hansd22 BAD oboe players. I know some Freakin' awesome Oboeists and they can stay. Oh, that and the electric triangle. It's like sticking a 12-volt battery to your tongue times at least seven-and-a-half. stare Not that I know this from first-hand experience or anything... hmmm... ok just the horrible oboeists who cant play

i think no instrument should be banned but cretain notes should lol if your eardrums have ever buzzed for the entire period form a really discordant high note from the flutes/piccolos/clarinets you kno what i mean

SummerRepublic I personally think clarinets are pretty useless. Any other instrument can substitute for them and make it sound better. Less squeaking anyways. lol Any instument can squeak, they just do it in their own way dumbo! I think that the bagpipes should be banned.

ALL band people are sexy...
Honestly, you can't ban any of the instruments in my opinion. If you don't like one, whatever. It's your opinion and your taste/style of music.
Each instrument is important and they all have a different, beautiful sound. :3
Some of you say the recorder should be banned. Well, that's not an instrument. That's a plastic stick 4 years and younger play. XDDD Even THAT shouldn't be banned though. Kids have to start off somewhere right? XD
By the way, if you hear a squeaky clarient or an out of tune flute, it doesn't mean the instrument is bad. IT'S JUST THE PLAYERS. XDDD The instrument is where the bad sound COMES OUT but the PLAYER is the one who FORCES it to. Remember that. :3

Recorders are just...fail...nobody gets anywhere with the recorder. EVER. (Which is why I'm not putting it on my little list.)
Clarinets, probably.
They're just kinda...useless...
As stated before, you can replace them with any other instrument and it will sound twice as good >.>
The squeaking isn't a problem, though. (At least not if you're in a good band.)
Piccolo would come second.
Even if I play a rather mean Pic, if you're not the one playing, it hurts your ears.A lot.
This is even worse with horrible/beginner players.
Wait until you have FLUTE experience before you move on to the piccolo.
(And to the people who think open holed flutes are hard....how? I've been effortlessly playing my open-holed flute since way back in 6th grade, a year after I started playing. If you play the flute correctly, your fingers will already be in the position to cover the holes. If you cant cover the holes, you've been holding the flute somewhat incorrectly. >.> )

but how can you replace clarients and have it sound twice as good? I just don't get it. *shrug* Clarients have a different sound than any of the others. Nothing sounds like a clarient...
Now, I understand you have you're own opinion Kazzari; you like what you like, but you're explaination for why clarinets are useless doesn't fit.
I'm not trying to start a big stupid argument here, I'm JUST STATING FACT. :3

Hina Valkyrie Piccolos. @________@ They aren't instruments; they're a torture device! xD Oh, and open-holed flutes. x____x; Those are....like insanely hard to play (imo). .________. EDIT:: I would like to note that I play flute, and the only reason I don't play piccolo is because my money is being hoarded away for college. xD When I say torture device, I mean that it can be used as one if you want to sick dogs on someone. xDDDD As for the open hole flute... x.x; My fingers don't cooperate with me. o yea?!?! well closed-hole flutes feel like stipid peices of plastic!!!! XP open-hole is the way to go!!!! *is only mad because plastic hole-things were lost 3 years ago* trumpets should be banished because all players of trumpet(at my school) are jerks!!!

I play flute and it is a beautiful instrument if you know how to play it properly. Personally piccolos should be destroyed.

I think it's a shame that everyone says clarinets or other instruments are useless ... what about those solos you hear? You couldn't replace them with another instrument, that's just ridiculous! There's a reason certain instruments have certain parts ... it's not like they were like "let's just give them this even though they're useless." If they're useless, they wouldn't have them in the first place!!!
I wouldn't ban an instrument, like most of the others said, I'd ban the sucky players that don't care or don't give their all. Some sucky players suck because they're beginners so banning them would be pointless ... you have to start somewhere.

players who think they are good but are not and play out of tune and really loud and have everyone else leaning away should die
and the fiddle (screechy even in the hand of a good player) NOT VIOLIN (although i dont like it all the time)
