Having heard not only the stress in Seth's voice from her response, but the gunshots and random monster noises from before, she instantly new Seth was lying. Still, since Seth said to just keep concentrating, Maryl assumed Seth had things under control. She opened her eyes as two rings of arcane runes materialized around the sphere. This would keep the hole from interacting with the environment around and make it close up faster.

Some of the swarm gaped in shock as their portal was sealed off. They began to spread out in a frenzy beginning to attack anything and everything else at random. A few started clawing at the rings, while about 6 more dove down toward Seth and Maryl.

"Well, now's as good a time as any to test my prototype..." With her free hand, Seth took a three barreled shotgun from her tunic. She put away her sword as she opened the barrels and slid a shell into each of them. Taking dead aim, Seth fired all three rounds, sending a spray of shrapnel into the six creatures diving at them.

The diving six dropped like flies in the spray of shotgun pellets. Some of the enfrenzied took their focus off of the surrounding structures and turned to panic. One particularly near the portal grabbed Maryl and raised a claw, threatening her.

Maryl gasped, being grabbed all of the sudden. "No! Let go of me!" She wriggled a bit and dropped out of her cloak and hat, leaving them with the creature and running away, making a b-line toward Seth.

Seth was a bit baffled by Maryl's surprisingly instant escape. Since Maryl was charging up to her anyway, Seth figured she'd wait till Maryl was right next to her before aiming over her shoulder and shooting the beast. She switched for her revolver again and Fired at the thing's forehead.

The creature threw down the hat and cloak in anger having been so easily thwarted. It roared, allerting the remainder of the swarm. Taking a shot to the forehead it flopped over lying face up. The rest began combining quickly forming into a much larger creature. The complete larger beast roared in anger and brought its hands down to crush the two children and sunder the ground beneath them.

Seth reacted by grabbing Maryl under the shoulders with one arm and flying full speed across the ground to get out of reach of the creature's hands. "Ugh, that's new, but come on, I've been around enough gnomes to get special training to deal with giants. Maryl, any ideas?" Seth stopped and landed a short distance from the thing's immediate reach. It would have to move noticeably to swing at them.

Maryl tried not to panic as she quickly ran through possible ideas. "Well, if you can keep it busy I think I can pop it." Her spell book flipped open to a page as she held her hands out. I hate trying to blast monsters with spells, but it looks like I allways have to at some point. We need this thing gone, not disabled. It could attack other towns. But the elements are difficult for me to control... Unless. An idea hit her. "Sarah, please distract it, but keep your distance." She began casting the spell, reciting some incantations in draconic.

Seth nodded at Maryl's request. "Okay." She put away her gun and began to manifest some energy into her hands. She started flying again, rising into the air and approaching the creature. She tossed two bolts of ki, sending them spiraling toward the gigantic thing as she continued to ascend.

The great sized creature twitched from the ki shots it took. Getting enraged, it Let out another roar and and began swiping at Seth.

Maryl continued to cast calmly. She glanced over at the sphere and the encasement she placed around it. It was quickly beginning to close up as its surface receded from the rings binding it. She glanced up at Seth and the creature fighting as she completed the spell. Hold on just a little longer, Sarah. She set the target location for just beneath the giant beast.

Seth backed up a bit to avoid the claws. She tossed another set of ki bolts arcing them and aiming for the creatures hands as it slashed and grabbed at her, then a single large one barreling toward its face before she continued shifting around in the air.

The creature was becomming increasingly frustrated, its hands burned. It felt like it was swatting at a very elusive fly. It lunged and reached at Seth one more time, getting its face pelted in the process but grasping her leg.

Maryl finished the spell, What originated as a central microcosom of elemental energy grew rapidly as an explosion of energy. The blast looked as if it should have errupted out of control, possibly engulfing the entire region. She held the energy within the space of the fight trying to make sure it focused on the creature as much as possible. Looking up, she grew immediately worried seeing Seth get grabbed.
