I just bought my fist pentacle necklace today ^-^ its not fancy, very simple. But i like them that way...

umm...is pentacle and pentagram the same thing? i said pentacle around my friends and they laughed at me and told me that it was called pentagram, not pentacle.

as a matter of fact no they aren't the same thing really. a pentagram is an upside-down pentacle and is actually called a hexagram and is used mainly for the breaking of curses and hexes, not casting them like alot of people I know like to think. *stares straight through the walls of his house at his mother with daggers in his eyes*

The upside down (inverted) pentacle is actually meant for banishing and can be used for hexes if the need arises but it isn't evil. It is seen as being evil because of people believing it is due to media and such which also ended up giving it a untrue name "hexagram". because of this allot of "fluffy" pagans don't use it at all and its original use and meaning has been forgotten by many, hence some people say use a blue pentacle for banishing. A Pentacle is when it is a solid object whilst a Pentagram is when it is drawn. Weather it is inverted or not it still has the same name.

I have put the word fluffy in quotes because i do not intend to offend anyone who didn't know that and was using it as a term that people would recognize. When i say the word fluffy myself i mean someone who is into paganism as a phase and they do not fully study it nor care to properly learn about it. Or someone who does a bit of it here or there and calls them self a witch for it.

*sigh* a pentacle is what you wear. a pentagram is what you draw for whatever you may be doing. Obviously, you weren't listening last month.

...hexagram and is used mainly for the breaking of curses

My ninja... the Hexagram is actually six pointed, and is made up of two equilateral triangles representing "as above, so below", and also when it's broken apart even further, it represents/reveals the four alchemical symbols of the four elements Earth, Air, Fire, Water.

So the Hexagram itself also has multiple purposes.
Along with the...
Heptagram (seven sided) *relates to seven days, chakras, the sisters, and dragons*
Octagram (eight), though I don't have enough information this one besides something related to order and union (possibly the duo and the four elements)...
Nonagram (nine) *three times three, made of three triangles*
Decagram (ten) *often known for completion in Celtic lore*
the twelve-pointed star relating to the Zodiac and months in a year, and I have yet to find the use of a 16 pointed star which I am awfully curious about since I drew it in the middle of my research on the different symbols.
Magically speaking of course. whee

I particularly like wearing my pentacle, it's a little metal one that has a fairy on it. I wear it a lot but normally when I'm in mixed company I tuck it in just out of respect for others. " I know some may not agree with this, but it's just my thing. :3"

Though a few days ago I was browsing one of our local shops and they had ones for people who work in professions where they deal with the public on a daily bases. They were pretty neat looking, It's a lotus flower that has a pent incorporated into the flower.

XD Personally don't care what jewels other people wear..

Only thing I wear besides normal clothes is an orange wrist band, it has Bushido written on it, & that's about it...

To me, it means something special, not sure what, but something. Bushido, obviously is the way I try to act, & orange is a special colour to me, for some reason, so that's why I ware it...

As for anyone else, you can ware whatever you want, I think. Even if its something bad, don't really mind... I can't make you take it off, so why try?

Erm Bushido is a Japanese term that means the way of the samurai ... And orange well i have no idea. unless your a MA thing i think it could mean your rank but i am not sure about it
...
As for me i wear 1 pentacle at most times i take it off for a shower and such. Then i have another and a many of necklaces. I do all tho Hide my pentacle at work not to offend anyone(working in and with the public you don't want to offend anyone. lack of sale's means you're a bad employee).

Yeah, but Samurai had to act a certain way. Hence why its called "War Man's Way (Path)". They usually act with manners, honour, courage, respect, etc, etc. & I'm Brown belt, & in our school we don't use orange belt, so it doesn't have anything to do with that XD

I was given a pentacle about three years ago without really knowing much at all, I gave that one away to someone who did.

I now have two pentacles. Both have Ravens with them, just in different ways. The first one has the pentacle incorporated (I love to use the base -corpor!) into the Raven, I bought that for myself... oh about a year and a half ago when I just thought of myself as co-existing with Pagan thoughts. My second Raven pentacle has the pentacle with a Raven in front of it, it is from another "basic" Pagan friend.

I have no issues wearing my first one around anybody, the star blends in most of the time. sweatdrop Of course, at a former job, my old boss said: "Sooo... you're a Pagan, right?" I had to look at him for a minute to figure out what he was up to and said: "Well what is your definition of a Pagan?" He just responds with: "I'm from Yellow Springs, I know what the "star" means, I'm a former hippie and I had hair longer than yours." Now my eyes were looking at him like he was either: 1)Telling an awful joke or 2) He wasn't kidding. [My hair was 26" at the time. It's now 28"]

Let's just say he had some photogenic proof. He was definately doing the dreads. ._. ...

Due to where I live, I obviously don't wear one. Not quite certain I would though - there are simply too many negative and false impressions out there. Not that I really care about that, but when I talk to someone, what they're focusing on is a symbol of what they think is generally evil and what's being said or who's saying it.
