Now that Dew was safe, at least for the moment, Blaze watched the open pit aprehensively, as if he expected something to fly up out of its depths at them. The smell of salt and slime made him wrinkle his nostrils, and despite his best efforts, the peice of wood he held soon burned short, and he snuffed it out for a moment before lighting another.
The adoration Joy was heaping on Savith brought a slight snort from the firestarter. "He's not one o' of the First, if that's your meaning by High One. Llune is his mum. Besides, if we all called 'im such names as that he probably wouldn't bother to come down an' touch the ground with us anymore." He rolled his eyes. "I think Chief is good enough fer swelling his head." So saying, he held the fire a bit higher so he could see what she was doing.

For a moment Autumn ignored Blaze and replied to Savith. *I have heard your name. Many have said it but I am not that close to you yet. I guess the others know you on a more intimate level?* She didn't mean anything other then they were closer to him then she was at the moment. Then she looked at Blaze. With the fires reflection in her eyes they glowed in the dark. Her mind held the slight tone of a growl as she spoke to him. *And I find that more often then not when one uses words they are hiding things. As for the beautiful High One being his Mother, does that really matter? She is a High One and he is first born of the High Ones. Do you understand that the blood in your veins comes from them or from a High One they must have known? That they shine with the potential of what we could be. That each of our gifts come from them. From the High ones long gone. A blessing to any who have them from the High Ones themselves. You have lost your respect for the ones who in the end gave you life. You are not fit to hold the gifts the High Ones blessed you with. You who denounce the gifts of others and think yourself better somehow. You seem more lost on your lofty mountain then the other.* Now her send started to push at Blazes mind. As if she were getting ready to throw him out a door. *Now leave me to my work. To use the gift given me to help my new pack as I should. I can see well enough without your light.* With that the door was slammed and her mind would take a great deal of hammering should he wish to try and push back into it. Autumn then set back to work on the stairs and hand rail. It wouldn't take her long to finish now that she was all keyed up.

Starsong surveyed the goings on with a critical eye, once seeing that the situation was under control, she went back to her shady spot and sat down. No point in sitting around and gossiping about the big hole in the cave. Not much would be accomplished that she would be an integral part of. She put her bow back at her side and her head on her arms and slept with her eyes open, starting ahead.

When had Savith dropped Joy and his conversation public, he wasn't quite sure given the distractions of keeping him and Dew aloft while the imagined feel of the rock shaping magic he really couldn't sense prickled on the raw nerve that was his heart toward the power. But, what was done was done, and now two of their newly forming 'tribe' was arguing. **Such a thing to argue over,** his mind tossed up at them. **Titles and so forth. We are all survivors and we are all Elves, regardless of the circumstances or locations of our births.** He narrowed his mind more sharply on Autumn Joy, mind directing thoughts at her as a parent would direct stern words at a wayward child. The envy and self-hate brought on by the oozing rocks about him sharpened the send's edge. **Questioning the truth of another's words over send when one, such as yourself, could take a moment to sniff out the right of the matter is trollish. Do you understand that we are each having to learn what the rest knows and does not know? I find it disturbing, wolf-elf, that you would so easily question the respect of the one that all but gave his own life, a life that is closer in purity to the High Ones than yourself, to save you. I find it hypocritical that you would, in the same thought, accuse him of denouncing his gifts when it is those very same gifts that is allowing others without your sight to see; a fact you clearly overlooked as I am down here in the dark holding a cub, and you are not. As for the title of High One... I am no closer to them than Blaze is, so if a High One you must call me, then so too must you call him that, for likewise, do you know him as well as you know me. My name is Savith. My position is Chosen. I am a glider, and a pure born child of the High Ones, for I do not remember the stars as my great grandparents had. Call me what you will, but be sure that you see the rest in the same light.** **As for you, fire-starter,** Savith sent, turning his attention to Blaze. The prickly tone was slow to fade. **Take care when plucking the thoughts of others from the air before you. Low hanging fruit is not always the sweetest.**

Slowly her emerald eyes slid shut as she worked in the dark. Taking in the words of the scolding elder. Her head was starting to hurt from all the fuss and thinking. Perhaps her questions that she had were better left unasked at the moment and she would never call Blaze a High One so she would have to swallow it down and call Savith just that, Savith. She was silent and when she was all done she just said lightly, *There you are my Chief.* and went up the stairs to find a place to rest for the night. Maybe a good rest would help her see things better.

Again Dew felt the ground leave her and like every other time she clutched onto Savith for dear life. Although she was grateful for teh warning this time, she still didn't like it. Flying or floating or hovering, or wahtever they were currently doing, just wasn't her thing. She stayed quiet while Autumn worked on the tunnel and the stairs, mainly because she didn't like floating. But also because her nose was beginning to sting from the strong smell of salt in such a confined area. She picked up on the arguement about half-way in, figruing that the elves involved were too concerned with otehr stuff to remember to lock-send. And frankly, it bugged her that they were arguing when her and Savith were stuck in a tunnel that smelled of salt adn musty old things.
When Autumn made it to them and then left without hardly a word, Dew was confused. She didn't see what the big deal was about Savith and Blaze and the High Ones and all that. She knew wolf riders called Timmain by her name and besides, Savith wasn't a High One, he was a Glider. Right? It worked in her mind. But still, she said nothing. After a few more seconds of silence, she looked up at Savith's face, still holding onto him, and simply sent *I think I like trees more than caves.*

Savith grinned down at Dewpaw as she sent, turning to set her on the new stairs as Autumn leaves the area. He belt to let her down to the ground, keeping his hands near her for balance in case the rock was too slick for her. **Sometimes, I do too. Now, up you get, out of this hole,** he urged gently, back to whatever was further on.

Blaze held out his hand to Dew, ready to help her if she needed it. The speed and art with which the staris melted out of the stone had been the only thing that kept him from escalating the arguement, and telling the Rockshaper exactly what he thought of it all, with plenty of emphasis on her own genetics. And all in send. Which probably wouldn't have made him very popular with a large percentage of the group.
Although the words were unintelligible to him, the firestarter had caught the idea of what Savith was saying, and it gave him a small measure of vindication, and a reason to keep his tongue. As the glider turned his back to the darkeness, the feeble shadows danced, and as he was alread somewhat afraid of the strange tunnel, Blaze started involuntarily, sending a warning. *Sav-!* He caught himself, slightly embarassed. **Just shadows. Sorry. It scared me.**

Savith looked up sharply at Blaze's almost send-warning.He spared a moment to look over his shoulder before replying, **You have every reason for concern. We don't know what, if anything, might be down there. Dewpaw, go on and get to safety. Blaze, Autumn, Star, and myself will go and secure where this cave many take us.**

Peyote hadn't a clue until everyone seemed to RUN toward teh dark part of the cave. Hearing nothing, the villager looked at Starsong and blinked dumbly. "Sun bless me! What's going on, I wonder!"

Dewpaw steadied herself on the slick rock, hesitating for a moment before realeasing her deathgrip on Savith. She tested the ground then backed away to look up at him. *Why don't I get to go? I found the cave.* Yes, Dew was back to the whole, 'I'm-not-a-cub' bit. She didn't like being told to leave while the others got to explore. After all, exploring was her favorite thing, even more than hunting or climbing trees. She looked up at Savith, waiting for a satisfactory answer before she would leave.

Through the darkness she moved silently. She could tell by the feel of the water that she would reach the surface soon. Fathom figured by the darkness that the end of the tunnel found it's was up to an underground air pocket. She knew where many of these were before the moon shattering but now who knew what to expect at the surface. Did she feel sending? Did she hear talking? As she slowed her pace she broke the surface without a ripple in the water. Peering about just enough out of the water for her eyes to look around. An elf!? Her heart pounded and she smiled. Still she wasn't sure if she wanted to make herself known just yet. Light was in the tunnel and she could make out someone just past the elf who's back she stared at. Did he feel her eyes? She was ready to dive if he turned. The one past him was someone smaller in size. Was it a young one? Well she was close enough to find out if she sent and could easily submerge herself if she wanted to stay unseen. With her decision made her mind touched only the one she thought a youth, *Hello Minnow*

Savith remained floating in the air before Dewpaw, the elevation of the shaped stairs giving her s touch of height on him. At her question, he frowned slightly, mind trying to think of a good reason. For his son, he might have sent that he would need to stay to protect his mother. For his daughter, that his word was to be followed for her own safety. For this wolfish girl-child... **We don't know what to expect down there,** he settled on. **And while your courage is not questioned, I would not want to foolishly risk you to the unknown, unless there was no choice.** Not sure its working, the glider's mind reaches out for Starsong's. Privately he touches the older wolfrider's mind, **Star?**

Starsong was walking... no... floating over the dense forest floor. She had wondered why her footsteps made no noise, no crunching of leaves beneath her. She smiled, what a truly wonderful way to hunt, she thought. As she glided soundlessly over the terrain towards a stag, she readied her bow. Her mind thought of Savith and wondered if he felt like this when he hunted. Instead of admiration for the glider, she felt a pang of jealously at his obvious edge up on his hunting abilities. As she came closer to the stag she herd her name. It seemed to echo through the forest before she realized that this was too perfect to be real, and watched as it dissipated from her mind, being replaced by a more glum and crowded scene.
She snorted as she awoke and absently wiped the drool from the corner of her mouth. Blinking her dry eyes repeatedly as she sat up taller.
**Savith**she replied, the lingering emotions form her dream present in the send.
