Grishmak rolled over which brought him startlingly close to the newcomer. He stayed silent for a moment, carefully observing her and carefully thinking over his next words. Get under her skin or be respectful? Or perhaps a combination of both? A purr-like sound of amusement rumbled from deep in his throat.

"Geez lady, your personality is worse than Tarkeths'. I'd much rather spend time in the company of that grouch-face than you," the Tainted had felt no need to comment directly back at her stab at carriers of the Taint. Foolish child.

"Ha! I bet this isn't even your house dear. In fact, what human would kick their own door in? That, or you're stupid," came Thara's irritable reply.

Avalene paused a moment, mentally counting seconds in her mind. When she reached five she dropped her gaze, looking at everyone in the room from beneath the shadow of her veil.

"I'd get out of here, if I were you," she said, "Ownership of property is moot for dragons... they don't live long in the Borderlands if they're caught out in the middle of human territory like this."

She smiled and chuckled softly.

"Believe me, I've seen dragon hunters... befo-"

The woman stopped mid-sentence, her eyes suddenly losing their focus. They seemed fever-bright underneath her veil, the blue iris growing pale. She staggered, her back hitting the wall, and numb fingers dropped her spear. She struggled to breath.

"Deep forest," she gasped, "Predators of predators... stay away from the deep forest. He'll find you."

Then she doubled over, coughing, and when she drew her hand away there were a few droplets of blood. But oddly enough, even in her obvious distress, she radiated no emotion. It was like a blank spot to a vampire's senses.

Grishmak sniffed irritably, giving the girl a look of mild annoyance. Really there was no reason for him to stay, this house had nothing good to offer. Being harassed by an insane, angry woman really wasn't appealing. He'd rather face the dregs of the rain than sit around here. Even Thara seemed to be getting bored of this. Plus, Grishmak was full. Thara would have to deal with her hunger. If she wanted, she could go pick off a straggler human in the woods.

"We're going, we're goi--," growled Thara after a quick scan of her companions thoughts, but was stoped by Avalene's sudden change.

"Strike me down where I stand Narktu, a real prophet," gasped the female vampire.

Scratch that last thought. Letting Thara pick off a straggler in the woods was a bad idea.

"Great. Just what I need. Another complication in life. Who the hell wants us dead now?"
