Cassie inhaled and tore her gaze from her audience and stared out to sea. Maybe this voyage shouldn't have happened. her siblings would have done a much better job. Looking at the doctor, she tried to smile. "I'm tw-"
"It doesn't matter how young or old she is! She is not-" Alan began, his green eyes blazing.
"Forget it!" snapped Cassie, before she pressed her fingers to her temples. Cassie, after hearing Kevin's suggestion, fastened her cloak strings and made sure her petite body was covered. Glancing at her gaurdian, she saw Alan beam at the fact that someone was on his side. With a small sigh, she glanced at the new arrival and tried to smile, her amethyst irises dancing.
" I'm Cassie, this old man is Alan and over there is Doctor Watanabe." She introduced quietly, still annoyed. "As for you, I won't get lost. I'm no longer a child. I'm sure I can manage." She said, trying to be reasonable. Her indigo strands were making its way out of her braid and the light breeze was allowing them to obstruct her view.
"I am not an old man!" He snapped before dismissing her with his hand. "It no longer matters. You will wait on this ship until I find someone to keep you safe." Alan turned his attention on the newcomer and grinned. " 'Ello mate! What brings you here?"

Quiet rustling and scratching sounds was drawing Azhure up out if her deep slumber. The sounds were just loud enough, just out of place enough that even through sleep, her mind grasped that it was more than just a mouse building nest in the wall or floor near her room. Within moments she was fully alert, but still feigning sleep, trying to get a read on the intuder; she rolled over onto her stomach and the rustling immediately stopped for several long moments. When it started again she ever so slowly moved her arm under the pillow and felt the knife there, one quick flick of the wrist and she'd have the thief...she waited, one breath, two, three and in a flash of movement sat up and opened her eyes and in the split second before the handle of the knife left her grasp completely she saw who the invader was and just managed to push the the path of the blade slightly to the left. The blade thudded into the wood wall of the room just next to thief at chest height. Seeing that, he let out a strangled scream and ducked to the floor. Where he sat quivering in fright. "Sam, get off the floor," Azhure muttered to the figure. "And why are you going through my travel pack?" Even as she asked the question, she knew the answer. She'd promised the young boy a small present the next time she had a job outside the city. Somehow he'd discovered that she'd arrived back home - although how he'd known that she couldn't guess. She'd reached the walls just as the city gates were opening for a new day and hadn't seen anyone out on the streets yet. As soon as she'd arrived back at her modest little apartment she'd thrown her bag on a chair in her room and crawled into bed. And yet, somehow, Sam had found out she was back, had broken in to find his gift and she'd almost skewered him. Shaking her head she hauled the boy up and rather unceremoniously dumped him in another chair. "You've got to stop doing that Samuel, one of these days I won't open my eyes before I throw. And now, I'm going to make you wait for your present." She almost gave in when his eyes lit up at the mention of a gift, but held out to try to teach him that he couldn't go around sneaking into peoples' homes. "Come see me the day after the festival day," she added, remembering that the festival should be coming up soon, she just wasn't sure when exactly. She'd missed it for a number of a years in a row and had been excited when she realised she'd get back in time for it that year. "I only gotsta wait till tomorrow?" the little boy finally piped up amazed that he was going to get off so lightly. "Wait today's the festival? Well damn, that was good timing...Let's make it the day after tomorrow then, okay?" Azhure said, not wanting seem too soft. Samuel nodded his head excitedly, it was still a shorter wait than the last time, and then bolted out of her quarters before she could change her mind. Azhure shook her head with a faint smile playing on her lips. Excitement started to flood her, she'd made it back in time. There was no way she'd be able to sleep anymore so she quickly got dressed and headed out into the city. She seemed to remember that water competitions started the earliest and headed towards the docks.

There the young elven would sit, positioned on a wooden chair towards the side of the harbor boardwalk, back arched forward, and head hanging low, right hand placed to pillar his head while the left clung subconsciously to a flute.
Kino's eyes finally opened, revealing those crystal green hues, awakened by the footsteps of oncoming pedestrians, his posture would change. Both hands placed a pose on different areas of the flute, his back would straighten, and next he would play his instrument. Both people coming towards and from the harbor would hear his symphony, most only to pass him by without care. It didn't take long before random children would stop and stare, then routinely having their attentions pulled by their parents to leave.
Kino's play would pick up, then come to a stunning, yet unnoticed, finish. "So this is Chronopolis." Kino's voice would carry a tired tone, eyes matching, lazily remaining only half open. After letting out a dejected sigh, he'd continue to the next song, eyes keeping a locking gaze towards an empty can he'd used to hold money earned.

((Current Character Locations (to the best of my knowledge): Aidan: Somewhere in the city walking, not by the harbor. TriggerPerfect was away, but probably should be back soon. Zeroki: Outside the inner wall in the farmlands Kino, Kevin, Ian, Shizuru, Cassie: Harbor Azhure: Somewhere in the city))
As before, the verbal spar between Alan and Cassie was a bit amusing. Now that everyone was acquainted, it was Ian's turn to respond. The quiet archer had indeed invited himself onto the scene, though probably because he was also curious about the ruckus.
By now, the crowds had long died down and returned to their own business. Kevin could hear the floating sound of a flute among the morning harbor bustle.
Supposedly, Captain Allen had mentioned that Lord Thomas would be making some sort of opening speech to declare the start of the festival. It was supposed to happen in the town square.
Once the speech finished, the competitions would start in various locations all over Chronopolis from the harbor to the arena outside the inner walls.

"Probably the reason Kevin gave, other than that I heard a disturbance and came over to see. Nothing more, nothing less." Looking at the group slowly Ian took in the small details of each person. The small crescent moon pendant on the young woman's neck and waist. The not quite white dots on the doctors headband. The mess of hair that was normal for Captain Kevin."So what's this about keeping someone safe?

The glowing metal burned the wood when it was sat down. Deciding against placing it there Shravra moved it to a more suitable table where he prodded, pushed, spun and weaved the metal in ways the human smiths had been trying to replicate for at least a year now. They had failed to keep up even when shown how to do it. The humans thought that they were the best in their field when it came to metal. How fun it is to disappoint them. A few minutes later the 'young' smith placed a small panorama of a funny scene he had seen earlier today into the water bucket with a hiss. The scene? A hooded figure being showered with water from a bucket on top of a doorway, a young girl laughing all the time. The scene of Ian the archer caught in Forest's trap from that very morning. Now it was cast in metal, each person expertly made to exact detail. It was his entry to the metalwork competition later that day.

Kevin sighed. "Well, I have to get going. See you all around," the captain said as he quickly took his leave. He hadn't finished his patrol. Heh. Maybe Ian could take her around if Alan's so concerned, the captain thought as he waved and left.
As he continued in the harbor area, Kevin noticed the flute that was playing before and found himself in front of Kino. Shrugging, the Sea Guard dropped some coins into Kino's can. "Happy festival!" he bid.

Somewhere else, a tall dark haired man, now without his black horse and dressed a little bit more formally, was making his way very very slowly to the town's center.

Kino's view turned to the one who'd kindly paid him. While maintaining a sitting position, Kino gave a light courteous bow towards the Sea Guard, then replied in a calm tone "Thank you, and to you as well my good sir." He would then continue to play another song, lifting his upper half from its bow and into a well-postured sit. Still he would play in hopes for more payment before taking the time to enjoy the festivities.

Cassie felt her cheeks burn at Ian's answer. Disturbance? Was she really that loud? The woman made a mental note to watch the volume of her voice and bid farewell to Kevin. Hearing Ian's question, she glared at her gaurdian. "Yeah old man. What is this nonsense of keeping someone safe?" She asked before turning her head and gazed down the harbor boardwalk. She smiled softly at the beautiful tune that blended with all the excitement of the festival.
Alan glared back at his young friend and looked at Ian with a grin. " I think -"
"He doesn't trust me to be on my own." Cassie cut in, her arms folding over her stomach. Her indigo strands coming loose from her braid and sweeping against her neck. "Alan wants me to stay on the ship until he finds me a bloody bodyguard and is most likely going to make up an excuse as to why he can't find one." She finished, her temper sparking.
Alan motioned to the woman's temper. " Do you see?! If I were to let her go off on her own, she'll probably destroy half the city." He told Ian, mostly to taunt Cassie further. "And not a bodyguard darling, simply an escort."
Cassie felt her lower eyelid twitch.

((Cat, I'll have Thomas crash into Azhure for now for interaction.))
"Hmph," the dark haired lord muttered as he made his way toward the town square. Despite being quite the responsible lord he was, the man was intent on being late to the opening ceremony, or rather beginning the opening ceremony late since he had to start it off. What better way to ramp up excitement and annoyance at him.
Luckily, he didn't have to judge any of the events. He could just observe afar. As the man was in his thoughts, he bumped into a girl about six foot with blonde braids.
-----
Kevin nodded in response to Kino's and smiled. "Thanks." He then moved on.

((Thanks smile ))
Azhure had picked up from the murmurings around her as she walked that the festival was to be officially opened by the lord of the city. She'd seen him once in the distance as child; one of the orphanage cargivers had pointed him out. She was curious to see how the years had treated him. Half lost in her memories, she startled when a large figure walked into her causing her to stumble slightly. On instinct she reached for one of her blades but remembering where she was, managed to keep herself from actually grasping it.
A moment later when she recognised the man who had bumped into she was infinitely grateful she hadn't drawn a weapon against him. "M'lord, pardon me, I was lost in thought and didn't notice you," she said quietly with an incline of her head. She had no idea how she was supposed to behave in his presence and almost out of habit treated him, as she would any member of the aristocracy who had hired her services.

Wow, just say tour guide or something then, Shizuru thought as she watched the two ships people banter. The new guy was someone in the military, but she didn't really pay attention to people in the military, so she didn't know him.
Shizuru felt that this was taking way too long, and she didn't have that much time. She needed to check Aidan's apothecary to see if Aidan was in. Shizuru knew she needed extra sleep inducing potions...
Shizuru kind of liked Cassie's attitude though. It reminded her of when she was younger, except Cassie whined a lot more. "Ugh."
She started to edge away from the two, heading toward Kino without realizing it.

[[Uhm... I'm really sorry for my prolonged absence. I was staying over at a friends and we ended up being a week delayed in getting back. I'll be more active from now on, I promise! Also, I'm a bit rusty, so if my posts are icky, please be patient.]]
Aidan used long fingers to pull the hood of her cloak up over her head, her eyes and face becoming shadowed. Even still, her figure was still recognizable. Compact and tiny, the Elf was one of a kind, even inside her own race. Moving toward one side of the street, the young female disappeared into the shadows, the ribbons in her hair shining solitary rays of sunlight. Gazing toward the pubs on the opposite side of the road, Aidan sped up slightly. The humans in this district made her a little bit nervous. Of course, if push came to shove, the Elf had the ability to defend herself. She really hoped, however, that it did not come to that. The elves were permitted to stay in the city, but causing problems among the dominate race, caused problems among them all. Only when she was well past the row of pubs, did Aidan remove her hood.
She approached her shop, a slight bounce in her lithe step. So far, the day had gone well, and she was looking forward to the continuation of festivities. Despite this, Aidan had promised several prized customers a few hours of her time in the shop. Unlocking the doors with a fine silver key, Aidan swung the doors inward, pushing a block underneath them to hold them open. A pleasant scent drifted toward the street. The interior of the shop was covered in tiny glass bottles full of dried herbs, potions, fine dust, and scented oils. There were candles wrapped in coloured paper, rows of incense and boxes of dried flowers and leaves used for tea. Untying her cloak, Aidan made her way toward the counter of the shop. She tucked the cloak away on a hanger in the back corner. Behind the counter was a doorway separated by a black curtain. Aidan pushed it aside and entered the little room. It was here that the Elf kept her more sinister products. Shelf upon shelf of vials and ingredients greeted her, sparkling eerily in the sunlight cast down from a window at the top of the stairs that led up to her private quarters. Behind the stair was a door that led to her overflow room, a place where she stored excess product in case she, for some reason, ran out. Pulling the curtain closed behind her, the Elf began to take inventory, climbing a latter in order to reach the top most shelves.

"Then why don't I help out. I know my way round this place better than most other people and it just happens to be my day off." Watching the other woman slid away left Ian with just the two foreigners beside their ship. He couldn't quite tell where they were from but it was obvious they were foreign. "You know something. I'm offering my help when I don't even know your names. Ian Frost, of the archery and cavalry division. Pleasure to meet you both."

((Hmmm... sorry, Articx, you're going to have to deal with this little critter again. Perhaps, Shravra would know how to deal with her better.
Trigger, don't worry about it.
If someone can crash into Kino, so I don't gain a reputation of having random characters crash into people.... ))
Ironically for Shravra, a familiar head had just popped in the door with a hound following. Forest had already gotten bored and was wandering aimlessly through the streets. She had been slightly cold, so she had waltzed into the nearest place that seemed to be warm, Shravra's smithy. Being one on a short attention span, Forest immediately forgot why she had entered the place and became curious about her surroundings. Not noticing Shravra, she attempted to touch a piece of newly engraved metal lying somewhere.
"OWIE!" she cried as she withdrew her hand quickly, and Fang the hound jumped back to avoid getting stepped on by the teenage girl. "HOT!"
-----------------
"Hmm?" The lord was rather impassive, almost not even noticing what had transpired. Quite obviously, he had done the bumping and he was the one lost in his own thoughts. "Well, I suppose that goes for the both of us."
The lord of Chronopolis had a habit of avoiding speaking unless necessary. Probably for that reason and because he was ultimately impassive most of the time, the town council felt that it was easier to speak with Captain Allen.
Thomas was deliberately being slow on his way to the town square to open the ceremonies. He was sure he would get some sort of lecture from Allen. Of course, Allen knew where the two of them ranked, but Allen, being the man of the people, always felt that he had to reprimand the lord for doing something that seemed outwardly rash even if it was inwardly strategic. Thomas knew his duties. He did. He and the captains just didn't always have the same ideas of carrying matters out. ...and Thomas often did close his ears during Allen's lecturing.
Speaking to this young lady would aid him in delaying his progress to the town square. So, he decided to entertain the conversation. "Young lady, I suppose we must both have been thinking of the festival." Thomas bet that even if he asked the girl to look up, if the girl did, she'd probably look back down again. It was very difficult to look eye to eye with him due to his eyes's piercing secretive nature.
Besides, Allen was preoccupied with Zeroki. With Allen's caring features, the captain was bound to be delayed as well.
