"And maybe we could build some horses for our sand castle!" Dahlia was roughing out the frame of a horse in the sand, bopping excitedly to some music that only she could hear.
Kallan scrunched his brow up, "I think that might be kinda hard, Dahlia, unless we do them in relief."
"Kaida, wanna help me make another flower garden?" Zaraya's smile flashed as she took the shell Kallan offered and started digging in the sand.

Kaida hesitate for a few seconds before nodding slightly and moving closer so she could help.

"This is going to be one of the best sand castles I've ever built!" Kallan exclaimed, happy as a lark that everyone was finally getting along, or at least not disturbing his sand kingdom.
Dahlia giggled again, "Well...you're not the only one building this one, so maybe that's why it's so good."
Zaraya nodded, "Sixteen hooves are better than four!"

Kaida giggled, finding them highly amusing. "How many sand castles have you built, Kallan?"

"Well..." He tried counting on his hooves, but it didn't work very well. "More than four. Maybe ten. I lose count..."
Dahlia chimed in, "You've built more than five, because I've accidently destroyed five."
"And the waves have washed away six. That's eleven. So maybe eleven?" Zaraya scratched her chin, gettting tiny grains of sand stuck to it. "Kal, I'm kinda dry...could you soak me please?"
"Sure thing Zaraya." He called the water up from the shore and soaked her drying tail. "There you go!"

"That's a lot of castles," Kaida mused, impressed. "How come you've made so many?"

Kallan shrugged, "I just like to do it."
"Mom even got him a sandbox for his room so he can build them at home." Dahlia snorted, "But I have a hammock in my room."
"And I have a pool in mine."
Dahlia paused, "But Zar, your room is a pool..."

"I guess," Zaraya managed, "But sometimes I wanna sit at the table with everyone else when they eat..."
"But we don't always eat at the table..." Kallan offerd.
"That's true. Sometimes we eat with you Zar."

"You all eat together? Like a... a family?" The concept was mildly alien to her, though she had heard that some families did so.

Kallan elbowed her sharply.
"What," She asked.
Zaraway frowned, "What'd ya do that for Kallan?"

"I don't have a family," Kaida shrugged. She had a good idea why Kallan had done what he did, and she appreciated it, though she did her best to act like it didn't bother her.

"Oh...that's why. Sorry Kaida." Zaraya frowned and stared at the sand, ashamed of herself now.
Kallan sighed, "It's not like you don't have a family, you just haven't found them yet. Someone out there has to love you and want you to be part of their family. They're just having trouble getting here for some reason."
"Aw, that was sweet of you Kallan!" Dahlia grinned and twittered about. "Yeah, someone will find you and then you'll have a family!"

"I guess," Kaida muttered, wishing the topic would change. Soon. She didn't think anyone could love someone like her. She was withdrawn and she only hurt people when she touched them. She had seen families. They were always close to each other, hugging or something. She could never do that, she was sure.

"Zar, isn't it about time to water you again?" Dahlia grinned mischeviously at her sister.
Zaraya eyed her nervsously, "Yes..."
Dahlia grinned and went to the edge of the waves and started splashing at the group.
"Hey! My castle!" Kallan shot his sister a glare.
