"You can make cake out of cheese?" Fao blurted out, looking at her with wide golden eyes, then blinked, catching the other part of what she'd said. "What sort of stuff do you write? I mean, would I know the books?" He watched her as they walked, then added a bit quieter. "Are you afraid of me knowing who you are?"

"We are most definitely stopping for some cake made from cheese," Faolan decided, nodding. He gave Ellandra a look, shrugging. "I read all sorts of things, really. It can be a long trip between towns and districts and sometimes we have a lot of downtime between shows at the carnival, too. Might know some about you, girl, but I could always do with learning some more."

Faolan looked at her, a little surprised. "You're shitting me, right? I think I've actually read one of your books some years back. I mean, I know your name . . . well, pen name, but I never really got a chance to really get into your books. Not for lack of want, just never managed to find some at bookstores of places we stopped at." He grinned. "Imagine that. I know a celebrity."

Inside, though, he was even more filled with the self-doubt that their budding friendship would go further. The girl was most definitely out of his league and deserved far better in her life than a lying thief such as himself. He wasn't sure it'd even be fair to her to keep pursuing her when she could do better. He kept his smile up, though, for her, but his eyes had lost some of their light at the thought that he'd lost before even getting a chance to try.

Taken off guard by her sudden outburst, Faolan stopped walking and pulled her to him in a hug, stroking her hair and speaking in a low, soothing tone. "Hey, now, girl. Shh. You didn't do anything wrong at all. Don't be upset, okay?" He leaned down more, a bit of an awkward stance for him, and rested his forehead against hers, careful not to poke her with his horns. He lowered his voice, almost whispering. "I didn't know that you were so far above me in class. I think my silly notions of having some sort of chance with you got a little dashed, 'cause I know you can do a hell of a lot better than me. Still wanna be friends, though."

Faolan tilted his head, looking down at her. "You want me to try then, is that it?"

"As you wish." Without another word, Faolan ducked down once again, pulling her close, and pressed his lips to hers. He closed his eyes, giving a soft sigh as he relished in finally kissing the girl, having desired to since he'd helped her up after her first fainting spell. His arms encircled her small waist, holding her closer.

Faolan made a low murmuring sound, losing himself in the kiss more since Ellandra responded in kind. He could tell she had never been kissed before--which made him rather happy in that male pride sort of way--and took the lead, moving slightly to tilt his head better due to his horns. His right arm stayed around her waist, though his left hand snaked upwards to tangle in her hair. He parted his lips a fraction and hoped, somewhere under the delirious glee, that she wouldn't suddenly change her mind and run away or faint.
