The dragon chuckled, though the high lilt made it more of a cackle, as he went looking for the ingredients. Too sweet for Mel's taste but the vanilla sounded interesting. "You're making this too much fun, you know. You're injured so you should bask in the feeling of having other people doing stuff for you." When he was finished he brought it over to Tunda. "Okay, now taste it and tell me what you think. I hate to make coffee that someone doesn't like the taste of."

Tunda takes the mug from Mel and sniffs the aroma for a moment, eyes closing slightly. Opening his eyes again, he glances at Mel again. "Y-You forget though... I'm used to being the one running all the errands and doing everything without rest, all while being treated as nothing more than something to own and throw away." He says, then takes a slow sip out of the mug that had been handed to him. "It's perfect." He says, giving a small smile.

"And you forget... that's not your job anymore. You are officially unemployed." He leaned over so that his elbows rested on the counter and his hands held up his chin, then stuck out his tongue. "Oh good! There are two things I insist perfection on: coffee and eggs. If I can't get them just right my day is shot." He stood up again and went back for his own coffee. "So! What would you like to do today? Buy stuff, take a tour, watch a movie... you can also elect to do nothing... or of course something I didn't list."

Tunda blinks, and stares at Mel as if he'd sprouted another head. "You say I need better clothes and a toothbrush, but... I.." He gulps slightly before continuing. "have no money... I was never payed, being just a slave. I... I wouldn't be able to pay you back." He looked near tears at the thought.

"Well of course you didn't. Slaves don't get paid. We already explained you help out how you can here. I know that's going to seem to put pressure on you to repay things, but stop thinking that way. It's... like family here. I don't know how else to put it. It isn't really a family, but it's definitely not a business. So don't worry about that. We look out for our own here, and as long as you stay here, we're going to look out for you."

Tunda blinks, then nods meekly at the other's response. "Okay... I'll try not to worry..." He mumbles, looking down at his feet again.

"Yeah... I mean really... right now, you can't. You just have to trust us to do right by you and we'll worry about things like that later." He took a sip of his coffee then glanced back at Tunda and noticed the other's expression. "If you really want to keep track, I suppose you can. That's up to you..." He sighed a little. "Or, if you don't want to 'owe' anything, you can just borrow things from people." Well. Except for the toothbrush. Some things you must buy new...

Tunda continues to look at the floor for a moment before giving a small nod. To which answer, however, Mel wouldn't find out until later.
"So... When do we leave to go... shopping...?"

Mel watched him carefully for a moment. "Well... we could leave..." He had been about to say 'whenever you're ready,' until a familiar glint of metal caught his eye. He pointed at one of Tunda's wrists. "Once those are off... anytime after that," he said with a grin.

He blinks and looks down at the shackles on his wrists still, then back up at Mel for a moment. "And where do we go to get them taken off?" His tail swishes slightly, seeming to have gotten a mind of its own.

The dragon frowned briefly in thought. "I'm sure there are pipe or bolt cutters in the garage... I'm not overly skilled with such things though so I'd probably want to get someone else to do it..." He certainly had the brute strength enough to handle such tools, but because they were not being used on inanimate objects but the living, he did not want to risk injury to Tunda's wrists. Best leave it up to someone with greater skill. While he pondered, another anthro stepped softly into the kitchen, a long-limbed cat with mismatched wings who wore absolutely no clothing except for the golden bands wrapped around his limbs. He raised a brow speculatively at the sight of Tunda but nodded to him and said nothing, instead heading to the cupboards for a mug and his coffee."Tunda, this is Ignatius... Iggy, this is our newest resident, Tunda Storm." Mel watched the cat pour his coffee; by his demeanor it was difficult to say if he had just gotten up, had been awake all night, or had merely been up for several hours. Even half-awake he would move fluidly or even with a spring in his step; his batlike and feathered wings were always raised and ready.A sip or two later found the red-furred cat turned around and approaching Tunda's seat, tail swishing lazily behind him. He offered Tunda a hand in greeting, stretched out across the table's surface and raised palm-up. When he spoke, his voice was surprisingly deep and gravelly, his large blue eyes bright and friendly. "Good morning and welcome, Tunda Storm. I am Ignatius, Alpha Cat of Fire."(I actually brought him in for a reason. x3 Yeesh, I need to update his cert... and others' as well... :/ )

Tunda, at first, felt himself flinch away from the other feline, then shakes his head, forcing himself to stay in place, mainly because Mel's demeanor didn't indicate the cat was dangerous to him. At the other's introduction, he very slowly nods in greeting, then raises one of his own hands, the chain on the end of it making noise as it was moved.

The Alpha cat studied Tunda for a moment closely, as if weighing the strength of his handshake. He took note of the chains and glanced back at the dragon with an intense look. "Mel... this child is feline."
"Oh..." Mel blinked in surprise. In all honesty he had never thought about it, and if he were asked he would not have known, especially given the sparks he sometimes emitted from his fur. "I suppose he is..."
Ignatius turned back to Tunda with a warm smile. "Should you choose to take advantage of your membership in the cat clan, you are entitled to pack privileges. I don't know if you are aware of the different packs or not, but each has its own pack leaders, an Alpha and a Beta. As your Alpha, I can come to your assistance should you need anything - protection, mediation, or just an ear to talk to. You may also ask the same of my son, Keahi; we both live here."
Mel chuckled. To the dragon, the cat sounded much like a salesman, but to his credit he really took his position as Alpha seriously and would do anything for a packmate, or housemate.
The dragon's mirth gave pause to the firecat and he turned to look back at Mel again.
"Mm... good coffee." Mel grinned and sipped his coffee. "Say... I just thought of something."
"Yes?"
"Well... you see those shackles around his wrists? Those are a little memento of his previous masters. Do you think you could remove them?"
Ignatius took a deep breath and studied the metal for a moment, arranged in a typical flattened cylindrical shape complete with a seam as well as a matching chain 'charm.' "It should be no trouble." He looked up at Tunda. His gaze was intense again, keen with a diversity of understanding. "Would you like me to remove them for you?"

Tunda fidgets for a moment, fingering the cool, familiar metal around his wrists as he thought. His tail flicking slowly behind him, tiny sparks bouncing rather rapidly in his concentration only to dissipate before touching the ground. He was also weighing Ignatius' other words and offer in his mind. Like a small child, he gives a nod, wordlessly attempting to convey his trust in the Alpha that stood before him.

"All right, Tunda Storm." He kept the other's gaze as he spoke, enunciating his name with deliberate respect. "I will carefully cut these away from your wrists. You must also be careful not to touch where I have cut the metal; it will leave burns if you do." Watching him for a moment longer, he then turned back to the dragon. "Mel, please get me some ice water."
Wordlessly, the dragon complied. His eyes had widened to the size of emerald saucers as he placed his coffee cup aside. The Alpha's abilities were awe-inspiring when he wanted them to be; realization that he would have the opportunity to see them at work always made him giddy. After all, under normal circumstances, it was easy enough to even forget that he possessed them!
When he returned to Ignatius' side, the cat had already turned his attention back to Tunda's shackles. He was rubbing lightly at the seam and directly across from it, feeling for weakness in the metal. "Did you want me to do anything else?"
"Perhaps. I may need you to take a piece of metal and put it into the water."
Mel nodded. "All right." He stood off to the side, poised and ready.
Ignatius glanced first at Mel, then Tunda when he asked, "Ready?"
"Yeah." The dragon was struck randomly at how easy it was to perch lightly on the balls of his feet where once he would be losing his balance just as easily. Funny how things change.
