The Transformation...

When you awake you feel an itching spreading all over different parts of your body. It gets worse across your chest and down your arms and parts of your legs, even on your face. As you look and reach down you see and feel the course brown fur that seems to be growing across your face like sideburns growing all the way even over your ears.

Your fingernails and toenails also begin to ache a bit as you watch them darken and get a bit harder. Your nose feels strange, and wet as it darkens and at the same time you are assaulted by smells you couldn't smell before. You feel a pain shoot down your spine as a small tall begins to push it's way down your pants. A small, flat tail.

The worst part of all, is the pain that shoots through your jaw, as you watch your front teeth grow and thicken into the teeth of a beaver.

Chana awoke, freezing from her...dream? nightmare?...whatever it was. It had been so creepy and so realistic that it made her skin crawl.

And itch. Now that she thought about it, her skin distinctly itched. All over. On her arms, legs, and chest it really itched. And her face...up her cheeks and on her ears. Chana scratched at one arm irritably, but stopped when she felt something weird. It was...fur?

G-d no. It couldn't be! But as she watched, unable to look away, she saw her fingernails --felt her toenails as well-- ache and darken. And her nose felt...well...weird as it was suddenly overwhelmed by...smell.

But there was no chance to even think of figuring that out. Her butt hurt and she twisted around her to look at what had...emerged. As she studied the small, flat tail that was quite clearly attatched to her, she didn't need the shooting pain in her mouth to figure out what it meant.

Either G-d, or someone who thought they were, had a rather sick sense of humor she decided, running her tongue along much larger teeth. She wasn't quite sure if it was anger or shock that made her shake.

Early morning light filtered through the windows as if nothing untoward had happened. Chana flipped to the morning service. Her voice wavered on the second prayer.

"Blessed is the Lord our G-d, Ruler of the universe, who has made our bodies with wisdom, combining veins, arteries, and vital organs into a finely balanced network."

Where's the wisdom in this!? she wanted to scream. Resolutely, she ignored the thought. This was a time of prayer and supplication. There would be time to scream and beat pillows to powder after the service.

Joliette stopped in front of the building on her way back from having met Lily and Cass. She looked up... Chana's place... it made her wonder what on earth had gotten into the girl that she would swear at her, but then if she had had an arguement with the tattoo woman, she could hardly blame her...

After a moment's hesitation Joliette clumped up the steps and stopped in front of Chana's door, she hesitated and then knocked... what was the worst that could happen to her... get sworn at again??

Chana was busy reducing a pillow to shreds. Her new claws made it easier than she'd like to admit. Even so, she was rather calm when there was a knock on the door.

Had someone ever knocked on her door before? She didn't think so. So...she went to answer it.

Chana opened the door a crack. "Yes?" she asked, trying to ignore the scent-laden breeze that swept inside.

Joliette looked at her, something didn't quite seem the same, "Uhm... hello Chana..sorry for disturbing you..." she wasn't sure quite how to act around her after her last encounter, and even the encounter before that with her

Chana chewed on her lower lip...Joli might notice that her buck teeth seemed larger. "You're not really disturbing me..."

If anything, Chana had probably disturbed her poor downstairs neighbor more than once. She sighed. "I should apologize for yesterday. I didn't mean to swear at you..." She shot a quick look back into her duplex.

"...you might as well come in," she said, stepping aside and pulling the door next to her and open. No way was she going to simply stand in the doorway.

"If you had a fight with tattoo girl I can't blame you I suppose... she tried to beat me up" Joliette blinked as the door opened, woah, the girl had much larger teeth then before, her eyes looked over Chana's face as the door opened "Oh no.. I'm sorry Chana.. she slipped in the room and out of the door, knowing the desire to not stand in open if possible only too well

"Antony," Chana automatically supplied the tattoed woman's name as she shut the door. She didn't really want to think about the woman...didn't really want to think, and didn't really want Joliette's sympathy.

"'snot like you had anything to do with it," she half-muttered, trying to sweep up the shredded remains of the pillow with a hand. Anything to avoid meeting Joliette's eyes. She was half-regretting letting the other woman in already.

"Very true, but I'm sorry anyways... for all of us" she looked around the room her eyes landing on the many different signs of Chana's faith "Oh, I didn't realize you were jewish" she said her eyes landing on each thing, but then she hadn't really understood Chana's shirt in teh past "I'm sorry if my christmas present offended, I would have dropped it off differently if I had known" she tried to change the topic, Chana obviously didn't like the other, and Joliette seriously could not blame her in the least.

"My mother is Jewish, my father is Jewish, I am Jewish," Chana quoted, a small smile coming to her face as she looked up. "I'm used to the fact that Christianity is the most popular religion in much of the world."

That reminded her...the candle holders needed to be cleaned out. Why the wicks were continually remaining was a puzzle Manischewitz needed to figure out. A toothpick was pulled from a drawer and Chana set to work on the hannukeah. "I didn't actually bring this...Dr. Duvert was able to get it for me. I completely forgot I'd be here for Hannukah," she commented as she worked.

"The git got it for you, well that was kind of him... for once, seems like he just likes to pick on me... I suppose you figured out this isn't a camp now..I hadn't meant to offend you back then either..." She looked around and then took a seat on a chair watching Chana clean the item
PostPosted: Fri Dec 30, 2005 6:58 pm

"Git? He didn't seem so bad...and yeah...it was pretty easy to figure it out." She frowned as a particularly annoying bit of wax refused to budge. A little teasing...there.

"I just didn't really want to admit it. I didn't actually, until yesterday." The last was said a bit heatedly, and the toothpick snapped in two. Chana tossed it deftly into a nearby wastebasket and snagged another to finish the job.

"Someone who isn't so bad wouldn't give clothing that disolves... but I suppose thats besides the point..." she watched the curly haired female picking at the wax and observed her changes. She didn't want to mention Chana's claws mught be easier then a toothpick. "I'm glad you were able to get what you needed to celebrate your holiday.." she still felt somewhat awkward around her
PostPosted: Fri Dec 30, 2005 7:10 pm

"He did that? Must have a pretty sick sense of humor," Chana mused, fishing the last bit of wax out with an expression of triumph.

"If I'd been thinking straight, I would've asked for Shabbat candles and a Havdalah candle," she replied. "Then again...Havdalah's most fun with other people and someone who knows how to play guitar." She stopped, realizing that Joliette must be completely lost.

"Shabbat's the day of rest, sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. Havdalah ends Shabbat. It's best the way the camps do it; everyone in a circle and at least one person on guitar," she explained.

"Yeah? sounds like it would be fun, though I'm not entirely understanding why you have to have candles to celebrate it...." she leaned her albows on her knees as she spoke and played with her own claws

"After all does the lord need us to have mortal possessions? It's not like we take those things with us when we pass and continue on to join him" at least these were her beliefs even though her mama and papa didn't always seem to believe that true
