Of course he had allowed himself to become distracted by trivial things completely unrelated to the important issue that was at hand. He gaped as he noticed that Watari was holding a flamethrower at the demon's back, ready to singe his wings off.
"Soka!" he gasped, leaping to his partner's side, prepared to defend him over himself if the need should arise.

Laughing softly, Watari's gaze remained on Micheal, but he was smirking again. "I think he's going to try to back them up, Bon." the scientist spoke, flames flying from the flamethrower.
Flames that were dangerously close to the demon's wings.
"Tsuzuki, you need to keep your ofuda ready. This is hardly the time for us to be lowering our guard."

Serious again, Tsuzuki nodded at Watari, raising his ofuda again, two fingers inverted behind it. A white light shone around him and a mystical wind blew around back and into the flames released by Watari's drawn weapon. The flames were fanned by Tsuzuki's summoned gust, causing the fire to engulf Micheal. He smirked, pleased with the result.

Amber eyes glanced to Tsuzuki, and the scientist's smirk turned into a smile. "Not bad, Tsuzuki." Watari spoke, rather happy with the result.
He had thought Tsuzuki would be a limited fighter without his shikigami.
Apparently... the elder shinigami was proving that theory wrong.

Micheal looked startled for a fraction of a second when the fire engulfed him. Then he just laughed, the feathers of his wings instead of burning up merely took on the glow of hot metal and carried the acrid smell off heated metal. Spines grew out of his back and lower arms. His face took on birdlike aspect. He spun and reached for the flame thrower, a rather twisted smile on his face.
"You no longer wish to talk? Is it because I'm not and never have been human?" He roared and leapt at Watari.

"Watari!" Tsuzuki screamed out in panic. One thing he would not allow was anyone he cared about to come to harm. Using a frantic teleport, the shinigami threw himself in front of Watari, back to the demon, arms out in a protective gesture, ready for whatever pain was to come.

Smirking, Watari's amber eyes watched Micheal from over Tsuzuki's shoulder.
'Now that I've seen part of his true form... I think I can figure out just who this demon is.' the scientist thought, throwing the flamethrower to the ground and pulling another ofuda from his pocket.
"I suggest we leave, Tsuzuki-chan." Watari whispered into the elder shinigami's ear, his body pressed against Tsuzuki from behind.
Of course this helped conceal the hand signs that Watari was currently making behind his back.
A shield of bright yellow light sprang up around Micheal.
"And I suggest we do it before he breaks my containment spell."

Micheal roared and threw himself against the shield. He knew that it wouldn't hold against the power at his command. Testing the shield for weakness until he found a spot, he called his power and slammed it at the weakness with enough force to shake the ground at his feet.
"You try my patience insects." He growled and hammered the weakspot again watching cracks race up the side of the shield.

"You're right, there's nothing else we can do right now." he whispered in agreeance with Watari. "Hisoka! Let's go!" he yelled to his partner before teleporting out along with Watari, who was still touching him, pressed up against his back. Hopefully no one would be around when they re-materialized, or it might look slightly awkward out of context.

(((OOC: Gomen... having writer's block. I'm working on an update to my Gundam 00 fanfic so... my brain's kind of stuck on Lockon... MIKI KEEPS DISTRACTING ME! Usually he distracts me as Tsuzuki... demo... right now he's distracting me as Lockon. GOMEN! I'll post soon. I hope it'll also entail a post for Muraki finally too!)))

(((OOC: I'm working on the Muraki post (gotta do something while loading scans on dialup) atm, but as for the rest... HERE IT IS! Actually, I finished about 1/3rd of a character on that Gundam 00 story... and then today I was inspired to write an entirely NEW story, so I wrote the first chapter for that, and somehow I got my inspiration for Watari back along the way. Very very odd...)))

Sighing in relief, Watari released Tsuzuki and sank to the ground. "This... is ridiculous." he whispered.
Carefully, the scientist removed his glasses and rubbed at his eyes.
"New demon... a demon with the head of a bird... and I can't even access the databanks to find out who the hell he is!"
Frustrated and angry were mild words compared to how the shinigami REALLY felt.
Amber eyes looked up, catching Tsuzuki and Hisoka in his gaze. "So... what do the two of you make of this little mess, hmm?"

Amnesia.
It was a rather common diagnosis for short term memory loss, but rarely ever manifested itself to the degree of forcing a person to forget their lives completely.
That was why Muraki Kazutaka had yet to decide if his condition was a case of short term memory loss... or long term.
Especially since everything after his first year as a practicing physician... was a complete blank.
Closing the notebook in front of him, Kazutaka sighed and took a quick sip of coffee. He had spent the day trying to figure out what activities he had been up to during his memory loss, and so far, everything he had come across regarding the day-to-day life of Muraki Kazutaka... had shed not light on anything.
He had been practicing medicine at one of Tokyo's hospitals, and had apparently visited his friend Oriya Mibu in Kyoto... but aside from that, the man couldn't figure out anything else.
With a sigh, Muraki stood and looked at the clock.
His train would leave in an hour, which meant he needed to get to the station.
Perhaps Oriya would have some answers...

"Ridiculous is right..." he growled, "Listen, Hisoka, Watari, I want you to tell Tatsumi what happened and find a way to research this. I'm heading back to see if I can figure anything out about this Otori or whatever the demon is looking for."
Before his fellow shinigami could protest, he had disappeared. He rematerialized in front of a train station and began to look around, orienting himself to his surroundings.

"TSUZU..." but then the elder shinigami disappeared. "KI..."
Sighing, Watar looked to Hisoka. "Bon... I'll tell Tatsumi. Could... could you see if the Gushoushin will allow you access to the database? I'll come to help with the research as soon as Tatsumi and the Chief are apprised."
He had ten minutes until the train arrived.
Sitting just inside the terminal, a black bag resting near his feet, Muraki was dressed in his traveling attire.
A pair of jeans with a collared shirt and tennis shoes.
Of course, if Muraki had known this was HARDLY the sort of attire he would have normally worn... that might have made him even more confused than he already was.
'Oriya has to hold some of the answers... I know it...' he thought to himself, checking his watch once more.
The terminal was beginning to get full now as everyone waited on the train's arrival.
