-Do you generally think of loli's as short? Admittedly I do envision most lolis and kodonas as short. However, the dandies and aristocrats can be tall and still pull it off on account of the idea that they are the "grownup" versions of loli and kodona. -Should all loli's be rail-thin or petite? It depends. I think curvature is okay and shouldn't be a big factor in your type of dress, that I admit that the more busty of women might look weird trying to be a very child-like loli. They'd pull off a more mature gothic loli or an aristocrat more easily.
-If you see a tall loli, does it seem odd to you? I don't see many lolis around to begin with, but if I ever did see one, I don't think it would phase me - I'm a Short One, so I look up at everyone.

shomeru Mushroom Flavored Water skie 0 i can see why the models are short and skinny, that is what people want to see, and thats what the magazines want to show. i know it's not fun for us to see, but it is the case (studies media ^^). I've got an extreme hourglass figure, i have a 10" difference between my bust/hips and waist! and i'm always 2 odd inches away from being able to fit into an authentic dress. I'm 5'5", and even my height is concidered tall. In Japan obviously most of the people there are short, so i guess thats what the models are going to be. Short and petite.
I think all women should have a small belly to them, it adds character (:
...sorry if this doesn't answer any questions >> Me too!!
my measurements are 36-22-32. Its hard to find good loli stuff that will fit correctly 3 measurements i thought there were only two??? now im confuzzled It's bust-waist-hips. A lot of the time the bust and hips will be the same.

xXxHawthorneHeightsxXx I'm five foot three inches. I hate it. Being short sucks and even if I was just right for the fashion I wouldn't like being short. I can deal with it but I just wish I was like six foot. That'd make me happy. Well I guess I can buy some platforms and then wish for a growth spurt! That's the thing- when you're short, you can get away with wearing 4 inch heels. i'm 5'11''- if i do, i'm 6'3''and it really gets annoying when you tower over everyone.

True, but just because you're tall doesn't mean you have to avoid the shoes with tall heels. I'm 5'11 1/2 and I was the same way, I didn't wanna get stuff with heels cuz then I'd REALLY tower over people. But eventually I got over it and bought shoes that make me about 6'3-6'4 when wearing them.

I actually think that really tall people wearing the loli look make it that more interesting, because while they're towering, it gives the impression of being a real larger-than-life doll.
I'm only 5'4, but my platforms/ heels often make me 5'8 ish. I know that's not as tall as you guys...! But it's tall where I am, and I really think it adds to the walking-talking doll image.
I don't know about other measurements.. I'm 34-26-34, so I don't have any problems at all there.... sorry sweatdrop

Seeing as how the lolita style really stems from Japan, the majority of the time I have seen the stereotypical petite-size loli. A lot of Japanese people just happen to be short, it can't be helped. Now that this fashion has spread past Japan's borders it is understandable that taller people would question if this style is suitable for them. Honestly, as with fashion in general, it doesn't matter what you wear, it's how you wear it. As long as you find an item of clothing that fits your personal body type, you can look good in anything. A lot of elegant attire looks amazing on taller people because there frame allows for long flowing fabrics. On a shorter person, sometimes too many frills end up looking a bit cluttered and frumpy. Other times, a shorter person would have the ability to wear 4-inch platforms, while an already tall person would be a bit overbearing if they wore such thick heels. I personally am 5'4 1/2" which is fairly average height. I have no problem seeing a tall person dressing up in the lolita style. There is a wide variety of clothing in the world of fashion, and if designers want good business, I'm sure they have designed clothing to suit any body type. As long as you know how to dress appropriately for your body type (in terms of proper fit and cut) then I say do whatever makes you happy. 3nodding

5-11? Distinct hourglass?
That's me in a nutsell.
I honestly don't care about looks. In my opinion, it really shouldn't matter. I think the shortness is a combination of the Japanese factor and the inherent childlike characteristic of the "lolita" half of it.

Personally, when someone works really hard to put together an outfit and look their best, I don't think it should matter what size they are. I have seen a lot of "plus sized" lolitas and personally, I think it is excellent they are not letting their figure keep them from looking so lovely. I am not extremely thin either. In the end, being a lolita is about looking nice and being a good person.

-Do you generally think of loli's as short? Not at all ^^ -Should all loli's be rail-thin or petite? Of course not! Heck, I'm a plus-sized Lolita myself and I think it's just fine (though I think I could look better) sweatdrop -If you see a tall loli, does it seem odd to you? Unless they're about 8ft. tall, then no blaugh

I'm 4'11 and 3/4 but I'm very curvy. My bust is a large, my waist is a small and my hips are a medium. eek You can imagine the problems that causes me! I may be short, but my body type makes it very hard for me to find clothes that even remotely fit.

Most of the Lolitas I see in pictures seem small, but so are a lot of Japanese women, and I don't think size should matter. I'm 5'5 and 125 pounds so I'm pretty normal, though my school is filled with short people so I feel tall. I do like wearing chunky heels, though. The only thing is that different sizes and shapes are suited to different things. A very cute, sweet look may be better on a short person while a tall person might be better suited to the more elegant style.

I generally imagine Lolitas to be small and petite, probably because it was invented by small and petite Japanese women. I don't think it matters if you're tall or not, but as long as no one tall is modeling Lolita, it's fine.
>.< Us short people can only model Loli stuff, sos you should let us have the jobs we can get.

I don't think height should matter.
I'm 5' 7" without any heels/platforms, as well as a tad larger in the areas of the ut and bust, yet I can still pull off Gothic Lolita decently. However, most of the pre-made dresses I can find are really short on me due to my height, so I can't wear much for those... -.-;;
Also, personally I find that the EGA style more aptly compliment my physique as well as my personality, though even with that I have troubel with skirt lengths... over the summer I'm going tohave to make some of my own clothing...
Yet, wear what you like, and whatever you feel comfortable in!
