*Caesar gives a thumbs up.
Then goes off to find something un-WoG related to do, since this place makes him cringe today.*

You know, while imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I was always under the impression that we are encouraged to draw not only from history, but from our own imaginations to create this world and this rpg. No disrespect to Mr. Paolini but uh... We should make our own magic system and shuffle it so it works.

*makes one more post before showering since she's still like talking to people who want details of accidents...damned bloody morbidly curious people*
As far as I understood it, Mia was only supposed to be working on the capablities of what the mages could summon. Such as how many spirites a person could summon at each level to give them aid.
Example one I was given by her:
A initiate can summon a weak spirit that can deliver a message, but if anything gets in it's way, then it's destroyed. Example if a sprite is flying around and a door opens and blockes it, the sprite flies into it, then *poof* Sprite be gone.
Which was decided...umm..no. XP

I'm thinking that level of capability should be reserved for NPCs who have just started their training.
Go shower. You feeling better is more important than people knowing things. 3nodding

Thanks
*has showered and rested and is feeling MUCH better*
Two questions....if it was only a proposed magic system, why is it in the main forum and being discussed here?
And the other semi unrelated question....how the hell are people having life expectancies of 60-65 years with war going on? This is not modern times. Life expectancy is closer to 35-40 for the average person in medievel times so even taking into account magic healing and the like, I'd say the highest we could really expect espcially with a war going on is like 50-55.
*shrug*
Just thought I'd get that out of my system.
*goes to do the stuff she needs to but not before luffling all* heart

The same reason Sey's Unknown thread (which I believe she said was going to become a thread description for Higashi) is in the main forum, and not the crew forum?
Dunno about the life expectancies. I don't care much either way...mostly cause, no matter what you say the life expentency is, the average PC age is going to be somewhere in the late teens.

And all of them are going to be considered important members of society. Even though people in their teens are generally seen as being 'demi-humans'. And 'mastering their craft' in like five years.
I'm with Kat. Regular life expectancy would be in the 30's due to the nature of the times. War, strive, famine, and all that good stuff.

As the guy that plays older characters, as well as the marketing expert I have to object to lowering the maximum age.
Frankly, not only would magic increase lifespan it also proves we're not living in a realistic world. When you can magicaly heal wounds, encourage crops and cleanse disease you have a slight higher age bit.
But once again, this is just covering my own a**. So I'm bias. XD

Hence why I said 45-50. I'm sorry, it just wouldn't go that much further. There are...or should be some things that magic just wouldn't cure. In addition, we also don't have the fear of wild animals or barbarians or direct war conflict to worry about like they did then. That wouldn't change with the addition of magic really. So it would make it somewhat higher but not a tremendous amount.
