Shanna66 YuriOfSexyland DIMD Vampersteen YuriOfSexyland DIMD aside form the one girl who believes in god but not the devil rolleyes Yah. That's me. Thanks. It's what I believe, and I have my reasons. The eye roll was a bit annoying and unnecessary. I know it sounds crazy to everyone else, but again, I have my reasons. It makes sense to me and keeps me going, so it shouldn't matter to anyone else. x How can you believe in good, and not evil. That is far more than illogical. I'll roll my eyes at whomever I please, especially those who claim to believe in a story, yet pick and choose what they believe from said story. God created everything, according to religion, that means he created evil as well. You can't believe in one and not the other, yet expect to be taken seriously. when did she say she didnt believe in evil? Exactly. I didn't say I didn't believe in evil; I said I didn't believe in the devil. Maybe I believe in more than one god. You have no idea what I believe. And half the time, I don't either. Which is why I'm proud to call myself Unitarian Universalist, because in my religion they don't really mind what you believe, you just have to be a good person. It works for me. I don't believe in the devil or hell, really, because I believe that if our God(s)/Godess(es) are as forgiving as everyone says, they wouldn't send us to such a place. Really, you're saying that I have to believe in people who live in the sky/underground to be considered logical? Not saying I don't believe in God(s)/Godess(es), it's just that I don't think it's logical. Nor do I want it to be. Life is illogical. I'm cool with that. x

Haha alright, it's kinda like this: You can follow any religious path you'd like, worship anyone. We have Buddhist, Hindi, Christian, Jewish, Pagan, Wiccan, etc, etc, in our church. We believe that as long as you help people, believe in equal rights, and respect nature, and things of that matter, you'll do fine. Our minister made up a song for the younger members of the congregation that helps them remember our princeples. We don't really commit to one book (like the Bible) we have copies of most holy books in my church, but we don't follow every single one of them word for word, we just learn our lessons from each book. We also celebrate many differen holidays (Halloween, Christmas, Summer Solstice, etc) and sometimes we'll havel like, a little communion ceremony (with grape juice, haha). I think my favourite thing we do there is put on a Christmas show, showing the story of Jesus being born like they do in most Christian churches, but after ours we all sing "The Rainbow Connection" while a rainbow machine makes a huge rainbow across the ceiling (: All in all, you can believe what you want, you just have to be respectful, or at least tolerant of other people's beliefs. And not go around telling them that they are "illogical" for believing what they do. x

i like that. ill have to look more into it. at the moment im a mix of pagan and chrstian but i believe as long as your a good person your all set to have a good afterlife or a good life the next time around, whichever you choose.
besides, in the end i dont think it really matters what we believe in as long as we try to be good people. who really knows who is wrong and who is right?

x-Gray Skiez YuriOfSexyland DIMD x-Gray Skiez YuriOfSexyland DIMD Shanna66 YuriOfSexyland DIMD Reading through the "Halloween servey" thread, I noticed a lot of people believe in god, AND in ghosts (aside form the one girl who believes in god but not the devil rolleyes )...but their book of religion ( I.e the bible) says that ghosts (as in spirits of people who have died) do not exists. I find their hypocrisy HILARIOUS. Just sayin'. not every christian believes in everything the bible says. some believe that there was room for human error since its been rewritten and translated so many times Then why believe Christianity? By that respect Jesus could have said "murder babies" and it have been lost in translation. Why believe the bible at all, if their not sure what it originally said? In that case, Why beleive anything at all? You just read and are told things, how do you know that its not all a lie? How do you know that america was really settled by those religously persecuted and not by some random people chosen by the king of england? You don't know. you just beleive it's the truth. (I don't know if you beleive that's the truth, just making an example.) I personally have not restricted myself to one religions beliefs, I take what I think is right and fashion my own beliefs. Scientific evidence. Without it, nothing is really to be believed. If there is no proof, there is no point believing it. Sure there are things science can't explain at this moment, give it a wile; they'll prove or disprove it. Well if that's what you think, good for you. I'll stick to my beliefs and I'd just appreciate it if you don't insult them. Not necassarily that you have yet. And if you do insult my belifs, then ******** you and your thoughts. mrgreen Isn't this a religion discussion thread? Not "hur hur ******** you if you don't believe like I do" thread? At least I never told anyone "******** you for believing in god". The definition of "discussion" must have been lost on you. rolleyes Logic is obviously not one of your beliefs. Just sayin'.

The devil is Christianity's (and many other religions) equivalent of evil, or rather its incarnation. Thus the disbelief in said character in said religions is denying evil, or putting the blame on man, which in turn would disprove the existence of any sort of "god" and said persons would have to admit that the bible was a lie. Good does not exist without evil. Edit: Believing in one or more god(s)/goddesses I can understand, but for every "heads" of a coin, their must be a "tales".

A level of respectability is to be had for everyone who has the courage to express their personal beliefs. Cheap shots aren't necessary, GS. This is not a spelling thread, nor is it the vaguely-sarcastic-and-hurtful-if-it-happens-to-turn-nasty thread. There's a lesson about "Harm None" buried here, both of you. I don't want feelings to get hurt on either side.
This is a learning thread, Yuri. This also happens to be the internet, so taking care and reading a little more thoroughly is important. I don't mind a little mudslinging, but trying to convince the other person of something they're not going to go for is just dangling the carrot over a millennium old grudge is just plain gullibility. The language is uncalled for, and that's pretty much my only point.

D_Marx The language is uncalled for, and that's pretty much my only point. I'm not seeing where my language was unacceptable, I was mearly stating that there was no reason to be all "f**k you if you think differently", as that other guy said pretty much out right.

I did not say that. I said if you insult my beleifs, then F you. NOT, F you if you think differently. I won't lie, it kind of upsets me when you take something I said and mistake it for something that is offensive.

If someone insults one's religion, it goes without saying that they do not believe it, and holds a criticism to it. And of course you said "f**k you and your thoughts", so would that not mean eff your disbelief or criticism to said religious thoughts?
