Akutenshi watched curiously as Angela and Des fought over what the contract might hold, and something about her father. It was Ky who jarred him out of his reverie. "Oh, yes, I've been called that before," he said to her. "Though, it isn't exactly the right term. Genies are supposed to give their wishes out for free, whereas I, cannot. There are rules and regulations I must follow, so any deal that I make must be an equivalent exchange. In this case, in order for me to save a life-- a job this large, anyway --there must be a life lost or the equivalent."

Turning to Angela, he continued, "So, basically, whomever signs the contract is going to promise me a soul, of any kind. It does not matter who's it is or how it's done, merely that I receive it. If you sign it and I don't get said soul within the given time period, you forfeit your own to me.

"Or you can do what Toshi did. You can take two halves of different souls. It wouldn't kill anyone involved, and as you can see, they'll be perfectly capable of living normal lives."

"Becoming soulbound to a child is hardly what one would call normal, Akutenshi," Toshi pointed out.

Akutenshi blinked, turning to face Toshi so he could reply properly when he noticed something off. "Speaking of which, where is he?"

"Obviously not here."

The doctor frowned. "That's. . . not a good thing."

"Normal? Yeah, normal until the cursed nature of that deal kicks in and twists everything around." Ky sneered, knowing Zen would be really damn unhappy with this deal.

"however..." She couldn't believe she was considering it, but they absolutely needed Zensekai back. No way could she secure two realms on her own, let alone fight Powers from another universe.

"I can't think of anything that's really good at this point..." Asaiyo told Akutenshi, while weighing the matter.

"Despicable!" Des spat. "One life in exchange for another. Only a fiend would find this a remotely acceptable contract."

"I'll sign," Angela said without hesitation.

"You can't!" Des said, horrified. "You're going to sacrifice someone--"

"Myself," Angela corrected. "I'll give him my soul. Eventually." Besides, if she was immortal...it didn't matter. She didn't want to face something like that. It would be better this way. "Exactly what sort of time frame are we looking at?" she asked Aku. "You said there's a specific time period by which you have to receive the soul?"

"Angela..." Des trailed off. With that stubborn set to her jaw, he didn't think he could talk her out of this but he couldn't let her go through with it.

"No Angela, there might be a better way first... Say Akutenshi, what do you do with the soul once you have it?"
Ky wondered, figuring it would be easier to sell this to Zen if she could find a soul who stood a remote chance of benefiting from the deal.

Akutenshi turned back to Angela in mild surprise. "Giving up your own soul? Well, the rules are different when the one signing the contract gives up their own. According to regulations, you may choose your own time period. After all, it wouldn't be fair to have the contractee die without enjoying what they wished for, hm?

"Oh, and I suppose I should add that at any given time after signing, you may substitute any other soul to take place of yours."

He addressed Des next. "I'll have you know not all my contracts require a soul. Only the ones where I must bring back the dead, or save the near dead, have that requirement. Anything else you want from me would have a lower cost, of course."

With that, he turned his attention back to Toshi. "How long have you been like this?"

"Less than a week, I believe. Why should it matter?"

Akutenshi crossed his arms. "You shouldn't be alive, that's why. And neither should Inutai, but you both obviously are. I wonder why that is....."

"I send them off back to HQ. They do a few things, and they get sorted through and such. Some get sent to their proper places, but most get reincarnated. But I do get to keep 25% of the year's income to do with what I please. "

"Hmm, well... As long as you're telling the truth that's better than the fate of some of the souls in Kall... I'm sure we can find one for you..." Ky couldn't believe she was dealing that way.

"I'll sign, and there's dozens of lost souls outside you can pick from." She did'nt really know what else to do, but Ky was not going to let Angela sell herself over.

Edited...

"I don't really care all that much about myself Ky," Angela said. "It's not really a big deal. I'll do it. We shouldn't sacrifice someone else for this." She looked at Akutenshi. "How do we initiate the contract?"

"Stop!" Des said, grabbing Angela's arm. "I am not letting you do this."

Angela glared at him. "Who the hell do you think you are?"

"At the very least, I'm your friend. I don't like Ky's idea either. We could still try to find your father first before you sign away your soul. He can probably heal Zen without sacrificing someone else to do it. Don't you care you if you die?"

"Not. Really."

"Is this about what Atra said about you being immortal?" Des asked angrily. "I'm immortal as well you know."

"I would be doing the same thing even if he hadn't told me that."

Des looked at Ky. "Is there really no other option?"

"The souls in Kall are either fragments of innocent bystanders or evil nut jobs Zen imprisoned here because they were immortal in some way."

Ky shrugged, "It's not like they're having a good time like they are now... They're outside with Atra, wouldn't you go nuts being stuck with him?" She tried to make her point to Angela.

"Where or how do I sign this contract?"

Zen, if you want to bring Angela's dad in for a god war at some point, there are ways to get him here without them gallivanting across the multiverse to retrieve him. Just FYI. It's up to you. ^_^

"You can't offer someone up without asking them first," Angela protested. "At least if I do it, it's of my own free will. N-No one should be forced to do anything, much less sacrifice theirself."

Des took the opportunity of Angela being distracted by arguing with Ky to abruptly slam his hand into the base of her skull. Her eyes went wide for a split second and then she slumped forward unconscious.

He caught her before she hit the floor and looked at Ky. "I don't like the idea of sacrificing anyone either but I'm not letting her do this." He sighed. "She's going to hate me but now you're free to do whatever you please."

This really was a first. He had two women fighting over who got to sign. When he was about to answer their questions, Des had knocked Angela unconcious. He tilted his head slightly. Well, that solved that problem." Shrugging, Akutenshi snapped his fingers and a piece of parchment appeared out of thin air, landing in his hand. A pen had fallen into the other. He unfurled the parchment, and tapped the blunt end of the pen onto the paper. "All you do is sign in all the places indicated, and initial next to the indicated time frame in paragraph three. Just to let you know, you'll have a year to get the soul to me. I can do the service as soon as you sign, however, so feel free to take your time."

"Lets get this over with... lets get your soul before you heal Zen.. I don't want him stopping anything..." Ky signed fast, feeling like she was doing a credit card deal gone wrong.

"Thanks Des." She told the other immortal, she didn't know how to explain that a shot at reincarnation was more than some of the souls in kall would ever hope for.

Ky warped aku, herself, and Des outside to find what they needed in the mist. She didn't really want Asaiyo seeing that yet.

"tell me if you see any soul fragments..." Ky told Des, picking one up from the ground. The thing was barely an etherial light, and it's appearance flickered back and forth in visibility in her hand.

"This is a soul that was partially destroyed in some old god war... There's thousands of these around... They can't move on or reincarnate because they're missing pieces of themselves, so they just sit here." Ky wasn't sure how many they'd need, or how much of a soul any of them was.

"Take as many as you need." She told Aku, knowing the things were beyond their ability to help anyway. She didn't add that Zensekai only kept them because of the sad chance they might've once been one of his people.

Sure, I didn't mean to bring him in now, but later. I just wanted to give other options.

Also, do we assume Des handed Angela off to Asaiyo?

"How sad," Des said, sighing. He hadn't seen anything like this before. "There's one." He walked over to pick up the faintly flickering light, cupping it gently in his hands.

"How many do you think you'll need?" he asked, shooting a glare at Aku. At the very least, the man better be able to heal Zen.
