FrggysBabyGrl I tried to be a vegitarian, but I couldn't do it. I just see meat everywhere and its just so hard. I think I need help. Well, if you want to try it again, there's always immitation meat products (morning star = teh best). And try to cut back slowly instead of going veg over night is supposed to help. I guess cut out red meat first, then pork, then chicken and then fish. Also, it's a good idea to raid the grocery store and find good vegetarian food that you can eat. And invest in a good vegetarian recipe book (you can buy one at a used book store even). Try lots of different vegetarian foods that you wouldn't have before. Tofu (despite the fact that everyone says it's gross even though they've never had it before) is actually very good. And joining an online vegetarian community can help too since they're going through the same things you are. 3nodding

The mai reason people hate tofu is that no one knows how to cook it properly, so it gets this funky, soft consistency.

freeze little tofu cubes (1 inch by 1 inch) over night and then thaw them and marinate them (i just use bbq sauce cause we dumpster dove a bunch and have to use it all up) then i make a beer batter for them (flour, spices, beer, and a little sugar) and fry them...yummy

Though at times I have thought about becoming a vegetarian, as I do not eat that much meat anyway, I don't think I'll ever make that decision. Humans evolved as omnivores, and I believe that it's healthier to eat meat, though in small amounts, than to be vegetarian, though of course organic food should be eaten at all times, whether animal or vegetable. I find it rather ironic that in your general supermarket in the US foods are labeled differently if they are organic, but in Europe special labels are needed if food has chemicals added!

I don't think I have any good reason not to move to the Netherlands. 4laugh

Jeeze, that rocks! I agree with you about humans being omnivorious, but I don't agree with eating mat being healthIER. Emphasis on IER. I think that meat based, grain based, vegetable based and fruit based diets are all just simply different lifestyles; all with thier own benefits. I'm vegan and I totally dig meat myself. I'm also thinking about going FREEgan. Seems to me that it's more important to make sure that food doesn't go to waste. After being in a store closing and seeing so much stuff getting just thrown away, I definitely think we should clean the crap out of our holes before we start digging new ones. You know what I mean?
