Huntress Starsong
Vice Captain

She was lost in her own thoughts, about the day's hunt, about how ill she still felt, weak and shakey. Her mind drifted as she tried to sort out what had happened to her during the hunt, when the beast was killed. The beast that Peyote was preparing as she stood there and wondered.

She didn't hear Savith approach until he was already there, talking to her. Uncharacteristically she jumped at his words as her normally pale cheeks flushed with embarrassment at being caught off guard. She felt a cold chill, her fever was still low, but the absence of her hair made it seem a lot colder.

She nodded once at Savith in reply, her thoughts scattering to the corners of her mind so that she did not dare dwell on them while he was around. She was confused, and did not want anybody to see her weakness. She continued to watch the frivolity that was around her with a small frown on her face.

Savith quirked a brow at the uncharacteristic jump from the huntress, a light frown threatening. His head tilted to one side slightly as he studied her with that hawk-like intensity. "Hungry," he asked, voice deep.

BlazingRock

PostPosted: Fri Feb 13, 2009 9:32 pm

Blaze jumped to his feet from where he'd been lying in the sand warmed by the heat of the day, a laugh on his tongue and his familiar good-natured smile on his face. "Whoo-ra! Munchies!" A shake of his hips and roll of his sholders, and he padded happily over towards Pey and Creek. "I could eat a zwoot. Are we eatin' zwoot? Hah! Hair and all!" Slumping roughishly over a convenient rock, he eyed Creek upsidown. **I knew you'd like it better here once the sun came out.**

Dew's nose continued to twitch as she sent back to Dancer, *Yeah, easy for you to say.* she sneezed again, but was determined to keep playing, after she found Fathom. Right there! Dew smiled as she spotted the familiar wavedancer and began swimming out towards her, but the call for dinner came before she could reach the wavedancer. And Dew wasn't sure what she wanted more, but since dinner consisted largely of cooked meat (she doesn't know if Pey left any uncooked) Dew chose the wavedancer. *Fathom, you'll come feast with us right!* Dew's happy send was a fact, not a question. *Do you like cooked meat? Or do you only like fish food?* She wasn't sure what the wavedaner would eat, after all, she hadn't met a wavedancer before.

Creek Runner

Creek gave a little half-grin to Blaze, *Not the sun. It was the flower.* While he locksent to Blaze, his eyes stayed on Pey, but only briefly. After getting his share of looking, he turned a glare to Blaze, "No Zwoot." His voice was low and filled with steel, as if saying, 'Don't you even joke or I'll hurt you'. The plainsrunner had a high respect for zwoots, like a wolfrider's for their wolves.

She shook her head no, but her stomach grumbled at the mention of food, betraying her lie. She let out a soft sigh and continued to watch the others in there merriment. She wanted to go back to her den and be alone. The fears returned and she slid down to a crouch and looked at the ground.

She felt like she was loosing her mind, something was happening to her and she was afraid. She trembled slightly in the warm summer evening.

Llune
Crew

PostPosted: Sat Feb 14, 2009 4:23 pm

When Peyote called everyone to eat, Llune busied herself assisting the desert flower with portioning and passing out the plates to whoever came by, pouring drinks, or anything else that would assist Peyote in the dinner duties. Greeting each as they arrived, Llune offered them a smile and a welcome and promptly passed on whatever food or drink was in her possession. Llune's overall demeanor was festive and energetic, her earlier spill and the awkwardness of the Pey-Creek smooshy moment completely forgotten in the excitement of the beginnings of a feast!

Peyote laughed at Blaze as she gave Llune the chuck of cooked meat to portion to everyone, moving instead to get the carefully preserved raw meat for the wolfriders. "No, we aren't eating zwoot," she retorted brightly, laughter in her voice. "It's that pig you and Starsong brought, and whatever anyone else brought," she added, taking a chunk of meat to Dewpaw. It was wrapped ina flat leaf to keep the blood from getting on Pey.

Meanwhile, away from the festivities, Savith watched Starsong slump down to that crouch by the ground, hawk-eyes spotting her trembles. He took one step closer and dropped to join her in a crouch near the ground, voice hardly audible. "What is it," he asked with an almost uncharacteristic concern.

Fathom smiled at Dancer, a bit impressed the land loving elfess was able to swim out to them. "Maybe you land elves could show us something you do when you are happy as well." She had promised to Crosscurrent she would be kind to the Cat Elf and would stick to her word. Fathoms attention was then drawn to Dew Paw's send. *Yes minnow, I will come try some things you enjoy and I have brought some things Wavedancers enjoy.* Her send chuckled and fluttered with happiness.

**Don't get yer ears in a knot. I was just making a joke. But sometimes you do have to eat one, you know?** Creek's threat didn't do much to bother Blaze, content as he was. Accepting his portion of meat with a nod and grin of thanks, he tore into it with relish, finding he much liked the taste of the branch-horned thing. **And I figured it was the flower. Good for you, eh?**

Dewpaw nodded, *Did you bring the eight-legged thing again? That was wierd. But I never got to have any. Blaze cooked it. And I don't like meat cooked. It tastes funny when its cooked.* Dew stopped where she was, she hadn't made it all the way to Fathom, and it seemed like the wavedancers were coming to shore, so Dew decided she'd better hurry and get her share. She could smell raw meat over the salt, and it was drawing her in. Dew had accepted cooked meat before, because sometimes that's all there was. But raw would always be the best in her book. *I'll see you at shore, Fathom!* she sent as she swam, not wanting the salt water to get in her mouth.

As she got to the shore, Pey was already giving her food, raw, the best. "Thank you, Pey!" she chirped cherrfully as she bit into the welcomed food.

He was close, she could smell him and a wave of nostalgia brought her back, to her holt, her home. The sensation sweeping over her, she could not resist the gentle voice.

She remembered the brain fever, the sickness that took the life of her parents. She remembered them ranting and raving, remember having to tie them to their beds so they did not flee from the tree. She didn't know how it felt as she never became sick, but she imagined that if she could know how it would feel, it would feel like something she felt right now.

"i'm sick" she whispered to Savith, her voice cracked from misuse. She dared not send to him, dared not allow her mind in her weakened state to be touched by another. Even as she spoke to him, she felt the low humming again, and the urge to hunt, to seek out that which she can feel in her mind, being out there, in the woods, maybe even watching her.

Hunt or be hunted, that is the law of the prey. And she would not succumb to it.

Creek accepted the food from Llune with a nod, lowering his head enough as if to show a bow of respect. He looked down at the sand as he ripped into the meat. *Sorry. I had no cause to... act that way.* he sent privately to Blaze, honestly meaning it. He had over-reacted. He figured it was becuase he was seperated from his own zwoot, one he had cared for, but he was still made at reacting in such a way.

Autumns joy

PostPosted: Mon Feb 16, 2009 7:01 pm

The smell of the meat both cooked aand raw made Autumns mouth water. Seeing Dewpaw scoot her way back to shore and get food made a light laugh fill Autumns head. *Don't you eat all the meat.* her mind directed at Dew but was still open as she walked in the water back to the beach. She shook herself and sent water flying over anyone near her. Then going to sit near the fire to dry Autumn watched the meat cook. Watching juices drip into the fire with a sizzle. She wanted it. So cooked it seemed would be in her belly tonight.
