Castello shot over the wall, nearly invisible against the night sky and totally silent as he soared over the heads of the noisy rioters. He passed over the barricade, his sharp eyes scanning the torchlit streets for weapons dealers. He spotted one a little way outside the barricade and banked to the right, dipping down and smoothly landing just outside it.

A lockpick was enough to get him inside, and slowly the ancient Raven made his way along the walls, perusing the available wares. A nice, shiny silver blade would do the trick.

Annis was relieved to get away from that sniper. Needles, her name was? Suited her well enough, smart-mouthed Blondie with her stupid bow... Annis shuddered again, remembering the size of that thing. So she didn't like arrows, was that so odd for a raven? She rubbed a hand against the blood on her shirt, letting it flake away. She started to turn towards her home, intending on changing before coming back to get food, then paused, wings flapping as slowly as possible to create less noise.

...Another set of wings?

Annis turned around and followed the sound, eventually noticing what looked like a wraith shooting through the air. Only the slight glints of the colored trim on his clothes and the gem in that funky necklace of his tipped her off, as well as the flapping sound of his wings. Gotcha. Annis followed him into the building, and as he studied the things inside, Annis removed a match from her pouch and struck it against the wall to light it aflame. A few moments later, the lantern near the door burned. Annis lounged against the inside of the door frame, barring his way out (unless he were to literally shove her aside, and one hand stayed at her hip, curiously close to her thigh, where she had one of her daggers resting).

"First money from women, then weapons from unmanned stores?" she questioned, eyebrows arching.

Castello slowly lifted a heavy, powerful Silver Blade up off its stand and tested it in his hand before placing it back on the stand again. A smaller Silver Sword was next, and he seemed much more pleased with its balance, twirling it around in front of himself a bit before he picked up the scabbard and belt behind the stand.
Once his new belt was securely looped around his waist and he had sheathed his sword, he turned to face Annis. "You again? Can't keep away, can you?" He smirked, slowly approaching her until he stood no more than two feet away, one hand resting almost casually on the hilt of his sword.
Almost.
He bored into her eyes with his stormy gray ones, spreading and then folding his wings as he reached up with one arm to lean on the door frame. "If you want to just stand and stare, I'll be happy to stick around, but the light's better outside. And the shopkeeper stands less chance of waking up and finding two ravens in his shop. 'Cause he'd believe we weren't working together, right?"

Annis watched idly as Castello approached, not shifting from her position on the inside of the door frame. With his arm against the door frame as well, closer to the wall than anything else, Annis felt almost as if he were leaning over her. She stared right back at him, her wings straightening out behind her back. She flapped them once, then folded them back into place. "Stare? Please. Get over yourself." Annis brushed a lock of hair off of her face, paused, then stepped away from the doorway, out into the open air of nighttime. The lanterns strategically placed around the streets allowed her to better see his face, even in the dim lighting of the store. "Blow out the lantern," she said casually, waving a hand to him as she turned to the side. She looked at him over her shoulder, green eyes narrowed.

"I'm going to assume that because you're getting this sword for free, you're saving that money to pay me back. Right?"

He left the lantern burning. It'd burn out on its own eventually, and it certainly isn't as though it was likely to start a fire. He stepped out after her, closing and locking the door behind him as he went, and fell into step beside her. "I'll let that one pass. Do not ever, ever order me around," he growled under his breath, casually walking with her. On the subject of the money he stole...

"You may as well say goodbye to the money. I frankly doubt it was yours to begin with," he added, smirking. He knew how ravens worked. "Did you get your friend back here alright?"

Annis folded her arms under her chest and snorted through her small nose. She turned her eyes away from him. Even after seeing that beastly form of his, something that made a little bit of jealousy twist deep in her gut, she couldn't find herself to take his threat seriously. "Right. Sure."

She turned her eyes back to him, though, when he mentioned not paying her back. Excuse me, what? "If you must know, that was money from a few jobs I had to complete up north, all right? As legally obtained as anyone else's money. So, no, I'm not saying goodbye to my money."

Her thoughts drifted at the last question. "Ganon? Ah... yes. He's fine. Got an Elixir in him. He went to go see some friend of his when I parted from him, it's not like... we're close, y'know? But I wasn't about to be a douche and let him bleed in the dirt." Annis picked idly at a fleck of blood under her fingernail, suddenly really wanting a shower. "So I helped him. Glad I did, too, he seemed really glad to see his friend was okay..."

Castello snorted. "The b*****d damn near killed Mom. He's gotta be tough." Castello wouldn't dare seek revenge on Ganon; Teifi would be furious if he took her chance at vengeance away from her. "Glad he was alright, Mom would be sorely pissed if they couldn't fight again, I think."

He seemed to ignore the smaller raven's protests that she had earned her money fairly, dismissing it with a wave of his hand and the universal miming symbol for "Shut your damn mouth, jabberjaw".

"So what's going on here, anyway? Big ol' street riot, looks like. Hey, while you were flying, you see that guy who set his pitchfork on fire?" he snickered, shifting to lean on the wall. "What a dumbass." He had stopped by an old hunting spot he'd once loved on his way into the city, and now he reached into his jacket and produced a little opaque jar. He pulled the cork out and sniffed it, then tipped it back and let something fall out into his mouth.

He squeezed it between his teeth. It went squish and crunch at the same time. And pop.

"You take a look at a snake man over eight feet tall, built like that, and you have any doubts to whether or not he's tough?" Annis snorted in response. "Just 'cause you're tough on the outside doesn't mean the same inside. Dude was ******** heavy, too... good thing he actually woke up before I tried moving him, no way in hell I could have carried him." Annis rubbed her hands together, distinctly aware of her clothes sticking to her skin where the blood had dried.

Annis stayed quiet when he began miming at her, just reaching up with a hand and smacking his own away to get him to 'shut up.'

"Yeah, street riot. What, you aren't aware of it already? Would think the cause would know." Annis turned to him, finding herself thoroughly distracted by the new comment. "Oh, yeah, I did. You'd think a dude like him would know how fire works." She leaned on the wall near him, folding her arms under her front. She kept her eyes ahead, watching a lantern in the distance flicker.

The squish, crunch, pop drew her attention, and Annis turned back to Castello. "What the heck are you eating?" Her voice was a little wary, but curious at the same time. Her eyes went from the opaque jar to his lips as he chewed.

The raven chewed a bit and swallowed, then tipped the little jar and fished into it with one finger before extracting a small, dripping orb. And this one had a dangly little bit on it! He popped the tiny round thing in his mouth and slurped, drawing the dangly bit into his mouth, and he crushed this, too, between his teeth and swallowed.

"Eyeballs," he said at last, passing the jar toward her. "Want one?"

Annis watched him chew, and when he finally held the jar out and clarified, Annis' own eyes brightened a little. So that was what those were! "Dude, you should have offered sooner," she told him, taking the jar from his hand. She tipped the jar back to let one of the dripping orbs fall into her mouth, and she ate in silence, chewing. She kept the jar resting in one hand, easily within Castello's reach. When she finally swallowed, Annis flicked her thumb against her lower lip and then spoke up again.

"So... that redheaded woman is all right, isn't she?" she questioned. Calling her 'Mom' jut sounded too bizarre, especially with how young she had looked.

Castello chuckled, taking another eyeball for himself. "Hah, never met someone else who liked them in Learania." He paused thoughtfully. "Then again," he added, "Never met another Raven in Learania. Even Kyros won't eat 'em, and he always says you should use all the parts of a dude. Er, animal," he corrected himself.

He passed her the jar again, seeming to think for a bit as they stood and watched the early-morning crowd start their day. "Uff... I should be sleeping. Cut my afternoon nap short." He let his head thump back lightly against the wall. "So you got any plans for today? We could, I dunno, go do somethin'." He shrugged like he didn't care what she said. "Hell, might even pay you back if I can make the money back, I don't hardly use it anyway."
PostPosted: Thu Jun 18, 2009 12:59 pm

Annis shrugged one shoulder and took the jar. She chewed on a second eyeball in silence, rolling the jar between her hands. She thoughtfully looked over to Castello, then back to the road. "Raven's aren't exactly common around her, as you might've noticed," she said. "And I don't really see how many people would use eyeballs in cooking unless you were to dip 'em in batter, fry 'em straight up and eat 'em like tots."

"Are you a cat or a raven?" she asked, laughing. Annis set the jar down next to his foot, keeping quiet as he questioned her. "I'd kind of like you to pay me back. That was sort of the money I was going to use to restock my pantry," she notified him. "But... doing something might seem nice. What exactly is your idea of doing something?" she questioned. "Styling your hair, taking a nap, then going off and stealing from defenseless weapon stores?" Annis smiled at him and cracked her knuckles, one finger at a time.

Ed stared at the beastie she had been using as a pillow.

It had wings, and it was...speaking. Effortlessly. Ed had a great trouble speaking when she was in any animal's form. The closest she had gotten was barking names and words over during Easter. That was the first time she had ever tried, even.

Ed glanced up at Ganon, then at the beastie, then at Ganon. She watched him scratch the beastie between the ears.

"...'Hatmon'?" she repeated perplexedly. Ed was even more confused now!

Castello smirked. "Well, a quick sweep through town and I should have enough to pay you back... and perhaps we can go flying out to the cliffs, hmm?" He grinned, pushing off the wall and walking away, carefully threading his way through the early-morning crowd. With the riot contained and probably starting to wind down-- people were getting tired, you know?-- the rest of the city went about business as usual. On his way through a thick crowd, the heroic raven's nimble fingers snagged three wallets.

"So," he murmured once they were out of the large crowd, and he was examining the largest of the wallets. "Why... did you walk him back here? Why not just pick him up and fly him here? You're a laguz." He passed the bag of coins over to Annis, twitching his wings a bit.

Annis laughed. "Oh, I see. Well, I don't really care how you get the money... I'd kind of like to be able to eat regularly." she stood up straight and followed Castello through the crowd. She had to admit, he was good at this; she thought she had good eyes, and she only saw him taking one wallet, so as they exited the throng, she had to work to keep the surprise off of her face at the sight of three in his hands.

"I'm not exactly that strong," Annis responded, taking the coins from him. She didn't bother to gauge the weight in her hand -- no looking a gift horse in the mouth, after all -- and tucked the bag into her pouch. "He would've ended up crushing me if I'd tried to pick him up. And he's all right now, ain't he?"
