me walk you home, after helping me shop, and you know...everything else you did for me today." He nodded. "It's dangerous walking alone at night, especially for a woman. Not that...well..." He paused and looked back at the plates, dishing out graving onto the meat. "You know. I'd feel better if I saw you home, that's all." He picked up two plates and walked over to the table.
Mei wrinkled up her nose when Talen pulled some of the blanket away from her. She hid half her face into the pillow but kept one eye in view, and looking at him. At his question, she nodded slowly and groaned. After he finished talked she moved her face away from the pillow and licked her lips. "No. I don't ever want you to come with me when I...uhhhh...this. You...I'm disgusting. You shouldn't have to see this." She rubbed her face roughly and laid her head back into the pillow. "I don't know why I do it. It makes me feel better for a couple hours...then I vomit and it's all downhill." She curled her knees up to her chest and turned slightly. She put a hand up to his face and sighed.
"Go eat dinner. Abel would feel bad if it got cold before you ate it. You know how he is. So sensitive." She smiled strangely and closed her eyes.
((Haha. Yeup. Man. Abel and Talen never talk about ANYTHING. Hahaha. What GUYS.))
Gabriel walked into the hallway and turned around as Alice came out. He gave a shrug. "Don't mention it. I'd do anything for that kid. He's something else." He then smiled back at her and followed her to the stairs. "Yeah. I should get going. I gotta give Abel back his clothes anyways." He stopped at the top of the stairs when she looked back at him. He watched her, smile fading at her question. He looked at her hands when they tightened and moved back to her face.
"What? That I'd do something if he misbehaved?" He laughed a little and shook his head. "I don't think he'd misbehave. So no need to worry." He paused and then put a hand to the back of his head. "Oh...you probably mean the looking out for him thing right?" He sighed softly and put his hands into his pockets. "I meant everything. I wouldn't lie to that boy. If anything ever happened to him I'd personally come over and do something about it. That's just how I am. Kids are my thing I guess. That used to be my job, watching them I guess. For a long time, until they gave me something else to do." He paused again and took a step down the stairs.
"Is something wrong Alice? There is. You don't have to hide it, I can see it. Just tell me what you want. I've heard it all. Nothing catches me off guard, trust me."

((Buuuh... packing and unpacking things is sooo... buuuuuh... And I hope your classes are going well so far... oh man. First week of classes is relatively nice... usually. This quarter everyone was all: LET'S GET STARTED RIGHT AWAY.
The shock was not a nice one... but NOW I think I'm ready... phew.))
Leah seemed ready to refuse him further, perhaps come up with reasons why it just wasn't worth his time. She'd tell him she had mace and had taken defense classes. She wanted to tell him she was perfectly capable of taking care of herself, however she knew herself better than that. Truth was she normally would have jumped on the offer right away, it was only because of what had occurred earlier that she tried to push him away.
It was all a bit stupid now that she thought about it. She just didn't want to both him, she supposed.
"Alright." She said hesitantly after a moment. She wasn't a complete fool. It was dark, and she was small. Some women might have had the confidence to walk home at such a late hour and have no harm come to them, but Leah, no matter how hard she wished it was different, was not one of these women. "If it'll make you feel better, I guess it's alright." She seemed embarrassed and once more avoided his eyes. "Thank you." She added quietly and pulled her plate towards her. "I guess we just have to wait on Talen then." And nodding she waited.
Talen watched her with anything but a look of disgust. It was how he always looked at her, at least when no one else was around to make him feel embarrassed about it. Being this way made him feel awkward around other people, but now it was alright. When she put a hand to his face he put one of his hands over it.
"Not disgusting." He said, grinning. "Stupid, but not disgusting. It's alright though... I like my girls good and stupid." He nodded once and kissed her on the inside of her hand. "Sweet dreams, Vomit Queen." He said affectionately and left her beneath her blankets. "I don't wanna hurt Abel's feelings."
When he joined Abel and Leah again in the kitchen Leah looked relieved. "Good... I don't know how much longer I really could have waited." She laughed.
"Smells kind of amazing." Talen agreed and quickly sat down. "Where's my plate? I only see two here, Abel."
((LALALA. Nexxtttt... and ahhaah, yeah. Talen and Abel are SUCH MENZ. MENZ WHO DON'T TALK ABOUT FEELINGS.))
Alice sort of smiled at his first remark, her tension leaving briefly and she shook her head. "He's a great kid. The best." She said and then hugged herself tightly. She nodded slowly as he continued, perhaps seeming more at ease, but still she hugged herself tightly. She glanced up when he took another step down the stairs. At his words what she was thinking merely spilled from her mouth.
"Last time Abel was here people got hurt." She said suddenly. "I love Abel. I will always love Abel, and I'm glad he's back... but it's different now." She was looking past Gabriel and to her son's room. "I don't know quite what all is going on with you on your side, but I've been feeling really worried for David... like it's not safe." She looked up at Gabriel, her eyes over bright. She never cried. "Maybe it's just me being a mom now or something." She laughed, feeling silly. "But something is going on... and I don't feel like David is safe."
Alice tentatively reached out with a hand to take one of Gabriel's. "I want you around more." She frowned and wiped at her face. "I just don't know how to explain that to James." She said softly.
((PLOT LIKE ACTIVITY. How strange. I needa bring James home eventually and kick that BLACK MAN OUTTA DA HOUSE. BEING ALL SUSPICIOUS.))

((Haha. Yeah. My first class was fine. The teacher is awesome. Haha. She looks butch, but she's hilarious. So I think I'm gonna like it. Plus it's sociology, and I like that kinda stuff. Next I have to go to English...ugh. It's not fun English either. It's all like research papers and stuff. Ew.))
Abel smiled a little when she finally agreed. "Thanks." He said and sat down. He rubbed his forehead and glanced into the hallway, wondering what Talen was telling Mei. Usually he might have cared more to go and check on her, make sure she was okay. But there was something about drunks that turned him off completely. He couldn't handle it. He had to deal with it all his life, there was no reason he should after his life.
Abel looked up again when he heard Talen coming and gave him the same smile as before. "Oh..." He looked down at the two plates and shook his head. "I'm not hungry anymore." He said plainly and leaned back, grabbing his wine and then pushing it away. "Please eat though. I don't want too much leftovers...although I'm saving some for Mei so she has something of substance to eat tomorrow. Lunch or Dinner maybe..."
After a few minutes he stood up and went back into the kitchen. He didn't feel so hot about the wine anymore. Instead he wanted water. Something to wash the alcohol taste out. After Mei came home, it didn't taste good anymore. Pouring the wine down the sink he took an empty glass and filled it with water. "Ummm." He turned around and moved back to the table. "So...I told Leah I was going to walk her home. You can come if you want or you can stay here. I wouldn't worry about Mei though." He slipped back into the chair and stared down at the water.
((Mei would turn me off too. Haha. No more wine for me! She's disgusting! Hahaha. Wheeee. I am already tired..and I only had to wake up at 10:30 today. Oh god. Haha. I'm such a night person.))
Gabriel listened to her patiently. His eyes expressed concern as her face seemed to scrunch up from holding back tears. He frowned and nodded a little. "Of course you feel that way. That's your son. Any mom would be worried for his safety after what happened last time with Talen and Abel. It's true. Abel's got a thing for attracting drama. Not like he wants it, it just comes to him." His eyes shifted down when Alice grabbed his hand. He wrapped his long fingers around hers and he looked back up when she wiped the tears from her cheeks.
"I know...it's alright. You have a good reason." He studied her carefully. "I'm going to be close by. I don't want to leave Mei and Abel to their own devices. As close as those two are, they make a less than appealing team." He smiled a little. "Try not to worry too much, okay? Don't want you blood pressure to get high, right? Anyways, if you ever need me I'm a call away, my cell phone is always with me, and you have my number, and you have Mei's. She cares the world for you guys too. So whenever I can't get there, she can. And vice-verse." He paused and carefully pulled Alice towards him. He wrapped his arms around her.
"Just remember, ANY time you feel like you need me there or any time you just want me there, let me know. I don't care if its just motherly instincts kicking in, because those are usually based on something." He then pulled back a little and smiled reassuringly down at her. "Got that?" He put a hand to her head and finally moved away.
"You wanna help me put all these clothes into the car? They got so much..."
((Man...I gotta EAT something!))

((Lame english classes are LAME. They make me wanna cry and die. Who wants to write lame shiznit that no one cares about? NOBODY. Okay... fastest post ever. GO. NOW.))
Talen shook his head. "No wonder you could fit in that swing."
Leah gave an unexpected laugh and snorted into her forkful of food. She covered her mouth and apologized around what food had managed to get to her mouth. Talen gave a peal of laughter.
"You're an ANIMAL, Leah." He said of her, grinning good naturedly. He then looked back to Abel. "We need to make bacon tomorrow." He put in as he dug into his own meal and then paused. He shut his eyes chewed slowly and nodded. When he had swallowed he smiled. "Aw yeah." He said.
"It's good." Leah said, chewing her own food slowly. There was a pleased and content smile on her face that only a hot home cooked meal could bring.
Talen looked up, half way through his meal. "Tonight? She doesn't want to stay?"
"I shouldn't." She said quickly. "And I mean... I have work tomorrow. I'll need to change and you know... shower." She looked embarrassed. She put some more food in her mouth to distract herself.
"Alright... I mean. You can..." He shrugged, polishing off the rest of the food in a few forkfuls. "Never mind. If you want me to, Abel, I will... but I don't wanna be that third wheel." He grinned at Leah again.
She frowned at him and turned quietly pink. "You won't be." She assured him.
Talen frowned and she avoided his eyes. Standing he took his plate to the sink. "I'd eat more... but it's already so late. How's your food coming, Leah?"
She stared at her plate still mostly full. "Uh." She attempted to hurry herself and Talen laughed.
"Woah. Okay. No need for that. Take your time." Talen looked back at Abel. "You sure you want me to come? I don't mind hanging out here. I mean... I'll miss you with ALL my heart." He put his hands to his chest. "Every moment without you does kill me a little inside... but I think I could bear the separation."
((OKAY. PART TWO.))
Alice nodded as Gabriel responded in his even and reasonable tone. She laughed a little, a trembling laugh that made her put her hand over her mouth. "I know... I know Abel doesn't mean it." She steadied at his grip on her fingers and she seemed to calm down.
She found herself completely talked down when he told her of all that was available to her. She wasn't alone. That's what was important. She wasn't alone. She still had her sinking feeling, that instinct women come by when they finally have children of their own to worry about and they suddenly understand their own mothers.
She was nodding at Gabriel slowly, her eyes turned up. Him being there was reassurance enough. She seemed a little startled by his embrace, but she was grateful for it. She leaned into him and took that offered comfort even though she knew she knew better than that.
She was the first to pull away. She was nodding her head and wiping at her eyes. There was places in her hair where tears had fallen and made damp, but otherwise she was her old self. Alice smiled just slightly and shook her head.
"Thanks." She said, voice still slightly wet. "I... Thank you." She touched his forearm as he moved away. "And I can help." She said, smiling more easily now and moving after him, but she stopped short on the stairs. James was standing at the bottom of them, eyebrows raised.
"I'll help him." He said, smile saying one thing and his eyes another.
Alice clasped her hands and nodding silently, her mouth a thin line, she moved away upstairs. "Goodnight, Gabriel." She said over her shoulder."
((hahahaha, THERE HE BE.))

((Haha for REALS. Man. Whatever. I'll survive I think.))
Abel chuckled a little at Talen's comment and shook his head. "Don't make fun of my scrawniness." He said back to his friend, drinking some water afterward. He sat down and watched as they ate his food. He smiled as they seemed to enjoy it. "Thanks. German food is my favorite." He nodded a little and looked over at Leah when Talen asked if she didn't want to stay.
"I told her she could..." He began but Leah explained herself. He then turned his eyes back to Talen. "Of course I want you to come!" He proclaimed, turning around in his chair as Talen went into the kitchen. "You aren't the third wheel. There aren't any wheels." He paused and seemed to realize how strange that sounded. "Uh...well anyways. You don't have to if you want to stay. It's fine." He turned back around and tilted his head back, watching the ceiling.
A few minutes later he was up again and disappearing into the guest room. He came out with some paper and a pen. Leaning over the table he wrote something down. Then he handed it to Leah with a smile. On the piece of paper was his name and then a telephone number underneath. The writing was nearly calligraphic in its neatness and cursive. "I know I'd forget if I didn't do it now. But it's my phone number. To be honest, I usually don't pick up...I don't like cell phones that much, they're weird. But if you call, I'll try to handle it." He put the pen down.
"Uh...cause you know...we should do something again. Today was fun." He sat down and looked at her again. "And you're a good person." He said, as if he figured he had to add that.
((Hahaha. How slick.))
Gabriel smiled at Alice. "Really, don't mention it. It's what I do. What else am I good for? Reaching things on the top shelf...that's about it." He said with his serious face. He looked to the bottom of the stairs where James was sitting and he raised a hand. "Hey, James." He turned his head when Alice moved up the stairs. "Right..." He began and watched Alice walk away. "Good Night!" He called back and then walked the rest of the way downstiars.
"There's not many bags, they're all clothes too, so not too heavy." He said calmly and started to pick some of them up. When he got all he could carry, which was almost all of them, he took a couple steps to the side so that James could get the rest. "Mei and Leah took Abel shopping I guess. They went a little overboard. But they're girls." He said, easing the silence with the ease of confidence he always had. "So, James, how's work? Not wearing you down yet is it? I hear it's a pretty tough job. But I gotta say, it's a really amazing one, pretty rewarding." He smiled and headed towards the door.
((Hahaha. He acts like they're good buddies.))

((MAAAAN. Early classsses are eeeaaaarly. I'm wore out. *laughs* And oh man. When boys are slick like Abel... Just knocks me right off my feet. RIGHT. OFF. MY FEET.))
Talen laughed out loud when Abel turned himself completely around in his chair to address him and express just how much he did want him to come. "Alright, alright! I can see that this would really do a number on you if I didn't come... so. I guess I'm just a big softie when it comes to you. I'll tag along." He grinned.
Leah smiled and went about finishing the rest of her meal. They both looked up when Abel stood and vanished into the guest room. They exchanged a brief look and then shrugged. When he returned Talen tilted his head and seemed to want to ask just what it was he was doing, but then he smiled instead, giving Abel a sly expression. Leah blinked at him when whatever it was he wrote down was handed to her.
"Uh." She said quietly, suddenly shy. Even at his rather modest and nonchalant explanation of it she couldn't quite meet his eyes. She had a blush that was creeping up into her ears. "Okay." Was all she could really manage. "Thanks." She looked at him startled at what sounded to her what Talen was sure Abel wasn't aware he'd offered, but a request of what could only be called a date. She shook her head, deciding not to think too much into that.
"O-okay." She said, smiling more broadly.
Talen mock rolled his eyes. "If you kids are done flirting."
Leah stood quickly from her chair the perfect picture of embarrassment. "I'll get my coat." She said quickly and vanished down a hall. Her coat was on the back of her chair.
Talen laughed. "You sure do have quite an effect on her." He said, grabbing her coat and following her to the front door.
((hhahahahahaha, he's soooo awkward.))
James was watching Gabriel with that same expression on his face as he watched him watch his wife walk away. He sighed, arms crossing over his chest and rubbed with one hand at his forehead where premature creases already folded. When Gabriel spoke up again he uncrossed his arms, keeping face. There was an obvious tension, and he did little to hide that tension, but he said nothing of what he'd seen.
"Alright." He said and moved with him to pick up what clothes Gabriel had left behind. Somehow that bothered James, as if by picking up most of the clothes he was trying to demonstrate something to him, show him up. Gabriel was larger than he was, taller and more muscular. It was no argument that he was more attractive either. His smile grew tighter, but he let an amused laugh escape him, an obviously forced sound at his remark about all the clothes.
"He'll be warm this winter." He said and then jerked his light eyes into Gabriel. "Work's fine." He said, his smile was losing face. "You obviously love my job more than I do. Do you go to a lot of married women's houses who have husband's with full time jobs or is it just mine?" He laughed as if this was hilarious, in that same tone of voice as if he and Gabriel were just the best of friends. They both knew they weren't.
((hahahaha, ooooh. Underhanded blooooow.))

((Ahahhahaha. I just watched Interview With a Vampire. It was such a fun movie!!!! Hahaha. I enjoyed myself thoroughly! Just letting you know!))
Abel blinked at Leah's reaction. He looked up from the table and over at Talen with a curious look. He then turned his head again when Leah stood up and went to get her coat, which was on the chair. "Ummm..." He paused and stood up slowly.
"But..." He said to Talen when he grabbed the coat. "What are you talking about? I don't have an effect on her." He said, not really sure what he was talking about anymore. "Hold on!" He cried, hurrying to pull on his coat and scarf. He pulled at his shoes, almost stumbling and tripping as he hopped down the hall.
"Guys wait!" He said and then came to a stop at the door when he realized they were still there. Laughing he finished putting on his shoes and buttoned up his coat. "Yeah. Let's go!" He smiled widely, breathing out through his nose.
((LOL.))
Gabriel headed outside and moved over to his car which was topped with white snow. It contrasted against the smooth black surface of the sports-car. He set the bags down by the trunk and fished into his pocket for the keys. His eyes moved over to James as he spoke and he smiled a little.
"I have a deep respect for doctors." He said, pulling out the keys. At James' next comment he paused and then laughed back at him. He opened up the trunk and pushed it back. "Only those with kids who need someone to play with." He said back, his white teeth bright in the darkness against his skin. "And of course the ones that are gorgeous. Gotta make time for them all. A tough job, going to all of them, but I find time." He said, voice still inviting and warm, though some of the words he said could be twisted into a snide insult.
He bent down and started to pull the bags into the trunk. "If you're worried about me taking them away or something. I'm not going to. I know my place. I could have had her before she met you. But I know she needs someone more..." He paused, putting the last bag in. "Human." He smiled over at James as if what he had said was completely normal. "I'm not going to control her or you. You two have to figure out just what it is you want. That's not my place." He closed the trunk and looked over to the man near him.
"You should get inside, it's cold out here."
((Hahaha. I'm not really sure what he means, whether he's trying to GET Alice or trying to keep James and Alice together. Haha. He's complicated I guess. We'll figure out what he means eventually!))

((I'MMA POST ONE MORE TIME. And hahaha, I was informed to watch Interview with a Vampire. Never got to it. But I heard the mansexual tension was quite wonderful.
And I appreciate you letting me know about such WONDERFUL THINGS IN YOUR LIFE.... Also: hilarious story. The guy I am currently "seeing", I guess... is brown, plays the guitar, and is hilarious. Why does this sound familiar? *cracks up*))
Talen gave Abel a long and smiling look when he stumbled into the entrance hall, halfway in his coat and his heels hanging out of his shoes. He raised his eyebrows. Leah turned to look at him and covered her mouth to hide a smile.
"Alright!" He said and led the way out the door. "Let's get this little lady safely home, huh?"
Leah smiled into her scarf. "Thanks." She made sure to say. "Both of you."
"No problem. Right Abel? We are two incredible gentleman!" And Leah led them the best way home she knew how, sticking close to the two of them and then drifting away whenever she felt she was too close to Abel. Several times she bumped their gloved hands together and she retreated quickly to Talen on her left. He'd laugh.
"Someone after you?" He'd say.
Together in the silence of that night they made their way through the streets, close together and warm against the cold of the dark. It was a long walk, to which Leah often apologized on their way there, and not too much further, I promise this time, she stopped at her building and looked up.
"Here." She said and smiled faintly at them both. "I guess this is far as you two need to go."
"Abel doesn't want to go upstairs?"
Leah stared at Talen and fidgeted clumsily for her keys in her pocket. "I-I really need to sleep for tomorrow. Um. I'll..." She glanced over her shoulder at Abel. "I'll see you guys sometime." She nodded too quickly.
((THERE. Anything you wanna have happen there... it's ALL YOU.))
James did not seem so amused, falsely or otherwise, at Gabriel's obvious jibe. He dropped what clothes he had rather roughly into his trunk and drew away. It was obvious he didn't like being close to this man, even being feet away made him itch.
He was not a large man, not compared to Gabriel by any means. He was averaged sized, had always been considerably strong enough to do what he needed if it came to it, but he wasn't a fool. There were many things he'd wanted to say to Gabriel, and he knew better, knew when to pick his fights, but what he said next made his teeth come together in his head, his fists clench.
"It's just so EASY for you, isn't it? You think I'm some kind of BAD guy here, don't you?" James wanted to know. "The busy father and husband... too busy for his family." He narrowed his light eyes. "That's what you think, isn't it? Bullshit. I love Alice. I love my son. I have BILLS to pay. Maybe in your world where it's so SIMPLE you can just be there so EASILY for people." His words were biting, twisting out of his mouth, the hard and bitter truth of what he felt. "I can only be there for them in this way. And it really hurts me. It hurts them. And you're here... ******** it up."
"You can be here. That's fine. Just... stop doing my job better than me." James shook his head, clenched his fists again. He made a gesture that said enough, he was finished. Without a goodbye he turned and left back into the house. The door shut tight behind him, but was restrained, quiet.
((hahaha, I really worked hard on James's bit... I didn't wanna be too flat and generic. Sooo... I MADE HIM HAVE SOME LAYERS THERE. Love is more complicated than that. Isn't it WONDERFUL? And he damn near well broke my heart there at the end.))
