Bjorn watched as Kai stood over the map, explaining to him how the prince may possibly still be alive.
"I don't know...anyone could claim to be the late prince, and I know that he wouldn't be stupid enough to openly declare his presence, as you hint at." he said, looking at the stones as he spoke.
"And besides, Gailor sent out huge search parties for any members of the royal family. The chances of the prince having survive are slim. We never saw him on the way out, remember? And he didn't hide where I told him to." Bjorn added, shaking his head.
"Anyone with brains would ignore Gailor...and he's not the rightful king, so I will excuse you just this once for giving him that title...a more appropriate title is-" Bjorn broke off to say a word in his native tongue: a vicious insult that didn't translate well.
"But I digress. What I mean is, if this operation is as good as it is, anyone near the capital would attract Gailor's attention, and would likely be conscripted into his forces...rid bandits from a town, but then take a few towns, expand his influence a little."

((Oops Sorry, didn't know that Gailor was North of Faren.... xd I'll say the line is South-Eastern then))
((As for the Gailor RPers, perhaps you were on routine patrol when you came across a bandit attack. Thinking of quelling the pillage, you encounter the Prince...?))

Kai nodded, crossing his arms. "Though Gailor is not the rightful ruler of this place, and that none of us would recognize him so, don't forget that his army still do. It is best not to make our opposition known, not yet."
"As for the chance of the Prince still being alive, it is slim. But it has been proven clear that this..."look alike" does bear resemblance to the Prince and that he IS avoiding Kyaro for some reason," Kai continued, his brow forming a frown.
"But there is only one way to be sure of this; We have to draw this individual out and evaluate for ourselves if he actually is the Prince. What I would recommend is that we first travel to the area marked by these stones," Kai suggested, his finger tracing the line.
"There we have two options in luring this person out. One, we could post a bill, requesting for assistance. While this is the easiest way, I feel that it would not hold the immediate and/or desired response. The alternative, is a bit more messy, but is almost guaranteed to get the retaliation we desire," Kai stated shifting his eye over to Bjorn.
"The alternative is that we pose as bandits, pillage a few villages and FORCE them to show." Kai studied Bjorn's face, looking for signs of a response.
"It's your call, I'm sound with both courses of action. Of course you also have the option to just not go and forget that my presence was ever here."

((Um...I planned for them to be at the Gailor-Faren border. Since Gailor took over Faren, he would have taken the Faren castle as his own and ruled from there, leaving Gailor behind. Gailor would honestly be among the safest places for Aki to hide, since Gailor doesn't need to watch it as closely as he would the other places.

And as for how Bjorn and Kai find out if Aki really is Akihiko, I was thinking that they could be at their base when they return from Tinto. That way, they can evaluate his reaction to seeing them and judge if he was real or not. But it's just a thought.

And Zslone2, I suppose Aki can run into your character at Tinto. ^^))

The mercenaries soon arrived at Tinto. It was in worse shape than it was last time they had been here. Most likely the work of the bandits. I can't stand seeing my people like this while I hide away like a coward! If I was stronger, they wouldn't have to suffer like this... Aki thought as they entered the village.

((Oh that's what you mean! Sorry I kind of misinterpreted it there! sweatdrop
Never Mind! The line is the Northern Border!

But the thing is Kai and Bjorn does not know where the fort is located....yet ninja , But I guess and wait to see how Demon will make Bjorn react first. None of this is set in stone)) ninja

((Woo! First post as Gailor!))

Gailor stared up from his new throne in mild interest where one of his workers was wheedling off the problems in the country at that point. Poverty, bandits, rebels, revolts, boycotts, underground slave-selling, hobos, train hijackers, starvation, and rumors of the fallen prince. Only the last one worried the king, and it was probably tosh, anyway. Still, it was something he had to look into. Correction:it was something he had to have his soldiers look into. Waving the talking man away, he sent another worker to tell the soldiers to go have a look. With that, he settled back into the throne and smiled gleefully at the sight of horse-drawn carriages from outside the open window. Taxes were rolling in at last.

~!~

Pilli slumped back into her chair. The other members at the table were droning on around her, but she found the meeting boring as hell. Yes, the country was falling apart. Yes, it was the fault of their boss. Yes, he was supporting them and no one else. This meeting was going the same way they always did. She glanced at Yue, who was sharing the same disinterested attitude. Pilli liked Yue. They were the only female soldiers, as far as she knew, and they had both already proved that they were better than every man in the room.

Without warning, there was a knocking at the door. Pilli took it upon herself to call, "Come in." And in came an informant from the king. He, apparently intimidated from the power emanating from the members in the room, hurriedly gave them the message that they were to instantly go among the countryside and look for the prince again, and possibly solve problems they came across. He then scurried from the room as a general cheer of 'Something other than this! Woo hoo!' broke out. Pilli got up and edged around to Yue. "Hey, let's work together this time."

Nalken slowly walked along the dirt road wondering how he was to pay for the food he had to buy at Tinto. He had heard some rumors of a bandit gang that was in the area and figured he might be able to strike a deal with the villagers, heck maybe even be a town hero and get a lot of stuff for free. He slowly made his way into Tinto only to find that the bandits were already plaguing the town. "Wonder if I should do something or let them finish. No one is outside getting hurt and they're only taking food." Nalken said to himself as he cautiously watched the bandits raid the village.

((Maybe they could get directions from one of the villages they helped. I'm just trying to help get them to Aki a bit faster. The faster Aki makes his appearance, the better, and I don't want him to make an appearance until he knows that Hana and himself aren't the only ones who managed to escape the castle and avoid Gailor. He would be foolish if he did.))

Aki saw the bandits attacking the village. An old man shuffled out of a house to their left.
"Thank you for coming to our aid yet again, Aki," the elder man said.
"It's no problem. Killing bandit scum is nothing. You should go back into the house and leave these guys to us," Aki told him. When the elder went back into the house, the three walked towards the bandits. "Hey! What kind of scum attacks an innocent village!?" he called out to them.
The bandits all stopped what they were doing to look at the three people approaching. The two boys were armed, one with a sword and one with a crossbow, and the woman was unarmed. "Who do you think you are!?" the leader yelled.
"Mercenaries."
"Peh. The village hired you, didn't they? Is that the best they can do? A bunch of kids and a woman?"
"Don't underestimate us," Hana warned.

((Obviously they've helped Tinto before. And I didn't feel like dumbing myself down so that the bandits could talk like actual bandits would, so that's why they talked like normal people.))

((I thought pilli hated Yue, or was that pikki?))

"Oh Pilli darling, I didn't see you!" Yue smiled as her smokey voice echoed out. "Though it would be a task to see anything useful amongst all of this nonsense." She waved her knife at the advisors haphazardly as she gave the veiled compliment. She wasn't one to speak plainly, not unless she was very upset.

"Working together you say? Well I suppose we could, but I do so enjoy going to the red light district..."

Bjorn nodded slowly, taking in what he'd heard. After a moment, he sighed, and then spoke.
"I don't know...I don't much like the thought of wasting their time, if it turns out to not be the prince. In the time it would take them to figure out they don't really need to be there, they could have stopped more bandits." he explained, sighing. "And I would never think of pillaging a village...I know that's what my ancestors did, but I won't, and if I catch you doing it, I won't hesitate to cut you down. My suggestion is...we go to these villages..." Bjorn pointed to the stones.
"And instead of posing as bandits or pretending to be in trouble...we pose as vigilantes as well: we find bills and go to complete them. Chances are they will as well: that way, we can do a dual purpose, killing bandits and possibly finding the long lost prince." he suggested.

Kai's eyes stayed fixed on Bjorn as he spoke.
"Though your plan is sound, I'm...hesitant to say the least, of putting our meeting on a chance encounter." Kai shocked his head , stood up, then shrugged.
"But I know you. You are a steadfast individual; It takes you long to make your decision but once you do you will not budge from it," Kai explained. "If you feel that this is the right way, then I am forced to concur."
Kai sat back down with a thump and waved his hand dismissively "Go now and prepare your things for the trek, I'll wait for you here."

"How is it any different than your plans, Kai? It may happen that if we post a bill, that group doesn't arrive, and if we pose as bandits, the group still doesn't arrive. I believe this is a fair compromise that also allows me to continue my duty as a soldier." Bjorn said, standing. He gave a small grin at what Kai said: he rarely smiled, but grins were common from the large man.
"It will not take me long." he said, stepping into the forge. "Damien." the boy looked up from his work. "Close the forge and go home, you're going to be free for a bit. You are not to come back here alone...talk to Ranon if you want, he might watch over you." he told the boy before climbing the stairs to the loft above. He quickly piled some clothes into a large pack that he slung over his shoulders, then he tied his claymore to the top, in a way that let him take it if needed. He came down the stairs, turning to Kai.
"Let us be off." he said, opening a drawer from the counter and pulling out a money bag: the whole till of the store.

Nalken watched from the shadows, his bow already armed and aimed. Should any bandits play unfair then they would die not knowing what had happened and most would probably scatter. As Nalken watched a small group of mercenaries approached them and Nalken softened his grip but aimed at the armed bandits going over to them, before long Nalken let loose his arrows striking the bandit armed with a crossbow down as the others looked astonished as to what happened and prepared for the battle that would ensue. "How did that!" One of the bandits yelled as a few backed up scared by the scene while others screamed, "How did they do that! They're gifted from the gods!" Most bandits fled past Nalken not noticing him but a few remained and they looked like they could take a few more arrows than Nalken had with him. "I hope they can handle themselves." Nalken thought to himself.

Kai was about to explain the difference in his plans but seeing that the big man had already turned his back, Kai discarded the thought.
"Still devout as ever," Kai thought to himself. Kai looked at the map and started to clean it up as Bjorn headed upstairs. Once Bjorn came back down, Kai awaited him by the door. Kai eyed the big man, scanning him up and down. Seeing the claymore on the man's back, Kai smiled.
"Still confident in your sword arm?" Kai asked kindheartedly, as they stepped out of the house. Kai drew out his magical fan and opened it over his head, shading him from the beaming sun.

And with that they began their journey...
