Pausing, Axel really didn't know what to say. "I don't think... I'm ready to leave this place." He really wanted to leave, really he did. But he didn't think that he would be able to face the world. "I don't think I'm strong enough to leave." Shrugging, the stallion spoke truthfully and he'd rather underestimate himself. Making mistakes was no longer an option.
"So you're going to leave then? You should probably go." Axel looked away from her knowing that it was the truth. He was probably going to miss her after she left but he couldn't bring himself to admit that.
Axel didn't want to avert her from her mission because he knew that feeling. But he was thinking... maybe she had prepared him to leave this place. This was no place for a soquili like him to leave.

She knew it. She felt rather disappointed in both him for not wanting to leave, and herself for the same reason. She watched as he turned away and took in a deep breath. "You will not get any stronger if you stay in here you know..." She said, audibly upset. Her brief, hopeful, plans would not work if he was here and she was outside.
A sigh escaped her lips and she turned away. He was right. She should go. She couldn't do much of anything in here anyway. "You are most likely right and I will be..." She took a few steps away before turning and marching back.
In a flash of movement she seized on of his spikes again and gave it a pull. "You are a fool.." She muttered before trying to nose her way under his wing. She didn't want to leave, mission or not. Not right now.

Axel thought about her words knowing that she was right. But he wasn't ready. It was sad, but Axel knew that with time, he would be. He was in a sorry state... and it was about time he realized that.
He watched her leave but then she turned back around. What was she doing? "Uh." The stallion paused unsure of what to say as she grabbed another one of his spikes. "Uh..." Now he was unsure of what to do when she tried to get underneath his wing. Lifting his wing to cover her, Axel really didn't know what he was doing. He didn't expect this from her.
"Didn't you say you were going to leave?" She seemed to surprise him with every thing she did and said. There was a part of him that didn't want her to go but he didn't want to keep distracting her from her mission.

She smiled as he raised his wing and slipped up against his side. "I said that I would leave..." She said feeling rather content here. "I did not say when I would leave." She was hoping he would change his mind. That or she could try dragging him out by the wing. He was larger then her, by quite a bit, but who knew. She might be able to. Then it was just a matter of finding the exit.
The exit!
Her eyes widened and she poked her head out around Axel to peer around. There was no exit. At least not one she could see. She shrank back against his side her lips turning downward in a frustrated pout. She didn't really want to leave now but she would have to. Without an exit leaving would be impossible.
She turned her face upward to look at his face. She did not really want to ask but wandering around for hours would be useless. "Take me out..."

Pausing, Axel felt her warm body beside him and he looked down at her almost fondly. After being here for so long, Axel knew where he was and where to go because he had the time to search around for the exit. But he was still hesitant to go there...
"You want to go out?" Closing his eyes, Axel thought about the consequences to this decision. If he got too near... he could get too curious and might leave. Was she trying to trick him?
He looked down at her face searching for the reason why he would leave this place and he found it. What was he beginning to feel for this mare? It almost felt forbidden to him. Was she starting to grow on him? Axel never believed that could be possible. "Alright..." Axel loosened his grip on her and lifted his wing so that it was just laying on her back. He could guide her now.
Axel began walking the familiar road towards the exit and he was hoping that he was ready for this.

Golden eyes wandered over his face for a second. After a moment she nodded her head a few times. It would be easy to get him outside if he took her right to the exit. If she still had to or wanted to that was of course.
She smiled as he agreed to take her. Wonderful. When he lifted his wing slightly she thought he was going to walk off. She could still feel the light brush of his feathers, though. "You are still warm..." She said softly pressing against his side as they walked. Sure it made it a bit harder to move but she didn't care much at all.
She was content for the time being. Once they reached the exit things would either be better or worse. Rather, worse up until she pulled him outside...if she had to...if she chose to. She made a face her eyebrows knitting together. Why was it so difficult to decide what to do in this case?

Axel continued to walk through the trees just knowing where he needed to go from here without any signs. He really had been here much too long. Axel felt her get closer to him but he didn't feel so uncomfortable now. It seemed... almost natural.
"At least I'm good for something." The stallion began to notice that things were getting brighter and the sun was more apparent. He winced slightly when he felt a stray beam of light hit his face but he adjusted. It was so weird... to see the light again. Were they going to part ways once they reached the outside or was he going to stay with her? It was all very thought provoking and Axel really wasn't sure what he was going to do.
How was it that this single mare changed his life so much? Axel was still surprised that she had had this kind of affect on him.

She was fairly certain he could be good for lots of things, like getting apples out of trees. There were other things, but at the moment she could only really think of smaller tasks it seemed. That or she was hungry. She ignored what her stomach was telling her so much she often forgot to eat and had become fairly accustomed to having no food in her belly. Having nothing to indicate whether she was or was not hungry she let the thought of food slip to the back of her mind so she could focus on other things.
Like the light coming through the trees.
Her entire face lit up at the sight and her eyes began to sparkle. "Light!" She said as though it was a long lost friend that was rumored to be dead. For her this was a very happy moment. The light of the sun was a truly wonderful thing that always made her feel more like herself. Also, she could see now.
She turned her face up to look at Axel and stopped in her tracks staring at him. "Your eyes are green." She said sounding rather fascinated. In the dark she couldn't really see colors all she could tell was that they were bright because they did not just appear black to her when she saw them.

Axel felt uncomfortable in this lighting. He hadn't been anywhere near the light in many months. Could he make it out there, it didn't seem possible right now... He was looking up and out into the distance when he noticed her eyes on him.
Looking down at her, Axel tilted his head and he stopped walking when she did. What was she looking at? "Oh." Yeah, being that dark, it would have been difficult to make out any features of his body. "Yeah?"
The stallion looked at Seraphia wondering if he had missed anything in the dark. Her colors were a lot brighter in this light and she seemed.... a lot more angelic out here then when they were in the darkness. Axel seemed mesmerized at her long golden hair which he hadn't noticed before. He snapped out of his slight reverie quickly though.

She nodded her head still staring at her eyes. An O of surprise formed on her lips when she noticed two little marks, one under each eye. She took a few steps forward and stretched her neck to get a better look at the marks. At first she thought they looked a bit like wounds but it seemed that they were just a part of his coat.
With a flick of her tail she lowered her head and continued to study him. 'Fire spike' still seemed like a suitable name but in the light she wondered if perhaps a new name was in order. She bit her lip slightly thinking hard over it before smiling. She took a few more steps forward to stand in a patch of sun. The light hit the golden patterns on her back and warmed her.
"Come with me." She said nodding her head out past the trees. She needed a very good look at him in the light so she could pick a perfect name. It would be useless to give him one in half light only to need to give him another in the sun. Also, with any luck getting him out into the world would make it easier to keep him there.

He stared skeptically at her as she moved into the patch of light. Axel really didn't want to. The stallion shook his head and walked over to her but stopped right on the outskirts of the patch of light. "No thanks." Looking away, he continued to walk onward towards the edge of the forest. He really didn't think he could go out into the world yet.
Axel knew he was just being a coward but his pride wouldn't let him concede to anything just yet. He felt bad that Seraphia had to go through this. Did he even know... her real name? They had never formally introduced himself and Axel found that a little funny.
He continued to look away waiting for her to continue onward.

Her golden eyes narrowed as he refused and pressed on. Of course now she had a perfect name for him. 'Bright Headed Jerk'. She huffed a little then marched off after him. She was remotely happy that he was showing some signs of a non-depressed attitude but she pissed that this attitude was towards her.
As she approached his side she bit at his wing to show she wasn't happy with him in the least right now. She stopped there for a moment glaring at him. "It seems I lied about your name earlier." Her voice sounded both irritated and eerily calm as she spoke. "You have a new name now and I believe it suits you much better." She nodded firmly giving no sign that she intended to tell him what his new name was.
After a moment she marched past him in what she hoped was the right direction. There was light that was so it was good enough for her. He wings moved every so often in a quick and jerky way. If he had not figured out that he had upset her by now then this was another hint.

After she stopped by his side, Axel began to walk again. He felt her bight his wing and he looked over at her. "Yes?" His voice didn't have any hint of irritation or anything really. He was quite calm and content right now. "Oh really? What is my new name?"
Staring at her as she walked off, Axel laughed a little bit. "How do you know if you're going the right way?" He called out to her with a hint of amusement in his voice. She really was going the right way but he didn't want her to know that. He could tell that she was irritated with him but Axel clearly chose to ignore that.
Axel watched her walk away but he just stood where he was waiting to see if she would really leave him. He was more worried about her though because he knew he could take care of himself.

She did her best to ignore him but selective hearing really only worked when there were other things to be listening to. So, she just continued to walk pretending like she was ignoring him. This failed at his question. She paused and looked one direction and then the next really having no clue at all if she was heading the right way
"Bright headed jerk." She said quite loudly turning back to look at him. it was not an answer to his question or even her calling his name really. It was just her annoyance reaching higher levels. After staring at him coldly for a little while longer she determined that she really couldn't get out of here. Not without his help at any rate.
"And what way is out then?" She asked crossing back to him. She was still unhappy with how dismissive he was towards her but was calming down a bit.

A smirk appeared on Axel's face. Seraphia was definitely... interesting and amusing. He liked trying to guess what she would do because he was usually wrong. The stallion continued to stand there watching her walk away.
He emitted another laugh when he heard his new name. "Yes.. That does sound quite appropriate." Locking gazes, Axel waited to see if she was going to keep walking or not. He really wouldn't be surprised if she did keep walking away. He felt her glares but continued to keep expressionless.
Smirking once again, Axel shrugged. "Well, the way you were going was correct. Let's be on our way." Softening his expression to a gentle smile, Axel nodded and began moving the same way she came.
