Ah...I think theres a small list worth of those in my head. I read half lying down, even though I get yelled for it often enough. I dogear many many books if theres no bookmark nearby. I lay them upside down so the cover sometimes gets ruined. Uh....anymore....sometimes I tend to accidently mistreat them, like folding a corner of the cover on accident. But I've stopped dogearing for the moment and resorted to paper bookmarks.

I read a lot of Japanese style (right-to-left) manga so when I go to pick up an English style (left-to-right) I sometimes turn it over by accident.

this really isnt a bad habit per se, but I reread alot of stuff and tend to not try new stuff. Its hard to stop doing this because I wait for an author to come out with their newest work so I read everything they have done up till that point sweatdrop ninja thus...alot of rereading

I carry my books in my backpack with lots of other stuff, so they get worn looking fast. I fold them too much, and I dog-ear the pages. Sometimes I will write in them (only in pencil). I'll sometimes read in the bath. I usually have a book or two on my nightstand, and so my waterglass sometimes rests on my books...

Well, I ruin it for myself sometimes. I will read something all in one night. For me that just like ruins the whole thing. It's so much more fun to read it from time to time for me.

Alienarose I read in the shower. Does that count? Yeah, it runs up the water bill, but I've figured out just where to hold the book so it doesn't get wet! ok...that's a pretty bad habit but making me tempted to try it... My bad habit: I buy the book, before buying I read a paragraph from the middle of the book. and then after buying I read the last line of the last paragraph of the last chapter of the book.

I dog ear them constantly, because I never use bookmarks. I leave them facedown with the spines open, I fiddle with the pages so the edges are all wrinkled, I use them to get dirt out from under my nails, I eat while I read (and i'm a slob), I dog ear pages with quotes I like or spelling/grammer mistakes, I flip them over in the air with my feet, I let my hamsters chew the spines, AND I doodle on them if I have a pencil in my hand.
I am a book-killer.
