Terrie's chest heaved, her pulse sky high. Her eyes winced at the blood on Emris' chest. "Are you okay?" She asked, wrapping her arms around him and walked him back to the house. "They should be fine. They're rattled and worried." She fought back her own tears, shaking as the adrenaline went down. "Do you think it's gone for good?" She asked, peeking back at the woods as they hurried back to the house.

Mersi rocked slightly, the wolf's growls echoing still in her ears. "That was scary." She whispered, eyes closed tightly.

"I'm fine." Emris replied hiding the small wince of pain. But really the foxtaur's nerves were calmed as soon as he saw that his family was safe. He squeezed Terrie comfortingly, "Yeah. But I'll go and make sure later with Xennek. No worries."

"But it's okay." Replied Leif snuggling into his sister, "You're safe here. We're home after all and they went to take care of it." His tail wrapped around them both as he held his sister.

Terrie nodded. That made her feel better. She knew with both Emris and Xennek looking, that wolf couldn't hide anywhere nearby. In the house, she gave her kids another hug. "The wolf is gone. It's gone. I'll get a warm bath ready for you two. You're safe now. My brave babies." She hurried to the bathroom before the tears could fall, sobs shaking her body as she filled the tub. In her memory, she'd never known such fear as when she'd seen her children, then her mate in danger.

Mersi started to calm, her breath smoother though her throat was parched. "Thank you Leif." She whispered, hugging him tightly. She looked up in relief as her parents came in, gasping when her mom left and she saw Emris. "Daddy!" She whined at the blood, but wouldn't let go of Leif.

"Da-!" Cried Leif as his eyes widened at the sight of his father's blood. His hands shook from feelings that filled his small body, twisting his gut into anger. How dare that thing touch his father?! A small growl formed in his throat but he shook his head. It was fine for now. "Are...are you okay?"

Emris grimaced before forcing a wide smile for his dear children. "Daddy's just fine." He sighed and patted both of them with his cleaner hand, "Now let's just not go outside without mommy or daddy anymore today, kay?" Emris turned and started searching in the cabinets for any bandages. Then looking over his shoulder to his son, Emris waved his hand. "How 'bout you and Mersi go help Mommy set up the bath?"

Leif nodded and grabbed his sister's hand, "Kay!" Standing up he tugged at Mersi and smiled, "Come on, Mersi." His tail flicked behind him, 'after all it's okay now.'

Mersi sniffed and nodded, clinging to Leif's hand. "Sorry daddy." She whispered. "I didn't mean to..." She stuck her thumb in her mouth and followed quietly after Leif.

Terrie had her cries under control by the time the kids got there and she smiled encouragingly through puffy eyes. "There you are. Here's a nice warm bath. Just the thing to calm us down." She scooped the kids into a hug before setting them into the water. She bit her lip, seeing how Mersi refused to let go of Leif. She hoped her daughter would be alright. Trying to smile, she scooped up handfuls of the water and let it run soothingly down their backs. "You two were very good out there. If something is trying to hurt you, always yell as loud as you can. I'm proud of you both." She spoke slowly and calmly, both for the children's benefits and her own.

Emris sighed heavily and leaned against the counter. A small curse left his lips as he fiddled with the bandages. He secretly wanted to go and comfort his family, but he had noticed how the cut worried them. The last thing he wanted was for it to get infected as well, that'd just cause more problems. Another long sigh as Emris pulled water from the fireplace and dipping a rag into the warm water he went to fixing his small wound up.

"Okay." Replied Leif as he tried relaxing in the water. Still his mind raced with images of that wolf and Mersi. 'I'll get stronger.' He thought looking at his sister, 'So I can protect everyone.' His tail moved violently in the water splashing his sister and mother. "Oops."

Terrie smiled at Leif and nodded, running her hand through his hair. She could see the strange determination on his face, and she could guess what he was thinking. "You'll grow big and strong like your daddy. I have no doubt of that." She said playfully, tickling Leif's belly after he splashed them.

Mersi looked at her brother. "Me too momma. I wanna be big an' stwong, too." Suddenly, Mersi was angry. As much anger as a child could feel. She hated that fear she had felt. She hated that she had gotten daddy hurt. Nearly gotten herself and Leif killed. She wouldn't let that happen again...
She didn't show it, but her grip on her brother's hand tightened in her anger at herself. Then she let go of his hand and started cleaning herself up.

"Heh!" Giggled Leif before looking over to his sister in surprise. "Mersi?" He whispered softly with confusion. Her grip had hurt him, and he worried about what she was thinking. 'No, Mersi won't have to worry.' he told himself silently before splashing Mersi again. Maybe some play would lighten things back up?

Terrie was happy that Leif was feeling better. Mersi though.. She started rubbing the girl's back gently. "Here. I'll go see what's keeping your dad. Play nicely." She got up and watched them a moment before heading for Emris and the kitchen.
"How is it?" She asked, touching his shoulder.

Mersi blinked at Leif, then smiled slightly. "It okay Leif. We be okay now." She knew what she would have to do. She needed to be tough. Strong. Independant. But her family couldn't know. the other girls she knew wanted to be delicate and fragile. Well, not anymore.
She splashed back at Leif. She would pretend everything was alright. She didn't want to be scared like that ever again... She'd show them...

((O= Time skip soon to next couple of days or teenage hood or something?))
Emris contained his surprise at Terrie's sudden presence with a small smile. "Like I said...it's fine really." He touched her hand and stretched his arms backwards to prove a slightly painful point. The bandages had traces of blood and he suddenly stopped for fear of opening the wound worse. "See?"

Emris's tail drooped though as he looked pointedly down the hallway, "Are...are they having a nice bath?" He asked softly, concern all over his face.

"Of course, silly!" Replied Leif with a forced grin as he splashed Mersi back. Then he took a deep breath and suddenly dived under the water where he blindly reached out for Mersi's tail or paw whichever he found first.

"I hope you and Xennek find that thing. I don't want it out there anymore." Her free hand tenderly tracing over the bandage, she kissed his hand before following his gaze down the hall. "I think they'll be alright. Nothing physical. They're your children Emris. They'll bounce back before we know it." She smiled encouragingly.
"Come on. Don't get too close to the bath yet. We don't want your bandage getting wet. You'll have to take a bath too when that seals over more." She said with a semi-forced giggle as she led Emris to the bathroom and the children, still shaken from all that had happened.

Mersi splashed again. "Hey! I can't splash you now." She complained as he went under, squeaking when her tail was caught. "I get you." She said, reaching around to grab Leif's tail.
Maybe when she was big enough, and strong enough, she could go after that beastie herself...?

((We can go to their teens. Be able to do more with them then. They'll probably become adults soon XD ))

((xD Alright. :3 ))

"Ah, that's true." Replied Emris tenderly as he followed Terrie. He forced a playful sigh though right before they entered, "Aww, but baths are so nice!" Yet while he chuckled, his hand had found Terrie's and he gripped it comfortingly. "Everything will be fine." He whispered already planning of what him and Xennek must do.

Bubbles came from Leif's mouth and the small child had to quickly emerge for air. "Nooo!" He cried wiggling around trying to free his tail before diving back under. Being under water was fun, and if he closed his eyes Leif could already make out floating images of his family. Everything had happened fast, but next time he'd be ready and maybe if he was strong enough there would never be a next time...

((Unless you had something else you wanted to do first, I feel now would be a good time for the time skip. Just tell me if you wanted otherwise and I'll edit it.))

Spring had become summer, which swiftly changed to a colorful fall and a white winter. Winter was now melting into a new spring. The weather was warm with a light breeze, and Terrie had spent the entire morning working on the garden with her daughter. With a stretch she looked up at the sun and smiled. "Mersi, I'm going to get lunch ready. Finish up here and make sure the boys know." With that she went inside, cleaning herself in the small basin and heading to the cellar, a slight bit bare from the winter. Luckily, spring was here and they could soon restock.

Mersi looked up. "Okay mom." The young teen was planting an orange tree for herself. When she figured her mom was preoccupied with lunch, she had the tree done and snuck off for a minute into the woods. Making sure no one was around, she pulled aside some bark and reached into a hole in one of the trees, pulling out a small dagger. She'd found it at the market and had bought it with the little money she had at the time. Mersi stroked it lightly, tenderly. Turning, she made a small bag of dirt and practiced stabbing and slashing as it hung from a branch.

((T'is fine. :3 Emris is around...somewhere. XD wink )

Bubbles swirled around Leif and the foxtaur found himself drifting into a light sleep as the water moved around him relaxing aching muscles. If he closed his eyes, Leif could imagine the world going back to his childhood as he would play in this very creek but with both his siblings. A small grin flickered across his features as he barely opened an eye to gaze at the clear blue sky that watched over him as he floated in the stream.

Splashes rippled the water as Leif flipped over in the deep part and finally stood, his paws digging into the soft sand at the stream's bottom. Taking a deep breath the teen finally walked up and reaching a small fall of water he stuck his head under and stayed there in the icy water until he couldn't feel his fingers. "Co-ld!" Leif laughed before splashing back towards shore, he definitely would need to dry off now after that small 'bath.' A small smile as he judged the sun's position and started walking back to the trees, 'I can dry off as I walk back towards home. It's probably about time to eat after all.'

Mersi smirked, eyeing the torn and ragged bag, now empty of it's insides. She imagined it was the wolf hanging there, insides spilling onto the ground. She still didn't know what had happened to it, for her parents stopped any discussion about it a week after the incident. She hoped that meant it was still out there, waiting for her.
Cleaning off the blade, she tenderly wrapped it back up and placed it in the hole, covering it with the bark. Brushing off and stretching, she returned to the garden and faced where she thought Lief might be and yelled in the general direction. "Lief! Come for lunch!" And snickered, listening to Terrie scold her from the window about yelling for her brother instead of just going to him.
