Zach padded after, bumping into Rene every few steps. Rene just fluffed his hair and tucked the picture into her bag.
"Salts. Like salts." zach decided. "You like salts?"

"Yes," Izzy said with a little nod. She reached out, wanting to hold Zach's hand if he would let her. She liked holding hands!
Henri indeed was able to bring them back to a pretzel stand, and he bought a plain one with salt for the kids. Before he paid, he looked to Rene.
"Would you like anything?"

Zach let her, but he held the stinger on his hand away with the other hand. Did not want to sting!
"No, thank you." Rene said. She wasn't too fond of pretzels.

"Alright."
So Henri paid and sat down with the kids on a bench. Izzy ripped the pretzel in half as best she could and handed half to Zach, smiling. She was very happy that they'd held hands!
"Anything else you'd want? I don't mind buying you something."

"I'm fine. Do I strike you as the kind of person to bite my tongue." Rene said, giving a slight smile.
Zach happily ate his delicious, salty, doughy masterpiece. Yay!

"Well, no, but I wanna make sure! You also don't seem like the type to want to ask anything of anyone," Henri said honestly, smiling over at Rene. He liked having a friend, even if she was new and sort of angry!
Izzy giggled, so much enjoying the tang of salt and sweet dough.
"Tankoo, Daddy!"
"You're welcome, honey."

"Fankoo Henry." Zach added around his pretzel.
"Oh, I ask for help when I need it." But she didn't need help often. She smiled back, flipping a bit of hair with her wing.

Henri smiled at the polite little boy and his suddenly sweet mother. He liked this. He was glad he'd brought them.
"A pretzel probably doesn't need an hour. Just maybe a half, kay?"

Zach finished his pretzel half and kicked his feet idly. "Walks when done, Izzy?"

"Do you want your mom and I to come too?" Henri asked.

Zach gave him a bit of a look. That wasn't his mom. That was just Rene.
"Yeah." Duh. They could walk for a half hour, then go to the water park.

Izzy would have mentioned the beepy necklace Daddy gave her when she went off on her own, but she was too busy eating. When finished, she wiped her hands off on her pants and hopped off the bench.
"Okay. We walk now."
Henri nodded and stood, ruffling Izzy's hair as best he could around her plates before taking her hand.

And off they walked! Zach had no real area in mind, was just walking with Rene a few steps behind.
"Why's that fat girl wearing such an ugly suit?" Oh, children. Such lovely questions.
"Because she's not self conscious, apparently."
