Liam was relieved to hear that Mikoto did not laugh at him, but surprised to hear that he was jealous. "Jealous?" he asked, looking up again. "What do you have to be jealous about? Aiden... Aiden is long dead. And you are him reborn, anyway. Not that you're a replacement for him, or anything," the man added quickly. Why did he have so much trouble talking to Mikoto?

"For as long as I've known, people have flocked to me. All fo them dreaming of a future full of glory, fame, and riches just for being associated with me. I've never known friendship. I never bothered with crushes, as they all sought the same thing. So, for you to tell me that you're within the throes of pure, unadultured love, even if it is induced by memories...it makes me jealous." Mikoto finished sipping more of his drink.

So, Mikoto was not jealous about where Liam's feelings were directed, but that he felt them at all? That was strange. "I... I like to think that... Aiden loved Laeglas as much as Laeglas love him," Liam replied. Maybe Mikoto would feel the same when the rest of Aiden's life was revealed to him. "Laeglas... His entire world revolved around the prince. Nothing else mattered to him except that Aiden was happy. I never would have thought that sort of devotion was possible, but my memories of his life are so clear it's as though I lived it myself. Are yours anything like that?"

"Sometimes. There are times when I see through Aiden's eyes. But...for the most part, I feel as if I'm watching a tragic play. I feel like...such an outsider. I feel Aiden's emotions, but they are just that, his emotions." Mikoto sighedsadly. He didn't like where this was going. "Having his memories, are interesting. But, they are painful to watch... Because, despite having his memories and emotions, I feel like the 2nd POV of a story..." He looked down, twiddling his thumbs.

"Like watching a movie..." Liam murmured, mostly to himself. No wonder Mikoto did not feel as strongly as he did. And how strange that they should have such different experiences with the memories of their past lives. Maybe things would change for Mikoto. But maybe they would not. And why was it so different for him? Was it something to do with Mikoto? Or Aiden? Laeglas had been the one to pray for this new life, and a new chance for their love. Maybe that was why his memories were stronger.

Mikoto felt extremely having revealed something so depressing. He didn't like this at all. "...So, hey! How long you been a bartender?" He knew it was strange to ask so suddenly. But anything that veered away from discomfort was good for him.

Liam was actually glad for the change of subject. It was a little depressing to think about why Mikoto's memories were different. And he was more than willing to give them a chance to fall in love the traditional way. "Since I turned 21," he replied, "I was a waiter before that."

Mikoto nodded his head. "I see. Is it fun being a bartender?" He was a bit more relaxed in these waters.

"Yeah, it can be, but it can be pretty stressful at times, too," Liam replied. "It was hard when I first started, trying to remember all those recipes and getting everyone's drinks to them as fast as possible. What about you? You're a writer, right? How long have you been doing that?"

"Well, officially, ever since I graduated from highschool. I've been into plays and theater ever since I was a child. Watching the actors on a stage made for a story, and acting them out accordingly, fascinated me." Mikoto smiled softly as he thought back. "Lately, though, I've just been writing scripts for whatever troupes that come through the area. Not a safe job, but I've been fortunate so far."

"That's pretty cool, though," Liam replied. "I used to want to be an actor, but I guess I wasn't any good, because I couldn't get any jobs, so I just gave up. Bartending's a much steadier job, anyway."

"Hnn. A steady job versus the dream. An ever popular, ever occuring delimma. Sure, a steady job would put one at ease, but I like the thrill of never knowing my next job's pay. Also..." He cast his eyes around the room. "...Iwatching people act out a story I wrote is very thrilling. And fulfilling. When troupes come up to me, I have them introduce me to the crew, every last one of them. And then, I work to create a story that'll satisfy them all and allow full use of their skills." Mikoto smiled softly.

"It sounds like a lot of fun," Liam mused. He would love to do something like that. But he was settled into his current job, and he liked bartending just as well. "Are you working on anything now?"

"It is. I just finished a recent work for a troupe that's passing through town. It was to be exchanged today, but they caught a bit of trouble coming into the area, so I have to wait till tomorrow to meet them." Mikoto gave a light chuckle as he remembered the troupe master's frantic explanation. Then he got an idea. "Hey, do you still want to be an actor?"

Liam was startled but the sudden question. "Well... Sure, I guess," he replied. It had been so long since he had even contemplated that career. "Really, I'm no good, though," he tried to brush off the suggestion he thought Mikoto was making, "You don't have to ask any favors."
