Blake flipped his ears back, still thinking through the idea. "It might be easier on her if you came to us..." He said slowly, tasting the words. Raine? Coming to be with him and the girl? Well, at least, to be with the girl. The girl? He needed to stop calling her that...
His yellow eyes shone as the thoughts sunk in, looking over at the caring wolftauress with a goofy smile. As soon as that smile appeared though, it faded. "I- I don't know how I could possibly thank you enough for this." He looked down at his hands again. "She really needs a mother. You're doing, well, this is monumental what you're offering." He cleared his throat.
"For the first few days, you won't have to do anything except get to know her. Ease into her space. She has a couple chores to do, but usually she plays outside." A tiny smile re-emerged. "Maybe, we could all do things together. The three of us." He coughed slightly. "I mean, to let her know you're safe, and there for a good reason." He was also looking forward to getting to know the woman he had looked up to for that short summer as a teen, but no need to add that to her already big list of things.

"Aye." Raine smiled and sat back. Her fingers laced with each other nervously as she listened to Blake. "Monumental." She whispered humbly, she really hoped that her prescense would be okay.

"I'll help with chores too." Raine pipped in suddenly. She really didn't want to be just there for Nina...she wanted to be more helpful as well. Raine flushed, chores were normal for her anyways with the pack.

"Oh! We could." Raine grinned, "Of course!~" Her eyes lit up with hope though she visibally tried to seem calm, "I mean yes, that's a good idea."

Blake smiled and nodded. "If you wish. It might actually help the process for her getting comfortable with you. I mean, the quicker things get done, the more play time you'll have with us- well- her. It'll be good time for the three of us. She might be shy though." He looked down at his hands, then back up. "So, once we're done practicing here, would you be able to meet her? Get introductions out of the way at least?"

"Of course!" Raine nodded happily as she went to her pack. "Shy? Oh, really? With a father like you?" Raine teased lightly as she snapped an arrow into place. Like always her arms went up gracefully and the arrow's head soon collided perfectly with the rough bark of a pine tree.

The wolftaur looked over to Blake, curious. "What's your daughter's name, Blake?" She had somehow forgotten to ask him that before. Raine flushed, it wouldn't be nice to come over to help and not even know the girl's name!

She placed one of the last arrows in the bow and raised it to fire. The wolftaur frowned, maybe this arrow wasn't just exact like the others. Raine sighed as it flipped through the air instead of sailing smoothly. Yup, she definitely hadn't cut that one straight. But she wasn't too sad about it because the other arrows had turned out good. And not to mention the distraction of going with Blake looming on her mind.

Blake smiled at the teasing. "Yeah, surprised, right? I just said she might be. She tends to have different personalities at a whim. Not sure where she gets it." Which was true. It was possible she got it from her mother, but he'd only known the damn female for one night.
"Oh!" He flattened his ears for a moment. Why had he not even mentioned that? "Her name's Nina." He said as he shook out the skin and wrapped it back up next to Raine's pack. Nina. After the Spanish word that means 'little girl'. At first, it had been used to distance himself. Now, it was almost... a claim. His Nina. His little girl.
Shaking his head, he brought his bag over a little closer to where Raine was, pulling out another knife of his. Smiling at the arrow gone astray, he aimed his knife at where the arrow was stuck in the ground. "What happened with that one?" He asked curiously as he threw, the knife landing inches from the arrow.

"Ah." Raine's eyes glittered in interest. Nina seemed like such an interesting character! Though the wolftaur felt prepared for anything after having to go through the twins. She laughed softly as she thought back about them.

"Nina." Raine smiled, "It's a cute name." She didn't know the meaning, but she did like how it sounded. Thoughtfully Raine ran a finger over a feathered arrow before looking back up at Blake.

"Oh." Raine smiled sheepishly, "I must've slipped up on cutting out the shaft. It was bent and therefore didn't want to agree on flying the correct path." She tucked a strand of hair back before looking down at where his knife had gone.

She walked towards the wounded ground. "Nice pointing trick, Blake." She commented teasingly as she bent down to pick up Blake's knife carefully. With fingers that still throbbed gently the wolftaur handed it back over to him. "Hey, want to continue practice later?"

Raine smiled warmly, "I mean since I'll be with you guys, there'll be plenty of time for us to share weapon tricks."

Blake nodded his head with a smirk. "Well, I did pick it myself. Of course it's a good name."
"Oh, you cut the arrows all yourself." He said in surprise. "Well, makes sense." He shook his head at himself. Most hunters made their own weapons. He watched her carefully pick up the knife and arrow, and once he got his blade back, tossed it in the air once... to show off a little.
His ears perked at the suggestion, quickly followed by a nod. "Sure. You have a point there." Flashing a grin, he turned and went back to his back, wiping off the knife and putting it away. "She's at a sitters right now, so we'll pick her up and then go to my place." Saying 'my place' brought a question to his mind. Soon, it would be their place... would it?
"Raine, how do you want me to introduce you? I mean, not just to Nina, but to others."

Raine laughed lightly at Blake. "No ego going on there at all~" She commented before nodding, "Yes and no." Raine slung her bow over her shoulder, "Sometimes Riker or someone will cut the wood for me and I fix them up. But usually I do most of the cutting and such."

"Introduce me to others..." Raine flushed. Her mind kept adding onto the main situation. "Umm, whichever you think is easiest on you Blake." The wolftaur smiled, "I don't mind meeting others."

She laughed teasingly, "Unless you just want to keep me a secret~"

"Ego? Me?" Smirking at her reply, he nodded at her explanation. "That's good of them to help out."
"Well, I suppose-" He looked up with a start, then grinned. "Well dang. Maybe I'll just keep you a secret all to myself. Hide you away like that story Cinderella." He laughed, tyeing his bag tight, then hooking it around his waist. "Maybe, we should just start at friend... but you're going to be... maybe..." He shook his head with a grunt. "We'll see how it feels when the time comes. Ready?"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 22, 2009 11:43 am

"Cinderella?" Raine laughed lightly and made a sweeping motion. "Can you imagine me in the ashes?" She asked lightly before growing somber again. "Yeah, we'll see."

She tied her bag closed and after swinging it over her free shoulder, Raine nodded. "Yep! I'm all ready to go." She grinned, but after a second thought grabbed something from her bag and shot it with an arrow into a tree.

Raine nodded, satisfied. They'd be able to tell from that. "Let's go." She straightened her bow and smiled. She couldn't wait to get there!

Blake smiled, seeing in his mind that pale skin covered in dirt and grime. "Aw, I'd give you a clean blanket to sleep on. Besides, the house isn't very big." He chuckled.
Heading into the woods, he glanced back at the sound of the arrow. "What was that for?" He asked, pausing for Raine to catch up before moving on.

"Aww, thanks Blake." Raine giggled, "That would be so generous of you." Her tail waved innocently as she waved off the arrow, "Nothing much. Just a gift for my usual stalkers." Emi and Eri would realize plenty from that.

"So! How far do we have to go?" She asked picking up the pace like a pup excited for a hunt. Really though she was beginning to be worried again. What if Nina didn't like her? What if- Raine just shook her head and pushed the thoughts aside.

"Stalkers. That sounds like fun." He said lightly, letting the thought go. Must be a message for friends.
"Oh, not too far. The sitter's house is a bit off track from my house, but it's not a big difference. We'll be there soon. The time will go even faster now that we have each other's company to enjoy." He chuckled. "At least, I assume you enjoy it."
PostPosted: Tue Dec 22, 2009 12:56 pm

"Very fun." Whispered Raine with a slight look behind her. But no there was no flash of white in the trees. For that she was glad. She wanted to do something on her own for once instead of being watched like she felt always happened recently.

"That's good." Raine smiled happily up at Blake before flushing. "Oh, yes! I assume you enjoy mine then too?" She questioned teasingly as she stepped lightly over a collection of fallen twigs.

Blake grinned. "Yes. Very much. I wouldn't have invited you home if I didn't. Nor said yes to you being Nina's... mother." He tested the word, feeling in around in his brain. Considering that her birth mother had vanished, probably to never return, Nina needed a more feminine influence. If Raine would be caring for the girl, helping to raise her, what else would he call her? Friend didn't seem enough. Maybe it would work for now, but not later on. Guardian didn't fit quite as nicely. Nanny or sitter... just no.
So, he had to check. He cleared his throat, a nervous smile showing up. "How did that sound to you? Me calling you her mother..."
