It's like they ran out of ideas so they are just scrapping the bottom of the barrel. It doesn't so long as they with have the set up for the next season.

Defender_Of_Earth_Rose I guess if the Doctor doesn't have a companion this is what happens. Some outta smack him. DUDE ELIZABETH SHOULD HAVE XD I'm sure that was the intention, to show how the Doctor starts losing his 'humanity' when there isn't a companion to keep him honest. It's an interesting topic to explore, but the way it's handled in the show leaves a lot to be desired. I think what disappoints me most is that this season we're only getting these specials, but they haven't actually felt all that special in comparison to previous seasons. The only thing that came close for me was 'The Next Doctor' (though I could have done without the giant steampunk Cyberman at the end). Hopefully Tennant's final story will live up to expectations.

I kind of liked the arrogance at the end. It makes a change to the obvious goodies and baddies that makes children happy.

It's not the Doctor turning arrogant that bothers me, it's how abruptly it happens. I mean, you could say that this has been hinted at for a while now... we've seen glimpses of the Doctor acting like he's the final arbiter of right and wrong going at least as far back as 'New Earth'. But he never acted like a flat-out jerk... it's that rapid change in personality which I just don't feel is believable.
I don't give stories a pass just because they have neat ideas. They've got to connect the dots properly, too.

1. They did mention Ice Warriors. I was happy.
2. Ten turned into a ridiculous jerk at the end, way too quickly. I think the main woman's suicide took him down a notch, after all he did to save her and she still understood that the future required her death - or something like that- but the preview for the next special.. it looks like he's on full-on jerk mode and I am not all that happy about it.
3. I didn't mind Ten being a jerk but I was expecting him to chill out and have a reality check afterwards. I minded when he didn't. That's not the Ten I know and love and his new personality is reminding me more of the Master each time I think about it. In fact, when the Simm!Master showed up, I referred to him as "Ten on caffeine, but without morals/conscience". Now what am I supposed to do? confused
Fantasy - He was referring to Elizabeth, as in Queen Elizabeth. As in the one who was shouting at him at the end of the Shakespeare episode in S3. There's a reason he didn't finish his sentence about her.
One more thing. If this is a way to get Ten to be less likeable before his regeneration to help ease the transition (I hardly believe that, but still), I'm not only going to be very annoyed at a certain writer (more than usual) but it may make me not like Ten right at the end of an otherwise fantastic run. Which is not cool if it's basically the last new emotions I'll have of him.

They're probably setting 10 up for a really big fall at the end. Remember those scenes somebody posted on YouTube with him staggering around looking injured and apparently visiting past companions. Making amends when he knows he's about to go, maybe not sure if he'll regenerate if it's really bad?

There's a reason he didn't finish his sentence about her. Aww, you're going to make her Google it to figure it out? Queen Elizabeth was also called 'the Virgin Queen'. So when you add that to: "Got married... that was a mistake. Good Queen Bess. And let me tell you, her nickname... *ahem*... anyway." Yeah. You get the picture.

He goes from trying to save them to "Time Lord Victorious" and fail. Just needed to stretch out a bit more.

More time was needed well pitching that line it takes a wile to sink in after saved some planets got marred. You are not really paying attention. Personally my mind wit I wonder was he late for this one as well?

It should have been a two or three parter just to flesh out the fire/brim stone part where he's like, "I'm a god now. I'M A GOD NOW!"
