Username: Quiftan Pokemon: Alex Prompt response:
Dark clouds swept in above her as Alex padded along the cement walkway. Hidden within the shade of the towering buildings, the golden Vulpix went virtually unnoticed. Alex scanned the pedestrians with hungry eyes. The unforgiving pavement of Katarina city flattened and cracked her delicate paws, and she longed for the gentle foliage of her forest... but her hunt wasn't over. Prowling silently, the Vulpix lifted her muzzle, whiffing the air. A muffled purr notified her victim has been located. The man was oblivious to the huntress, adjusting his hat, and assuming his jolly stroll. Vulpix prepared for the leap, crouching low and pinning her sights on her prey. In a burst of energy, Alex pounced, her claws sinking into the man's back.
The stranger cried in agony as Alex snatched the hat from his head, ripping hair from his scalp in the process. She bounced from the man, hastily prancing towards Pilkiras Plains with the furious stranger trailing behind. Alex savored the thrill of the chase.
"Hey! Get back here!!"
Alex outran the stranger with ease, and once he was out of sight, the vulpix tossed the hat in the air, letting it land on her head. She was proud of her collection of assorted hats, but this one was, by far, her favorite. It was the classic black durango hat, and Alex admired the gentle silky fabric. She took a moment to tend to her sore paws, until a loud thump distracted her. She snapped her head towards the intrusive sound, and found a clumsy girl who seemed to be eating dirt.
Reiko mumbled to herself, cursing her lack of grace as she struggled to get to her feet. Failing to regain stability, she reached for her cane. Wait, where did it go? Her dirt-dusted black hair drifted from her eyes as she gazed upwards. Her cane landed a few feet in front of her and... Whoa! A shiny Vulpix! Wearing a hat? The sight made Reiko halt, fearing she would scare the creature away if she moved.
Alex calmly glared at the clumsy human. Her intense blue eyes glowing against the dark, stormy sky. She spotted the glittering cane, and trotted forward. Alex grasped the treasure in her maw, taking one last half-pitiful look at Reiko before darting away.
"Wait! Stop!!" Reiko stumbled to her feet in haste, chasing after the vulpix on one leg. The storm grew stronger, roaring with vigorous thunder . Reiko stopped to catch her breath, falling to her knees as she rested. "Vulpix!" She cried, as a frosty tempest whipped her face. She huddled in her bundle of clothes, trying to keep warm.
"Is this your vulpix?" An angry voice sounded from ahead, Reiko looked up, alarmed.
"Huh?"
The stranger held Alex by the fur of her neck, plucking the hat from her head and replacing it on his. "Keep a better eye on it, would you?" He dropped the vulpix in front of her and angrily stomped away.
Reiko snickered, "Someone forgot to eat their happy meal this morning, huh Vulpix?" She held out her hand to the pokemon, "Can I have my cane back? I need that to walk."
Alex shuttered with fear as lightning writhed across the sky. She yipped, involuntarily dropping Reiko's cane as thunder exploded in the distance.
Retrieving her cane, Reiko frowned. "Are you alright, buddy?"
Paralyzed with fear, Alex could do nothing to reply.
Reiko scooped up the frightened vulpix, and got to her feet. "I have a hat at home you could try on for size. How does that sound?" She began to limp towards the city, careful not to trip, as Alex snuggled into the warmth and saftey of her arms.

Username: Kira of Flames Trying For: The lovely Alex Response:
Katarina City, a bustling city home to people and pokémon alike, was where Alex could be found. City-life was tough for this particular Vulpix for two reasons: the first was that she was a bright yellow ‘shiny-colorations’, at least that’s what the humans called it; the second was how she’d been brought up, she’d had such a nice home until about 7 years ago when unforeseen circumstances shoved her out into the dark streets of the City.
In the very beginning, she’d been born in one of the richest homes in Katarina; it was a mansion located right on the outskirts of the town with a backyard that melted into the wild plains the town. Her mother and father were owned by a famous elderly couple who were breeders and had were the highest of pedigrees of ‘shiny’ Ninetales, so it was only natural that she was born in the most beautiful of colors. Her fur was a glistening mustard-yellow with a brilliant cream underside and paws that faded into a mossy green. Her tail and head-curls were poppy-orange and glowed with a heat that came with such a youthful age. Most beautiful of all were her eyes, they were a glistening light blue that resembled the color of a clear summer sky. She never learned who her parents were, or even what they were like, since she’d been instantly brought into the foster care of her owner’s Blissey as soon as she’d hatched from her egg. Granted, there was nothing wrong with her life, even though she never knew her biological parents the foster Blissey was just as good as any, and the first year of her life was perfect and full of happiness. That was until her two owners died; the wife died of a sudden heart attack and the husband soon followed her in the eternal sleep through sorrow and loneliness and left Alex’s fate to be determined by the understanding of the couple’s will. Unfortunately, the family could not come to an agreement on who exactly was to take the young pup in, seeing that they all wanted her as a means of making money through either selling or breeding, and during the arguments the relatives were holding, the young Vulpix slipped out of the house and into the wild to escape them. She could tell that these people were terrible, nothing like the kind and gentle owners she’d had, and she wanted nothing to do with them.
For a week she managed to survive in those grasslands, eating whatever berries she could find when she could find them and keeping as far away from the city as she possibly could, fearing that those terrible people would find her and she’d be put away in a place more miserable than where she was now. Driven by hunger, she found her way into the heart of Katarina, and was looked upon by other trainers in disgust; her fur was ragged and she was even missing patches in some places, and the bits that were shown were so covered in dirt that her beautiful, shiny colorings didn’t even show through; she looked like something that was at death’s door and probably would not survive much longer in the world despite how young she really was. Weak from eating hardly the bare minimum for over a week, she searched the streets and kept away from the humans who glared at her in disgust, picking food from the trash cans and doing everything that she could to keep her alive despite her horrible conditions; the only thing that kept her going was the constant idea that things could not get worse than they already where, that things eventually had to get better. And she continued to live in the slums of Katarina, taking cover whenever it rained and living for the sake of making it through the day even if tomorrow seemed to bring nothing but a half-empty stomach.
For years, Alex lived the barest of life possible, and little did she know that this evening her look upon life was going to be changed while she made her nightly rounds for food scraps. As she padded softly through the silent night, something shifted in the darkness off to her right and caused the Vulpix, who was now very accustomed to things attacking her on the streets, to tense and pause. After a few moments of silence, she knew there was something watching her, and she growled a little, her fur glowing a bit despite the grime that seemed to now permanently cover her coat. Carefully, she stalked over to where she could see a moving shadow, her ears pressed back and her senses heightened even more as she spoke in a warning tone. “Come out now; I know you’re there.”
A soft, scared whimper came from a small box that lay in front of her and Alex’s eyes widened in surprise as she realized that the thing watching her wasn’t there to harm her. Carefully she moved aside the box to reveal a trembling Chikorita, and her heart went out to the poor grass pokémon. “It’s alright, I’m sorry I scared you, I promise I won’t harm you…. What’s your name, I’m Alex.”
The Chikorita watched Alex with wide, teary eyes before she spoke softly to the Vulpix. “I… I’m Demeter…. I’m lost…..”
Alex’s face melted into that of tenderness and kindness. “Oh, you’re lost? Do you know where your human lives? I know these streets like I know my tails.” She gave Demeter and gentle nuzzle, remembering how the Blissey of her pup-hood use to comfort her when she was upset. “I promise I’ll bring you back to your human, and I’ll make sure to keep you safe until then.”
Demeter’s eyes widened at Alex’s offer, then she smiled and nodded. “Oh thank you, Miss Alex! My human girl lives by the Central Park; she always cuts through there to get to school.”
Alex nodded, feeling uneasy about going to a place that was frequented by people at all hours of the day. “Alright, why don’t we go there and see about finding a place there to spend the night so we can catch her on her way to school.” That said, Alex got up and started leading the way to the park, looking back every couple of minutes to make sure the lost Chikorita was still behind her and safe. Once out of the slums and into the rather classier side of Katarina City, Alex skirted the streets quickly, not liking being around people. The only two humans she could have ever trusted had passed away years ago, and all other humans scared her. Up ahead of them a fountain could be seen as well as perfect, well kept hedges and a lawn that despite the darkness of the night was clearly a lush green.
Demeter’s eyes widened in happiness of having found the familiar land mark and she quickly ran through the grass, giggling a little as the dew got on her feet. She then stopped and looked over to Alex pleadingly. “Will you… stay the night here with me? Please?”
Alex smiled and nodded. “I think I can do that; I promised I’d make sure you’d get back to your human safely, didn’t I? Now, lets go find a bit of shelter so we can rest a bit, alright Demeter?” She padded through the grass and slipped under a bench, then patted the spot next to her, inviting Demeter to curl up next to her. She had no idea where this nurturing personality came from, but she figured it probably was thanks to the Blissey of her youth.
Demeter wiggled under the bench and curled into the warmth of Alex’s fur. “Alex….? Why is it that you live in the streets…? Don’t you have a human who you call yours? I mean, you’re really nice, so why are you so alone?”
Alex blinked, looking at Demeter with surprise in her blue eyes, then smiled and shook her head. “I don’t… trust many humans. When I was a pup, the elderly couple that had raised me passed away and because of my ‘pedigree’ all of the relatives argued for greedy reasons on why they wanted me. I couldn’t bear to be nothing but a means for cash, so while they all argued I ran away.”
Demeter listened quietly, then curled into Alex. “I see….” Quietly she slipped into sleep. Alex lay there for the remainder of the night, constantly on guard for anything that could be dangerous. Finally, morning came and lit the entire park up and things began to pick up as the city woke.
Gently Alex nudged Demeter awake as students began to walk past them. “Demeter, hey, wake up…”
Demeter yawned and stretched, blinking sleepily a little before realizing why she was being woken up. “Oh!” Suddenly alert, she scanned over each person passing by, biting her lip. Finally, as the students began to thin out, Demeter pointed her paw. “There! There she is!” Squealing happily, she leapt out from under the bench and ran to a mother walking with a rather sad looking elementary school girl.
The girl, hearing the calls of the Chikorita, looked up and instantly her face brightened. “Demeter! Look Mommy, its Demeter!”
The mother’s eyes were wide in shock, and she quickly scooped the Chikorita up in her arms. “Oh thank goodness you’re alright….” Both mother and child hugged, held, and stroked the Pokémon as they cried tears of joy.
After a few minutes, Demeter popped out of their grasp and ran over to where Alex was hiding. “Won’t you come back with us, Alex? The mom is really caring and the daughter is really sweet.”
“Demeter, is that your friend…?” The mother walked over and peered under the bench, blinking in surprise to see Alex there and in such terrible condition. Alex immediately dashed out from under the bench and put distance between her and the humans, and the mother covered her mouth as she saw clearly just what condition the Vulpix was in. “You poor thing, you’re nothing but skin and bones, and your fur, it’s so thick with grime….”
Alex watched carefully as she rummaged through her purse, then pulled out some pokéblock. “Please, eat some of these at least, little Vulpix….” She set the pokéblock on the ground and moved herself and her daughter away. Carefully, Alex made her way to the food and sniffed it before her stomach took her mind over and she ate them hungrily. It was the best food she’d had since the old couple had passed away, and she couldn’t help but let her tails wag a little.
“You don’t have to be our Pokémon, but you helped out darling Demeter when she was separated from us. We would love it if you’d consider our home part of yours as well, little Vulpix. You could come and go as you please, there’d always be food, and my husband is a professional groomer and would love to clean your coat up.”
The people where kind enough, Alex decided, and slowly she nodded her head. She could use a change in her usual life style, and the idea of having a warm place to rest at while not being forced to be there was nice. This family wasn’t one she was going to settle down with, and she knew it, but it was a nice start for her healing process to begin.

Thank you everyone for your entries thus far! <3
I'll update the entrants list and post which ones I've read when I find the time. 3nodding Devious_Kitsune Halloween of 2007, Extrasensory held its first RP event. If you're not familiar with the event, a caravan went on a trip to the northern deserted town of Inhinx. While on their way there they ran into swarms of pokémon who seemed to be fleeing from said town. Yin happened to catch one of those pokémon and named him Beautiful Chaos. Alright, so, that kinda touches upon the whole idea of the event...But there were a few more details I suppose.
The caravan was lead north to the town of Inhinx under the misleading assumption that it was just a ride to visit unknown lands.. However, it turned out there were strong pokémon in the northern lands that were driving all the other pokémon from the icy place. Turns out there were three male pokémon responsible for this: Conrí (albino houndoom), Ryou (a blind shiny umbreon), and the leader, my Isamu. The three had driven out the humans due to their growing greed when they discovered the frozen hills were full of....gold I believe it was? Either way, the humans took advantage of the pokémon in order to mine more precious goods. ('s why all three of the males are disabled to some extent: human abuse) Of course they retaliated and the three strongest well...they just drove everyone out. SO! All the pokémon from the swarms during the event were being driven away from the town by these three old pokémon. The reason? ...Well, they didn't exactly say, and they might not like to brag...But perhaps they did it with the thought of good intentions? Why keep the pokémon around and risk them in falling into their fate? However, I'm sure the other pokémon don't see it that way at all and they despise them for chasing them away. Would you want to be kicked out of your home? I think not.
...><; Did that help at all, Lunar?
EDIT: OH! I forgot the ending. =B The trainer caravan eventually learned about the history of Inhinx and three lucky trainers were allowed to capture the three 'leaders'. According to the Zatao map info the town is slowly being repopulated. As for the status of the three males...Well, I can only account for one's personality. You'd have to ask the other owners about their's. 3nodding

Username: Quiet_Wolf Entering for: Alex Entry:
"Once up a time-" Alex snuggled into the flower bed as she listened to the teacher speak. "A Kanto village was suffering from a terrible famine. As the weeks passed, the food stores ran low. The humans and pokemon began to fight over what little remained, and those who didn't die of hunger, died of violence."
Alex let out a muted whimper. Of all the days she came here, she'd never heard a sadder story. One of the school children turned toward the sound, and Alex crouched in the shade of a bush.
"The rice goddess, Inari, saw the people suffer- so she sent forth her servants. "As night fell once more on the tormented town, five ninetails appeared in the rice fields. Unlike most ninetails, four of them were completely white. The fifth, their leader, had a coat of gold! The Golden-One lead her army through the rice paddies, and they danced."
"They danced?" one child cried, incredulously, "I thought they were gonna help the villagers!" "Shh!" the others chastised.
The teacher smiled, "This was a special dance, because when the people woke up, the fields were overflowing with rice! The villagers had enough to last them the famine, and to this day, seeing a white or gold ninetails will bring you great fortune. The end."
The children clapped, and Alex slunk away. She had a golden coat, just like the leader of the ninetails- maybe she was good luck?
For months afterward, Alex would dance in the rice fields by night, and let people catch glimpses of her during the day.
One night, she came upon a luxio. {{Gah!}} the luxio yowled when Alex danced over her tail. {{Hey, kid, the heck are you doing?!}} {{I'm blessing the field, so the rice will grow.}} {{...Uh-huh.}} the electric pokemon raised an eyebrow. {{What's you name, kid? Mine's Kiara.}} She added the last bit as an afterthought. {{Alex Inari no Kitsune. I'm a magic fox!}} {{You're a vulpix.}} Kiara hadn't meant to hurt Alex's feelings, but the little pokemon looked crushed. {{Which is a type of fox!}} she added hastily. Alex beamed. {{Yep! I'm a golden, nine-tailed vulpix!}} Kiara counted the growths on Alex's butt. {{Six. I see six.}} {{B-b-but-but-}} Alex's lower jaw started to quiver. {{Wait! No, I miscounted! I see three more little tails. Really little- easy to miss.}} She was, obviously, fibbing. {{L-little?}} Kiara was begining to wonder what it took to please this kid. {{They'll get bigger when you become a ninetails.}} {{Yay! I wanna be a ninetails!}} {{Yeah. Yay.}} Kiara put he head down and closed her eyes. {{Make me a ninetails, please!}} Kiara leaped up. {{Wha? I can't make you a ninetails!}} Once again, Alex got pouty. The luxio sighed. {{I guess my human might though.}} she lay back down, {{I'll introduce you in the morning.}}
Just as Kiara started to fall back asleep, Alex began to dance in the field again. And sing. Badly. Kiara placed her paws over her bloodshot eyes and quietly sobbed. {{Jeeze-us Christ!}}
What Alex thinks she is/doing/acting like is based off various bits of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean mythology. Contrary to popular belief, most nine-tailed demon foxes (if not all) were female. If they lived to be 1,000 years old, their coat would turn white or gold. Golden/white nine-tailed demon foxes were the most powerful.

Oh yeah, the story about the village (and the dancing thing) I made up, but there's probably something similar in the actual mythology.
The surname/title Alex uses when she introduces herself to Kiara means, roughly, Inari's fox. That is to say, she's calling herself a servant of Inari.

Username: Renekai Pokemon: Beautiful Chaos Prompt:
Beautiful Chaos wandered the dark streets alone, allowing his anger, frustration, hate, and yes, even fear, to simmer. He growled into the night as a single name cut across his mind as it had every night ever since BC had been forced out of his rightful home: Isamu. Even though BC was so strong, the cursed Isamu had forced BC out of his own territory. Now Beautiful Chaos was stuck here, in this stinking human town. It was crowded in the day, and always was too noisy. It stank of moldering food, waste, and smoke. Cigarettes littered the hard sidewalk. On top of all that, it was unbearably hot in the sun. BC had yet to see any amount of snow in the horrid town.
BC paused and looked up at the sky. Even the stars were different there. They weren't nearly as bright, and the constellations had moved or disappeared altogether. There were unfamiliar stars, and BC felt out of place and lonely. He hadn't had any close friends in Inhinx, but at least he knew that he had a place to call home in the icy area. But here, he had nothing. Nothing but his hatred for Isamu. One day, Beautiful Chaos would make that absol pay... BC gritted his teeth and wrenched his eyes away from the sky. Head bowed, he continued on.
At last, he reached his destination; an old, worn-down house that seemed to serve no real purpose. BC leaped onto a large trash can, then bunched up his hind legs, feeling his muscles coil. A growl ripped from his throat as BC jumped from his perch and onto the flat roof of the house. As he cleared the wall, a flurry of movement distracted him and his foot clipped the wall as he went over. With a small yip of pain, BC skidded to a stop, favoring his bruised foot. There was something there-- a Delibird, recessive shiny like himself. "Who are you?" he blurted angrily.
Bell gave BC a reproving look. "I am Bell. Who are you?" she replied, her tone of voice just as cold as BC's. The Delibird was female, and had odd markings around her eyes. The eyes themselves were purple and harsh; Bell obviously had some attitude problems.
Caught by surprise that the bird wasn't leaving, he said, "I am called Beautiful Chaos." Suddenly inspired, he added, "You aren't from around here, are you?" The Delibird reminded BC a bit of himself; certainly not playful or friendly, and with an affinity for ice and snow.
"Nor are you," replied Bell sniffily. "I used to live in the Moteore Freezland, but I was caught and brought here. You're from Inhinx, aren't you? That's where Isamu came from..."
"You know that wretch?!" growled BC, hackles rising. "Isamu, is he here? I'll make him pay!" BC's lip curled and his teeth glinted dangerously. "Isamu..." he growled deep in his throat. He had been right, after all. This Delibird was similar in more ways than just that they both had recessive shiny genes. "What do you think of being here, away from your old home?" BC asked suddenly.
Bell blinked. "At first I hated it, but now I've grown to like it here. My trainer is kind to me, and I meet a lot of new pokemon and humans-- and then there are always the battles. It's good to fight every now and then to keep getting stronger. Sometimes I can barely stand the people here, but almost everyone is friendly... I am content with calling this place home."
BC looked away. He would never call this town home, not even if he lived for a hundred years! The only reason he had to stay was Isamu. Isamu had caused all these problems for him. Who had torn BC away from everything that he knew and loved? Isamu. Who had forced him to come to this new place, where he was utterly alone? Isamu. Who had taken everything that was BC's reason for existing and shattered it to pieces? Isamu! No, Beautiful Chaos would not turn tail and run like a wounded pup; he would stay and fight. As soon as he met Isamu, he would make the other absol feel the pain that BC felt when his home-- his life-- had been stolen away.
And this Delibird was the link to Isamu. BC felt his heart harden; he knew now what his goal in life was: to destroy Isamu's happiness and pride on the battlefield. "Delibird, where can I find Isamu?" BC demanded.
"Oh, very nice!" snapped Bell. "Why don't I just start calling you 'absol' and make you do petty favors for me!" Bell seemed to swell with anger. "Even if I did know where to find him, I wouldn't tell the likes of you!" With a final huff, Bell lifted off and flew into the air. It seemed that, what with lack of sleep, her temper was even more ready to flare up than usual.
BC first felt astonished, then angry, and finally desperate. He needed this pokemon for help. She knew the town and had adjusted... BC could learn from her, though he hated to admit it. And she knew Isamu and could lead Beautiful Chaos to him, whatever she may say to the contrary. "Bell! Wait!" he cried out, following Bell from the roof. She was flying towards the next house and appeared to be planning on landing there. BC skidded as he reached the end of the house; the next house was seven feet away.
BC had to suppress a howl of frustration. He turned back and ran several feet towards the opposite end of the roof, and wheeled around and sprinted after Bell. It was a crazy jump, but BC couldn't risk pondering on it. He reached the end of the roof and pushed off with his back legs, soaring through the air. He was going to make it! Four feet to go... Three... Two... BC started to feel the beginnings of panic; he would go far enough, but he was now losing altitude. THUD! BC whined as he landed heavily into the wall of the next house with only his front paws on the roof, stopping him from falling.
BC dug his claws in and scrabbled with his back legs, but he couldn't get a good hold. This is stupid, he thought desperately. He was going to fall and break a few bones all because of a dumb Delibird.
Bell peeked over the edge of the roof and down on Beautiful Chaos. "Well, now," she said smugly, knowing how much power she had in the situation. "I'll help you if you promise to leave Isamu be until I deem you strong enough!" Bell only said this because she knew that this would be the worst possible condition for BC.
"What! Why, you old witch! Stupid Deli--"
"I guess you don't want my help!" Bell interrupted loudly.
BC felt himself sliding off the edge of the house. "All right! All right!" he shouted, fear showing in his eyes. "Help me, Bell!"
Bell flew down and helped push BC up and onto the roof. "There, that wasn't so hard!" she said wickedly. "So, while you're here, you may as well train with me before you're allowed to fight Isamu."
Beautiful Chaos growled. He was bound by his word to this horrible Delibird-- how could he have thought that they had anything in common?-- and now he couldn't even accomplish his one goal: to fight Isamu. "You want me to train? Here?" he asked skeptically.
"This is my trainer's house!" Bell replied brightly. "You're going to have to stay here with us unless you want to give up on your fight with Isamu." Bell was being evil, and she loved it.
BC cringed. Great. Now he had to be trained by a human... And stay with the Delibird. "... Fine," he snarled resentfully. He could always leave after Bell decided that he was strong enough... And on the plus side, BC would have multiple chances to beat up Bell until she had to let him fight Isamu, just so he'd leave.
"Excellent!" Bell replied happily. "Well, good night." Without another word, Bell flew off the roof and into the house, leaving BC behind.
The absol looked down. It was too high to jump, and there was nothing to break his fall. How was he supposed to get down? "... Stupid Delibird!" he cursed before curling up on the roof, preparing for a cold night. Sort of like in Inhinx, only without the snow to stop the wind...
