A tear rolled down Hikari's cheek; the only physical testament to the agony she felt. As darkness descended she became aware of someone else nearby. "Sure I almost die twice and when someone finally tries to fake it, I cry," she muttered. This came as a shock because it was supposed to be a thought. "That would be a sign of your own weakness," said a familiar voice from behind her. Hikari whirled and marveled at her ability to move. She did not recognize the figure for it was wrapped in a veil of shadow. The voice, however was shockingly familiar to her. "I didn't expect you to show up so soon," Hikari said, folding her arms. "Neither did I," said the Presence from among the shadows. "I would have thought you couldn't survive in this terrain." Hikari glanced around and her mouth opened in shock. It looked as if she had landed back in her mortal mind. It was how she viewed her perfect world. Smoldering and low-burning fires dotted the ground, clinging to the sparse, dead vegetation. From where she stood she almost didn't recognize a fallen skyscraper. When she looked closer she saw a picture of a family, barely hanging on the wall. It was her family. This was their home in Naha when she had been young. This scene didn't shock her for she still hated her family. Though not as dark as the shadows hiding the Presence from her, the world was dismal. Lights didn't exist. "This is my world and, since I am a mirror of the pain you have endured, my world reflects your oppinion from mortality and your hatred," the Presence explained. "Okay, so I hated my family," Hikari said. "What's your point?" "My point, Hijuelo," the Presence replied. "Is that you rely on violence and anger too much for your own good. It almost got you killed." "I don't care!" she yelled. "You're basically asking me to stop being me! And where the hell am I supposed to get the inspiration to fight?" She turned and strode to the nearest brushfire then back to where she had been standing. Pacing helped her think. "You really are insane," the Presence shouted back. "I won't fight with you if you continue to refuse to think. You are not simply anger and hatred and if you continue to identify them as part of your soul then you will devolve into a monster." Hikari's head whipped up and she glared at the shadow. "I already am," she spat. "My mortal life was hell but it made me who I am today. I don't have friends, I don't look nice, I don't try to make other people happy and I don't have a family. I'm a monster with the potential to destroy others even more monstrous then myself in appearance. It's ironic that I'm just as much a monster as they are. I'm such a monster that I've allowed myself to be trapped and the only way to get out is to get stronger and become even more of a monster." Hikari clenched her hands and kicked a chunk of rough concrete. "I'm such a monster that my other half is hidden from me by shadows," she sighed. "You are not a monster, you're hurt," the Presence said. "And you're a hero. You help innocent souls. But you let your anger get the best of you." "Ha! I haven't even been to Earth since graduating," Hikari laughed. "I haven't helped anyone." "If you don't have friends then what are Slash and Tenrai?" the Presence asked. "Fellow squadmembers," Hikari replied. "If you don't have a family then what are the group of people who took you in when you first arrrived in Rukongai?" the Presence pressed. "Shut up," Hikari whispered.

Hikari awoke from her dream, and instantly noticed the pain in her arms. Her body felt weak, and she could clearly see the bruises on the insides of her arms. Where the elbow joint was had a purple circle around it, and there were marks as if tubes were just removed out of it. "That is a clever shinigami you have befriended. This toxin is specifically targeted for hollow elimination, and could considered lethal-class as a threat to hollows. Surely, he must be a suitable adversary, since he was able to have bested you, one of Squad 11's ranked shinigami."
As Hikari's grogginess wore off, she could see Hawk, standing over his rolling tray. There were viles and tubes, as well as numerous shiny items of what seemed like silver medical utinsels. He was clearly putting them away after use, which led thoughts trailing to what might have happened while she was passed out. Hawk turned to her then, and the expressions around his eyes suggested he was smirking under the mask. "Unfortunately, I must inform you that under no circumstances should such a threat exist. I am sorry to tell you that your friend will be eliminated." Hawk rolled is chair over to the wall and pressed a button on his panel, and Hikari's straps released themselves. The helmet raised and moved back, before folding again into the table, leaving a flat surface with Hikari ontop of it. she suddenly noticed she was in a paper gown, and no longer had any of her former clothing at all. "Don't worry, your clothes will be waiting in Lemo's Surveillance HQs. The poison was quite difficult to extract, but I got the majority of it. This is just another reason why that 'Slash' is to be executed. I now have his venom to create separate samples for further analysis and composition, so that I may be able to strengthen it, lesses, do just about anything. This will also give me a counter for when the stupid shinigami ever happened to try and use it against me. Yes, you certainly were a useful specimine... but please, don't try to get up, I am afraid your body might still be a little paralyzed." Hawk snickered after saying this last part, as he crossed one leg over the other, as if to see the reaction to the girl being told her friend will die soon.

Hikari stiffened as each word hit her like the collective force of a land mine. Tearing away at her soul. Hawks words stirred about a pain that she had never felt before. "No," she gasped. Her throat seized up, denying her the ability to voice her denial, her argument. Nothing made sense to Hikari, the raw emotion was deafening. It dismantled her. "I won't let you," she hissed. "Not my friend!" But she could not move. The only physical testament to her success was the twitching of her fingers. (Sorry sorry sorry about the wait!)

"Don't think of it in such a sense, you'll just make yourself mad, as it seemd you do quite often." Hawk told her. "I would rather you take it in like he is just one of the shinigami who is going to die. Everyone else in Soul Society will also fall victim to my doings, just wait and see. By time you reach the sereitei again, you will all face worse things than you could have thought possible from an arrancar." Hawk stood up and walked over to the table, but actually walked around it instead. He reached the left side of Hikari, and just stood by the edge of the bed. "Stand if you'd like, but know that the door will not open until I make it so." he informed her. It was a cruel thing to offer, considering that she was still paralyzed. He just liked the thought that she had to deal with the fact that she could not move. The fact that at any moment Hawk could do whatever he pleased with her body. Anythng at all, and she was just at his mercy. But what he said earlier is just as unsetting, for his tone carried an icy chill. "I am more than you know, girl. You will all soon find this out, and the realization of your Soul Society's extinction will be upon you all!" Hawk hissed.

Hikari's eyes narrowed and she glared at Hawk. "Don't underestimate us shinigami and I won't underestimate you, arrancar," she growled. Her rage and pain warred with each. It was worse than the conflict she had been faced with not too long ago. Or was it? How long had she been here? She concentrated on moving but wasn't any more successful. Her fingers merely twitched and it irritated her that she was so vulnerable. But she knew it was a good opportunity. It wasn't common to see the enemy close-up for so long. Hikari returned her gaze to Hawk; studying his clothes before moving on to his face. He expression looked cruel to her. As she studied him she concentrated on maintaining the expressionless look on her face which she had used so much in school; human and shinigami.

"Stupid girl, not only are you a shinigami... but you are naive." Hawk said, mockingly. "Only such creatures as stupid as you, would actually live for such a purpose as you do."
He leaned back, against the wall, looking at Hikari. Hw was suprised she had not yet tried to rub her sore limbs, but he was sure she probably could still not move, either that or had forgotten to try in the daze of informationshe was being forced to graps immediately after being awoken.

[enters from Surveillance and Torture Room]
Walking to a stop near a medical testing room of some sort, Xeion looked at the doors, back to his digital map, then back at the door again. "This is the place," Xeion smiled to himself as he was sure that it was the right place. The other sectors already had other shinigami teams en route to them, leaving this room as the only place without a strong shinigami presence. From behind the doors, Xeion could feel two presences -- a weak shinigami one and a strong Arrancar one, although the Arrancar's reiatsu was not something Xeion considered as threatening. His only goal in this was to save lives, and that's just what he's going to do as he entered the room in a polite manner. "Excuse me, I'm coming in!"
As soon as the young shinigami Vice Captain stepped foot inside, the pungent smell of antiseptic permeated the air. Well, it was a medical facility or something close to it, so it was to be expected. "I never thought I'd be able to smell the scent of a hospital so soon," muttered Xeion to himself, proceeding further into the room until his eyes caught the ones that he was looking for; the two presences.
Immediately, Xeion's eyes grew when he saw that the shinigami there looked very weak. Her entire body looked like she had been in pain for quite some time and certain parts of her skin either had bruises or coagulated blood stains on them. "What happened here?" thought Xeion, instinctively rushing to the weak shinigami's aid noticing the Arrancar in the room, but choosing to ignore him in the meantime in order to tend to his comrade while still maintaining his guard up if and when something might happen. "Hey, are you okay?" asked Xeion, lowering his reiatsu to a certain degree so that the shinigami before him wouldn't be suffocated by it seeing that her body might not be able to handle his presence due to her currently weakened state.
Putting his hands on her body, Xeion began to send healing reiatsu so as to help her body's natural healing process tend to her wounds faster. Xeion was worried for this shinigami's safety, even though he had just met her, because Xeion considered everyone's life as precious and everyone he meets as family. Such was Xeion's pure and simple attitude.
"Hey, can you hear my voice? Don't worry, you're going to be okay, ne?" Xeion assured and worked as fast as he could so that her body's injuries wouldn't be able to develop into something life-threatening.

"Tch" Hawk was now walking to the door, leaving Xeion over by Hikari's side. Technically the Lieutenant should be thanking Hawk, since shinigami never really understood how close they came to death when engaging in battle. If it were not for Hawk's interest in the girl, she would have certainly died by her own comrade's poison.
" Take her, she is of no further use to me... Neither are you, shinigami; I have other things to tend to. " he said, leaving the room.

Xeion was too busy healing the shinigami to hear as to what the Arrancar had said, but he knew that he had left the room which made Xeion breathed a sigh of relief. He thought that the Arrancar would want to tak advantage of a situation and attack, but it seemed like he was more mature. "Well, that solves one problem. Now, let's get back to the others, shall we?" said Xeion, picking up the girl into his arms and opened a Dark Mirror as he stepped through it.
