Aw Hund, try not to stress! Otherwise you won't be able to enjoy the big day as much? I'm sure it will be perfect. You're not doing all the planning by yourself, I hope?

Almost everything. biggrin I'm the type who doesn't like to give responsibility too much to others. But I've delegated most of smaller things around. Now I just try to remember who has promised to do what. wink Now I'm on fire on planning and making things.

As the Day comes, I've promised to forget everything and just let my close friends worry if there is something to worry about. twisted

That's the right attitude!!! For example, during my sister's wedding, the ring bearer ( our 3 year old cousin) freaked out walking down the aisle when he realized his Mom was sitting in the congregation. First he froze, then he cried a little, and then he just dived into her lap (she was like 4 people in from the aisle). It was just a cute little mishap. I love that memory! wink So I am really glad that it happened.

I know that your wedding will be lovely because you have been working hard to make it so.

What kind of party are you having? Is is dinner or buffet or tapas?

Still apartment hunting. I wonder if I'm being too picky. sad But after what I endured in my Portland apartment, I feel I deserve to be at least a little picky!
PostPosted: Thu Jul 02, 2009 11:28 pm

Uuhhgg! I forgot!!! Apartment hunting is the bleakest task!!! Why are all the apartments so, well, bleak?!? No, you absolutely deserve to shop around ~ except the shopping around itself ~ only evil people deserve that unpleasantness! lol

What I am trying to say is that you deserve the best place out there in the market at a good deal on top of it. But I feel for you having to ascertain the best place out there because I remember that that is a yucky task. My mom & I were talking about this a while ago . . . It is a mystery to us why shopping for shoes is fun, but shopping for apartments just NOT.

Well, I'm sending hugs of encouragement to you. What are the glitches you are seeing so far?

Thanks for the encouragement hugs; I need it!

Well, the last place I looked at I got all excited about, because it was only $415 a month for a 2 bedroom. Which is incredibly cheap. It was also incredibly dirty, so no wonder. And the guy wanted an $800 deposit. I'm sorry, I don't want to pay an extra $800 just to move into a dump. What is it with "Move-in" fees, anyway? They never actually help you move in, so what are you paying for? Bleh. There are 2 more places to look at in Oregon, and then I'm giving up and just going over to Walla Walla. I didn't want to have to move to Washington (even though I work there and it would probably be closer) because I've been an Oregon resident for a decade, and I don't feel like the hassle of changing my driver's license and plates and all that junk. Plus the rent seems to be cheaper in Oregon.

BLAH I say.

Speaking of shoe-shopping, I just bought teh CUTEST pair of heels. And wore them to work. Which was majorly dumb and painful. >.< Just thought I'd share.

LOL!!! Oahhhh! I should send you the foot-tape stuff they use in Basic Training that Nevvy won't have to use now. (except that I never got around to buying some in the first place) I HATE that about new shoes. Everything else about new shoes I LOVE!!!

Yep. Those are exactly the kind of examples that happen during apartment shopping which make it not fun. Just keep scouring the papers & do check out those other two. The last time I went through it, I was moving from yucky Sacramento area to blissful Hermosa Beach (which is like Santa Monica but w/out the social snobbery & pressure ~ using "Santa Monica as a catch-all for the whole LA stereotype). I found that every apartment in that town was older than my parents and cliche dive-y. One was a block and a half from the ocean and 15% a month more than the other. The one I lived in for 3 1/2 years was about 12 blocks from the ocean, but up a steep hill which provided a wonderful view. Plus the first one did not allow dogs (I would have lived there w/ Pumk ~ but who needs that kind of stress?!?) but the one I chose allowed her and even liked her.

Once I became accustomed to the idea of living in a dive, then it was easier to decide which to pick. The dirty apartment could be cleaned ~ but sleazy neighbors (which may or may not include the landlord) doesn't change.

Ooh! Ooh! And another tip about living in a dump: I wouldn't try to un-dump it. Instead I would try to glorify its dumpiness either into its former vogue or by turning it into a joke. For example I put a series of pretty silver frames with pictures of my happiest moments in them in a border all around the fuh-ugly wall heater unit thingy. When my mom saw it she said, "Wow! That looks good. It kind of makes you not care that the wall heater thingy is so passe." Since that was the first thing visible upon opening the front (& only) door, I was pleased to have pulled off the attention switch. (I'm going to see if I have a decent picture to post to show you that.) redface Oops! Sorry! No picture. The one I thought had it in the view stops just before.

Seriously the neighbors are much more important than the building. I was sincerely sad to leave my dive-y beach apartment when I moved back to my house here.

Do you think your brother would let you use his address to keep your residency? I know it might not be that big of a deal. But somethings just matter to you. And you shouldn't feel badly that they do matter.

Well the dirt wasn't the only thing that turned me off about the complex. Dirt can be cleaned and I have lived in dives before. I really didn't like the look of the manager (I mean he came to the "office" door in bathrobe and slippers), and the whole complex looked run-down and just slummy.

My last place was pretty much a dive as well. There was this really tacky fake fireplace/heater that was also the only source of heat for everything except the bedroom, and it finally stopped working. So the maintenance guy ripped it out of the wall and installed a newer range heater. But he didn't bother to patch up the hole or paint over the old wallpaper that was revealed when he took the old heater out. When I asked if he planned on doing anything, he handed me a can of paint and a brush and said "Have fun!" I ended up re-painting the whole apartment because newer paint always looks a shade off from the old, even if it's the same paint. >.<

Ah well. I don't care so much for looks as long as things work and the management is decent. And there aren't drug busts and drive-by shootings every other night.

About keeping my Oregon residency in Washington...eh, it's really not THAT big of a deal. Plus I'd feal like I was breaking the law in some way and guilt myself out of it. The farthest I may decide to go is keep my Oregon driver's license so I can keep buying stuff tax-free in Washington for a while! xD

An update on my feet: now I know for sure which foot is bigger. My left foot feels fine, but the back of my right heel appears to have been flayed by that diabolical cute shoe. Why are the cutest shoes always so painful! gonk

Schutzhund, Happy Wedding Day!!! When was/is it?!?
PostPosted: Tue Aug 11, 2009 12:31 pm

Three days ago. I'm now a real lady. biggrin

Wedding was great and I was the most relaxed person around. x) There was coincidences such as priest being unclear of one piece of the ceremony so it didn't happen. (Selected family members and friend saying prayer - they didn't notice the mark to say their parts) And some other little funny things, but it all made it just more memorable.

I truly enjoyed myself as a bride. I had my knife at church. I wore mainly black. My hair is/was flaming red. I couldn't stop wondering how good taste on men I have. heart
