Alazne nodded, the brown fringe of her's falling back into her face as she held the little child close, gently running her thumb and forefinger over one of his ears as one of her fellow servants had done when she was a child to comfort her and usually to lull her to sleep, though that wasn't the intent for this situation. When the cattaur looked over, her own gaze followed, and she gnawed her lip softly. She would probably get stuff from over there as soon as she was sure that the child would be fine.

The smile ghosting over an exterior that was usually as cold as the ice magic that he produced made Alazne tremble, as did the reassurance. She knew very, very little about cattaur magic, but she was almost sure that if being close to the fire had nearly burnt his hand that trying to produce warmth for this child really wasn't going to be good for him. But there was the thing- she didn't think that it would kill him to perform the opposite of his usual ice magic. The baby, however, might die if he wasn't warmed up and taken really good care of for the next few hours.

The wolftaur nodded slowly when Triston backed off, but the croaked mewl from the mouth of the child worried her even further, her eyes going to the fire, then the baby, the entrance to the cave, and Triston. Outside there was snow, if she melted that in something, they would have water. The corner had blankets, but there was no fire over there, and it was much cooler. Triston was practically cold-blooded with the way he seemed to work. And then, there was the fact that she didn't know what she would be able to do to get water for the baby, let alone food. The female's ears tipped back and she bit at her lip softly. She lifted herself back up and walked with the baby to pull one of the blankets rather haphazardly from the little nest, wrapping the child in it over her shirt that was still being used as a blanket.

She kissed the child's forehead and pet his hair down softly. "I'll be right back, I swear it. It won't be anymore than a few seconds," she said quietly, before slowly letting the child down a couple feet from the fire- a safe distance that would keep him warm but wouldn't burn him or have much of a chance of the blanket catching fire. Practically running though it was such a small space to do so, she burrowed up and out the little entrance, pushing the ice wall away and grabbing handfuls of fresh snow, packing them together enough that they would stay, but wouldn't turn to ice.

From his dizzy state, Triston managed to catch Alazne's leaving words and listened as he pawsteps grew fainter. Painfully opening one eye, Triston peered at the baby thoughtfully. It was weird that something so small and young had managed in the winter storm for that long. Actually, he was curious about how the wolftaur had gotten to the shelter. Was it by itself the whole way, or had something tossed it to them?

His eyes opened wide at the thought, why would a baby be by itself though? Surely even a mother who might abandon their child wouldn't choose such weather no matter what was wrong. And it wasn't a cattaur like him who might be rejected for his magic, so what had happened?

"Wolf..." Murmured Triston finally in a faint voice before forcing his exhausted body closer so he could inspect the baby. Confusion clouded his eyes as he silently watched over the baby with curiosity.

There was a voice. He could sense that though one presense had gone, another was close by. He sniffed at the air, searching for whoever it was. He wanted to be held again. The warmth that had been given to him magicly was helping wonders. He stretched his head out slightly from the blanket, tongue flicking out in an attempt to lick at whoever it was that was warming him, who had brought him from the cold wind, and who was sitting nearby talking.

Triston's gaze quickly narrowed as he noticed the baby wolftaur moving. That was a relief, but he realized that his skin probably wouldn't be the best thing for him to touch. Yet, his fingers were still burning with warmth despite his attempts to cool down.

Though weak and pained Triston couldn't help but to reach out a hand towards the innocent face. "Lil' magic thief." He whispered in humor before moving his stiff fingers teasingly in front of the wolftaurs' gaze.

Now that his eyes where able to crack open, the pup squinted at the wiggling fingers before him. Where he would usually paw and n** at them, he could only reach out more and lick at them. Cold!! He shrunk back into his blanket, eyes warily on the fingers. Weren't those supposed to be warm? But the voice had been nice... His gaze went from the fingers to squint at the face. Was this who had brought him here? Did this one know where his mommy and daddy were? He gave out a cracked but curious mewl, sniffing at Triston again.

Triston's eyes closed as he pulled back with a sigh. What had he been thinking? He wasn't allowed to touch others like normal and especially this pup who had just nearly froze to death. "Sorry."

Hearing the mewl, Triston's eyes opened to gaze at the baby. "You probably don't know either." He mused still pondering over the appearance of the pup. His eyes felt too heavy and he realized that keeping up like this was barely going to work for much longer. Especially with the black edging his vision, "No worries." He mumbled softly to the pup using the calm of his words to replace the warmth that others could give to him.

Then he pulled back for he was certain that Alazne would come back soon. Lying down against the floor, Triston thankfully took in the cold and rested. It wasn't long until he had unwillingly fallen into a deep sleep.

The pup licked at the air, as if he could drink and be satisfied from the words he was hearing. The voice was so nice. He kinda wanted the other voice to return. When Triston scooted away, the wolftaur whined and curled back into the blanket, tucking his chin close in wait.

Snow, snow, snow, everywhere more snow!! Alazne growled softly as she trekked through said snow, looking for something that could be of use- a bowl, something that resembled a bowl, ANYTHING like that! She shivered softly, wrapping one arm around her cold self. Snow was useful, that was true, but it was frozen and would be useless without anything to put it in after melting it. She shook her head, still holding the loosely packed ball of snow, before shaking her head.

It took her only about three minutes in the cold to decide to go back, and she crept through the little nook just as she had, tugging the wall of ice to properly cover the opening once again. "Hello, little one," she said softly as she approached the baby, kneeling down beside him, cupping her hands together with the snow in them and holding her makeshift container close to the fire, before glancing over toward Triston briefly.

"Triston...?" she asked quietly, not wanting to wake him if he was asleep. "Do we have any containers?" she asked, before holding the partially-melted snowball down toward the little wolftaur, water dripping from between her fingers. "Careful. It's still pretty cold..."

Ears twitching, the babe cracked an eye open as the other taur re-entered. He squeaked as the water dripped onto his nose, though his body was still cold enough to not feel the low temperature of the drops of too much contrast. His tongue flicked out eagerly for the liquid, wriggling slightly in his wrap from the relief it gave his parched throat.

Triston barely stirred as his mind woke up from its foggy depths. Something had talked to him, but what had they wanted? The cattaur's eyes felt heavy as he peered at Alazne through his eyelashes.

Still exhausted Triston barely managed to remember what he had noted when they entered. His tail flicked and connected with something light. One more smack and a small bowl crudely carved from wood by some traveler scooted towards Alazne.

Triston yawned softly and closed his eyes again, once more giving into the darkness of rest. But still he wasn't deep asleep yet, not til he was sure that the two wolftaurs were both fine.

Alazne sighed gratefully for the bowl, discarding the half-melted snow into it and holding it a bit closer to the flame, watching it melt as she offered her free palm to the baby wolftaur given it was still slightly wet from having used her hands as a makeshift bowl. "Thank you, Triston," she commented softly, amber eyes focused steadily on the melting snow. It wasn't long -maybe only a minute or two- before all of the snow was melted, except a few pieces of ice that had been left over.

"Here you are, little one. It's still a bit cold, but it's better than nothing," she said softly, placing the bowl in front of the wolftaur as she moved around the baby to curl up around him, petting the little thing's head softly. "We'll get you something to eat tomorrow. You'll have to be alright with just that for now," she whispered, laying down completely and watching the little wolftaur, ears flicking softly. She was definitely glad that they'd found him. He was a lucky little thing, that was for sure...

Licking Alazne's palm, the pup paused for a second, sniffed the damp palm curiously, then nipped at it gently. He was about to gnaw on it before the bowl was put in front of him. Boosting himself on the female's arm, he dunked his head accidently in his eagerness, yelping in supirse. Trying again, he lowered his nose slowly before lapping eagerly at the water ignoring that his ears were dripping around his head.

Alazne giggled at the pup's response, smiling gently when he didn't seem at all to mind that he was now soaking wet. She gave a gentle sigh at that fact, shaking her head. The little thing was an absolute miracle, that was for sure. Glancing over to the cattaur who appeared to be sleeping, she smiled softly, before looking back to the little 'taur. She didn't really want to think anything about raising the little boy herself, but she didn't want to assume that someone as anti-social as Triston was going to help her raise him. After all, the cattaur was only there for...

...for what? He'd originally stayed with her to teach her how to skate across ice... then to find food... then to find shelter... why had he stayed with her for that entire time? Surely, she wasn't all that interesting. Then again, both of them were teenagers. Regardless of how strong or independent either of them were, they were still going to be homesick and long for a certain level of companionship, right? Right, that made sense... they were just still together because they both needed some kind of emotional bond with another 'taur.

Frowning and flicking her ears a bit at her own tired thought processes, she pulled a corner of the shirt from around the little wolftaur, rubbing it over his bangs and ears, drying him off. "You know little one, we should get to sleep soon," she said, voice soft. "Don't worry, we'll still be here when you wake up..." she added, mumbling now as she curled up around the little one again, amber eyes shutting slightly, before she gave a large yawn, stretching her legs again before preparing herself for sleep, curled around the little one.

Even when the bowl was empty the pup kept licking at it, eventually tipping it onto it's side. There had to be more liquid in it somewhere! He murred softly when his face was dried, and then was pulled from the bowl. He only gave one soft whine before realizing what was happening.
Looking up at Alazne's face, the pup reached and licked her chin affectionatly. At least she was somewhat warm, unlike the other one. Curling back into his covering, he blinked weary eyes at the face of the female holding him. It wasn't mommy, but she seemed to want to keep him safe...
He closed his eyes with a light sigh. Within moments, a soft snore emitted from the wrappings as the pup's body fought to regenerate and survive.

[[ It's up to Sabbie whether or not Triston's still with these two. ^^;; I hope he still is. XD ]]

The pup was held closely as the night wore on, and even as he became too old to hold against her chest, Alazne curled her adult body around his teen one, keeping him safe as a mother would her own pup, slowly evolving the small cave around them, though not in a very motherly way. Few things changed, truly. Self-designed tinder twigs had been stored beside the pile of wood, rocks gathered around it to keep any fire contained. Instead of its prior position, the fire was kept in a corner, Triston's bed in the opposing one, while she and Blake, the child she'd fostered, slept in the adjacent corner, their beds slowly dividing as the boy became an adult.

But, in Alazne's mind at least, he was still young enough for games.

Hide and seek, for that matter, taught him many things that he needed to know. He needed to learn how to hunt, still, as well as hide from predators. The day she was unable to find him would be the day he was no longer forced into such games.

Amber eyes alert, the wolftaur sneaked through the forest just below their humble abode, teeth bared as each careful step kept the one chain on her collar from making a single sound. Finally, she heard the cracking of a branch and flipped around, speed slamming on high as she darted toward the noise, eyes wide and searching for a streak of yellow among the darkness.
