Joker smiled and said, "You know, between all of us, I'm sure we've all got a good 'Almost Got 'Im' story. I know mine's the best, but... let's hear yours anyway." He turned to Poison Ivy. "As we all know, the rule is 'Ladies First', so... Gossamer," the clown turned towards Gossamer as he said her name, "You get to start."

Gossamer gave Joker a smile and leaned back in her chair a bit. ”Alright.” she said, then tilted her head back as if to think. ”Let’s see…best ‘almost got ‘em’ story. Well, I suppose the closest I ever came happened a month or two ago when I was working for my previous employer, the Kingpin. He had employed Doctor Octopus, Bullseye, a few other rogues, and my friend Jade and I. We did what we were set out to do, and in my spare time I worked on a few projects of my own. One of the last jobs we had been sent to do was to destroy a few heros that kept interfering. (Surprise, surprise.) The heros were namely Sapphire Spider, Spider-Man, Daredevil, and a few other vigilantes that I honestly had never seen or heard of before. They were good though.” she said, taking a sip of her drink. ”Anyway, we all had set up a bit of a trap for the group. As expected they all showed up, but only a few of them were caught. The ones who weren’t tried to fight us or free their friends. Things became fairly chaotic, everyone was pretty focused on their foe.” she continued, then a faint smile curled around her lips. ”It was an excellent opportunity for me to lure Sapphire away from everyone else. And since everyone else had a playmate except for me, it was fairly easy to do. I slipped away in a slightly obvious escape attempt, and she followed to try and catch me. Hm, hm. All I had to do was lead her to the right spot, and I could test out all of the other little projects that I had been working on in my spare time. Enough well placed bombs, poisons, robots, and anything else I’d gotten my hands on, scattered in various locations that could cause considerable amount of innocent blood to be spilled all over the street. Each timed to go off at a different time, or kill in a robot’s case. Just enough to keep her rushing back and forth, while trying to fight me off, to the point of exhaustion. And that’s the thing with her. Once she’s used up too much energy or worn herself out too much, she’ll just collapse. Shut down for a good hour or so. Depends on the severity. After she was out, I took her back to my little club house so that she could see my final project.”//gonna use a part from a rp me and saph did after the original rp died.//

The twisted, sinister, evil grin that has become Joker's trademark spread across his face. This settled it: even if he killed everyone else in the room, Gossamer was going to live. He liked the tactic. It was brilliant. She used her hero's known personality against her, and planned for that very event. he could actually see himself working alongside her. He got excited at the mention of her 'final project'. THIS should prove interesting...

Blackstone turned his thoughts away from his world and back to this one. He glanced over at Gossamer and listened, a small grin forming as she went. That certainly sounded like Sapphire. He had to admit, this girl was clever.

EDIT: Gossamer noted Jokers smile as she paused and smiled a bit herself. Had to admit, she was loving all the attention. ”I took her to this large building in the middle of the city that had generously been given to me not too long before. I had everything ready and set up on the top floor waiting for her. I strapped her down to a table that I had sitting up in the middle of the room in front of large windows looking out over the city. Then hooked up a few other pieces of machinery that I had borrowed and tinkered with and waited for her to wake up. Once she did, she of course tried to use those strands of hers to break free. She found out quickly that using her powers was going to do more harm than good. After she recovered enough from the electric shock to understand me, I explained what all I had her hooked up to.” she continued. ”One; any bit of out of the ordinary brainwaves, which I figured was how she used her powers, and one machine would send a wave of electricity through her skull. Two; the way I had her hooked up, the more she struggled, the tighter the restraints would become. Then to kill some time, I thought I’d explain what all was going to happen to her, and part of the city that she was looking out onto.” she said before taking another sip of her drink. ”I had the entire room rigged for if and when her friends came for her. Should they come, they would have no way of getting into the room without killing her. Motion sensors and lasers were set up around the room. Anything that passed through would trigger another machine I had set up on the table. The farther something entered the room, the tighter the vice grip would become, as well as an electrical current that flowed through it. I even had the window rigged for Spider-Man. If he landed on it or broke through it, it would be the same as if he were in the room. As for the city, well I knew how much she liked kids and old folks and such, so I thought I’d set up the last of my toys in a few selected buildings. Hospitals, schools, orphanages, you get the idea. Some of them were close enough to each other that I thought I’d set up a bit of a domino effect. All right in front of her for her to see when the time came." she finished. Then she grinned and shook her head a bit. "Had everything gone right, I'd planned on keeping her around for a while. Leave her strapped there for a couple days and I could come back and poke at her when I felt like it. Then when I got tired of that I was going to just sell her to my employer.”

Thinking to himself that this was the point right before things STOPPED going according to plan, Joker leaned forward, intent on catching every detain he could, on the off-chance that he himself ran into this Sapphire Spider. Her ingenuity was remarkable. She'd have done VERY well for herself in Gotham City, he felt.

"Her friends found a way to free her?" Blackstone asked. With everything the girl said, he knew that Sapphire had no way of using her powers. And as good as she was with fighting, without her powers she was pretty much nothing. Even with the training he'd put he through while she was with him, he doubted she could have broken free of what Gossamer had her trapped to. An outside interferrance had to be the only other alternative.

Gossamer smirked and took another sip of her drink. "Something like that. There were a few things that I hadn't taken into consideration." she replied. "While waiting for the explosives to go off, a few of her friends did manage to find her. Daredevil and Spider-man arrived, and both realized that they couldn't enter the room. Rather than just standing there making small talk, I thought I'd play with them while I waited as well. With the risk of killing Sapphire if they entered the room, I actually had a bit of an advantage fighting them. My friend Jade soon arrived as well to help take them down. Late as usual, but he still showed up. Everything happend as I had planned on up to about that point." she said a bit of a smirk. "I now had Daredevil and Spider-Man as well, and we were paid to kill them, so I figured that could be something else for Sapphire to watch. Unfortunatly some of my other 'partners' found us as well. Ugh, heaven forbid if anyone besides the not-so-good doctor kills Spider-Man." she said with a bit of a groan. "Same with Bullseye and Daredevil. I really didn't care who killed those two, still being angry with being beaten, I guess they wanted to fight first and talk later. They actually started a fight in the room with both the heros and us. Wouldn't have minded it too much, Sapphire was in agony the entire time, but they were being recklace. One of Ock's metal ams smashed part of the equipment hooked up to Sapphire. Eventually the boys took their fight outside and I could finally turn my attention back to Sapphire. Fix the machine if she wasn't already dead. I thought she was at first. The vice grip was over half closed from what it was, and she wasn't moving. There wasn't any sign that she was breathing either, so I unhooked her to tie her up to something else while I fixed the machine. The second the restraints came off I found myself against the wall on the other side of the room. Once I realized what had happened, she'd already ripped off the wires attatched to her head and spine. Now she was able to use her powers again." she continued, then frowned a bit. "With all she'd been put through, she was exhausted. It would have been easy to take her down again. But she was angry. Really angry. Found out that no matter how tired she is, she fights hard and she fights dirty when she's mad. I knew that she could use her sapphire strands to slice through things, but i'd never seen her use them on anyone like that before. And she'd catch me a few times with them, or those creepy spider leggs, and slam me into the wall on the opposite end of the room. She wasn't giving me any time to react or use my powers. Heck, she even tossed me out the window." she said then sighed. "Spider-Man had to catch me from hitting the pavement. Once I could think enough to use my powers, it was nothing to get away from them. I found out later that those other heros had located and dissabled my toys in the other buildings. And Sapphire had passed out again after she'd tossed me out the window."

"Hmph... stupid heroic allies... ALWAYS ruining the fun..." Joker sat back again, having thoroughly enjoyed the story. "Well, that was good, VERY good, in fact, but I'm sorry to say that it WILL be outdone. Alright, now, in the interest of fairness, I believe it's your turn, Pammy..."

Doomsday wanted a break from his troubles and he could vaguely remember that humans liked to go to bars to drown themselves sort to speak in some kind of beverage. Doomsday wouldn't want to drown himself with a drink because then he couldn't drink it when he came back to life. Doomsday sat down at a stool and ordered something from the bar; he didn't technically drink, eat, or sleep, but that wouldn't stop him from trying alcohol.
"The biggest strongest drink you have...For free...Now!"
Doomsday yelled at the barkeep with his right fist up leaned over the counter. There wasn't much choice in the matter for the barkeeper, so he started to prepare his drink. Doomsday turned with the stool to lean against the counter, everything creaking under his weight. Doomsday took the whole bowl of peanuts and gobbled them all down, crunching them with his crystal like teeth.
"Salty..."
Doomsday made quite a mess of peanut shells from eating since his crystal teeth were what he tried to chew them with instead of his actual teeth. Doomsday looked at the bowl for a moment and took a bite out of that next. It didn't taste as good as the peanuts, but Doomsday didn't eat regularly since he didn't need to; this was all for enjoyment.

Blackstone couldn't help but let a satisfied and almost pleased grin make it's way across his face. "She still has some anger issues then." he said more to himself. He supposed that she had him to thank for Sapphire's little outburst. That's the way he had trained her to fight, but she only seemed to do so when she became angry, which surprisingly wasn't as often as thought would be. At least it wasn't, he wasn't sure how calm she still was in this world. With everything he'd put her through while she worked with him, he was surprised with how much emotion she repressed, and how strong it was when she finally released it all. He glanced over at the bar a moment and seen another creature looking man. Interesting...perhaps non-human was more common in this world than it was in his.

Ivy glanced at Doomsday, and spent a few seconds wondering if going back out in the rain would be a good idea after all; she'd been watching during that epic fight. The whole world had been. She'd seen what he could do, namely make Superman so close to dead that he ended up in a tomb. "Um..." What? Oh, her story. "I think I'll wait a bit," she said languidly, tapping her lower lip thoughtfully with one slender finger, "Still sorting through all of my stories; there are just so many that end up with someone else saving him. I need a couple more minutes to pick." She took a slow sip of water. "Doomsday could go, although I think we all already know what his story's going to be, or Mr. Blackstone could tell us about this Arachnis person's closest call."

Gossamer's smile returned as she glanced back over at Joker. With the ending her story had, she hadn't planned on it being the best. Heh, it would have been even worse had they been there to see it. She glanced over at the bar as well and starred at the man a moment. What on earth...some type of mutant? Oof, not someone to get into a tangle with anyway, even if she could avoid physical attacks at this point. She frowned a bit. Had she had this new ability when she had sapphire, there would have been no way for her to get beaten like that.

Joker turned, and saw Doomsday, possibly the one being more feared in his Universe than himself. This guy beat the Big Blue Boy Scout so close to death, everyone thought that he WAS dead. Not even Joker could do that. "Hey, Doomsday! Come over here! Join us, why don't you? It'll be fun!" To be honest with himself, he had no idea why he invited him over, but it seemed like a good idea, so he ran with it. "As a matter of fact, Pammy, I don't think Gossamer knows who he is..." He then turned to the woman, asking, "Do you?"
Killer Croc was too busy watching Doomsday to pay attention to anything else. He thought to himself, 'Damn, the one person who could legitimately annihilate me without so much as batting an eye... Damn, damn, damn...'
(( Yeah, I'm definitely retiring Croc after this RP is done; I don't know him well enough... ))

((Killer Croc is intelligent and a brute, deadly combination if used correctly.))
"Why do I want to tell a story everyone already knows?"Doomsday wasn't in the mood to just destroy this place; he got enough of that when he was in Metropolis and he didn't feel hatred he, more relaxed actually. No one ever wanted to listen to him, he was always the monster everyone feared and hated for doing what he did best, but not the other villains; fear and respect were a very close thing. Doomsday sat up from the stool he was sitting on and walked over to the table Joker and the others were at. Grabbing a seat, he sat down; the seat buckling under his weight. "Kryptonians are like cockroaches: even with their planet blown up, they still seemed to be the pests of the universe, getting involved in everyone's business."Superman had robbed Doomsday of his change to be intelligent long ago when he fought Grog. Back at that time, Doomsday was much smarter than his past self and it took many more deaths to even get to the intelligence he was at now. Doomsday picked a piece of glass out of his mouth and continued speaking. "I suppose I could tell the story on how I supposedly killed Superman...Though forgive me if I make assumptions; those were my blunt years..."Doomsday wasn't really sure how to tell a story; he had seen so many things during his life time, even the end of time at one point where he was cast to the designated point in the universe were everything was just a massive concentration of heat called Entropy. Then there was the arrival of the four new Superman's after the original one went to sleep for awhile. "Do you really want me to tell it?"
