"That sounds like a plan." Chance said, giving a slight nod while licking his paw. He lowered it and stared up at Makki in awe at her next words. "Really?" he asked, his voice filled with wonder. "You must be really brave, then!" he said, his fish forgotten for the moment. "Seriously, nothing? No even snakes or bears?" His eyes shone and he saw Makki in a new way. Suddenly, she seemed bigger, stronger, wiser. Not to mention there were many dead butterflies around her in his mind's eye. Plus, she was all sparkly-looking now. Although that could have been the sun, he thought, squinting.

"I eat snakes, and I sleep in bear dens. Why would I be afraid of food and the former tenants to my sleeping places?" She smiled. Nothing like that was scary. She could handle them. It was something much bigger, much MUCH bigger that frightened her. She looked down to Chance with a smile, her tail starting to wag. It wouldn't be scary if she had parents to hide with, or a sibling or a friend. Maybe she'll be braver now, knowing that she had to live up to how she saw herself.
She turned back to her fish and flopped down, near Chance and started to eat her fish. It still just tasted like fish. Like his. Her taste wasn't so discerning as his she supposed. Fish was fish, and meat was meat.

"Wow!" he said, his tail thumping against the floor excitedly. His fur fluffed up proudly at being her friend (they were friends, right?) and he held his head higher, although not as high as hers. He didn't want to be disrespectful to the one and only leader-Makki, after all. He cocked his head when she suddenly started to eat. Was she so brave and strong that conversations like this were common to her? Hoping to be more like her, he started eating his own fish, too, taking care to leave out the bones. His teeth weren't sharp enough to eat those, yet.

(I have a feeling Makki got a small salmon now xd )
Makki didn't even notice bones in her fish, and just ate everything. She licked her jowls and looked to Chance with a smile. "If I started my own pack, would you join it?" It seemed kind of sudden, and Makki wondered if all alphas had been ambitious as pups. "I mean, you wouldn't have to... You just seem like... I donno, really smart and someone who I'd like to have around. I like you."

((Lawl yes, I can see why xD))
"Your pack?" he asked, just to confirm. "I'd love to!" He blushed at her compliments, looking away for the moment. Some small pieces of fish fell from his muzzle as he said, "Thanks. I like having you around, too. You seem smart, as well. I think anyone would be proud to be in your pack." He turned to roll up the remains of his fish, surprised to see nothing near Makki's paws. Did she... did she eat the whole thing? He gulped. She really was strong.

Makki was licking her jowls and smiled at Chance. "Alright then! When I'm big enough to command more respect, you'll be my first pack member! And I'll make sure that they respect you too!" She stood and shook herself before looking around. A butterfly was lazily moving it's wings as it rested on a longer blade of grass, and instantly Makki's ears were flat against her head and her hackles were raising as she watched it.
Makki slowly started walking away from Chance, her focus fully on the butterfly. She was a few steps away. The bug stopped flapping and waited there for a moment. She jumped at it, her mouth snapping shut.

Chance smiled, his eyes shining. "Can't wait!" he chirped excitedly. Her ideas sounded good. It would be nice to be treated with respect. He kicked his fish away into the stream where it drifted off. It would be eaten by another, larger fish, and if he left it on land it would only stink. He noticed her sudden shift of mood and his eyes trailed the direction she was looking at until he spotted the butterfly. It blended with the surroundings and was harder to locate. That would mean it was more dangerous than the previous scout. He opened his mouth the warn her but closed it after a seconds thought. Surely she would know. Unless... she didn't. He started to talk again but was stopped when she suddenly pounced. He jumped, startled by her sudden attack.

A wing still twitched as it hung out of her mouth. It was powdery. She didn't like it, but she had killed it. She grit her teeth to swallow it so that nothing remained of the missing butterfly. The armies would look for it, she was sure. She shook her head. "Blech. Those things taste terrible." She told him, trotting to the river to wash the taste out of her mouth. "But the taste of victory will be worth it!" She said after having her drink.

((Oh. Em. Gee. Makki xDDDD))
Chance's eyes widened at the sight of the twitching wing but he figured that since she was strong enough to eat fish bones, this shouldn't worry him much. "Um..." he said, having a hard time dragging his eyes away. "Wow." he finally managed to say when she turned away from him to go to the river. By this point, he wasn't sure whether she meant 'taste of victory' as literal or not and he sniffled nervously. Hoping to clear away the silence that threatened to appear, he cleared his throat. "So... I think it's your turn to teach me wrestling." He certainly wanted to know how to fight if he had to be fierce like that everytime he happened to cross the path of an evil butterfly.

She looked at him and grinned. "Alright." She charged without warning, poised to pounce on him. "Try and throw me off!" She said, tackling him suddenly. "Don't go easy on me now! Or I won't forgive you."

Chance gulped nervously at the grin, giving off a small squeak when she suddenly charged at him. That was certainly unexpected. He had thought she would tell him when they were about to start or something but apparently not. Whe she tackled him, he fell onto his back, gasping. "Right." he said, practically whimpering. He didn't want to fight but didn't want to dissapoint her, either, so, shutting his eyes tight and turning his head away, he started flailing his paws around the air, hoping that would count as doing something.

When a paw smacked her in the face she giggled. His flailing was kind of cute. She playfully nipped at his ear and rolled off him. "Not bad. You've never done this before, right?" She asked, her tail wagging. "When you're trying to dislodge an attacker, don't be afraid to move your whole body, not just your paws." she flopped onto her back. "If someone has you pinned like this, squirm like this to break their grip." She demonstrated what she was saying.

Chance gasped when he felt one of his paws hit something. His eyes snapped open as he muttered quick apologies. He craned his neck to look for her, hoping she wouldn't be mad. He decided she wasn't when she nipped at his ear and he scrambled onto his paws when she was off. "Oh... thanks." he said. "That's right." he nodded his head a bit, wondering if this was a trick question. "Whole body?" he wondered, pressing his ears forward, as if listening alone would make him better at this. He watched what she did, trying to memorize it. "Right." he said with a determined nod when he thought he got it right. Squirm like a worm. Hey, it rhymed!

She got up and shook the dirt from her fur. "Alright! Try and pin me now." She said, turning so her side was to him to make it easier to take her down. She tried to keep her body relaxed as if she weren't expecting it.

"Me?" he asked, unsure. He thought she would pin him down again and he would have to try. "Are you... are you sure?" he asked, hoping she'd say no. When it didn't seem like she was going to anytime soon, he nervously crawled towards her. He ran for a few inches but stopped and scampered back. How to stall, how to stall, was the thought running in his mind. He walked back to her, paused, turned, turned again, before pushing at her lightly with a paw. As soon as he felt her fur, his ears flattened, his tail curled under him, and he backed off. "Sorry." he mumbled, dissapointed in himself.
