The silence around the two of them made Riker feel quite awkward. His tail twitched as he stifled the urge to pace about the fire. "So...have-have you ever been with a pack before, Adi?" His eyes looked to the fire, though his full attention was on Adi.

"M-me? Oh no. I was never in a pack. I grew up with my parents and my brother." Aditya stared into the fire, the colors reminding her of her parents pelt. "I guess I kinda miss them, but I gotta start living on my own. I can't stay with my parents forever." she sighed quietly, stirring the pot again.

"Oh." So in a way Adi sounded a bit like who he used to be, a packless wolftaur-a rogue. Hearing about her parents made Riker want to look over, just to see her face. A silent moment passed, but finally his golden eyes shifted over. Riker's eyes softened as he looked at Adi. "I'm sure-" He paused and smiled faintly, "...that they'd be proud of you, Adi. One day you'll visit them and show off all your new skills, maybe?"

Aditya quickly rubbed her eyes with her arm, hoping Riker wouldn't notice. "Y-yeah. They'll be so happy that I can hunt and cook." she sniffed rather loudly, her face feeling hotter. Riker was probably going to think she was weak, crying about her parents like a child. 'Please don't let him notice me crying.' she prayed silently.

"Of course." Riker replied with a small smile that nearly froze as he noticed Adi's sniffle. 'Is-Is she crying?' His eyes slightly widened with surprise and confusion. What should he do now? Riker thought of all the ways Raine had comforted others, she even helped him once. But that didn't mean that he knew what he should do. Was he supposed to mention it, or should he just ignore the tears? But she seemed so sad, and he didn't like to see anyone cry. 'Especially Adi...'
Riker sat silent as he tried to untangle his thoughts. Suddenly a small idea formed in his mind and with a secret grin Riker coughed lightly. "It's a bit chilly isn't it?" He murmured before scooting over towards Adi. Cautiously Riker wrapped an arm around Adi's waist and gave a comforting squeeze. "I-I hope you don't mind. I've heard hugging is a good way to help warm and other things." He whispered before allowing silence to grow around them. Truthfully though the wolftaur just wanted to try to comfort Adi in anyway that he could.

"O-oh! Um. Yes. Yes it is!" her face was still hot, but she rested her head on his shoulder, "...Thank you." she whispered. "You're very kind Riker. I'm very glad we're friends." she smiled her tail wagging a little. Even though Riker probably did notice her crying, she was very relieved that he didn't get angry at her for it.
"You should meet my parents one day Riker." she giggled, her mood coming back, "They're kinda like me. We're extremely happy together you know." Aditya slipped out of Riker's arm to stir the stew again. "It's almost done." she said gleefully, before sitting next to him again.

Riker smiled softly and patted Adi's arm, "I'm glad too." His eyes sparkled, reflecting the warm flames of the fire as he laughed lightly. "I should?" His mouth curved in a grin, "But I don't know if I can handle more than you, Adi."
Riker paused and took in a breath, "Really though, it'd be nice. You need to meet my pack as well." He frowned thoughtfully before nodding, "Raine is the nicest wolftaur I know, she's kinda...like my mother. You definitely should meet her first."
Leaning over Riker sniffed the air and gladly took in the aroma of the stew, "It smells really good, Adi!" His tail wagged like a puppy's as he grinned at Adi. "I can't wait to try it." Relaxed, the wolftaur leaned back towards Adi.

Aditya flopped her hand at Riker, "Bah! I'm sure you can handle all of us! Maybe you'd start to act like us after a while." the yellow wolftaur looked up from the fire still smiling, "I would love to meet her! Maybe she can cook too?" she looked hopeful.
Aditya's eyes lighted up, "Oh I'm glad your excited for it!" her ears perking up.

Riker let out a fake gasp though his tail wagged with amusement. "I hope not!" After a moment, Riker nodded. "Raine is a good cook, just some of her meals can be very...unique. Good but unique."
Riker laughed at Adi's expression before nodding. "Of course I am. I'm sure anything you cook will be delicious."

"Really? That sounds so cool! What kind of unique?" Aditya slowly dumped some of the stew into a bowl. "I hope you like it!" she handed the bowl and spoon to him, watching him expectantly. "Go on! Try it!"

"Unique as in weird. Like sometimes she'll put mixed berries and weird herbs in with the meat or something else unusual for a meal." He grinned sheepishly, "Though I'm not used to much cooking, so maybe it's not too weird of her. "
Riker nodded and slowly blew on the steaming soup before dipping in the spoon. With ease the wolftaur raised the spoon to his mouth and swallowed a warm mouthful. "Hot!" He yelped at first before wiping his mouth with a hand. Riker smiled brightly as he took another sip. "But it's really good, Adi."

"I'm sure it makes the meat taste better..." Aditya said thoughtfully, "Usually different fruits make the meat taste differently-for the better."
"Oh! Do be careful!" she said, hoping his tongue wasn't burnt, "Your pack might be after me if they find out I burned your tongue!" she smiled playfully, tail still wagging, "I'm very glad that you like it." Aditya said pouring some for herself.

"I guess that's true." Riker grinned innocently and nodded, "I just stick to hunting, I'm really not much of a cook." Then he laughed and shook his head. "No worries! Some might wish that my tongue was burnt so I couldn't speak for a bit."
Raising his spoon the wolftaur moved it carefully so he could watch the steaming soup swirl before taking his next bite. After it cooled a bit, Riker still made sure to slowly take his next sip of soup. Then he stuck out his tongue playfully, "See, no serious injuries taken."

"Well whatever happens to your tongue, I will always be there to try and heal it for you." Aditya nodded, puffing her chest out. Taking another spoonful herself, she tried to access her cooking this time. It was better this time, the deer had blended nicely with the vegetables she had found.
Giggling at Riker, she tapped at him playfully, "That's cause you took your time with the soup."

Riker barely swallowed his soup before laughing at Aditya. "I'll remember that. Now my life has become so much easier since I have a healer for my poor tongue." The wolf grinned and waved his tail.
Riker gave a small pout, "Or maybe its because I'm such a tough hunter." Hunter...that reminded him of the big hunt ahead of him this summer.
