"you're welcome." Zen said, robotically, kind of laughing at imagining guards not listening to their lord. He really wanted to touch that guy's hand. "Perhaps you and I should seek a quieter place to converse? It's getting rather adventurous in here."

The man regarded her for a moment, almost immediately spotting her white hair and odd eyes. He thought about something, but shook his head and quickly changed his mind, apparently. "I'm no one important either. I'll be dead soon, anyway, so why should it matter?"

Riddic glanced around, seeing that his parents were busy entertaining the Queen of LuLain, laughing together. Back to Zen, he nodded. "We should use the side door, then. I would rather not be here any longer than necessary."
"I think I'll go find Angela," Xipilli said, and quickly disappeared through the front door, going off to find her, yet keep hidden at the same time.
Watching Xipilli leave, Riddic then motioned in a direction. "It is this way," he said, leading the man out of the ball room, and into the gardens. Finding a bench, the prince almost immediately sat down. Standing up for too long really wasn't good for his leg....

"Dead?" she asked, stepping into the room curiously. At any rate, he didn't seem inclined to attack her just yet so that was a good thing. "Why dead? Are you ill?"
She looked around and then said. "My name is Angela."
Maybe if she opened up a little, it would encourage him to do the same and she could find out something from him.

Zen saw the prince lead him to a garden, and thought it the perfect chance to poke that hand he was so confuzzled about.
Zen grabbed the guy's wrist the second he let his guard down to plop onto a bench. Zen quickly undid the tied bandages on it, figuring he'd have a hundred guards after him soon enough, might as well see what was under there! And if all the guards were chasing him, Angela would have a riot of a time going through an empty castle

Riddic cried out whenever Zen grabbed him by the wrist and started undoing the bandages. He tried to pull away, but the arm he was holding onto didn't have much strength to begin with, so it was a failed attempt.
What this revealed was a blackened hand, it stopping immediately at his wrist. That wasn't the most interesting part, though. In the middle of his palm was embedded a ruby, a jewel that symbolized blood and warfare. In fact, the way it was embedded into his palm was similar to Xipilli's.
He huffed and pulled his hand jerkily away. "Just what the HELL do you think you are doing!" he demanded, proceeding to rewrap the hand.

"And I am the one they call Ares," he introduced himself with a slight bow. "No, I am not ill. I will merely be killed within the month by that blonde haired kid, Xipilli, that you met just earlier."

"Ah," Angela said nodding. "Ares." She had no clue what he was talking about. "Why is Xipilli going to kill you again? He seemed like a rather nice person. If he was the sort to wantonly kill people, he probably would have just offed the guards trying to put him in a dress and be done with it rather than running away."
She paused and then looked at him suspiciously. "How exactly did you know I met Xipilli earlier anyway?"

"AHAH! I thought so. Some magic is the source of your bad hand!"Zen exclaimed, idiotically proud of the fact he'd just done the most awkward thing ever. That jewel, he saw it before. "That ruby looks a lot like that Bejeweled kid's... What's with it?" He was more than curious now, and nobody was coming to kill him yet so he might as well ask.

"I told you before, I was born like this! Magic has nothing to do with it!" Riddic snapped at him, quickly loosing all of his composure, as well as his temper. "And you have no right just grabbing me like that! I have no obligation to tell you a damned thing!"

"He was born to kill me," Ares replied simply with a sigh. "You'll be surprised what a touch of magic fire can do to a person." He then turned away from her and started searching the room again. He first checked under the mattress, as Angela had suggested, but it wasn't there either.
Crossing his arms, Ares closed his eyes to think upon this. "Maybe it's in Xipilli's room, then," he muttered to himself, completely ignoring Angela's last question on purpose. He'd rather not answer it if he could avoid it.

"I'm impressed," Angela said with a slight smile. "Most people try to dodge questions they don't want to answer but you just outright ignored it."
She mulled over what he'd said about Xipilli being born to kill him--Xipilli was the avatar of that power. The goddess of something or other. And he was meant to kill Ares. And on earth, Ares was a power--before he vanished into Arborea anyway. Which mean this Ares could be a power as well--or something similar. Hmm...this was complicated. It was always complicated when powers were involved.
She was a little amused that he'd taken her suggestion to look under the mattress though.
"What exactly are you looking for?" she finally asked. "Perhaps I could help. I was supposed to be going to Xipilli's room anyway."

"I've never seen anybody born with a black hand before, let alone a shiny jewel in it." Zen perched on the bench in a squat with an unusually graceful jump onto it. All the formalities were over, so were his needs to act diplomatic and normal.
"Princes are always creepy, I knew there was something funny about you. You remind me of my nephew." Zen quarked his head, trying to figure out what he should do. He didn't have to run for his life and find Angela yet, which was nice.

"An opal. A black one, to be precise," Ares pointed out simply. "You wouldn't mind helping me look for it? I know Riddic hid it from me somewhere...." He thought more about this, then suddenly jumped, his eyes widening slightly.
"Excuse me for a moment." Drawing a circle in the air, a picture suddenly appeared and in it showed Riddic and Zen talking in the gardens. "Hello there! Might I ask a favor?"

Riddic opened his mouth to say something when an image appeared next to them, which displayed Ares and Angela on the other side. He frowned at this, taking a step back.
Ares looked at Zen. "You. What you just saw, it's very important that you speak of it to no one. If you so much as say a word, then I shall have to kill you one way or the other. Understand?
"Oh, and Riddic, please tell me where you hid the opal. I need it soon!"
Digging into his pocket, Riddic produced a gold necklace and held it up, of which on the end hung a medium black opal. "You mean this one?" he asked, stowing it away. "If you want it then come over here and get it."

"That's a rather convenient ability," Angela noted, much impressed as she peered into the circle. So Ares and the prince seemed to know each other. She couldn't quite tell if Riddic and Ares were friends or enemies though. "Hallo Zen! How are you getting on?" she asked, giving him a bright smile.
She looked at Ares. "Why do you need the black opal exactly?"

"Um, ok sure...?" Zen thought for a second, knowing he was going to end up telling somebody at some point, and he was fairly sure of his own immortality so he had a delayed reaction. A minute later his face lit up "Oh NO! Don't kill me! I have a wife!" He grabbed Angela's arm in a clingy melodramatic manner.

Ares glared at Riddic for a few moments, before turning back to Zen. "I can very well strip you of your immortality," he told him. "And then kill you. Besides, she isn't your wife."
He turned to Angela, watching her for a few moments. "To keep it out of the wrong hands, of course."
Riddic didn't like this. "Ares! I demand you get down here this instant!"
"Why, so you could yell at me in person?"
"Damnit! Do you want the opal or not?!"
Sighing, Ares turned to Angela. "Would you like to be down there, too?"

"Sure you can, if you think you can strip an endless realm out of my head without your mind imploding. Have fun being me and doing my job." Zensekai crossed his arms and dropped his act. "Angela you should get away from that guy." Zen was feeling a bit over protective.
