I know this goes against the typical style, but...I was thinking that maybe ballet flats would work with the style as well? They're cute and dainty looking, and I think they work well as a sort of subsitute for people who wouldn't want to wear platform shoes. (Although lower-heeled mary janes would work just as well....)

I have some ballet flats. They make my feet look fat though xd I got two pairs at Payless last year. I always thought they would look cute with some leg warmers and a short skirt...

I'm allergic to platforms and high heels (in other words, they make my feet ache very fast), so I use cute sandals, ballerinas and non-platform Mary Janes all the time. Ballerinas look super cute if you put some satin ribbon criss-cross up to you knees like the "real" ballerinas. heart Metamorphose even had some very cute 50's-style sneaker-type shoes a while ago.

Arashi-kun I don't have that kinda of problem. My problem is that I have a big foot and its hard to find nice guys & girl shoes in my size. Stupid big feet. ;-; i have small-er feet, but bunions are a MAJOR problem. crying i have killer rocket dog platforms but it's 100% synthetic material and it hurts like a *$^#@#!*&!!!!! i have to litterally wrap my foot up with ribbon or gauze and tape and then socks before putting them on. gonk but i have other shoes that are nice and semi-comfy. 3nodding punkrose wingtip flats are my favorite shoes. i'm on my second pair, already. ^^

cloudyhead it makes sense lolita is a japenese based fashion scene and although asians have been blessed with bitching hair and soft skin they are usually short and flat chested. thats why they have worn big shores for like.... i think aournd 10 years it has been a common trend and thats why henti was invenvented gonk i think the original lolita platforms were actually style like geta. double deckers look like pokkuri geta. and rocking horse (with the back cut out) look like edo-period geta. and the bottoms are usually made of wood. (check out pingmag.com and search for the article on geta) but the high heel platform prolly came from american/euro culture. maybe: british rock > punk/goth rock > goth > goth loli and shorter heels/sandal type is from the country look. just a guesss.

I'm 5'11 ish, but I love the look of platforms. o.o;; It's not so bad when I'm with my taller friends, but when I'm with Eca, (5"ish) I feel like Frankenstein.. In platforms! x.x
Big feet is also an issue, I really want a pair of rocking horse shoes, they do exist in Euro 44, but only if I order 10 pairs, in the same colour and size. Oh dear god.
If I were to wear the same style shoes for the rest of my life, then it would be fine, but I don't foresee that happening.
PLEASE PM me if you are a Euro 44-ish and looking for Rocking Horse Platforms, if I can manage to get at least 5 people interested, my parents will consider ordering them. <3

I'm 5'9'' and even though I feel a bit awkward being taller than most people, I don't really care XD it used to bother me more than it does now smile But I don't think i'd go for 5 inch heels personally smile

Yes dear I have this very problem. I own platforms mind you but I don't wear them often. You see, I am 5'8 and taller than ALL of my friends (Not the guys). My solution is to stick to mary janes with a little bit of as heel. These are my favorite pair. I got them from a wonderful website called howcool.com. My favorite line is called Demonia. I hope this helps.

My girlfriend is 6ft tall and still wears platforms @.@ It makes her legs look a million miles longer...but she can pull it off.
She does have a hard time finding larger shoe sizes...ESPECIALLY in Mary Janes...She dearly wants a pair..

You do not have to wear platforms. Most of japanese lolitas wear them just because they want to be higer. xd

I'm 6'2" and a girl, so I've given up on platforms. XD
I'd just like some flat mary jane-esque shoes in black pl0x.

Mylord. You must have so much trouble finding clothes that you can wear at that height.

Some of you are so lucky! I'm 5'1 and have a size 4 1/2 - 5 shoe size, I have even stopped drinking coffee and begun drinking milk (I have a huge distaste for milk, i don't know why...) and have only grown half a in. lol sorry for ranting...but if i were you, i would wear platforms and flaunt my tallness.
