Looking up at him sheepishly, she was silent for a moment, not wanting to say anything that would hurt him further. "Okay. If that's what you want me to do, then fine." She bit her lip, looking up at him and shaking her head. "Rory, I'm not embarrassed of you. I mean, I had you meet my mother." While they were on the topic, she couldn't help but wonder if perhaps he was ashamed of her, knowing his mother wouldn't approve of an outsider dating her son. She wouldn't mention it, though, especially when she was trying to make Rory feel better.

Looking to the ground with shame, she nodded. "You're right... I'm sorry." And she meant it. She tilted her head up and looked him in the eye. "I won't lie. I... I'll kiss you in front of everyone, too. I will."

"Tha' mean we're gonna kiss now?" Rory asked, half teasing and half hopeful. He caught a lock of Lee's hair gently in his long fingers and tugged playfully. "Guess there's a lot w' still got t' learn on each other, yeah? I care fae you, girl, but I worry sometimes about what th' life you had did t' how you view th' world."

Lee certainly would have kissed him had she not gotten the impression he liked her less now. Looking away, she sighed, more worried than insulted. "Are we still going, then?" Her voice was weak, her words coming out as mumbles.

"Aye, love," Rory said, leaning down to kiss her, not holding back on passion. He had an idea that his girl needed a little reassurance. Sure, he'd felt insulted, but he didn't like her or care for her any less. Plus, he was the forgiving sort.

Wrapping her arms around him, she smiled with relief as he kissed her, eventually pulling away and searching his eyes. Pausing for a moment, she remembered what he'd said earlier. "The man you love..." Now that the mood was lighter, she smirked up at him, cocking an eyebrow playfully. "You know... I never told you I love you. You're just assuming..." She bit her lip, clearly only teasing with him.

"Could be th' way you kiss me tha's convincin' me o' how you feel," Rory chuckled, blushing a little. He took her hand in his, interlacing his long fingers with hers. "Come on, girl. Let's gae shoppin', yeah?"
He led her through the carnival grounds out to where the trolley station was. Stopping at a kiosk, he bought tickets for them both then waited on the platform with her till a trolley arrived. Once on he found seats and plopped down, almost pulling her into his lap.

She looked down, smiling and blushing as they walked. Even if it was obvious, she wasn't going to tell him she loved him yet, simply because he hadn't wanted to label it as such before. Not to mention, she didn't want say such a word so often that it meant nothing to him.
As they stepped onto the trolley, she very willingly fell gently into his lap, resting against him. Even if she'd always been weary of being publicly affectionate, at the moment it didn't seem to bother her.

Rory wrapped his arms around her, affection and protection encircling her. He watched out the window, head resting against it, as they traveled, seemingly entranced by the world whipping past.

Lee spent nearly the entire ride looking down at her lap and letting her mind wander, not finding the need to say anything. She was very much used to riding her way about town, and found it mundane enough to just sit and think about nothing in particular. She supposed this was how Rory was when he did such little talking while eating.

As the trolley pulled into their stop, Rory patted Lee's bottom affectionately, getting her up, then leading her off the train, making sure to hold her hand tight so as not to lose her. Off the train, he looked about, getting his bearings, then started walking with her toward the market and shopping area.

Lee cocked an eyebrow as Rory's grip around her hand tightened, realizing for the first time how long his fingers seemed to be. Tugging him to stop for a moment, she looked up at him, a bit incredulous. "Hold up your hand for a sec." She held her's up, too, so they could compare.

Rory gave her a confused look and held his hand up, the unnatural length and extra joint of each finger and thumb clearly shown. "Still donnae think o' me as a freak, Lee?" He was only too glad at the moment that he'd worn shoes for their outing so the girl couldn't see his toes had the same genetic deformity. "It comes wi' th' eyes an' seein' th' dead thing. Somethin' about some ancestor o' ours bein' o' th' fae. Th' blood is weak now, but th' traits still show up from time t' time."

Her eyes wide, she barely murmured a, "Nu-uh..." to his question, looking over his fingers briefly. She pressed her palm up to his to find his hand seemed to dwarf hers. "My fingers look pudgy..." Letting her hand fall, she held them together to hide how short they looked in comparison. Looking back up at him, she shook her head a bit. "Saying you're a freak for having long fingers is like saying I'm a freak for... I dunno, having a mole on my face, I guess..." Okay, that was a bad analogy, but the point remained that he wasn't a freak.
