Hangin' Out By The River(Amaya learns that Emerwyn is sick and sees Lauren at 25% for the first time)Emerwyn NEW ROLEPLAYEmerwyn sighed as she let her bare feet dance in the cool water. She leaned back on her arms. It's all in my head..."No it's not." Emerwyn knew she was sick. How the doctor could even think she wasn't was absurd... Why did she even go to him? No matter what he said she wouldn't have believed him... She'd only gone because Emelyn and Ian had wanted her to... Ian had wanted her to. She looked at her hand, and imagined Ian's still holding it. She clenched her fist. What the hell am I thinking?... Nothing. Nothing at all. She shook her head, and even laughed aloud at herself. This whole place was messing her up even worse than she'd been before she arrived. She started coughing again, but drew a bottle from her bag and sipped from it. It was the cough serum Moreau had prescribed her. It tasted awful, but it did surpress the cough. But maybe I shouldn't take it so often...She shook that trouble away as well, and layed back. Here she was alone; that's what she wanted right now. She needed to be alone. She looked positively awful. Her face was thin and drawn in, and extremely pale. There were dark circles around her eyes. Her changing eating habits were doing nothing to help this, either. It made her look even more ghastly. Not that she was self-concious, she just didn't want anyone to get too worked up over her. Emerwyn started humming idly, the song that she and Timothy had written. It was going to be a nice, lonely afternoon. Amaya Vaughan Amaya wandered along the rivers edge, something she hadn't explored yet. Green gaze was completely turned to the water as she watched the fish swim about just underneath the surface. It was nice to see such clear water void of any trash or waste created by people. Most of the people here she had met so far liked the outdoors enough to keep it clean which was nice. This island would become a living hell if the jungle was cleared for something industrial.
A sigh escaped her lips and she looked down at her feet as she walked. Earlier she had tried to walk on her whole foot and ended up stubbing her long, freakish toes on the ground unless she curled them up... she had always been one to drag her feet a little bit. The young girl had also practiced her fencing in her room earlier, which was nice... but one can only stay inside for so long, so here she was.
The pumpkin shaped bookbag on her back shifted slightly as she walked, a cord trailing from it's contents and up to a large pair of headphones over her ears. Hargun Aikason Hargun had gotten up for another typical day of eating at the cafeteria, then going back home to her duplex to sit sleep or watch TV. Do something to keep her entertained, then go to sleep half the day and through the night until really dark and early morning. However, after walking out for a bit, she noticed Amaya off heading somewhere unfamiliar to bat-girl. She threw on her sunglasses and stalked after her good scaley friend. ((Short post; cant do much right this sec, but I thought thatd make a good intro xD)) Awen Zyn Awen noticed Hargun sneaking off after Amaya. She tilted her head a little bit wondering what was up. People in this place sure acted pretty strangely sometimes. But maybe something was going on in the jungle. A meeting or gathering or something? Awen really wouldn't be surprised... This is perfect! Just the way to meet new peopel and get to know the others better. She smiled happily and went after Hargun and Amaya. For awhile she stayed back behind Hargun.... but soon started to hear running water. Upon seeing the river side and squeaked and rushed forward. She meant just to catch up to Hargun to stay close..... but she ended up tripping over a vine. She really has to stop doing that... She managed not to fall, barely, but she kept stumbling forward with her momentum "Woah woah GYAH! Look out!" She shouted her voice ringing through the air. But it was too late... She ended up just running into Hargun from behind. Now finally falling, forward god knows how, she rolled and landed just behind Amaya's heels.
"oww....."
Awen cursed herself for being such a clutz. Emerwyn Emerwyn jumped up, startled by the noise. So much for my alone time...Was there anywhere to get peace and quiet in this place? She sat up and curled her wet feet under her legs. The voices were pretty close, so Emerwyn decided she'd wait for them to come; If I'm not going to be able to be alone anywhere, I may just as well deal with it.Emerwyn leaned forward and splashed her face with water. She may as well try and look a little more presentable, and a little less... dead. She caught her reflection in the water. She did look dead - like a zombie, even. Amaya Vaughan The raven-haired girl hadn't even noticed Hargun, the music in her ears blasting out any sounds or distractions that might've told her she was being followed. She did have that creepy 'being followed' feeling though, but she just shrugged it off as a feeling. After all, she was somewhat into the jungle... things were always watching her.
Her eyes squinted, noticing someone up ahead. Before she could make out who it was and wave the ground behind her shook slightly along with a thud.
She DEFINATLY heard that. Amaya turned around with a brow raised to find Awen just behind her sprawled on the ground along with Hargun. "Uh... You guys okay?" She offered a clawed hand out to the two, looking kinda creeped out as she used her free hand to push her headphones around her neck and click them off. Hargun Aikason Hargun had almost succeded in catching up to Amaya when she felt her body being pulled to the ground. A moment of shook and she satrted laughing uncontrolably. "Woah, what the hell Awen?" she looked to the girl whom she just recently met, and tried to get up, still in a giggle fit. "Wow, I dont even know why Im laughing.. but I think our cool points are splattered all over the ground now." she said brushing her shirt off then reaching down to pick up her sunglasses and put them back on. Finally recovering her stature and her breath, she looked to Amaya and smiled. "heya. I was trying to sneak up on yah.. but that kinda failed." Awen Zyn Awen blushed as she took Amaya's hand to get up. She was laughing though. "Sorry...um Hargun." She brushed the dirt off. She smiled akwardly. "Um Hiya Amaya."
She kept her back to the water and tried to block out the sound and just focus on the others. "How are you guys? Apart Hargun's splatted cool points I me-" She titled her head noticing the girl ahead. She didn't look like someone Awen had met.
"Hey guys, who's that?" She pointed to the figure ahead of them. Emerwyn Emerwyn looked at the group of people who had apparantly all fallen nearby. There was a lot of confusion... Maybe she could slip away... No, someone had caught sight of her. A blue-haired girl she had never seen was looking directly at her. She sighed again, looking away from the confusion, hoping to look like she didn't really care they were there; maybe they'd decide to pass her by. Amaya Vaughan "Mmyeah, I'd say it did." Amaya smiled slightly, silently glad that Awen had thwarted Hargun's plans. She had always been jumpy.
After helping the blue-haired girl up and giving each a "hey" in greeting, she turned to see who Awen was talking about. "I think it's... Emerwyn. I wonder what she's doing all the way out here..." It was a stupid question since she was probably just relaxing, but regardless she started to walk towards her. Hargun Aikason Hargun laughed. "Sokay." she said with a grin. "I can pick them up later on" She looked over to who Awen was talkign about then to Amaya who apparently knew. "Emerwyn? I havent met her yet... she new?" she said and hesitated before following Amaya. Awen Zyn Awen beamed thinking about another new person. that must mean that this Emerwyn person hadn't changed at all either. As nice as the people like Hargun and Amaya were she was still weirded out and worried about their... changes. She had only met one other person, Lauren, that hadn't changed yet so she was very excited to meet another fully normal human. She didn't count hte Doctor as being fully normal....
"Hi there!" She shouted up to the girl and waved as they approched.
Despite the people around her Awen's stomach tightened. As much as she tried to ignore it she could hear the river flowing. Her heart was racing, she could fall in, she coul drown, what's in the water anyway? There could be dangerous things and she'd never would know until it was too late.
"uh.. um guys..." Her voice was nervously high as she fidgeted. "I uhh...."
Awen closed her eyes tightly taking a breath trying to relax herself calm herself. breathe Awen, just breathe, she thought to herself. But all she could think of was her lungs filling with water at each breath.
"Igottago!" She said in all one word as she dashed back into the confined of the jungle heading straight away from the water. "Sorry!" Even once out of range she could still hear the water echoing in her ears. Paniced she ran straight back for the nice dry duplex.
Amaya Vaughan "I don't think so, I met her right before I changed." Amaya tried to say 'changed' as casually as she could, though one could probably tell the word held both bitterness and saddness all in one.
She paused breifly to watch Awen run off, a brow raising. The thought of being by water when she was deathly afraid of it still free from her mind. "Okay... bye Awen?" Her clawed hand gave a wave and she looked back to Hargun, shrugging and continuing to walk towards Emerwyn.
"Hi Emerwyn..." Her feet stopped once she was a few feet away from the woman, hand giving another wave but in greeting this time. "How're you doing?" Wow, she looked really... sick. Was she alright? Her brow furrowed a little bit, worry spreading across her features. Hargun Aikason Hargun returned a shrug and waved sheepishly as Awen ran off. "Wonder what got her." she said and followed Amaya. "Hiya.. there." she said with a smile, as if she had met this person before and was well aquainted. "Ooh.. she doesnt look too good.." she whispered to Amaya even though that'd already be obvious to her. She tried to keep a warm smile and safe distance in case some emotional stuff erupted. This one appeared to not have changed yet. Emerwyn Emerwyn looked up at one of the approaching figures who proved to be Amaya. Her plan had failed. At least it's a friendly face..."Oh, hey, Amaya." She tried to speak as cleary, and nonchalantly as she could. It was a feeble attempt to sound well, especially when she coughed a little afterwards. She smiled weakly. Looking over Amaya's shoulder, Emerwyn saw another face. The blue-haired girl seemed to have disappeared. She waved at the remaining stranger. May as well let the whole party in... The quicker I may get out of here...Amaya Vaughan Amaya just nodded to Hargun and crouched down to be level with Emerwyn as she sat.
"Are you feeling alright?" She chose not to directly point out how horrible she looked since she was probably well aware of that. Had something happened to make her really sick? When she met her the few times before she had seemed perfectly fine... Hargun Aikason Hargun nodded to Emer as she waved but stood where she was when Amaya crouched down to check on Emer. She figured butting in and adding to the questioning mightve made Emer nervous or uncomfortable. Well, whichever one it was, she remained where she was with a rather sympathetic look on her face, hoping that she was indeed, 'alright'. Emerwyn Emerwyn gave Amaya a wry smile. No, of course I'm not alright...But she retained her sociable air, and instead replied, "I've been better." Amaya Vaughan "Well... did you get medicane or anything? I mean, I don't trust the doctor or anything but..." Amaya trailed off, not sure of what to say. Hargun Aikason Hargun looked a bit surprised. "You went to the Doctor??" she blurted out then looked to the ground. "Heh sorry. I honestly didnt know you could go see him.. just those.. phone thingers.. is all Ive known to be able to communicate with him." she chuckled lamely. "Oh Ill just shut up. Ignore me." she grinned. Emerwyn Emerwyn first addressed the other girl's question. "Um, yes. I did, but... I don't know how Emelyn got him to see me... I wish she hadn't." Emerwyn was all of a sudden very aware of how isolated the girl had made herself. "But, please, come over here. You're not intruding." She smiled warmly, but then had another small coughing fit. She sipped her cough syrup again, only the smallest amount. "And this answers your question, Amaya. Moreau suggested my symptoms were all phsycosematic... They're all in my head." She said this last statement with venom in her voice. Amaya Vaughan "I thought you could at least... though I don't think I would even if I was sick." Amaya shivered out of fear as she looked back up at Hargun. "I'm to scared to even know what I am yet, let alone talk to any of the staff."
She fully sat down near Emerwyn now, folding her long fingers in her lap. "Wha? In your head?" Her face turned up, generally disgusted that someone could even THINK that. That wasn't possible, was it? A sickness all in your HEAD? "That's crap! How can it all be in your head?" Ah, ignorance is bliss... or something like that. Hargun Aikason Hargun smiled. "Thanks." she said, and sat over on the other side of Emer. "I talked to Lauren of the staff. She was actually pretty nice but.. did look a tad scary. Wouldnt matter though.. theyre all untrustworthy." She listened intently on Amaya's exclaiming. "Maybe its.. the change? I dunno. But yea, theres no way it could be 'all in your head.'" Emerwyn The words of her peers strengthened her. No, not a chance... no way in Hell... She thought of the blood. Definately not."The change?" She hadn't thought of that, but she quickly shook off the idea. "No... I'd actually been getting sick before I even came here." She neglected to tell them just why she'd gotten sick... One person was enough. "However, my conditions did get worse after I arrived. I suppose it could be... I mean, everyone must react differently..." She paused in thought at this. "What about you two? Did you go through anything strange-" she caught herself. "-besides... changing...?" Amaya Vaughan "Don't get me started on Lauren." Amaya glared over to Hargun, though was more glaring at the fact she disliked Thorn moreso then her batty friend.
"Did you go to the doctors at all before you came here?" She asked, concerned. At the question she blinked and looked at Hargun before stopping to think. "Not... really. I don't think so. Besides the odd cravings nothing else happened BEFORE I changed..." Hargun Aikason Hargun looked at bit nervous at Amaya but didnt exactly notice her glare. "Yea.. the only thing I had other than cravings was a good change in my sleeping pattern. But it only lasted a few days then I got myself back on track." she gave a fake cough. "Course now Im staying up late again." Emerwyn Emerwyn felt, surprisingly, a little ashamed at Amaya's question. "No, I hadn't... I doubt they'd have given me an answer much different than Moreau's... I mean, I really can't seem to figure it out myself. Usually, when I get sick, I have some kind of herbal remedy for it... but my symptoms don't make sense. The last thing I needed was a doctor either telling me I was making it all up, or sending me in for freakish testing and experimentations." The irony hit her like a club in the face. She breathed deeply, willing herself not to cough. She resisted the temptation to reach for the cough medicine again. "I guess..." she mumbled, more to herself then to either of her comrades... One of which she hadn't even been formally introduced to. Eager to change the subject, she addressed her. "I'm sorry, but I don't even know you're name yet. I guess you heard Amaya, I'm Emerwyn." Amaya Vaughan "That's odd..." Amaya trailed off, the fact that her symptoms having not made any sense was rather weird. Hargun Aikason "Oh, Im Hargun." she grinned. "Yea, I was afraid Id might say it wrong or something. Tend to do that I do.." Standing up for a second and doing a quick courtsey, she said "Well its nice to meet you, Emerwyn." then sat down in a slight giggle fit. God Im wierd.Emerwyn Emerwyn actually laughed. She was glad the mood was lightening up. This was exactly what she wanted. Almost all of the meetings she'd yet had with the Islanders here were so depressing. Perhaps, when everyone got used to their changes Could that even happen? things would lighten up all around. Too exhausted to stand up, Emerwyn recieved the curtsy with a deep nod of the head and a rolling hand, in a mock bow. Amaya Vaughan Amaya started to laugh at the two, deciding she was too lazy at the moment to stand and do anything of her own.
After her laughing had subsided she flopped onto her back and glanced over at Emerwyn. "Were not interupting any of your 'alone time' are we?" Hargun Aikason Finally ctaching normal breath with herself, Hargun gave a serious look. "Yea cause if we are you can just tell me to fly.. er buzz off...." she said and scratched at the tiny furs on her neck and shifted her position a bit. Emerwyn Emerwyn smiled genuinely. "No, not at all. To be quite honest with you, all I had wanted was to be alone... But, I think you proved me wrong." Amaya Vaughan A smile spread across her features. "Glad to know I might be making someone on this island feel better." Her arms folded underneath her head as she let the sun warm her scales. "So where are you from?" Hopefully that was an open enough question to keep the conversation positive. Lauren Granger Lauren was exploring again, not able to find Awen in her room. She really wanted her to be the first person to see her change cause she kind of liked her, not to mention she was included into her dream as part of Thorns distorted view of 'family'. But, she never really explored the river so she though hey, why the ******** not?! Randomnly she came unknowingly onto a gathering, she smelled them before she saw them. Not noticing the smell before she only knew one smelled slightly like food to her species, the other human maybe?? Another unknown. She was intrigued and decided to come onto the gathering to connect the smell to who these people were. A surprise hit her face when she noticed Amaya had been the food, wtf?! She remembered reading something about reptiles being a common thing in a yellow mongooses diet. Putting the small instinct towards the back of the mind she cheerfully greeted everyone, "Hey, no one told me a party was going on!" Her claws waved, slightly pointed teeth revealing in a smile. Thorns tail wagged in a friendly manner. Hargun Aikason Hargun sat quietly and listening in on what they were saying able to be distractive by the bugs crawling around and still listen very clearly to the conversation, then suddenly jolted a bit, her keen hearing picking up the sound of Lauren heading their way. "Sounds like someones comming..?" she muttered to herself, then pulled a simple smile out. "Oh, hey there Lauren!" she said waving then. Something seemed a bit different about her, but she couldnt tell. Bravely lowering her sunglasses, she thought she might see it better in the light. Squinting, then sitting very upright, looked very suprised to see Lauren.. had now gone through changes. Emerwyn "I'm from England originally, but I moved to New York when I graduated high school." Emerwyn was interupted, however, when another figure began to approach. She pushed her glasses up her nose to see better. It was Lauren, and she had changed. Am I the only one left now? She'd still been counting down two weeks. Time was running out. Amaya Vaughan Amaya blinked, her head spinning around to see a slightly changed Lauren. Her hands, ears, and eyes were a bit weird... but other then that she didn't look much different. "Hey Thorn." She said rather unenthusiasticly.
"England? That's neat. I'm from the states... Pennsylvania, to be spesific. You heard of it?" Her question was pretty much directed at all of them, though she was making a point at trying to ignore Lauren. She was in a good mood and really didn't feel like getting in an argument right now. Lauren Granger Lauren smiled back, not having the terribly welcoming greeting she expected. She sat down next to Amaya. "So, what's going on? Anything.... different?" She hinted obviously wanting someone to talk about her changing. Hargun Aikason Hargun watched as Lauren sat down then shot a glance at Amaya. She caught on a little to Amaya's ignoring of Lauren and titled her head a bit. She remembered her not wanting to discuss her earlier, but felt it was a tad out of her place to not play along. "Oh Ive never been to Pennsylvania.. most of the Westward states and down south. Im from Oregon." she said and looked to Emer. "From England? Really? Is it pretty nifty out there?" Emerwyn Emerwyn wasn't exactly sure she liked Thorn very much. She didn't fully trust anyone who liked the Doctor. But she would not ignore someone like that. "Hi, Thorn, how are you?" Then she turned to the conversation that was only spurred on by the desire to leave Thorn out. "Well, I couldn't say much for it. I didn't really see much of it. I'd never even been to England until I moved to America. My parents pretty much shut me in my whole time living there. I was home-schooled, too. It was the perfect release to move to New York. And," she motioned to Amaya. "I would hope I knew where Pennsylvania, considering our close proximity." Amaya Vaughan "Not really. Things have been pretty average." Average as things could get on an island where you turned into an animal. "Oh! Do you guys know Ambrose?" Amaya quickly sat up, grinning her sharp teeth. Maybe if she let them in on her fencing lessons they would be interested too! Though Hargun might not be able to hold an epee... danm. There went that idea.
"Aww..." She genuinly sounded sad that Hargun haden't been to PA. "I love Pennsylvania. Mostly it's just cows, corn, and Amish but... it's away from everything, which makes it so awsome." Yuck, now she was getting herself homesick. "I've never been out of PA though so... yeah." Her shoulders gave a light shrug at this.
Her eyes widdened as Emerwyn had said she was from New York of all places. "Wow, you lived in the big city?" She winced visably, unable to stand the city herself. Lauren Granger Thorn accidently emitted a low growl at the fact that either no one cared or got her hint about talking about her change. She caught herself putting her claws up towards her mouth, "Excuse me..." She said politely. Jeez, what was with her? Wouldn't she just normally be pissed and walk away. She didn't need them. But for some reason she felt compelled to be around people even if they didn't accept her in immediatly, she could at least try. "I've never been to Pennsylvania either, only Washington and California really." Thorn has never been much of anywhere. California was the first time she had been out of her own state. Why she chose California to run away to she never really knew, just sounded adventurous in a way. "Amish sound fun, they have the hats!" It was almost as if the akward Lauren before her mother died was comming back out. Trying to insert herself further into the conversation, "Yeah but the big cities are pretty much all the same as far as the alleys and streets go, or so I've heard." Many people she was around told her the same stories, nothing much changed only the people around and the weather. Living on the streets in New York during the winter would so totally suck. Hargun Aikason "Im prone to cows and corn... uh.. maybe not Amish." Hargun laughed. "And I dont go near big cities usually. Theyre too intimidating.. to me at least. A quiet town's good enough for me. And yea Amaya, I know Ambrose.." she said then raised an eyebrow. Amayas remark came a little out of no where. She started to sway a bit, her butt getting a bit numb. "Cali's pretty neat, well the attractions are.. never actually stayed there for a long time. Pretty much only for vacation." Emerwyn "Ambrose? Yes, I know him. He's really nice." She remembered that he'd asked her to visit him if she ever wanted to talk... She made a mental note to do so. Then the conversation veered back. "I've never been as far as California, but I have been to Pennsylvania. My friend, Ketta, loved Amish country... We'd go to Lancester County..." she trailed off. The memories became painful. Amaya Vaughan "California? So you were on the other side of the contry..." Yeah, so she couldn't leave someone out of a conversation if it killed her... sue her. She gave out a small laugh at the whole 'straw hats' thing. "Yep! Straw hats, horse buggies, clydsdales pulling plows, the whole nine yards." Her frown then returned though as she lay back onto the grass once more. "That's why I don't like the city... it's too much like a cardboard cut out. The people and scenary never change. In the boonies things are constantly changing, even if it's as subtle as a tree being struck down by lightning." Amaya's hands went back up to prop underneath her head.
She then turned to Hargun, but announced her newfound hobby to all. "He's actually teaching me how to fence! I got my first lesson the other day, it was pretty fun. And it's something to get your mind off being insanely bored around here." Her long toes curled and uncurled as they waved from side to side in an expression of happiness.
Amaya then perked up even more as Lancaster was mentioned. "I lived in Lancaster! Down in Nottingham, actually." The change in Emerwyn's mood seemed to elude her. Lauren Granger Thorn was happy to be in the conversation again. It only took a little patience and a lot of persitance to butt her way in and while she wasn't patient she was definately persistant. "Yeah, I was I suppose, I wonder where we are now?" It suddenly occured to her that not even she knew where she was. "And I donno, I loved it at first, fun and adventurous but after a while I missed my small town and my friends." She chuckled a bit nervously. "Ambrose... I've met him briefly. So, you're fencing?" She imagined Amaya in a three musketeer outfit, large feather and all and couldn't help but chuckle at that thought. "I don't know how you can get bored out here with so much wild life but to each their own." Thorn layed down in the grass looking up at the sky, it was a beautiful day and felt good to be outside in the sun. Ahh... the sun! The sun felt better than usual and Thorn wondered why. Hargun Aikason Hargun just started laughing all of a sudden. "I wouldnt be able to fence now.. you know that... with an epee at least..." she said. "One of my fingers if long enough to qualify as one." After grinning and giggling to herself she gave a curious look at Lauren. "Ive wondered that myself... maybe we're in the Carribean.. or somewhere around there? Its actually pretty warm out here. And I havent found it very boring actually. Looking at my daily schedule it does seem monotonous, but.. heh.. Im getting on just fine." All of a sudden she remembered her sketchbook again. This was the second time in a while she actually considered it. "Cant draw anymore.. just remembered. Usually thats what I did every day before I changed." frowning she attempted to grab a stick off the ground, only it was very unstable in her grip. "See.. cant even hold a utensil up right." Emerwyn The conversation was drifting everwhere, and Emerwyn was getting lost on her own thoughts. When she came to again, she figured now was a good time to get back to her room and curl up with some tea... maybe do some writing... She picked up her medicine and coat. "Um, I'd really better be leaving. Thank you - it was nice talking... really." She nodded to each of them. "Amaya, Lauren, Hargun." She started to walk away, coughing again, loudly. She took her bottle and sipped from it. Amaya Vaughan "I have no idea either." Amaya just shrugged, somewhere in the ocean on an island didn't really narrow it down. "The wildlife does do a lot for me, but it can't keep me occupied for long. I start thinking too much." She motioned to her head and frowned. Thinking was bad, which is why she sought so much human contact.
Her frown deepened even more as she watched Hargun. She desperatly wanted to say "I'm sorry" but what would that accomplish, really? "Well, would could always learn to draw with your toes. People who have lost arms have picked up painting with their feet." Yeah, that was a little better then saying sorry.
As Emerwyn walked away, she waved. "Bye Emerwyn! You take care okay?" Amaya sat up and winced as she coughed, saying quietly to the group and kind of to herself. "I hope she's alright... She looked really sick." Lauren Granger An idea flashed into Lauren's brain as she sat up, "Well, you have pen like fingers, you could dip them into ink and it would do just as good as a pen!! Just keep dippin' them in the ink when you run out. It would create kick a** art I bet!" She was surprised Hargun hadn't thought of ways around her new disability since she loved art so much. "And useing your toes would work too!" She wondered if her hands would be able to draw still. If anyone could think of a creative way around that sort of situation it was Lauren. Adapt to survive! She waved at Emer, "Bye, nice talkin' to ya too. Hope you feel better." She wondered why Emer always seemed sick. Hargun Aikason "Aw.. see yah Emerwyn." she said sympathically and waved. Turning back to Amaya and Lauren she laughed. "I know.. I know. Toesies.. and your idea about the finger tip and ink sounds pretty nifty. Its just I mean obviously Im SO used to just my hand for drawing that I never would consider having to act as if it were amputated.." she looked at her creepy long fingers for a moment and gave a twisted look. "Is... is it ironic or what... me turning into a bat and all? Er, at least what we assume.. its gotten a bit unanimous thats what Im changing into, but do you think.. this was purposeful?" she asked then shook her head. "Gah, Im positive no.. I mean several animals are like.. unable to truly use their digits. Anyways.. Ill start practicing with my toes." smiling, she attempted gripping the twing again, but with her feet. The fact they were already double jointed contriubuted to her batty, clingy nails and she picked it up with ease, grinning. ((I seriously have double jointed toes though xD)) Amaya Vaughan Amaya blinked at Lauren, rather surprised. "Yeah, I never thought of that." She looked back over to Hargun watch her grip the twig and laughed. "Jeeze. I've been to scared to really grip anything with my toes." She raised them in the air and put one down at a time down the row then flexed them before putting them back on the ground and lifting herself to a standing position.
"Well, as much as I hate to leave the conversation the temperature is starting to drop and getting my tired." She started to walk off, giving a wave back to Hargun and Thorn. "See ya guys later!"

Horrors On The Beach(Amaya meets up with Pyroth and Ambrose, gets her second fencing lesson, and sees Cassidy at 50%)Amaya Vaughan Amaya lay on the beach, her arms folded behind her head and a large pair of headphones setting over her ears. Vertigo blasted from the speakers and her head nodded to the beat. Her eyes remained closed to sheild from the harsh rays of the sun as it heated her scales. For the most part she was compleyely oblivious to her surroundings. Pyroth Ignatius Pyroth had come out of his duplex for a walk, feeling that the plain walls had pressed in on him long enough. His instincts could do him no harm out here, he reckoned, being awake and all. As if running on instinct, he headed to the beach, the place where he and Colche had spent many a contented hour whiling away the time that seemed endless here.
He raised a brow as he spotted Amaya not too far away, but didn't approach straight away, she seemed quite content. Instead he settled down just above the high tide line, setting out his beach towel to sit on, glad to get his bare feet (they were always bare these days thanks to the claws) off the scalding sands. Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose was feeling quite well the next day, almost walking on euphoria. The scene playing over and over in his mind of the conversation with Emelyn the night before. THe conversation, her understanding, the ease that he had found himself talking with her. She had even somehow conveyed a great deal of the gravity of the situation to Ambrose - but even her bluntness didn't seem quite so heavy as it had been when he was dealing with the concepts himself. However, he had not completely lost his head. There was still the niggling feeling he couldn't shake- the guilt he felt about starting to actually see someone - even if it was just a date... "just a date". He had dated other women before Angelina.... taken them to movies, to dinner, even to dances. None of them had ever felt as meaningful as Angelina. Then again, he had never been able to really TALK to any woman like he did until he met Angelina.... and Emelyn could listen as well.... She was bright, friendly, and thoughtful. She wasn't afraid to put her thoughts to words, or to provide an ear for him to be honest to. And he had felt a click with her... something was right.... right? But that same bothering feeling also wouldn't let him forget that part of that initial curiousity about her might very well be due to her familiar appearance.... an appearance that might automatically lead him to feel more comfortable around her. Sometimes, Ambrose wanted to tell that little voice to shut up, but that generally served to make him feel more guilty. He DID love Angelina... and he didn't want to lose her..... but as Emelyn said... he had to accept that there was no way Moreau would let him off the Island... even IF he didn't change any further - which was seeming more and more unlikely ever sence he saw Greer. He sighed, putting his hands in the pockets of his short khakis as he found himself wandering from the cafeteria out towards one of his favorite spots on the Island - the beach, bringing along his fencing equipment, just in case he felt up for it. HE would see where things led him... he didn't believe in fate - He had cte on taking his future into his own hands.... regardless of the fact that it led him here - out of control of his life once again. Hope... hope was such a delicate subject. Fate, belief in onesself, the conversation was spinning in his head. But he would not stop fencing -he loved it. And maybe, someday, it could still pay off. But he didn't need someone else to tell him he was good. Really. He sighed, looking across the sandy beach - and saw that two figures were there already - Amaya once again - apparently listening to her music again, and Pyroth - the other canine-person who he hadn't seen in some time. He raised a hand in a wave and walked over towards Amaya to see what she had been up to, and if she had been practicing, eager to get his mind off heavier things. Amaya Vaughan Catching the glimpse of a figure approaching from the corner of her eye she blinked and turned her head to see both Ambrose AND Pyroth. Oh god, how long had Pyroth been there? How rude of her! Sitting up, she pushed her headphones back around her neck and reached into her bookbag to click the tiny contraption off. "Hi Ambrose, heya Pyroth." She smiled somewhat nervously, remembering the tiny explosion in the cafeteria. The guy had every right to be upset though. Amaya stood and brushed the sand off her baggy red pants and hoodie. Pyroth Ignatius Pyroth spotted Ambrose as soon as he stepped onto the beach, probably thanks to a combination of his slightly more attuned senses of late and his training prior to the island. He returned the blonde man's wave with a nod of greeting. As Amaya sat up, he grinned faintly, it would be nice if he could relax enough to zone out like that, but he had always been too damn tense. In fact he was even beginning to miss Khan somewhat, his old tattooing partner used to make himself a small fortune for his skills in aromatherapy and massage too.
"Hello again." he replied his expression still warm. It was too pleasant a day to be truly down, he reckoned. In fact, if he were younger, he'd probably go for a jog. In fact, toss the younger part to hell, perhaps he'd go for a jog later regardless of his perceived health. Ambrose Maurlias "Hi Amaya, Hi Pyroth!" Ambrose said with a smile as he approached the two. "I haven't seen you in some time, Pyroth. Have you been doing alirght?" He smiled, glad to see that he hadn't changed any more yet either. "And Amaya - how about yourself" He grined "Practicing your footwork?" Amaya Vaughan Amaya stretched and walked towards the two, smiling. She looked to Pyroth, wondering how he was fairing as well. After that whole cafeteria thing she had tried to seek him out just to see that he was alright but had failed. It was a nice coincidence that he had run into her instead of the other way around.
"Yeah! I'm getting a lot better too!" She lit up at the mention of fencing. It was one of the few things these days that kept her mind focused and free from wandering off into darker subjects. Pyroth Ignatius "It has been a while, hasn't it?" Pyroth nodded to Ambrose "Me? I've been okay, my moods have been very erratic though, you know it's bad when you notice it yourself." his mood was a bit brighter today though and though he spoke of the onset of the animalistic features, he wasn't too dire about it. "If I catch that Doctor, I'm dragging him up to his own lab and giving him a forcible taste of his own medicine, see how he likes becoming a greedy pig."
Pyroth was still mad about the dramatic increase in his hunger, always a bit of a drama merchant, his weight had been one of his prime concerns back home, here however he was eating unhealthily and he was eating a LOT.
"I didn't even like roast beef till I came here." that comment even earned an exasperated grin from him, he was out of angst, only humour remained.
He raised a brow at Ambrose and then Amaya as they spoke of something concerning footwork, he didn't really know enough to comment so opted to listen. Ambrose Maurlias ((Rawr - sorry, I was typing and my laptop went crazy and opened up a dozen windows or so and ... yeah)) Ambrose smiled to Amaya. "That's wonderful! We'll have to put that to the test - and maybe, if you're ready I can teach you something new" He grinned, patting her on the shoulder before turning apologetically to Pyroth. "I'm sorry, Pyroth - it must sound like we're speaking another language. I've started to teach Amaya how to fence." He smiled proudly. IT felt good - especially seeing the outright enthusiasm in Amaya's eyes - he was really doing something helpful to her here. She was a wonderful person and didn't deserve to be here - no one did, but she was going out of her way to help others while she was here. "And unfortunately I know how you feel.... I've been getting better I Think since it's been a while since I changed. Or maybe I'm just becoming accustomed to it." He winced. "I never had a problem with meat before... but that seems to be what I'm craving above all else now." He admitted. "And in much greater quantities." He snorted. "I think Moreau would definately deserve that." Amaya Vaughan "Tell me about it." Her expression faultered. "I'm not normally one for revenge but, man it'd be funny to give that doctor a shot of his own." A shiver went up her spine at the thought of needles, now the fear having been increased ten-fold. "And before I came here I could barely stomach a salad and now that's all I can eat." She gave a hoarse laugh and her shoulders slumped slightly.
Upon hearing that something new might be in store for her next lesson she gave a sharp-toothed grin. "Yay!" When Amaya had a hobby to preoccupie herself with it was like she was a kid in a candy store. Pyroth Ignatius Fencing? Pyroth admired the sport but had never gotten involved, any blades in his hands were for killing and little else. He didn't quite understand the art of the thrust and parry, the delicate slashes of the blade, none of that. He could kill a man with a regular dinner knife but couldn't deflect a blow for the life of him. It was odd how far away the world he had left behind seemed now, here on the island. He was glad to see the back of it.
"Ah! Fencing, it's a difficult skill to master isn't it?"
He said nothing more about the changes but did feel a bit of worry nestle it's way into his gut, other islanders were getting better? Why was he getting worse?
It didn't bear thinking about here and now so he pushed it aside.
"I'd think that if it ever came to that, we would have to have a vote to see what animal he deserved. And salad? That's not too bad, used to like it actually, it kept me slim."
Slim in Pyroth's terms generally meant "almost terminally underweight" Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose raised an eyebrow at Pyroth's protruding ribs, and began to wonder if he might be anorexic. "You really should eat... despite my increased appetite I have really not gained any extra weight. I think my metabolism has been going through the roof in dealing with all of these changes." He admitted. "I've always been athletic, but my body's never demanded quite this much food before. I'm glad it's not just me." "And fencing can be difficult to master... but not that difficult to learn the basics. Once you start competing, though, the opponents you face increase dramitically in skill in the higher eschelons that you get. There's a BIG difference between regionals and nationals, let me tell you." He smiled, but the smile faltered a bit as he kicked at the sand, reminding himself of something he wouldn't be able to go back to that he hadn't quite told them before. "I was hoping to make it to the Olympics in the next few years.... I was training pretty hard for it, actually." He said more quietly. "But!" He said, trying to give it a positive spin. "That would make me an adequate teacher, I'd think." He forced a smile to the two of them. "You're welcome to join in on the lessons if you'd like, Pyroth." He nodded to Amaya. "I've been teaching her the footwork. About to see what she's been working on since our last instruction." Amaya Vaughan Slim? Jeeze, the guy was a skeleton. Amaya opened her mouth to point out how he should eat more but figured it would get them nowhere and said something else. "Yeah, I just never liked salad before and as for an animal?" She paused to think before grinning manically. "A slug! Or a worm! Ewwww!" She stuck out her large tounge on reflex but quickly put it back in her mouth once she realized what she was doing.
Her smile faultered and she looked at Ambrose. Man, he wanted to go to the Olympics? What a dream to be crushed. Noteing the quickl subject change, she went along with it since it seemed as though he didn't want to dwell on it. "Yeah! It'd be fun to have another person to learn with." Pyroth Ignatius Pyroth nodded, that was good news at least, he had spent quite a lot of time agonising over wether or not he would get fat from his binge eating. Pyroth had problems with his weight when it came down to it, but would never face up to it. "I probably should eat a little, if my metabolism's gone up, it won't make that much of a difference." So no more starving himself for days to make up for the days he did eat, it seemed.
"It always looked appealing to me." he nodded. Though it would have been more interesting if proper injuries were the norm. Injuries gave it an edge. "Wow, you were almost olympic class? No wonder you can teach. The best I could do was tattoo." And kill..he was always good at that, not that it was a very demanding skill, it had just always been there since he was young.
"Me, learn? Nah I'd mess up horribly, teaching me new tricks is hard work, I have a tendency to stick to what I'm good at, when it comes to sharp objects, I have a lack of tact all my own."
Pyroth found Amaya's minor reflex slightly amusing, the same way he was beginning to see the funny side of his ear reflexes. "I've had my share of temptations with the native wildlife, wouldn't be caught dead sinking to that level " That was a little white lie, he had hunted once, but it was while half awake, and, he convinced himself, probably a vivid dream.
"I could try to learn but trust me, It would just be comedy relief."
((Sorry slow post ;__ wink ) Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose shrugged. "You're more than welcome if you like, Pyroth. Everyone can be a little unsure of themselves to begin with. Besides, they say that the expression 'you can't teach an old dog new tricks' is a dirty lie." His smile faltered as he realized that that expression might not have been in the best of tastes. "I'm sorry, Pyroth... I didn't mean anything by that.." "But yes - Eat, man! You need it!" He glanced at Pyroth's tatoos. "And it looks like you were quite skilled. I hear that that takes a confident, steady hand." He turned back to Amaya with a grin. "Ready to show off what you've learned?" He dropped into the en-guarde position in front of her "Show Pyroth he doesn't know what he's missing." He gave Pyroth a quick wink. "Once again - I advance, you retreat, I retreat, you advance" He smiled, and began the drill. Amaya Vaughan She couldn't help but laugh a little bit. "Awww, oh well." Green eyes looked at the tattoos on Pyroth and she looked at the with amazment for a few moments. "Wow, a tattoo artist? That's neat!" Amaya smiled but then her attention shifted back to Ambrose and she nodded, getting in stance and looking at her feet to force her heels onto the ground before the drill began. Cassidy Smith Well, getting lunch had been downright insulting. Cassidy was used to being, well, slightly taller than average. Having to suddenly strain to be seen by the cafeteria workers was, well. Stupid. Still. With a plate of meatballs and two rare steaks which she'd already cut up into bite-size pieces, Cass left the uncomfortably air-conditioned cafeteria and headed out to the warm beach, albeit awkardly, on her knees. Concentrating on not stubbing her knee on a sharp rock or spilling her lunch, she came out onto the beach, her head down. The sound of voices caught her attention, and she raised her head to see. Oh, hell. People. Cassidy half-considered fleeing, but speed was not quite an easy thing right now. Pyroth Ignatius "Not a problem." Pyroth gave a vague shrug, traditional puns were harmless. "I'm not a canine yet." he added with the faintest of fanged grins.
Ambrose sounded a bit like Khan, always telling him to eat, of couse Ambrose had never reminded him before but the reminder was there. He probably would make a bit of an effort to eat something, perhaps it would calm the instincts that raged all too often in his head these days.
As for his tattoos, he cast a glance at them "Oh these? These were done by a more steady hand than mine, my old shop partner Khan did these for me based on traditional rank markings for my tribe. Personally I'm better at more detailed work, he was always better at solid balanced hues."
"I might give it a try sometime." Pyroth pondered, surely it wouldn't hurt to learn to control that natural instinct in him when faced with a blade? Fencing did seem to have a rythym to it, perhaps he could set a rythym to his own movements? Hmmm, it did seem a bit out of place with his fighting style though, his whole style was based around the pretence you were harmless, silent and then a surprise blow to a vulnerable spot. Either way, it wouldn't hurt to observe a bit.
As he watched the fight, Pyroth once again was drawn to movement not far away, Cassidy had come onto the beach. Of course right now to Pyroth she was unrecognisable, he raised a brow ever so slightly before giving her a welcoming nod, her appearance had changed quite drastically but you learned to deal with things in this place it seemed. Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose began the basic drill again with Amaya, starting slow, pausing between movements, and keeping the forward/backwards movements pretty evenly spaced at first, while carrying on the conversation with Pyroth. Neither of them were holding a blade- they still rested on a rock nearby. "Well, I suppose it's difficult to discern just where the barrier between human and canine is...." Ambrose admitted, wondering just when he would be considered actually canine... IF he would. "Well, regardless, I'm sure if you had as much practice as you say, that your work must have been quite talented. Have you given though to drawing? Like Hargun?" But while Ambrose was keeping a conversation with Pyroth, he made sure to Keep his eyes on Amaya, encouraging. He DID notice some improvement. "Aha! You have been practicing! I can tell!" He grinned. His back was to the path that led to the beach, and his attention on Amaya, so he had not noticed Cassidy's approach. Amaya Vaughan Most of Amaya's attention had been on her own feet and Ambrose as she concentrated. She really needed more practice still...
Upon looking up at Ambrose she caught sight of someone approaching. Was that... Cassid-OH s**t!
The back of her feet caught on a piece of driftwood and she tumbled backwards after much flailing, landing on her back in the sand with her arms flopped outwards. "Ha! Ha ha... ha... ow..." Cassidy Smith Cassidy tilted her head, and hobbled her way across the sand. This was ridiculous. She couldn't keep doing this. It was hard on her knees, for one. She'd have to figure something else out. "Fencing practice, I assume?" Just act casual. Nothing out of the ordinary at all. Nope. No way. Cassidy attempted to smile, though it was half-hearted. She felt sick. Pyroth Ignatius Pyroth nodded, that was what worried him, was humanity all in the mind or was it tied to something more aesthetic? "I'm sure we will both find out in time where that barrier lies." there wasn't much more he could say, he had made a resolution to cross those bridges when he came to them.
"I got pretty decent over time, with practice and tuition, haven't had a chance to draw since I got here though, I don't really have much stationary and I was trying to conserve it. Getting washed up here deprived me of quite a lot of luggage, I should apply for some I think, see if the Doctor feels generous."
Pyroth was distinctly impressed by the movements of the two sparring partners, Ambrose in particular had an ease and fluidity in his movement that was commendable, Amaya, too was pretty faultless. Well...at least until she fell over.
Pyroth winced as she hit the sand, act unassuming he had been thinking, ah well. He nodded to Cassidy "The two of them were just showing me a fencing example and getting some practice in I think." He really wanted to ask if the girl had received yet another injection but was too worried to, after all, when one person moved onto the next stage, the others quickly followed it seemed. Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose was just about to mention to Amaya to keep her eyes on his when she fell backwards over the log. "Amaya!?" he stepped forward, instinctually offering her a hand up. "Are you alright??" It was then that he heard Cassidy's voice calling from behind his head. He chuckled a bit self-consciously before even turning around. "Yes, actually - I've been teaching Amay-" He turned around to address the person he was speaking to, and somewhere in the turn managed to lose the rest of his sentence. Cassidy had changed. But moreso than that, it was becoming painfully obvious the extent that the morphological changes that could happen to them. Her face looked so different - more inhuman than even greer's with the hardened yellow nose. She was carrying a plate of food, and the scales had spread over the majority of her body... including over a long tail. She was kneeling down for some reason, but the strangest thing was that there were feathers on her arms? Were... they actually her feathers? Or just some accessory? He wouldn't stare. She was probably having more than her own share of problems. And at least, thank God, Greer had already taken the fall for shaking him out of his dream-world that they couldn't possibly change more than they already had. He felt guilty about probably not helping Greer's self-opinion, but at least Cassidy- who was more likely more fragile than Greer in regards to the change - especially its serpentine nature - he would be stronger to. "Cassidy, I'm sorry.... you... got your third injection, didn't you...?" He said quietly, sympathetically, dropping his stance completely. He glanced quickly back to Pyroth, although Cassidy was more in the forefront of his mind at the moment. "I'm sure the Doctor would be willing to oblige if you ask - he doesnt' seem hesitant to buy things for us... though if he heard your comment about the swine serum he might have second thoughts on getting you good quality paper." He added teasingly. Amaya Vaughan Amaya took Ambrose hand and hauled herself up. "Third in-..." She looked down at Cassidy and just stared for what seemed like forever before finally shaking her head and forcfully shutting her eyes to keep from looking. Poor Cassidy. At the time she couldn't think of anything to say and settled to just kind of... stare at her feet. "Hi Cassidy..." Cassidy Smith "I suppose I did get my third injection." Cassidy didn't look at them. Coming down here had maybe been a bad idea... oh, man. She probably looked like an idiot. She sat herself down cross-legged, her deformed feet plainly obvious. "I don't suppose you folks know of any snakes that have feathers? But don't stop on my account." She popped a bit of meat into her mouth, and swallowed it whole. Pyroth Ignatius Pyroth mentally cringed as Ambrose asked what he had been reluctant to, so this next injection would be a doozy it seemed. He just hoped he wouldn't gain too much more fur, it was already quite high maintainence at the moment. However, the attention shift did give him a chance to get a better look at Cassidy, those weren't feathers were they?
He grabbed at the thread of humour however, definately, steer the conversation away from the dire, don't slip into that cycle again. With a grin he added "He probably heard me. Knowing this island, he's got it bugged from top to toe and sits cackling at our misery. It would be more dramatic that way. Either way, I'm asking for some more clothes to wear, and some art materials, they can be poison tainted, I could care less, I just need desperately to get changed."
There wasn't much he could really say to fill the following silence other than. "Ah well, at least soon we will all be in the same boat."
"Snakes with feathers? I've never heard of any in nature, legends perhaps? " he paused "So those /are/ feathers then? I hope they aren't mixing the serums now." Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose patted Amaya on the shoulders and moved to put himself between Amaya and Cassidy in hopes that Amaya would be able to recover from her feaux paus while out of direct line of sight. He knew how delicate emotionally one could be after a change. Not to mention probably rather tender physically as well. But he couldn't help but eye her legs as she brought them around when she sat down. A bit of fear ran down his spine, setting his fur on end. Her simplified legs all but promised more to come - and just how great the physical changes would get. Aubrey had said that they would probably keep their hands... but would they still be able to stand up?? He had been thinking about offering for Cassidy to join them in fencing before he saw her legs and now realized that that would just be grinding salt into a wound. But... what about the rest of them? Would he be reduced to all fours like a real animal? That... that would be unbrearable, above all else. "No, it's fine, Cassidy. If you need to talk about anything... anything at all- we're here for you." He smiled, knowing Amaya would understand. "But... if you want some more time... I understand that as well - but dont' feel bad about interrupting. We've got nothing but time here, unfortunately..." "Sounds like you have a plan at least, Pyroth." Ambrose said to him. "we definately need at least hobbies here... lest we DO go crazy. Something to keep our minds creative and to minimize any temptation that might arise from other new instincts... I mean it might not be an issue, but I think it's a good thing to focus on the things that make us who we are." Ambrose had given this a lot of thought. Amaya Vaughan "Feathers...?" Amaya blinked and finally forced herself to look up, but only at the bright feathers on her arms. "I didn't think snakes had feathers... ever..." She raised a brow, confused. It was obvious that Cassidy was turning into a snake but... why feathers?
For the most part she remained silent, fear creeping up her spine. She wasn't turning into a snake or anything but... a lizard was still pretty far from human. Her hands cupped in her lap as she remained behind Ambrose, gaze cast downward. Cassidy Smith "Mixing... serums?" Cassidy repeated, dully. "Oh no. Oh, god no. They wouldn't try something like that, would they?" She rubbed her temples, letting out a slight whimper. "I'm not even turning into something real. Great. Just... just great." Her voice cracked; she cleared her throat. "Maybe I shouldn't have come down here..." Pyroth Ignatius "Keep occupied, never stop to think or you'll think forever, that's the motto I'm trying to keep right now. It's hard but it helps. And yep, I hadn't thought of that, might as well concentrate on our humanity in case it slips away, I know I've been doing that lately, suppress the beast embrace yourself."
His gaze returned once more to Cassidy and he felt that familiar pang of terror. Perhaps making that swine comment wasn't a good idea really, what if he ended up as a dog-pig or something?
"I hope they aren't, but here and now, I'd say they are capable of anything at all. I'm really sorry if I've upset you, I have all the social graces of a shopping trolley." he grinned apologetically. Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose shook his head fearfully. "I have no idea what they're planning... I can't think of any snakes - or reptiles for that matter that actually have feathers... except extinct ones, right? Like.... the... uh... archae-optrixs? right?" He shook his head, confused. As if animals wasn't bad enough, were they trying to make actual monsters out of us? "And Unfortunately I haven't been able to keep myself out of my thoughts. I've been probably doing far too much thinking for my own good." He sighed. "I guess another problem is figuring out what part of things that you feel are foreign... I mean they're emotions, it's not like something living in you, it's... urges, desires.. far more insidious in trying to distinguish what's you and what isn't." He glanced around at the company. "I'm sorry... I seem to be rather depressing to be around recently. Greer hit her second stage as well - I don't know if you knew... but I had this whole... system down before I saw that the changes really could go this far... you know... it didn't seem that they could really do this to us - genetically or whatever... until you see it." He sighed. No - he wouldn't go into it again. It was a dream - a pleasant string of hope that he had held onto. Unless for some unknown reason the mammal serums didn't go further - which made no sense when the more foreign ones did. "We're in this together. For better, for worse. And Emelyn spoke with me last night - and she was right... we have to face facts. We're all going through this, and we're certainly not going to hold your appearance against you, Cassidy. You can't help it, and we'd be hypocrites if we did." Amaya Vaughan She flinched as Cassidy's voice cracked. Her mouth opened to offer to walk her back to her duplex but then again... she couldn't walk. Well, on her knees but still and Amaya couldn't carry her or anything. Her mouth clamped shut as she continued to remain silent and looking at her own feet. Why couldn't she have been the snake? Cass was deathly afraid of them but she wasn't and here she was able to keep her feet and everything.
"Greer did too?" Amaya's head shot up, her eyes wide as she finally broke her own silence. Oh my god... ohmygodohmygod. Cassidy Smith "...I hadn't seen Greer." Cassidy sighed, simply overwhelmed with it all. "But thank you, Ambrose. That means a lot." She grinned at all three of them. "I... was feeling better, the last few days. I really was. I..." She shook her head. "I'm going to head back to my room. My knees sort of hurt. This isn't going to work..." She really didn't like the idea of being bound to her room for the rest of her life. Or until she could--ugh--slither. "I'm sorry. I just... I thought I could deal with this right now. I don't think I can. I'll see you guys later." She popped another whole meatball in her mouth, and turned to make her way back to the village, on her knees. Stupid way to travel. Pyroth Ignatius The red haired man nodded to Ambrose, understanding all too well what was being said. "I know exactly what you mean Ambrose, though you phrase it far more eloquently than I could. That's the dillemma isn't it? Who is the invading army when the battlefield is your head?" It was also true that these new changes drove home the reality of what they were all facing.
All of them
He nodded his agreement mutely to Cassidy, everyone on the island was in it together, no one would judge, if only to avoid judgement themselves.
He didn't say anything to stop the other leaving, he knew the feeling, sometimes you just had to sort out your head. He gave Cass a final reassuring nod (or as reassuring as he could muster) The he watched her go, his expression unreadable. He hoped his balance wouldn't go too, that would be scary.
Getting to his feet, he picked up his towel, turning to Amaya and Ambrose.
"Actually, I think I might go request those items now, before they turn off room service for the night, see you both later, hopefully the same shape as I leave you." his tone was somewhat jovial, things were bad but he couldn't get bogged down.
"Later!" and with that he headed back up to the duplexes. Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose nodded solemnly to the two of them as they parted. "Best of luck to you. Both of you." He said seriously. "And I truly am sorry about what they've done to you in particular, Cassidy." He nodded. "Yes... Greer changed just the other day... it sounds like some of the rest of us may be soon to follow if the first changes were any indication. Let me know if there is anything I can do. I understand if you want some privacy, but don't become a hermit - we all need eachother." He gave her a genuine smile. Ambrose nodded to Pyroth. The atmosphere on the Island had certainly been taking a somber one the past few days... "Indeed. If you discover anything that could help us... don't hesitate to mention it." He waved to Pyroth. "Good luck reaching them - and you'll have to show me your drawings if you make any!" He smiled. Finally he turned to Amaya and patted her a few times on the shoulder. "Of course the same is always open to you - if you ever have anything you need to talk about..." He gave her a quirky smile. "Your 'big brother's' here." They needed something to lighten the mood after that.... "SO!" He put his hands on his hips. "Scales and fur aside. Back to your footwork, young lady" He said in a jovial tone, settling back into stance. He worked with her for about another 20 minutes drilling - calling her attention to his eyes when she dropped them to her feet, or correcting minor flaws in the width or breadth of her stance. He spoke lightly during the excercize, always encouraging -and once again, near the end, he kept the pace quicker, changing up the patterns. Finally, at the end, he patted her on the shoulder again. "really good work today, Amaya! I really can tell you've been improving. Before long, as long as you keep practicing, this stance will be like second nature to you and you'll be able to drop into it at a moment's notice." He smiled. "In fact, You've improved a lot since just today. Next time - I promise - you'll actually pick up the blade." He grinned. "But that's enough for today." And with that he gave her another encouraging clap on the back, gathered his equipment, and headed back to the village. Amaya Vaughan Amaya waved to Cassidy and Pyroth as they left, but otherwise stayed quiet. Ugh, it felt like she was going to be sick.
The footwork practice helped up her mood a little bit, but she was still feeling a bit frightened by the recent events. Giving a smile and a nod to Ambrose, she walked back to her duplex as well when they were finished.

Confession(Amaya meets Hargun on the cliffs and admits how scared she is)Amaya Vaughan Amaya let out a sigh, her form hunched over her bent knees as she held the silver pendent normally found around her neck in her palm. She had climbed a few feet up the cliffs and sat on what she thought was a sturdy enough rock before positioning herself so she could relax. Climbing seemed actually pretty easy, her new toes and longer fingers well for gripping tough surfaces.
But she hadn't come out here just to try her hand at climbing, her actual reason was to just... think. After seeing Cassidy she had been slapped in the face with an even harsher reality check. The woman was turning into a snake. Loosing her legs and growing a tail and scales. It just wasn't small patches anymore, it was... fictional, was what it was. Cass barely looked like herself anymore... would that happen to everyone? Including her? So far Amaya seemed to be the only other one turning into a reptile so... would she grow an even longer tail (she hadn't even been able to stomach looking at the stub) and more scales and would her nose vanish alltogether?
It was a scary thought. Not looking like you did when you were born. The features passed on by your parents melting away before your very eyes. If she didn't look like herself then... she didn't look like mom and dad. The raven hair she inherited from her mother might fall out or her eyes might change colour from the bright green she had gotten from her father.
Amaya's eyes narrowed as she looked at the picture of her parents and grandmother. This... this was bad... Hargun Aikason Hargun decided today to explore more of the island. She figured since exploring previously lead her to a new place on the island, that doing the same today would be exciting. Besides... what else was there to do? Apon venturing around enough, she came apon the cliffs, and whistled, staring up towards them. Woah.. what all does Moreau have on this island? she thought to herself and began to make her climb. She tripped awkwardly and dropped her sunglasses. "Oh crap!" she shouted, and attempted to get them with her toes. Hey... Im getting good at this! she thought, and smiled then continued to climb again. Her ears twitched as she got up a few feet and hesitated. Funny.. thought I heard someone.. or something..Amaya Vaughan Amaya blinked and looked up. Did she just hear someone's voice? She looked around the cliffs but couldn't see anyone. "Hello?" Her voice called out hesitantly as she looked around for the source of the voice. It could've just been her imagination... Hargun Aikason Hargun recognized Amaya's voice from pretty far down and shouted back. "Hey Amaya!" She climed up more until she was in sight, as not to confuse hr friend and pulled up on the rock and sat down next to hr, brushing off her arms and frontside. Smiling she adjusted her glasses. "So whats up... besides us?" Amaya Vaughan Amaya couldn't help but laugh half-heartedly at Hargun's bad joke. "Hey Hargun and... nothing really, just been thinking." Her clawed hand closed around the locket and close it before it quickly went back around her neck. "What about you?" Hargun Aikason "Ah." Harun eyed the locket and didnt bother to ask what she was thinking about. Lockets=personal, at least to most people she had met. "Well, exploring.. becomming a new fad to me lately." she picked up a tiny pebble with her foot and iddled wih it as she talked, just for prctice. "It seems a lot of people have been out and about 'just thinking.'" Amaya Vaughan "Yeah..." Amaya sighed, letting her form hunch over and her arms to drape on her legs once more as she looked down. "Well I..." She paused for a moment, wondering if she could really talk to Hargun seriously. For the most part both of them had never talked seriously and joked around. But... hell, she needed SOMEONE to talk to. "... I saw Cassidy, you know her right?" She left it at that for now, green eyes watching Hargun's toes manipulate the pebble instead of her face. Hargun Aikason Hargun nodded. "Hmm-hmm. Only for a little bit. It was back at the cafeteria we all talked wasnt it?" she dropped the pebble and mutterd a swear, then picked it up again. "I havent seen nor talked to her since then though." Amaya Vaughan "Yeah, well... I saw her the other day and she... got another injection." Her eyes still refused to look at Hargun's face, finding that looking at the rocks much more comforting right now. "She's loosing her legs and barely has a nose and she's covered in scales and..." Amaya would have kept on rambling but stopped herself and folded her hands together to keep them from shaking. "s**t, I'm scared." She openly admitted. Hargun Aikason Hargun looked very disturbed.. not disgusted but actualy afraid just of what Amaya was describing. "R...really she is?" she said, and had a sudden thought of herself loosing everything about herself but snapped out of it quickly. She honestly didnt know what else to say as Amaya revealed how she felt. She put an hand on Amaya's shoulder. "Hey man.. its.. its gonna be okay.." It was true though, Cass and Amaya were the only people she had met who were turning reptillian, and that meant a LOT of things changing. Amaya Vaughan Amaya could just nod and look up to give a shaky smile at Hargun before looking back down and letting out a breath that shook more then her hands were at the moment. Her mouth opened to say something more but her voice cracked and she shut it again.
For a good few moments she just sat there, looking down below to regain her voice without starting to cry. "I-... I'm pretty sure I'm not turning into a snake by the look of my feet and hands, but... a lizard isn't very close to human either." Her gloved hands wrung together as she spoke. "They've got a lot of different animal books in the entertainment room, but when I went to look at them I was too scared. As stupid as it sounds I REALLY don't wanna know what the hell is happening to me..."
Ugh, she was such an a**. Here she was whinning about her own problems when Hargun was loosing her ARMS and as far as she knew she got to keep all her limbs. Hargun Aikason Hargun tried to return a smile to her shaky friend. "Entertainment room? Never heard of- Oh nevermind. Well.. you know yer turning into a lizard.. yer afraid to know exactly what yer gonna be...not fun I suppose?" she asked Oh that was stupid. Of course it wasnt fun.. she was there shaking at her roots! She reached over and gave Amaya a hug, trying not to poke her with her clingy fingers. "Sorry Amaya. I really am. Hell, if it were possible, Id 'switch' animals with you if you wanted.." she said with a lame toothy grin. Amaya Vaughan Amaya laughed slightly and returned the hug. "It's alright. I know I really shouldn't whine. I mean, I've still got my legs and arms and your loosing your arms." She winced and frowned a little. Hargun Aikason Hargun laughed. "Ah.. yea.. I try to forget that, but its really not that bad. Even though Im loosing my favorite thing to do, Im improvising. It could be a new experience.. and heh.. thats what artists do so.." She tossed the pebble around a bit and finally chucked it off the cliff, then suddenly looked over, praying nobody was below. "I.. I hope that doesnt end up hitting someone.." she said, trying to lighten the mood again. Amaya Vaughan She looked over the edge and laughed. "I highly doubt it, normally no one comes out here that much. Or at least I don't think so." Amaya smiled and leaned back on the rock behind her, closing her eyes for a moment. The energy was starting to drain out of her as the sun set. Green eyes opened and looked to the sunset with a frown. "I do miss being out a night, though." Manuvering her way around, she got into a position to start to climb down. "I'm getting weak, I better start heading back... you coming or staying here for a bit?" She looked up at her batty friend, just now realizing that they were turning into two totally opposite things. Hargun was going to be nocturnal and here she could barely stand sunset. Hargun Aikason "Well, I hate to sound like a terd but I kinda want to stay. Sorry.. really. You can understand though, right?" she said, a sympathetic look. "I'm gonna sit and watch the sunset then maybe venture around a little more. Ive gotta blow off all this energy somehow." She stood up and rubbed the dirt off her pants and watched Amaya get ready to decend. Amaya Vaughan "Sure, no biggie." Amaya smiled and waved with her fingers before decending down the rocks she had climbed moments before. Once she was at the bottom she looked back up while she walked backwards, this time giving a more proper wave goodbye. "See ya Hargun!" And with that she turned around and vanished into the lush jungle foliage towards her duplex. Hargun Aikason Hargun waved in return and shouted down. "See ya too!" then watched her dissappear into the jungle. I just realized Im going to be out at this time a lot more often than I was during those few days my sleep-schedule was corrupted.. she thought, and sat down to watch the sun set. ((wrap then for us both? xD))

Amaya sighed as she closed the door of her duplex behind her. Dragging herself across her duplex she pretty much flung off her clothes and flopped into the shower. God, things were getting worse instead of getting better, like she had hoped. When she first came here she was kind of scared, but had found a sort of dysfunctional family within some of the people here, but then... reality just had to walk up to her and slap her in the face upon seeing Cassidy.
The hot water did little to wash the worry away, so she got out and into her pajamas before flopping on the bed and staring up at the ceiling. Millions of thoughts swirled in her head as she closed her eyes to try and force herself asleep. She wanted to go home. She wanted her family back. She wanted her life for the past 10 years to just be some nightmare she woke up from to find herself a small child again. Things were so less complicated back then...
Her brain gradually started to slow down, pulling her into blessed unconsciousness and into a world where she was young again. Amaya lived with her parents and played with her friends outside. Everything was perfect...

Foster Mother(Amaya talks to Greer on the cliffs about a lot of things)Greer Cassenwari Perched in a large tree over looking the cliffs, an aged green parakeet was watching the scene below him with intrest. It seemed a rather large, somewhat malformed example of his bretheren was trying to judge his chances at flying in his current state: he was crouching on the ground at the cliffs' edge, talons dug in firmly and feather-stripped hands gripping the edge. He peered over the side, breathing steadily and taking in the faraway view. The parakeet shook it's head. It was always sad when the big predators got mauled like that without being killed. He'd probably been a graceful, vicous beast before the front half of his wings had been taken from him. Now he attached himself to the ground, trying not to be afraid of the air. Hopefully he wouldn't try to fly. Old birds didn't fancy watching suicides. Focusing on not hyperventalating in fear at the thought of someday jumping off this very cliff, Greer was unaware of the parakeet's mistaken assessment of her, as well as anything else that might come along at that point. It was a very long way down. Amaya Vaughan Amaya sat lower on the cliffs, a comic in hand as her feet kicked back and forth below her. A few tiny pebbles fell from above onto her pages and she raised a brow, looking up while sheilding her eyes from the sun. There was someone up there...? Greer Cassenwari A small blur of motion attracting her attention, Greer's sharply focused eyes flicked from the blue on blue horizon to the girl sitting on a ledge below her. She blinked, brain freezing. The mental shift from trying to steel herself against her fears to being all social and nice stalled her speech center for a moment, requiring a random pre-written, rather dumb-sounding cue card to be read instead of a formulated sentence. "Amaya! What are you doing down there?" Amaya Vaughan Blinking, she tried to focus on the form above her but the sun kept her from seeing it clearly and only got a shadowed figure. The voice was familiar, though. "Greer?" Amaya rubbed her eyes and looked back down, realizing she wasn't going to be able to see her. "Nothin', reading and thinking... what're you doin' up there?" Greer Cassenwari "Contemplating flight." Clearly her brain had caught up with current events, since otherwise she probably would have said something to the effect of thinking about throwing herself off the cliff, which probably would have upset the little one. Greer frowned. Spending time with her hawk bit always made her brain a bit muzzy. "Want to come up and join me? I have news." Amaya Vaughan "Flight?" Amaya blinked, her eyes widdening as she looked back up at Greer in surprise. "... Alright." Greer had changed, haden't Ambrose said so? She hesitated for a moment, scared of what she might see. Letting out a sigh she placed her comic between her lips, clear of her sharp teeth, and climbed up to meet Greer rather easily. Greer Cassenwari Greer scooted back from the edge to give Amaya space once she reached the top, doing her best not to look too suprised at how easily the girl scaled the rockface. Wow. Yay for claws, apparently. Sitting carefully, she put her hands behind her back and held her arms at an angle that masked her wings. She'd practiced the gesture in the mirror. The beak and feet would be enough for her young friend's first look at her. Amaya Vaughan Upon seeing Greer she froze, not sure of how to react. Slowly she got into a comfortable position to sit beside her, taking the comic out of her mouth and letting it lay between her long, clawed fingers. Green eyes couldn't seem to look at her foster-mother, not wanting to stare or scream or cry but... it was hard not to. And she was scared.
Her mouth opened to say something but only a labored breath came out. A few more minutes passed before she finally muttered the only word that seemed to be able to pass her lips. "Well... poop." Greer Cassenwari Greer chuckled, raising a hand the ruffle Amaya's hair. "Aren't we eloquent today?" Amaya Vaughan Amaya laughed slightly and finally forced herself to look up at Greer. "Sorry just... scared is all." She looked back down at her lap and brought her JTHM comic over her mouth as she talked. "Cassidy changed too. It just... scared me a lot." Green eyes narrowed slightly in saddness. "'Cause it's gonna happen to everyone..." Greer Cassenwari Greer put an arm around the girl's shoulders, smiling warmly and hoping she wouldn't be too bothered by the wings that stretched down to her elbow. "That it is, but your change is still a little ways off now. No sense in worrying over things that haven't happened yet." She marveled at herself, amazed how easily she fell into mother-figure mode. The hawk must have decided Amaya was part of her pack. Thank goodness - feeling compelled to chase the girl out of 'her territory' would have killed her. Amaya Vaughan "Yeah... guess your right." She set her comic aside and fell into Greer, thankful for the comfort. "I've been trying not to think about it but no matter what I do it seems to come into my mind." Greer Cassenwari Greer rubbed the girl's back, enjoying the role of comforter. It seemed to be easier to deal with someone else's problems instead of her own these days. "What's been bothering you in particular?" Amaya Vaughan "I dunno. Just... I guess loosing the face I was born with and a piece of what mom and dad looked like with it." She looked up at Greer, now pretty unphased by her new apperance. Changes seemed to be getting easier to deal with. "I already miss looking at the stars and I don't know if being cold-blooded is going to get worse and... I'm rambling." Greer Cassenwari She smiled sadly, nodding. These worries she understood. "Considering the circumstances we're all in, I think you're entitled. You should have heard the stuff I said to Sean that first day after changing... geez. I have no idea why he was so nice and put up with me, but he did say some very wise things. Ramble all you want little one, but remember that changing on the outside doesn't have to mean changing on the inside. When my hands turn into wings I'll probably lose the ability to do most of the things I love to do, but I'll still be me." Greer tapped Amaya lightly on the nose. "As long as Amaya Vaughan looks out at the world from those emerald eyes, no amount of scales can take anything away you want to keep. And with the power of a good bonfire I bet you could see the stars again." Amaya Vaughan Amaya listened in silence and smiled once Greer was finished. "Thanks... that makes a lot of sense." She looked up at her and smiled. Greer Cassenwari "Thanks, that's why I'm plagarizing it." She winked at the girl and gave her shoulders a squeeze. "So, are you sufficently cheered up for me to yell at you for climbing up and down cliff faces without safety equipment?" Amaya Vaughan A laugh escaped her lips as she pushed away with a mock glare. "Hey, what about you?" Amaya flexed her claws and toes with a grin. "I've got built in kleats now." Greer Cassenwari "As do I," Greer wiggled her taloned toes, "and they're damned sharp and make me very glad most of my legs are armored now. But claws or no, cliff climbing is very dangerous. As a pseudo-parental figure it is my job to worry over your physical safety. Even if you are very good at it." She attempted to look serious and chastizing. She was too cheerful to pull it off. Amaya Vaughan Not knowing what to really say, Amaya settled to sticking her large, iguana-like tounge out of her mouth at her before hiding it once more. "Sorry, this is just a nice place to hang out and think. The rocks are nice 'n warm too." Greer Cassenwari Greer sighed, not knowing enough about how to be forceful to be able to win the arguement. "Just be careful, okay? No unnecesarry risks." She ruffled the girl's hair again, grinning. "Lovely tongue." Amaya Vaughan "Yes m'am." Amaya nodded and kicked her feet slightly, frowning at mention of her tongue. "I hate it. It's big 'n yucky and I can taste emotions." That was only the second time she admitted to someone about her new ability. Greer Cassenwari Greer cocked her head, trying to puzzle through Amaya's pronouncement. When no answers came to mind she gave up and asked her question. "What do you mean you can taste emotions?" Amaya Vaughan "... I dunno." Amaya shrugged and looked up at her. "I can't explain it." She flicked out her tounge, trying to taste Greer's emotions. Greer Cassenwari The entomologist's mind raced, trying to solve this odd little puzzle. She knew next to nothing about lizards, but if she had to hazard a guess based on insects... "It might have something to do with pheremones and the like. Or more persiration meaning fear. Hmmm. Have you done any research?" Amaya Vaughan She shook her head quickly. "I saw a book on lizards in the entertainment center but I was too scared to pick it up." Amaya looked down, ashamed. Greer Cassenwari Sliding a feathered hand under Amaya's chin, Greer gently lifted the girl's gaze up to hers. "That's okay - I imagine not everyone is comforted by research the way I am. I'd recommend taking a look at it, though. Knowing what to expect can be a lot nicer than drowing in a million what ifs." Amaya Vaughan Amaya looked up at Greer and then down again. "I... guess so..." She frowned and fidgetted with her clawed hands. Greer Cassenwari Greer smiled. "You don't have to if you don't want to, it's only a suggestion." Brushing hair out of Amaya's face, she put on her best listener look. "Why does learning about your animal worry you so much?" Amaya Vaughan "... I dunno." Amaya shrugged, looking down at her lap. "It should'nt as much as it does, but I can't seem to even look at the cover of the lizard book because it scares me that that's what I'mma be one day?" It was more of a question the an answer as she looked back up at Greer. Greer Cassenwari Greer sighed, closing her eyes for a moment. It was bad enough fearing the loss of your humainty: she couldn't imagine also worrying about the type of creature she was turning into. "It might be, or it could just be the understandable fear of not being human anymore. Goodness knows that little thought's been giving me some nightmares lately." Amaya Vaughan "Yeah..." Amaya sighed and kicked her feet more, grabbing her comic and looking at the cover. "I guess I should look into it then..." Greer Cassenwari Greer chuckled at the comic book the girl held. "You don't have to, really. The upside to finding out what exactly you're turning into is learning the really neat stuff that goes along with the icky. There always is some." Amaya Vaughan "Yeah, I suposse so. I guess tasting emotions is kinda cool... and climbing is easier." Amaya smiled slightly and looked up at Greer. "Do you... know exactly what your turning into now?" Greer Cassenwari She nodded. "Yup. I'm on my way to becoming a Harris' or Bay-Winged Hawk. The only really social bird of prey as far as I know - the females are dominant and they live and hunt in packs like wolves. A fair trade for all this meat consumption, I think." Amaya Vaughan "Packs?" Amaya blinked in surprise. "I didn't think any birds lived in packs..." Greer Cassenwari "I don't think any other predatory birds do - non-predatory avians have their flocks, but that's more like a school of fish than a pack. I think it's rather nice." Greer smiled, absently playing with Amaya's hair. That was decidedly Sean's fault. Amaya Vaughan "Huh." Amaya blinked and looked ahead at the treetops, kicking her feet slightly. She didn't seem to mind or notice that her hair was being played with, but either way it didn't bother her at all. "Well, I guess turning into a lizard can't be... THAT bad... right?" Green gaze looked up at Greer for reassurance. Greer Cassenwari "Certainly not!" Greer smiled, giving Amaya a quick hug. "You're not becoming anything that eats anyone else, right?" Amaya Vaughan "No, I don't think so." Amaya blinked and frowned as something occured to her. "But what about you and the others? We won't start... eating each other, will we?!" Her eyes went wide in panic. Greer Cassenwari Seeing the girl's panic, Greer gave her a longer hug, shaking her head. "No, of course not! We're not becoming pure animals, after all. We'll still be us, and we'll still have control over what we sink our teeth in to." She concentrated on being soothing and assuring Amaya of things she wasn't really sure of herself. Amaya Vaughan Amaya returned the hug, trying to bury her head into Greer's chest to make the thought go away. She wanted desperatly to beleive her but didn't know if she could... I mean, she had cravings so everyone else must have had them. Greer Cassenwari Greer rested her chin lightly on Amaya's head, making soft soothing noises. "We'll all still be partially human, right? So not only will the our people bits reign us in from eating anyone else, other's people bits will make our animal bits not want to eat them. Few animals are true maneaters." Amaya Vaughan "Yeah..." Amaya nodded, mostly to reassure herself. "Okay. Your right." She sniffed back tears that had wanted to push through, but hadn't been able to. Greer Cassenwari Greer smiled into Amaya's hair. "This will all work out, I promise." Making that little vow stay true was going to take a lot of work. Amaya Vaughan Amaya nodded again and sat up, grabbing her comic and tucking it in the back of her belt like she had seen Julian do. "Well, I need to do. Gotta eat and then get some sleep." The sun was already starting to set, so she would probably have to take her meal to her room again. Greer Cassenwari Greer nodded and stood, offering a hand to help her companion up. "Sounds like a plan. Mind if I walk you back?" Amaya Vaughan Amaya took the offered hand and stood up. "Sure!" She grinned and started to climb down, her clawed fingers and toes gripping on the rocks as she scaled down backwards. Greer Cassenwari Greer frowned, watching her descend. "I meant walk back on the land route!" she shouted, having no intention of going down the cliff face. "Goof! I'll see you back at the village." Shaking her head, the hawk woman turned and trotted home through the woods. She wasn't read to tempt he luck on the heights quite yet. Amaya Vaughan Amaya laughed as she descended, landing on the ground once more with a short leap once she was close to the bottom before getting onto the trail in the jungle. "Sorry! It's faster that way and I love climbing." Ther renewed love for climbing didn't see too odd to her, she had loved to climb trees as a child.

Checking Up On Colche(Amaya goes to check up on Colche and comforts her after a bad dream)Amaya Vaughan Amaya woke up the next morning to feel a little bit better about what was actually happening on the island, though she still wasn't in her usual happy state of mind. After eating some eggs for breakfast (which was one of the few things besides salads she could find herself to eat), she started to head back to her duplex but stopped herself.
She had been alone in her room pondering and sulking long enough. Today she would do something with... someone... or something. Nodding to herself in confirmation she turned and headed back downstairs towards Colche's duplex. Amaya hadn't seen the girl around lately and last time she had a bunny or something... hopefully someone had taught her how to take care of it or her feline instincts hadn't kicked in and made her want to eat it yet.
Wincing at the thought, she gave a light knock on Colche's door once she got to it. "Colche~? You in there? It's Amaya." Colche Colche awoke witha start. Had she heard a knock or was it just her dream? Her dreams were sordid of late. her loneliness was getting to her to say the least, she had never felt lonely before, finding solitude better than what company braught. But the people on this island were always so, so nice, they helped her, see the light, so to speak so not seeing anyone had been a blow to her.
She licks her lips, casting away the dry crispy feeling that lay pon her lips, and then the nock sounded again and she pulled herself from her sleepy daze to look at the door, willing it to open "Awen" she mumbled at first sitting on her bed and brushing sleep from those huge deep blue doe eyes "Awen!" he voise sounded more lively now, and it was certainly an invitation. as she slipped from her sheets though,s he found it rather chilly, perhaps it was only her imagination but she pulled her blanket around ehr almost as if it were a sign of safety for herself. She snuggled happily in the blue blankie and wauited for awen to come. The shiver, seh rememeberd was left over from her dream and the cool wall that always haunted her. Amaya Vaughan Hearing Colche's voice inside, she invited herself in. The girl seemed to always have her door unlocked and absently she wondered if she knew how to open the door herself... well, she had gotten outside before so she must know somehow. Shaking those thoughts out of her mind she peeked her head in and waved her long, clawed fingers.
"Not Awen, Amaya! Good afternoon Colche." She gave a genuine smile and walked over to stand by the side of the bed, hopeing that for once Colche was dressed underneath the covers... though then again, she probably wasn't. Ugh. Thank god she was a girl.
"Has Colche been having a good time?" Amaya tried to word her sentences simply so she could understand them, though it did sound a bit funny to her own ears. Colche Colche smiled happily, though she looked a little ashamed that she had gotten the wrong person. She wasn't very good at that sort of thing. She did indeed know how to open the door but answerign and opening it to go out were two differnt things.
She cleared her throat "Colche kay" she states biting her tongue and looking overly thoughtful, her brow wrinkles a bit "Colche lone" a little pout comes to her lips but she quickly pushes this away, Aubrey was busy Amaya probably was too, everyone was too busy for her just lately "bunny good, food lots" she points to the corner of the room wheer the little rabbit lay napping not the remotest bit destrubed by an entrantin to Colche's atmosphere.
Her eyes glanced about then and perhaps for a moment she was searching for what she should say or do next. She wished she could describe her dream, but the words weren't there for her to ask the questions that buzzed in her mind. but aubrey promised her more words, she just had to wait. Amaya Vaughan "Lone? ... Oh, alone?" Amaya frowned, wishing she had checked up on the girl sooner. "I'm sorry Colche, I should came sooner." She forced and smiled then blinked and looked over to the corner at the bunny. Well... it was breathing and everything, that was good. "Food? Y'mean your feeding the bunny good?" It certainly seemed healthy. Her smile broadened. Colche wasn't stupid or dumb at all, just... unexperianced.
Looking around her room a little more, green eyes rested back on Colche. "Are you hungry at all? Or want to go to the beach?" Poor girl was probably lonely and bored out of her mind. Ugh, she should have come sooner. Colche Colche went back in to think mode again. Listening to people she learned words it was just so hard t put it in to context "Colche food full" her brow wrinkled again and she bit her tongue trying to search for what she would say next "Colche cold, no beach, cold" She shiverd again as if trying to emhpasize that she was chilly even thiough the blanket she had scrunched around ehr was perfectly thick and extremely comfortable, she still felt cold. Maybe she was still dreaming, or maybe the island was thwe dreaj and she really was still in the cold and the dark. The hairs on her neck stood on end and would have bristled had she gained the thick neck fur of the cheetah by this time, but she hadn't so she simply shiverd again.
Taking a deeop, slightly depressed sounding sigh she looked at Amaya and touched her head "bad" she stated tapping her head again, hoping maybe she could tell amaya about her dreams if only she could find the words to say it. Amaya Vaughan Well, she was full which was good. It seemed the girl knew how to make her way to the cafeteria by herself. "Cold? Well, that's not good." Amaya frowned and looked to the closet. Maybe there were some blankets in there...
But before she could walk over her attention zipped back to Colche. Bad...? Bad... Her brow furrowed and she thought for a moment. What could be bad involving her h-OH! A nightmare, maybe? She frowned and sat down on the edge of the bed, looking at Colche while pointing at her own head. "Bad dream? Scary nightmare?" Colche "Duh..ream" Colche spelt the word out, tilting her head softly she smiled weakly before testing the other new word"nu..ayet..mur" she paused and bit her tongue "sleep dreams?" she looked at amaya curioyusly her big blue eyes filled wtith so many questions, wheer dreams the things you had when you slept? Maybe amaya would understand. She bit her tongue again "dream cold" her brow furrowed unhappily and she watched Amaya hoping for an answer, was it correct what she was saying? she hoped so she was so tired of being confused. Amaya Vaughan Amaya nodded slowly and smiled. "When you sleep you dream." Her sentences were slow and drawn out so Colche could understand them. Standing up, she walked over to the closet and pulled out and extra blanket before bringing it over to Colche. Colche Colche smiled weakly, she looked extremely thoughtful, though it wasn't her usual happy sort of thinkyful. She licks ehr lips nervously "bad dreams Amaya" her brow wrinkles unhappily and she gladdly accepts the extra blanket holding it around ehr slight form as tightly as possible. She fidgets for a few moments searching for the words she needed to say "want bad dreams..go"she looked at Amaya with a confused harrassd look. The dreams were effecting her and she couldn't define reality and her dreams sometimes. Right now her shivers were broaght on because she could feel the cold stone of the wall she used to lay again, feel the damp seepingin to her skin. It was frightening, she wanted to know she was here, truely not back against the cold wall in the dark. Amaya Vaughan Amaya frowned and sat down on the bed once more, green eyes locked on Colche. "Bad dreams can't go. They come whenever they want while your asleep." She tried to describe it, but couldn't think of anything beyond that. Even though the poor girl had two comforters wrapped around her she was still freezing.
Getting up once more she checked the thermostat but it was at a pretty normal tempature, so that couldn't be it... maybe her dream had been cold or something? It was certainly cold enough for Amaya in the room. God, she hated being cold-blooded... Colche Colche frowned and she shook her head unhappily. She looked at Amaya sadly, how could she describe what she was going through? She didn't have the words. She pulled the blankets closer to her and she sniffled "dream bad, dream cold" big crocodile tears rolled down ehr cheeks as she sat there with the blankets pulled around her tightly "dreams go, no want." She pouts looking at amaya the big blue dropletts spilling down ehr cheeks wetting the blue material. "No want" Amaya Vaughan Amaya frowned deeply and she sat on the bed next to her, pulling her into a gentle embrace while petting her hair and making comforting 'shh' noises. Even though Colche was probably older then her, she was more and a little sister she needed to comfort. "It's okay, Colche. Dreams and nightmares can never become real..." Though who knew what the poor girl really went through and whatever she dreamt about was probably how her life uesed to be. "Everything bad is gone now, okay?" That was a lie, but taking into consideration what Colche had gone through beforehand, this place might've been paradise. Colche "All gone?" she whispered in a squeek of a voice clinging to the green eyed femme "all gone, promise?" she looked up at Amaya those huge, doe blue eyes filled with fears of what might be, what had been, what could be. Her dreams frightend her and coming back to this reality where every day didn't start with pain or punishment, or 'bad men' made her even more frightful that what she now loved was simply the real dream. She bit her tongue those watery, glassy eyes searching Amaya for a promise that it wouldn't come back, that ehr dreams wouldn't be reality as they had before. That the island was here, that she was here, that she could see the beach and the stars and the sun and moon and smell the fresh air and eat when ever and what ever she wanted. Amaya Vaughan Amaya nodded firmly, still petting Colche and comforting her. "I promise." She looked into her large blue eyes sternly so she could see that she meant it. "The bad is gone, I promise." Colche Colche puurred softly, happy to be comforted, to be held, to know she wasgoing to be looked after. She felt so frightend of being alone just lately, it was becoming sucha regular thing. She wished, deeply wished she could tell somone exactly what it was like, what she went through about the cold and the dark, why she feard the light so. She finally wiped her tears upon Amayas shirt and sniffled and simply rested in silence, ehr mind had drawn a blank though finding out that she was safe, even from Amaya felt good and dribbled a little confidence in to her. Amaya Vaughan The younger girl comforted her the best she could, allowing the silence between them grow long and drawn out. Only her small 'shhing' sounds broke the silence between them.
After awhile Amaya looked down at Colche to see if she was still awake. "Do you need anything, Colche? Food, bath, or sleep?" She kind of hoped the girl would go back to sleep to get more rest and dream of better things then her past... Colche Colche barely heard the wordsmumbled to her by Amaya, she was already half way to dreamland, ehr eyes swiftly drifting sut, her lashes touching her cheeks. She was so tired. Just let the dreams stay away, let the dreams stay away. She begged herself as slowly but surely she drifted off in to a light, slightly twitchy sleep, she would sleep for now, til she was woken again, to find herself alone again. It was scary being alone. She didn't like it but everyone else, everyone else had things to do, they were too busy for her. Amaya Vaughan Amaya smiled as she saw that Colche was already drifting into sleep. Gently she set the girl down on her bed and lifted her legs up so she could grab the comforter and put it over her.
She really wished she could stay just so Colche didn't have to wake up alone again but... she really needed to get out for some food and stuff. Frowning, she pushed some of the raven locks from Colche's view. "G'night Colche, sweet dreams..." Giving the girl a reassuring pet, she made her way out of her duplex and slowly shut the door behind her.

Halloweenie!(Amaya goes to the Halloween party and sees Hargun at 50%)Awen Zyn Awen stepped into the tent area, taking her shoes off so she wouldn't get the tarp dirty with the dirt or grime from her shoes. She looked aroudn at the decorations and smiled. Moreau certainly did a wonderful job. She saw that no one else seemed to be there. Good enough for now, she'd jsut hang out until others got there. After all other people had costume to prepare. Awen moved over to the snack table and grinned picking at some things. Sure she didn't exactly like filling up on this stuff, but some of it looekd just too creepy to pass up.
With a small plate she moved over to some chairs facing the village and she smiled. She'd had a good view whenever anyone else showed up. For now she enjoyed the spooky atmosphere alone. Julian Vorpalle Julian smiled nervously as he came ambling into the tent...a rather large top hat casting a shadow over his green eyes. An oversized green jacket hung around his thin form, a white dress shirt beneath - and a perky little bowtie around his neck.
His pants were checkered and rather too big - they almost totally covered his black dress shoes. But he didn't mind so much...in fact, he looked rather pleased with his outfit.
He tucked a stray strand of his slicked-back hair behind his ear, looking around.
The Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat all rolled into one.
How puzzling. Amaya Vaughan "HAPPY FECKIN' HALLOWEEN!" Amaya screeched as she entered the mostly empty tent. She was dressed as Alice from Resident Evil 2 and had even went far enough to dye her hair a startling red for the occasion. Many different types of plastic guns were hanging about her tiny frame, a pair of pistols in each hand as she flung her arms in the air and pulled the triggers...
... and water squirted out. Gotta love water guns! Most of the ammo and larger weaponry were for show, the two grey pistols being the only ones filled with clear water from the tap.
Her outfit was also void of any shoes, since she preffered to walk bare foot ever since her change. Awen Zyn Awen looked up at the two who entered the tent and grinned. "Happy Halloween Amaya!" She waved from the cluster of chairs. "Excellent costume Julian!" She possitively beamed. At first glance it didn't seem Awen had a costume. Indeed she was just in her plain clothes. She held up the plate she had. "Try the jelloy stuff it's delicious!" Julian Vorpalle Julian smiled timidly, tipping his hat.
"Thanks, Miss Awen." He grinned at Amaya, laughing at her ammunition. "...And YOU! That's...really funny."
He picked up a bloody mary from the table, having no idea what it actually was. He THOUGHT it was punch.
Not sipping from it yet, he put a few snacks on a plate. Lauren Granger Lauren walks into the halloween party fully costumed as... Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz?! Well, she kind of looked like her, only with a twist. Lauren had painted her face pale as could be, dark circles under her eyes. The costume was ripped and torn and seemed more gothic lollita than anything. Her red slippers were sparkly red boots that came up to Lauren's things, very long boots considering how tall she is. Undead gothic lollita dorothy from the wizard of ozz perhaps? She even had the brown pigtail wig to top the costume off. She smiled nervously at everyone, "Hey Jul, Awen.... Amaya." Lauren kind of hoped Amaya wouldn't squirt her serious makeup off. Hungry.... Lauren headed straight to the snack table and loaded up her plate. Amaya Vaughan "Hullo and thank you!" Amaya bowed with a grin before approaching the two. This was the first time she had seen Julian since the entire cafeteria incident weeks, maybe a month ago. He seemed to be doing... very well, actually. "You two doin' well, I take it?" She smiled and looked from Awen to Julian and back again. "Lack of a costume, Awen? And your..." A clawed finger pointed at Julian as she thought. "The Mad Hatter?"
Upon spotting Lauren she fang a sharp-toothed grin instead of the normaly cold shoulder. "Hi Lauren!" She seriously had no idea who she was supossed to be... wait, sparkly boots? Dorothy? Funky lookin' Dorothy... Awen Zyn She giggled and waved at Lauren too. The party was starting to get people filtering in. She looked passed the lot towards town and birefly wondered in Jamal would really come or not.... hearing Amaya comment on her lack of costume Awen shook her head.
"Not at all not at all!" She puufed herself up a little bit. "I am in the costume of something that is increasingly rare on the island." She spread her arms out as though Amaya had missed something obvious. "I am a normal human being!"
She giggled a little bit and flooped her arms back down. "Kinda lame... but I only heard of the party like..yesterday, what else was I going to do?" Julian Vorpalle Julian's heart was starting to pound. A crowd was coming around. he...didn't...like...crowds.
He took a sip of his punch, nearly spitting it back out. It wasn't BAD, but...it didn't taste like punch.
...Oh, well.
Another sip. It wasn't so bad.
He sat down in a chair, watching the others with rather wide green eyes. Sabin Duvert With the whipping noise of a cape being tossed about in the night air, another top-hatted figure entered the scene. A tallish man with long (brushed!) white hair worn loose, pointed ears, claws and fangs wearing a rather authentic-looking Victorian suit - complete with cloak. He looks around at the small grouping of people, flashes a toothy grin, and heads towards the concession table, picking up a goblet of the same red liquid that Julian mistook for punch, and a meatball on a toothpick before turning back to the small crowd of people. "Good Evening~!" He grinned with an over-exaggerated "Vampire" accent and a laugh. Hargun Aikason Hargun made her mad dash towards the tent area where she heard the voices of the others. She couldnt tell if everything was just so blurry from her vision decreasement or her crying, but she kept clear of the area and clenched her maid's dress and accessories wrapped in arms. Sniffeling, she found a nice unoccupied area of trees and threw her dress on. I.. I don't want to cause a fuss.. I.. I just need someones help. Dont be a spastimistic mental case.. she thought to herself, and took a deep and shaky breath and slowly crept to the tents, squinting her puffy eyes all the way. She listened carefully for anyone she recognized, hopefully to snag them away from the group for a moment to talk. She heard two people she recognized, Amaya and Awen, and tried to hunt for them like some blind person looking for their dropped contacts, only her hearing helping out the most now, too afraid to stare into a bright light that may turn up. Something told her she was walking right into the tent area where the whole group was.. ((her costume heart )) http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y269/Toxtrazik/HARGUNcostume.png Lauren Granger Lauren smiled widely at all the people around her. What would normally make her nervous and introverted now caused her to be hyper and chipper. All was good for her tonight. "OOh, Alice... nice costume!" She said to Amaya. Lauren turned and saw Awen, "And human, a rare speciman indeed!!" Lauren lifted up Awen's arm pretending to study in awww as she popped a piece of cheese into her mouth. She waved at the unusual man she knew had worked as a higher up position in the labs yet she has not ever been formally introduced. Wait a minute... were those ears real? Hargun entered and seemed upset. Lauren quickly went her direction. "What's the matter Hargun?" She was totally oblivious that her change would cause her to be upset. "If you are upset about your costume... I think it's dead sexy!" She said in a teasing manner. Lauren sipped the drink Julian was drinking.... why did it taste so bad? Was that her transformation? Amaya Vaughan Eck, she really didn't need to be reminded she wasn't human anymore. But instead of getting upset about it like she normally would have, Amaya merely stuck her long, iguana tongue out at her in a playful sneer. "True, though if you really wanted you might be able to wear this costume of mine. I made them buy this for me, but I have another back in my room that I'm saving for later in the night." A wicked grin played her scaley features and she clicked her pistols together.
The silence coming from Julian worried her immensly and she turned to look at him, concern filling her eyes. "Y'okay Julian?" She had sort of unconsciously become very protective and concerned for the man, the pitty and worry having built up to gigantic proportions since the cafeteria. All she wanted for him right now was to be comfortable and happy and have a good time. That was her job: make sure everyone on the island had fun and didn't get too upset.
"HOLYGODCRAP!" Amaya jumped out of her skin as the complete stranger entered the party. Her eyes went incredibly wide and she leapt behind Awen for false protection, staring at the strange man who had just entered.
"Thanks..." She laughed nervously at Lauren, still somewhat creeped out over the strange man. Catching something out of the corner of her eye she double-taked and then stared, squinting. What was that...? The ears were friggin' huge and there was bright orange h-oh s**t HARGUN! Before anyone could stop her she bolted over. "Hargun! Oh my god, are you alright?!" So much for trying to keep a happy disposition. Upon hearing Thorn she blinked and raised a brow up at her with an 'are you an idiot?' look. Sabin Duvert Sabin looked up as the young subject... Hargun was her name? That was right - stuck out in his mind due to its novelty entered the scene looking disoriented. He hid his grin behind his mug. The changes were so fascinating! Especially in person! He eyed her more developed wings, fur, and yes! The horns! His combination serum was coming to fruit in another subject. Keeping these to himself, he stepped forward to mingle, wondering how long he might be able to pass off as "one of them" before his cover as a technician was blown. "So how is everyone doing?" He looked around at the subjects. "Lots of people around I haven't actually met." He gave an innoculous smile behind the fangs, the "transylvanian" accent gone for a much smoother French one. Awen Zyn "Woah hey!" Awen had just been thrown around a bit with Amaya jumping behind her then bolting before her. She was pulled to her feet in the scuffle and wobbled a little bit, just with Awen's luck though.... tripping over the tarp flooring and falling right into the mysterious "transylvanian/frenchie" person guy.
But since she was so ratehr small she just bounced back and fell to the floor before him. Looknig up she gave a sort of sheepish grin. "Sorry...." She chuckled a little bit "Clumbsy...." She got up slowly and brushed herself off. "Um.... Awen Zyn." She held out her hand to him with a small smile. "Nice to meet you." Hargun Aikason Hargun turned her head to Amaya who spotted her, and figured now she was no longer totally hidden. But luckily it was nearly her best friend and not some lab assistant to poke at her. Woah.. why was she thinking this? "No.. -sniffle- Lauren its.. its not that." she replied and tried to stand up a little more taller and spread her arms out, shakily to show what had happened. She began to whimper a bit, but tried so hard not to go a bawling. "I dunno Amaya.. I swear.. I just went to take a nap before heading out here and wake up to this.. the itching.. the pain.. the horns?" she said and looked upwards a bit. Lowering her voice a bit, to sound less dramatic, although she was sure she was making a big enough scene already, she breathed in deeply. "Do.. do you think its like.. another.. change?" she asked. Sabin Duvert The strange white-haired man seemed to smile a bit wider as Amaya ducked for cover behind her friend. He shook his head and chuckled again after whetting his lips with his tongue. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you, miss." He spoke to her, although the light danced in his red eyes, and it's hard to tell if he's being completely honest about that. He nodded to Awen who introduced herself to him personally and took her hand in a firm grip. "Sabin. It's nice to meet you, Awen." He spoke, the French accent maintaining, and seeming much more natural than the introductory "Transylvanian" one." His eyes darted again to Hargun as she stretched out her wings to show Amaya, but he stayed by Awen. Lauren Granger Lauren finally got a clue to what was upsetting Hargun. "Oh...." She said her voice drifting off in feign understanding. Thorn would DIE to be at 50% by now, it wasn't fair the doc was being wish washy about injecting Thorn cause he liked her so much. "Well, it makes for a neat costume" She gave a nervous smile. Lauren never knew what to say in situations like these. "And maybe you are that much closer to flying! That would be sweet. Also I can eat bugs with you if that would make you feel better?" Stay on the up and up and maybe Hargun would see how cool things were. She noticed the horns. What kind of bats had horns? Lauren was completely puzzeled by this. Julian Vorpalle Julian had looked up at Amaya with a feeble smile, sipping from the weird 'punch.' He kinda liked it.
"...I'm okay." Softly, and with a little smile.
But as the newly-changed Hargun came stumbling in, he was startled - taking a rather large gulp of the drink.
He had NO IDEA what to do or say. All the hub-bub in here was a lot to handle - and he didn't do well with crowds....
He finished the punch and oddly, felt...calmer. He got another one. Awen Zyn Awen's smiled weakened a little bit under the man's firm grip. Something about him made her skin just crawl. but his accent was neat, she loved all sorts of accents. She glanced over to were Sabin had set his gae, Hargun. Awen didn't know what to do over there and was letting Amaya handle it. She just felt so awkward handling these situations. She didn;t know what to tell Lauren and he was only partly changed when she showed up on Awen's doorstep.
"Kind of scarey.... isn't it?" She said softly to Sabin. "I mean... I haven't even started changing.... And...well...." She gave a small shudder. "It's worrying sometimes...."
She was shaking a little bit. Seeing people with small features was one thing. Hargun.... was completely different. What could she do to help....Awendidn't know at all what it was like.... Amaya Vaughan "It's alright, Hargun." Amaya frowned and gave her friend a small, reassuring hug. "Horns?" Blinking, she looked up and her frown deepened. First Cassidy's feathers and now Hargun had horns? What the hell was going on? "Yeah... it looks like you changed again. And Cassidy is growing scales AND feathers so... I dunno, I guess they're doing something to the stuff they're injecting us with..." Ugh, what would she be growing that didn't go with her 'animal' next time she changed? The mere thought made her shiver.
"But yeah!" She forced a smile and played off of Lauren's 'happy thoughts'. "Maybe you'll be able to fly and stuff!" You could tell it was mostly forced. Right now she could seriously think of nothing positive to say herself... Sabin Duvert There was definately something unplacably creepy about Sabin. He saw her glance to Hargun as well and nodded. "A lot of people have been quite nervous... and rightfully so." he sympathized(?). He gave her a quick look-over and quirked his eyebrow. "So.... pardon me for asking, but what are you supposed to be? I mean, there's the blue hair... but other than that you're dressed pretty normally." Hargun Aikason Hargun just stood quivering in her spot but her crying had seemed to stop. She nodded to Amaya. "I dunno whats going on with what theyre putting in our bodies.. but these horns.. are.. are beyond abnormal.." she said, the ending kind of trailing off as she looked to the ground. As much as it would have cheered her up, tonight the whole positive-things of becoming a bat weren't really shining in her face. Maybe the trama or the pain was causing it.. maybe it was her dream. But something just didnt quite feel the same inside and it cause her to feel a bit sick. "Do.. do you think it would trouble you much to get me a glass of water?" she asked Amaya, and a pitiful laugh escaped her mouth. "And.. I.. I might need a straw.." Awen Zyn "I'm the oddest thing of the island." She giggled softly to Sabin. "I'm a normal human being." She blushed knowing, for the fiftieth time she said it , that it was compeltely lame. "I've alwasy had this hair...well... sicne I started dyingit. That really has nothing to do with my costume though."
She glanced nervously back over to Hargun. Amaya has it under control... it's okay. You can't do anything anyway. You don't even know what it feels like to change the first time. She smiled a little up to Sabin. "So....do you know what you are yet....?...not the costume I mean.... but really.. going to be? Lauren Granger Lauren shrugged at Hargun, "Yeah, they are kind of weird. But I seem to remember some additional feature injections being mentioned, had no clue they were in use though." She had been seeing the Doc less and less lately now that more people were comming onto the island. "I'm sorry it happened before the party, that does kind of suck." Lauren couldn't imagine what she would feel like if any changes happened on her birthday, it would be like one giant present! Alright, it was obvious she couldn't relate. "Seems like you need some time with your best friend? Feel better alright?" She hugged Hargun, her musk gland slightly going off to mark the bat. "I'm gonna go get more food, I'm starving." Lauren rushed over to the food table again loading up but now with more meat. Amaya Vaughan "Sure, no problem." Amaya nodded and quickly made her way over the the snack table, paying the others no mind. Right now Hargun really needed her. After getting a glass of water and putting a straw in it she made her way back over it and held it up so her friend could drink from it. By the looks of her hands she probably wouldn't be able to hold anything now.
"See ya Lauren." She gave a slight wave as the girl left. Julian Vorpalle Julian was feeling pretty good by now considering the crowd - he had finished his second drink.
He ate a meatball, watching the festivities with a rather...odd...grin.
Hey.
There was a karaoke machine.
He turned it over in his mind.
Julian had always wanted to try that...and tonight, he was feeling brave. Sabin Duvert Sabin gave a full-out laugh at Awen's comment. "True! True! And clever. I like it." He gave a small applause to emphasize it. "And it looks good - the hair I mean." Sabin searched his mind trying to remember what this woman was becoming. She was a newcomer, and admittedly he hadn't had much time to look at their files yet. It would come to him. "Me?" The thought struck him as highly amusing, and he laughed again good-naturedly. "Who's to say." He gestured to himself. "What would you peg me for?" His eyes twinkled in amusement. Hargun Aikason Hargun waved at Lauren as she left then as Amaya returned, took a long sip of water, then a deep breath. "Sorry.. I feel like some useless crippled right now.." she said and tried to scratch her her face iwht her non-webbed finger, which used to be a thumb. She turned around in an awkward circle and made a few, loud whispering noises. "Ah!" she said, and found a chair to sit down in and sat, hanging her head down. It was far too bright. "God.. Amaya, Im so confused now.. I just.. feel so differet. I cant get over it. " she murmered, then her ears twitched a bit. "By the way.. who in the world is that over there talking with Awen..? He doesnt even sound fairly familiar.." Awen Zyn She blushed a little bit at both the compliments of her 'costume' and of her hair. Besides Colche no one really complimented her hair on the island yet. Sabin....didn't seem to be so bad. It must have just been that costume that was throwing her senses off. He really seemed nice after all.
She studied him for a moment thinking. What would this man be? His grin reminded her of soemthing but what she couldn't peg right away. Hmm.... My what big ears you have... all the better to hear you with.... and my what big teeth you have..... He did kind of have a wolfish grin.... hm. "I don't know really... something strikes me as 'wolf' but you just don't fit that exactly..... Maybe a tazmanian devil, oh but the ears don't fit right... hm..... some sort of predator anyway. Actually I'm not sure I remember what Taz. Devil's eat but honestly I rmemeber hearing they're pretty vicious when given the chance...." She shrugged caught herself right away on that one. "Not as to say I think you're mena or anything! Sorry..." Lauren Granger Lauren carried a plate piled up in meatballs, miniature hot dogs, and something she had been meaning to try, chocolate covered ants. She popped one in her mouth and perked up a bit, they were awesome! Hmmm... she thought of how much easier life would have been if she could eat those god damn cockroaches in the past. No more sneaking food out of dumpsters and convieniant stores, the food would always come to you. But then again, her hang ups would NOT get her to eating cockroaches for quite some time. Too much bad association there. She wandered over towards Awen and Sabin, her glass full of the weird tasting liqued. She was starting to like the taste. "HEY!!!" she greeted Awen again with her mouth full. "Left Hargun and Amaya alone... I'm not much help in those kind of things. Especially since she looks so god damn cute as a bat!" She couldn't hide her enthusiasm. "Hey, who are you?" She asked towards Sabin acknowledging his existance. Amaya Vaughan "It's alright, don't worry." Amaya followed her friend over and set the water down on the chair beside her, choosing to stand in front of her and try to block some of the light and keep others that came in from seeing her just in case.
Her frown deepened and she looked at her feet. For once she couldn't find any comforting words. Luckily she had yet to get that far in her... transformation to know what loosing your humaity felt like. Blinking, she turned to look over at Sabin and shook her head. "I seriously have no idea. He just... popped up shortly after I got here." She flicked her tounge out in his direction to try and taste what he was feeling. Sadly, she was a little far off, so only picked up a few things which... made her brow furrow. "I... don't think he's a subject... And if he is he seems a little too happy about all of this." Sabin Duvert Sabin smiled at the compliments (in his opinion). "No offense taken! None at all. And I'll let Ambrose keep the honor of being the only wolf on the island so far." The image of himself as a tasmanian devil was certainly an amusing one. "I think their ears are round, however." He mused. "Well, I suppose time shall tell, yes? Frankly, I'm rather fond of the predatory animals, so no worries." He glanced quickly over to Hargun as he was mentioned, but then back to Awen, not about to obviously eavesdrop. You could learn much more interesting things that way. "So what about yourself? Any guesses? Or... hopes?" He looked to Lauren as she approached, and gave her a small bow. "Greetings! Come, join us and our conversation!" he welcomed. "I'm Sabin. It's nice to meet you....." He trailed off, letting her introduce herself. Awen Zyn She smiled and nodded, at the comment on the tazmanian ears, she had thought something like that. Though she had no I dea who Ambrose was she was surprised at there already being a wolf.
Awen was shifted her weight thinking about what to tel Sabin when Lauren arrived and she grinned a bit. "Hi Lauren! Sabin-Lauren, Lauren-Sabin, yay we're all aquainted!"
She shook her head a bit. "And I know Lauren I can't help that sort of thing at all yet...."
Looknig back to Sabin she shook her head. "I don't want to be a fish..." She said softly. "But someone got me to thinking that's what Moreau has in store for me. When he came he said he would cure my hydrophobia.... and ...someone suggested it was because he was turning me into a fish.... but i totally don;t want that. Chipmunk or... or Lion or something, that would be cool. A sugar glider even better! But ...not a fish...or a bug.... yeah...." Julian Vorpalle Julian walked up to the karaoke machine, looking through the tracks...before finding one he liked.
He grinned.
And put it in the player, picking up the microphone.
"...Testing...one, two, three...testing...is this thing working all right?"
JULIAN. WITH A MICROPHONE.
Oh, boy.
Lauren Granger Lauren raised an eyebrow at Sabin, he seemed a little... off, even to her. Non-the-less he was happy and having a good time, that's what she wanted to be around. Not that Hargun could help it but her being upset was... upsetting. "Lauren." She bluntly filled in his sentence. "I think I may have briefly seen ya around... not sure." Sabin was confusing, highly confusing to Lauren. She couldn't pin point where she saw him or if she did at all. Was she imagining things? Mongooses don't hallucinate do they? That would be freaky and Lauren certainly hoped not. She popped another chocolate covered ant into her mouth giving a cheesy chocolate covered grin. Hargun Aikason Hargun frowned to Amaya's comment. "He did sound a bit happy.." she muttered and took a sip of her drink. "ugh.. I was hoping Id have a blast at this party but.. well.. plans changed. At least I still fit my costume I guess." Her own attempts to cheer herself up were lame, but seemed to work. Self reassurance was good. After Julian spoke into the mic, she couldnt help but laugh. "Oh my word.. is he seriously about to sing?" she asked and took another drink. Sabin Duvert "Hydrophobic?" Sabin queried, cocking his head a bit and giving Awen his full attention for a moment. "Though... I suppose becoming a fish would be a hard and fast way to get past that. That's the reason you came to the island?" The gears in his head spun, and suddenly clicked forward with an answer. That was right. He had wondered at the strange animal selection, but after speaking with her Moreau's choice made much more sense - and should certainly be fascinating to come to fruit. "But, I hope you get something you like. Furry and such." He nodded. "And hello there, Lauren." He put a clawed finger to his lips and pondered. "Perhaps.... I admittedly haven't been quite as social as many of the other Islanders, but it's quite possible we've passed eachother before." He took another sip from his goblet. Amaya Vaughan Amaya nodded and then jumped slightly as Julian spoke into the mic. She laughed and shrugged. "I have NO idea but..." Her long, clawed fingers ran up and down her arms and she would have shivered if she could.
"I really need to go bask. I don't want to end up just lying here and being an unanimated lump of scales." She gave a forced laugh and looked back to Hargun. "I'm gonna run and get some heat in me for a few minutes and probably grab a hoodie... take care, okay?" Her voice dripped with concern as she sluggishly made her way back to her duplex for some much needed head and more clothing to keep her warm.

Halloweenie 2(Back to the party!)Amaya Vaughan Dammit, of all the nights it had to be this one. After going back to her duplex she had accidently fallen asleep for a few hours. Cursing herself under her breath, she made her way slowly back into the tent and looked around for Hargun. Was she even still here?
Spotting Awen and some man she didn't know, Amaya took a few steps forward but stopped herself. What if that guy didn't know...? There was NO way in hell she was going to do 'tha talk' again. Maybe she should just find Hargun without them seeing her... Jamal_Reedy "A'ight...we can roll out if ya want. It's 'bout time for the party to end anyway, I figger." He got to his feet and kicked his costume away under a table. The man didn't notice the scaley-faced girl at this time. Hargun Aikason After going and comming from the party so many times over, Hargun didnt know weither or not she was there and wandered around the village area for a while and caught sound of the tent and the inhabitants finally. She strolled down and crept in. She could hear Awen.. and someone she obviously hadnt met. She attempted to look with her poor eyes and finally caught sight of Amaya's bright red hair. She lifted and a 'wing' and waved, hoping shed see her without being required to shout out. Awen Zyn She smiled and turned to leave taking a couple steps towards the door with Jamal before noticing Amaya. "Oh, hey there Amaya."
She looked up to Jamal and smiled a little bit. "This is Jamal, Jamal-Amaya." She paused a second. "She's sixteen, but older on the island than either of us." She figured she would get that out of the way before anything got brought up. Though she was fairly certain Amaya had been safe from Jamal to being with... she was just making sure, mistakes canbe made after all...? Lauren Granger Lauren stepped out from lurking unoticably in the shadows when a while after observing Jamal and Awen... they appeared to be flirting. She wasn't sure how she felt about that but didn't trust Jamal around Awen for some reason. She waved towards everyone, "Hey! Actual people here at the party now!" She waved to Jamal, "Hey, I'm Thorn." She gave him a predetory smile, hopeing to imply 'hurt my friend and you die' from her glare. Amaya Vaughan As she looked around the tent she caught sight of Hargun's wing-like hand and smiled. But as she went to run over to her she was cut off by Awen. Wincing she forced on a smile and waved her long, clawed fingers. "Heh... hi Awen. Jamal."
Why was she telling him her age? Why was that relevant?
... ANYWAY! s**t. She didn't want to blow the two off but Hargun was over there and she needed her and... crap.
"Hi Thorn!" Yes, a distraction! After waving to her friend she sloooowly began to wiggle her way towards Hargun. Hopefully they wouldn't notice... even though the many plastic guns around her clicked everytime she moved. Jamal_Reedy Jamal peered at Amaya's face, an odd expression flitting over his features before a smile cracked. "What up. Nice costume," he quipped, indicating the scales, then glanced over to Lauren who had seemily come out of the woodwork. "Hah...now everybody be showin' jus' as we gonna leave," he said none-too-softly, giving the strange blonde a once-over and determining her to be too young without even asking. Plus the fact that she was practically leering at him...well, whatever. He'd dealt with frigid bitches before. "Yo," he said in response to her greeting, giving her a stiff nod. Awen Zyn She smiled awkwardly at "Thorn" and Jamal, distracted too much to really say anything to Amaya to leaving. She didn't want Jamal and Lauren to fight this early though, she really looked up to both of them for strength and yeah... "Heh.. um, hey Lauren, having fun?"
She looked up to Jamal. "Well if you want we don't really have to leave if you want to stay and try and get this party back up and running...?" Hargun Aikason Hargun snickered at Amaya's clicking guns. "Those would drive me insane if I walked around with them." "Yes, hey there Lauren." Hargun greeted and smiled. She turned her head real quick to the person Awen was introducing Amaya to. So Jamal huh? Wish I could see what he was like a little better.. Hell seeing anyone in general would be nice..She shook her head and grinned. "This party seems to last forever.. and I swear to god I keep hearing new people popping up everywhere.." she said to Amaya. Lauren Granger Lauren smiled at Awen and Jamal, "Awww, why ya leaving for?" She kind of had a clue, or geussed something about that but asking the question might make it akward to them, which is what Lauren hoped for. Her slitted eyes still glaring on Jamal, arms crossed as she tried to look as tough as Lauren could.... forgetting that she was dressed as Dorothy. But at least it was an undead gothic lollita Dorothy! Amaya Vaughan "Thankie." Amaya forced a smile as she gradually made her escape, having noted how he looked at her face. Ugh, so he DOESN'T know. Hopefully he won't notice my feet... It was hard to cover them up since her toes had gotten so long.
"They don't bug me much." Once Hargun had approached she stopped her escape and stood next to her. "Tell me about it. And... sorry about poofing for a bit. I accidently fell asleep. Eheh..." She laughed nervously and slumped. Awen Zyn Awen shrugged a little bit. "Change of scenery. I've been here almost all night and was getting a little bored to be honest." her excuses seemed extremely valid. Indeed Awen was naive to the fact that leaving a party together was something to be gossiped about. She didn't even seem to note Lauren's suspisions of it actually. nice in her own little bubble of ignorance. Jamal_Reedy Jamal shrugged. "Don't matta' ta me...but it sorta got a little cold in herr," he said to Awen, giving Lauren a neutral, casual glance. Frankly, he wasn't scared of the little blonde girl and no amount of armcrossing and glaring was going to do it. s**t, he'd beat the s**t out people before. He didn't appreciate the standoffish nature when the girl didn't even know him and it irked him sufficiently that he shoved his hands in his pockets to make fists instead of drawing them into the open air. Not that'd he ever hit a girl unless...well...they deserved it. Hargun Aikason "Nah thats cool." she said. "I did that earlier on at one point.. ended up sleep walking right outta here." she tried to scratch her elbow and failed somewhat. Hargun looked over in the direction of Jamal and Lauren. Was something going on? She turned back to Amaya and continued about the party. "I met that Sabin.. guy. Said I should contact staff and maybe get some glasses." she said and tried to look at her hand in front of her which she couldhardly see, but better than everything else in the room. Lauren Granger Lauren backed down a tad, still on guard. "Ah, well yeah I can see that." She hands in her apron pocket, rocking on her feet. This situation turned akward, why would she care if Jamal and Awen went away together and maybe they weren't. Thorn suddenly felt bad for jumping to conclusions, "Colder outside." She said to Jamal feining ignorance. Amaya Vaughan Amaya nodded in agreement. "Did he say we was one of the staff? And I have a pair of reading glasses, though I dunno how much help they'd be."
She didn't seem to notice the spat between Lauren and Jamal. After awhile she kind of learned to tune out when she noticed how Thorn got defensive. Awen Zyn For a moment Awen frowned at the hostle nature seeming to be radiating from the two. She should have guessed something like this would happen, but why did Lauren glare at him like that in the first place? Why did she start this stuff now at the party. Awen shifted her weight a little bit.
"Well... uh..." She wished she could just say something and those two become friends but she knew that wasn't going to happen. "Well, I was thinking about heading tothe gameroom or my room for some games' she grinned up at Jamal. "So I could own his a** again...." Leveling her gazeshe still held a smile for Lauren. "So it shouldn't be too cold inside right?" Jamal_Reedy Despite Lauren's change of heart, Jamal's good mood was effectively ruined and that was a feat considering he'd been high as a kite after he returned from "getting food". He wasn't up for anymore social nonsense at the moment. At least, not anywhere that people usually congregated about this time of night. "Listen, shorty. Yous can stay and hang wit' these peeps if ya want...brotha's headin' fo' the beach or somethin'. Ain't feelin' into staying 'round herr for right now." He grabbed his do-rag from the mount of sheet on the floor, having forgotten it was over his ghost costume, tied it back on tight over his cornrows, and retrieved his 'bling' from the same source, carefully arranging it back over his neck. Hargun Aikason Hargun made a lame wave to Jamal before he headed out then sighed. "No, I dont think he did.. but.. you never know. The staff here are.. so disturbingly cunning. But anyways, I dunno either. Ill probably be needing big a** glasses thatll make me look so nerdy." she chuckled. Now that she thought about it, she wouldnt mind looking like a bug-eyed-freak than not being able to see where she was. Awen Zyn "Oh but..." She started, she really didn't want to just leave Jamal alone. She wanted to talk to him and maybe help his mood a bit, after all it was sort of her fault for letting all this happen.... but the beach? Why did he have to go to the beach...?
She sighed a little bit and looked up at the big man. "Well.... if you want to Jamal..." Her mood with all this conflict had successfully been dashed as well. She was concidering just going back to her room and kicking some a** with Kilik to try to improve her mood. Maybe..even call the night entirely. She wasn't sure at this point.
"But I don't think I'll be sticking around anyway. Like I said in need of a scene change..." Lauren Granger Lauren felt accomplished in fending Jamal off of Awen, for now anyway. "Yeah, bet he wanted to make it real warm for you." She said as he started to walk off. "See ya, don't drown or anything." Lauren said after him, not really meaning it. She hoped Awen wasn't too mad at her, but she needed to protect her if possible. If Jamal was after more than booty he could wait. Jamal_Reedy Jamal ignored Lauren completely, even though he really wanted to smack her. He, however, addressed Awen. "Well, dat be up to you. Brotha's goin' to the beach...I ain't forcing no one no where." The last sentence was said very pointedly for Lauren's benefit before he turned and headed away from the tent and melted into the darkness. Amaya Vaughan She stopped herself from mentioning contacts, remembering that Hargun's hands were now completely shot so she would have no way of putting them in. "Who knows, maybe they have glasses that are strong but thin?" Amaya shrugged and gave a wave to Jamal and Awen. Awen Zyn For a second she watched Jamal leave before turning to Lauren. She wasn't exactly...happy. In fact she seemed to be quite... upset and angry. Her expression couldn't decide on one single thing so it decided to look angry, but lke she was going to cry all at the same time.
"What is that supposed to mean Lauren!?" She burst finally. Hargun Aikason ((Gotta head out soon, so a few more posts for me xD)) Hargun laughed. "Hopefully. Until then, its blindly drawing with my toes, which are now actually getting a little strange.. Im constantly walking on them." She pondereda bit. Wait a minute... if Ive now changed more.. surely someone else has? "By the way Amaya.. has anyone else you know changed a lot like I've?" She began to make a list of people whom which she met that could change and what horrific features had now been plaguing themas well. Awen's comment caused her to jump slightly. Such anger in her voice.. Amaya Vaughan Amaya blinked, rather surprised at Awen's tone. She'd never heard her upset. Having tuned out most of the argument she was pretty confused as to what was going on.
"So do I." She went back to talking to Hargun, hopeing Lauren and Awen would solve their problems without her getting involved. Her foot raised and her toes curled a bit to emphazize. "Yeah, Greer and Cassidy have... other then that, I don't know of anyone else." Lauren Granger Oh god, now she felt like a heel. Normally that wouldn't happen she would gloat in her accomplishment of causing discord but not now, she upset Awen. "Um," Lauren bit her lip then let it explode out, "He was looking at you like a piece of meat, I saw it, I know guys like that." She didn't really mean it in a racist way, she would be the same to a white guy who looked at Awen like that. Damn, she got herself into a mess. Hargun Aikason Hargun smacked her forehead. Ow.. that was actually stupid.."I forgot! You told me about Cass! Dude.. sorry." she grinned meekly and stepped back a pace. "Erm.. Awen and Jamal must be good friends.. and Jamal not very hot with Lauren huh?" she whispered to her lizardy friend. Things are gonna get out of hand.. maybe I should head out soon..Awen Zyn Awen sighed heavily. "Jamal is my friend Lauren." She said sternly. "Sure he looks at me but so what? Maybe a little attention is good for a change!" She tried to calm herself down, mentally count to ten. She got to On-
"I mean t's not like I would really do anything, for god's sakes I just met him besides all the other stuff happening on the island. And despite what he may seem like at first glance he's really more of a gentleman than you think. I mean he refused t look and hit on me before because he thought I was too young! I mean that sort of says something about a bit of his morality, so I'm not really worried about anything happening against my will, besides I doubt the Doc would condone that kind of stuff huh?" She really was ranting wasn't she? She knew she was probably just stressed about everything and finally just snapping but..she just..couldn't help herself. "All my life Lauren I've been nothing but the friend. Or the goody two shoes. The innocent one. So guys kind of cleared away, they didn't want that hell we all know what they want. But for once, foronce my rep as a goody two shoes sn't known and a guy actually noticed me! Sure iIm going to flirt and god damn me if I love the attention! But I would like to think that I had a bit more respect from you to trust me to make my own decisions Lauren. I am a freaking adult, after all. And who knows what I'll be turning into, I mean even if I did make the choice to sleep with Jamal, that's one: my choice and two: maybe one of the only things that will make me more human. I mean there are so many things I haven't done and god damnit I've lost the opportunity for all of them. Moreau is taking away my humanity so what the hell is wrong with trying to stay human with human feelings as long as I can!?"
She suddenly ran out of steam, completely at a loss for what to say. This pause finally got her to realise what the hell she was really doing. She just... Oh god she was an idiot.... Lauren.... She didn't mean to yell at Lauren. She.... oh no... Amaya Vaughan "That's what I'm guessing." Amaya took a step back as well to give Lauren and Awen some space. "I just met the guy myself." Her voice was kept very low, knowing that with those ears Hargun could hear a cricket screaming under a boot inside one of the duplexes.
Green gaze darted around the room and then to the stage. "Think they have any good songs on that?" Ah, a nice change of subject. Ignore Awen's yelling. Wasn't her problem right now. Nope! Nopenope. Just... walk towards the stage. There ya go. Lauren Granger Lauren was near tears, what was that... tears? She held her head down her hair over her eyes, feining a sneeze to wipe the water away. "I... I.... I..." She was stuttering this was hard to say, "I'm sorry I just don't know. I got protective. You know how aweful guys can be on the streets, seemed like every guy I knew was always looking to break in a new girl, one by one." Oh gods... not those memories, anything but those... block block block.... "I was tall enough and tough enough to fight them off, always stood up for my friends. Geuss that's why I got tough all of a sudden. You're right, you're an adult, I'm the kid here... even though only technically one year from it and adult or minor doesn't seem to matter where I'm from. But yeah, sorry... I just hell I don't know but sorry." She felt bad...really bad. But she still didn't want Awen to sleep with Jamal and didn't quite know why. Hargun Aikason ((G2G x__x; )) Hargun shrugged. "I dunno. Maybe. Julian and Lauren sang some good ones earlier." Her ears twitched to the conflict between Lauren and Awen and it sounded intense. She leaned over and whispered again. "Hey Im gonna head out. Ill see you later kay?" she said, and rushed out shouting a quick "Bye!" to Lauren and Awen, waving to all three as she made her way to her duplex. Amaya Vaughan "See ya!" Amaya waved to Hargun and then headed over to the stages to scroll through the songs. She should have just left too, but she couldn't leave the party for good until she had sung one of her favorite songs or something.
Finding nothing on the machine, she frowned. "Danm..." Pulling a CD out from her back pocket, she stuck it into the player and stood up at the mic, lowering it to her own height and then taking it off the stand. Maybe he horrible singing would distract Awen and Lauren or something.
With a shrug she cleared her throat and tapped on the mic before starting her song. Bat Country somehow really fit the situation in some aspects and oddly enough, Avenged Sevenfold was one of her favorite bands.
"He who makes a beast out of himself, gets rid of the pain of being a man!
Caught here in a fiery blaze, won't lose my will to stay! I tried to drive all through the night, the heat stroke ridden weather, the barren empty sights! No oasis here to see, the sand is singing deathless words to me!
Can't you help me as I'm startin' to burn! Too many doses and I'm starting to get an attraction! My confidence is leaving me on my own! No one can save me and you know I don't want the attention!
As I adjust to my new sights the rarely tired lights will take me to new heights! My hand is on the trigger I'm ready to ignite! Tomorrow might not make it but everything's all right! Mental fiction follows me; show me what it's like to be set free!
So sorry you're not here I've been sane too long my vision's so unclear! Now take a trip with me but don't be surprised when things aren't what they seem!
Caught here in a fiery blaze, won't lose my will to stay! These eyes won't see the same, after I flip today!
Sometimes I don't know why we'd rather live than die, we look up towards the sky for answers to our lives! We may get some solutions but most just pass us by, don't want your absolution cause I can't make it right! I'll make a beast out of myself, gets rid of all the pain of being a man!
So sorry you're not here I've been sane too long my vision's so unclear! Now take a trip with me but don't be surprised when things aren't what they seem! I've known it from the start all these good ideas will tear your brain apart! Scared but you can follow me I'm too weird to live but much too rare to die!"
There was a lot of screaming involved, but Amaya seemed to hit the song pretty well. Singing along to music everyday of her life really helped with that. Even though she didn't create her own music, listening to it and singing along was one of her passions. Music charms the beast, they say.
Once she gave a mock bow. "Thanko, thanko very much." Turning around she promptly pulled out her CD and stuck it into her back pocket once more.

Drama At The Halloween Party(Amaya bumps into Moreau and a few others at the Halloween party)Amaya Vaughan Amaya yawned as she walked back towards the tent. Another nap had done her good. She was nice 'n warm and had even gotten out of her costume, though her hair was still a startling red. She wore her hoodie to keep warm, but her legs were only covered in a pair of lite yellow pants with tiny rubber duckies on them.
Spotting a group inside she smiled and took a few steps closer but froze. M-... Oh my god...
Her knees started to shake as she stared at the man she had only seen once before. Her mind screamed at her to run. To get away from the evil man and hide in her room. But she didn't.
Ambrose and Mister Dude were there.
She bolted forward and latched onto the back of her 'older brother's' shirt sleeve, hiding behind him as she shook and peeked around him to see what was going on. Amaya wanted to pull at him and tell him to run. To just get away from the doctor so nothing bad would happen, but words failed to escape her lips as she stared in childish horror. Ambrose Maurlias Even Ambrose growled a bit under his breath at Moreau's haughty affirmation of their status. Part of him wanted to go for his throat if nothing else than to wipe the smug smile off his face, but Ambrose quickly quelled the thought. Just a passing musing.... really. He wouldn't LET the doctor win... take away his honor like that. Ambrose quietly nodded to the Dude's words, glad that they were voiced. "Despite what you are doing to us... we are still men and women... people who have done nothing to deserve imprisonment." Ambrose finished, his voice dropping, indicating a hopeful finality. He had just begun to turn, his eyes catching Emelyn's presence - back once again, her eyes showing the shattered hope that was struck by the scene before her. He wanted to go to her, console her.... but... on the other hand, he was, in a way, glad that she could see that. See Moreau as the true b*****d that he was, and the reality of the situation that they were in. He was about to step to her when he felt arms around him and turned down to see Amaya's emerald eyes wide with fear, and his heart melted. He carefully wrapped an arm around her. "It's okay, Amaya" he whispered. "I think the party's over." His eyes lifted over to Emelyn, an apologetic ghost of a smile flitted across his face. Doctor Moreau Moreau gave the Dude a steely gaze. "Yes, Mr. Maurlias I believe the party is very much over." Moreau turned his back defiantly. He smiled for a second, he'd had another command put into the chips that he hadn't talked about or shown much. "Subject Carroll, sleep." Moreau figured he'd leave him there for the night, after all he couldn't trust him not to attack his back. Perhaps Moreau had shown too much of his true face tonight, perhaps not. Either way he still felt he was very much the victor here. "Come Aubrey." Moreau pulled on her arm heading back to the Mansion. Emelyn Emelyn walked around the scene, eyes locked to Ambrose as his eye contact remained, unfaltering. She wondered what was behind those eyes- but this was not the time or place to ask. He whispered something to the girl who had come up behind him, and Em stayed several steps away, not wanting to disturb whatever it was they were saying. But she turned her head, as if spurning the actors in this foul play, and said to Ambrose, "I think it's time we go," she said, her voice unwavering... but a sweet sadness lingering in the words. The Dude XD Seeing all this support from all sides, the Dude really kinda puffed up. The Sea lion was talking inside. "You think you are god, Moreau. You think just because you have us trapped on this island and have a few cameras in place, that you just own us, don't you? YOu dont' own us yet!" - he smirked. Then Moreau told the Subject Carroll to sleep, and the Dude opened his mouth to tell him to ******** off, but instead his eyes went to the back of his head and he collapsed onto the ground, knocked out cold. Probably got a bruise or two in the process, unless somebody caught him going down. Emelyn Before Emelyn could say another word, Moreau spoke his command, and The Dude hit the ground- a lifeless puppet. She jumped back so hard, one of her heels hit the earth at a hard angle and she fell to the ground herself, skittering away with a kick of her legs. "God..." she said, terrified at the sight of the slacken Dude. That the man had such power over them... filled her with a dread that hadn't even overtaken her when her boat had sunk with her below deck. This was not a random force of nature that might lord over them... but a man. A madman with a genius that no one could have guessed he possessed. Aubrey Lockheart ((Godmodding Moreau with permission))
Aubrey was dragged along a few steps as Moreau pulled her away. But then she stopped and went to go aide the Dude. Moreau held firmly to her arm as she tried, his jaw clenching. Aubrey gave him a look and pulled her arm away. Moreau was hesitant to let go, but he wasn't about to hurt her. He let go before squeezing it enough to leave a bruise, but he narrowed his eyes dangerously at her. He was not pleased in the least.
"I'm just going to make sure he's okay," she said, barely above a whisper. For the first time ever, the subjects witnessed a hint of fear behind Aubrey's eyes as Moreau looked down at her. Doing his best to keep his rage in check, he turned around and stormed out the door.
Aubrey just stood there for a moment, shaking. Blinking back tears, knowing she would pay for this later, she finally turned and kneeled down beside the unconscious Dude to make sure he wasn't cut. Amaya Vaughan She felt like she was going to cry just because of how scared she was. Moreau was like that evil monster under your bed or in your closet that you KNEW was there when you were little. But eventually you got the courage to venture into the closet and find out you were just imagining things. This... this was like you had walked into a closet and the evil monster had wrapped it's claws around you and pulled you inside, locking you in the evil dimension filled with monsters that existed in your closet.
Amaya silently nodded to Ambrose, taking comfort in his pressance. large green eyes still didn't leave Moreau; like he was some hideous creature that held her morbid curiosity... or at least until Dude went down. The words that left his mouth were a jumbled mess, only Ambrose's and Emelyn's words coming in clear.
She screamed, hands flying to her mouth as the worst came to her mind. The doctor had some evil death control thing! How else would Mister Dude have gone down so easily? Tears started to pour down her face as she sobbed, the fact she was 16 years old seemed completely irrelevant as the frightened child inside took complete control. Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose was turning to go, walking towards Emelyn with Amaya under a protective arm... when his blood ran cold as he heard those words spoken with such sinister confidence, and then the confirming "THUD". He turned, slowly, jaw slackening as he watched the Dude fall down onto the ground with so little as a few words from Moreau's mouth. "H... how?!" Ambrose voice slipped out in a horrified whisper. What had they done to them!? How did the Dude pass out on command of the doctor?! Ambrose wrapped his arms around Amaya, reaching within himself for the depths of his strength, he needed to be - for her sake... for Emelyn's sake... And then... the unimaginable. Aubrey, before all of their eyes, Defied a direct command from the Doctor. The man who had her on a metaphorical leash... Ambrose pulled back with Amaya, towards Emelyn. "We should go..." Ambrose's voice was quiet, but had a underlying strength. It might be temporary, but the adrenaline was pumping, summoning forth that secret reserve from within him. "Aubrey..." Ambrose spoke to her. "He isn't hurt, is... he? Can you help us get him back to his room. Away from here." Aubrey Lockheart "He's okay, I think," she squeaked, quickly wiping a tear that slipped down her cheek, leaving a trail of smeared make-up. She hooked her elbows under the Dude's large armpits and waited for Ambrose to help her. Emelyn Emelyn came forward, her heel slightly turned in from her fall. "Here... let me help," she said, taking part of the weight from Aubrey... and, at the same time, looking at wonder at this woman who she thought she knew. It seems that the night was a complete cycle of awakenings... for the people she'd misjudged. Amaya Vaughan Amaya sniffed and clung tightly to Ambrose's shirt, practially attached to him. She wanted to leave, to run away from everything and just sleep all the memories away. But... Dude was just lying there. What had happened? Was he asleep? He wasn't dead was he? What was going on? Thousands of questions swam through her head as she watched Aubrey, whom she had not even noticed until now.
Aubrey... why was that name familiar?
She was shaking again, wanting to help Mister Dude up but too scared to get any closer. Aubrey was... the one who had made the Halloween party. But she had been attached to Moreau which was never a good thing.
Reluctantly she let go to Ambrose's shirt so he could help, but stayed close to him and tried not to get in the way while staying silent. Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose went to the Dude's side after giving Amaya another reassuring hug. "I know you're scared..." He said quietly. "We all are. But right now I'm going to help the Dude. We're here for eachother." He said, the seriousness and take-charge attitude washed over him at the moment. More than ever, the "costume" tabard that draped over him seemed to transcend costume status, Ambrose's directiveness filling out the uniform in both build and attitude. Ambrose smiled to her and followed Emelyn to go help Aubrey. The Dude, especially after his transformation, was no small guy. He got his shoulder under one of the Dude's arms, and slowly started to lift. "At least his room isn't far from here." Ambrose said to Aubrey and Emelyn. "We should be able to get him there safely." He paused for a moment, weighing the breath in his mouth. ".... Thank you, Aubrey. That.... I know that took a lot of courage." He looked her straight in the face. Aubrey Lockheart Aubrey's averted her eyes away from Ambrose. "I don't know what's gotten into him..." Wow, she sounded like so lame. LIke those battered wives. She knew it was a lie, but she felt she needed to say something. Especially because it was hard to keep her tears in check witha frightened teenage girl right there. Maternal instincts were ringing warning bells in her head and she had the desire to pull her into a hug and comfort her, even though she had never met the girl. Emelyn Emelyn didn't know Aubrey well enough to echo Ambrose's sentiments out loud, but she gave the woman a soft smile, and hoped that the expression on her face was conveying what she felt- that Emelyn wanted to get to know the depth behind this person she'd previously misjudged. "Here... where are we... going to put him?" She said it with little breath, and haltingly- it was difficult to be bowed over with such little support to her costume. Amaya Vaughan She nodded and stepped clear out of the way so they could all help carry him to his room. The feeling of uselessness overwhelmed her as she watched them, knowing she couldn't help them carry Mister Dude... she could probably only left one of his arms with how weak she was.
Amaya took her place next to Ambrose, but still far enough so as to not accidently trip him to make it any harder to carry Dude. She listened to the conversation, finally managing to met Aubrey's face with her eyes. Everyone seemed to like her, but why?
Well, she was helping Mister Dude and had left the doctor to help them so... she couldn't be THAT bad, right? She was crying a little too... Man, she was so confused.
Amaya rubbed her long, clawed hands over her arms, staying silent since she didn't have really anything to add to the conversation besides thousands of questions. Ambrose Maurlias With the help of Aubrey and Emelyn, Ambrose helped lift the Dude out of the tent and into the cooler night air of the village. The music that still eminated from the tent seemed to take on a hollow, almost sardonic reminder of the "party" that had been going on that took a devastating reality shock. The night animal sounds from the jungle called out around them, bringing them out of the sheltered tent and somewhere easier to think. "Let's get him to his room. It's not far from here." Ambrose started walking towards the familiar duplex, just one of many identical doors in the village. Aubrey Lockheart AUbrey was silent and put all her concentration into moving the Dude into his duplex. Whether or not they had the key, Aubrey was able to open the door using an electric keypad covered by a faux brick. She did her best not to make eyecontact, yet still look where she was going. She was dreaded how Moreau would act once she got back, especially given he probably took her staying as adding insult tp injury. Though he would never express it, Aubrey had a sense Moreau's pride was badly wounded by the blow he took from Sean- much moreso than the physical damaged he caused.
As soon as Dude was on his bed, Aubrey took a deep breath. " I should go," she whipered, looking hesitantly toward the door. Emelyn "Thank you, Aubrey," Emelyn said, again feeling like her words couldn't convey what she was thinking, and hoping that at least some of her expression or body language was coming through more articulately. "I'm sure it'll be important to him... what you did... when he wakes up," She said. A wave of... stilted confusion came over Emelyn, and the duality of the evening caused a buzz to hum in her ears- the forewarning of a headache that was forming. She turned to Ambrose and tilted her head forward at an incline to touch his blue-clad shoulder and let a sigh emanate in a warm breath onto the fine material. Amaya Vaughan Amaya looked down at the Dude once he was placed on his bed, then back to the others. Words still failed to break past the lump in her throat. She wanted to thank Aubrey as well, but when her mouth opened nothing came out, so it was promptly shut again. Ambrose Maurlias After Ambrose saw to it that Dude was laid on his bed (only pausing for a moment for another shudder as he saw the keypad that had been hidden from his notice until now - another garish reminder of just how much control they had over them that had remained a secret until tonight). He checked his breathing and his pulse quickly before leaving him there sleeping and walking back out the door. Ambrose nodded seriously to Aubrey, knowing how much she had jeopardized by this 'small' gesture. It was more than assistance, it was a choice - the first choice he had seen of her choosing the Islanders over Moreau during a confrontation. And perhaps, just maybe, a glimmer of hope. "I will see you around, hopefully." He added with a sincere, worried look. He squeezed her shoulder silently and turned to Amaya. "Are you alright...? Do you want to go back to your room...? Do you want to look after the Dude to make sure he's alright tonight?" Finally, he turned to Emelyn, putting his hand on top of hers, feeling the reassuring warmpth and let his eyes fall into the blue pools that were hers. So much had happened that night so quickly. He had almost forgotten that this had started out as a party... a date. "I'm sorry, Emelyn.... I wish that tonight could have... come to a better close." A small smile touched his lips. Aubrey Lockheart Aubrey summoned her courage and gave a curt nod to Ambrose and the others before turning and making the way back to the mansion. It was long, ominous road ahead, and she knew it. Amaya Vaughan "I-I'm okay." Amaya nodded, stuttering slightly as her voice choked. "I'm gonna stay here if that's okay." She stood at Dude's doorway, looking back at him with a worried frown. Leaving him after something as extreme as all this just... didn't seem right. Her hands rubbed her arms once more to get warmth back into her system and to try and keep the tears from coming back again.
Mister Dude had been one of the friendliest and kind people she had met on the island. Even though the last time she had met him had been when she arrived, she didn't want anything bad to happen to him. Even if she had to stay up all night she would try her best to make sure when he woke up he knew what happened and had help if he needed it. Emelyn "It's okay," she whispered, putting her free hand up to touch the side of Ambrose's face. Her fingers came in contact with fur, but she reacted as if she'd touched smooth, unaltered skin, and brought herself closer to him with an automatic movement towards the taller figure- towards the 'protection' she found herself craving these days. "It was a nice evening..." she hesitated, and her eyes lit on the figure prone on the bed. "...and I think everything will work out for the better." She walked out, ready to head over to her own duplex, but not before turning back to her 'date'. "Would you follow that girl back home? It seems like you know her, and I think she's still pretty shaken up." Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose drew a deep breath, letting it out slowly as the tension slowly started to dissapate, leaving only a weary exhaustion and a cold realization of their real status on the Island, behind the formalities. Ambrose nodded seriously to Amaya. "That's very noble of you, Amaya. The Dude is a very nice man... and I agree with you - he deserves to know what happened." He gave her one final hug that night. "You're a lot more grown up than many of the people on this Island, Amaya. And I think you've been very brave. If you need any help, just dial 1 on the intercom, and I'll come help." He smiled, turning back to Emelyn. "I'm glad.... despite the miserable ending. And I Do hope that you're right." He followed her a few steps towards the rest of the village. "And thank you, for everything. Coming here with me, your encouragement, everything." He stepped closer to her, closing his eyes at her touch of the side of his face, her hands feeling so soft... Slowly, he took that hand in his, and, while keeping his eyes on hers, raise it to his lips and left a small, warm kiss on the back of her hand. "Milady... it was my honor to escort you to the ball this evening. And may your dreams take you to fonder realms than this one." He gave a deep bow before rising, and with a tip of his hat, slowly made his way back to his duplex where without even undressing or showering, he collapsed from exhaustion onto the bed - now quite early in the morning after a very long night of dancing... and emotional strain. Amaya Vaughan Amaya smiled slightly and returned his hug. "Thanks..." A loud yawn escaped her lips and she looked at both Ambrose and Emelyn timidly. "I will, night." With a tiny wave she closed the door, making sure to keep it unlocked just in case someone needed to get in.

Watching Over Mister DudeAmaya Vaughan Amaya silently closed the door the the Dude's room and grabbed an extra blanket from his closet, throwing it over him to make sure he was warm enough. To her, it was kinda cold in the room... even though she knew she was cold blooded, she couldn't tell wether anyone else found it uncomfortable. Better safe then sorry.
After making sure he was covered she pulled a chair over to the side of his bed and grabbed a spare sheet as well, wrapping herself in it and balling up on it.
Even though she swore to herself she would stay up all night, she rather quickly fell asleep. Her dreams were confusing and jumbled, containing the things that had happened just hours before. Of course, she wouldn't remember any of it when she woke up. The Dude XD The Dude had spent the entire night in a dreamless oblivion. The microchip was still exerting slight counter current on his brain stem, enough to keep him knocked out but his heart and breathing rate stable. Moreau was playing a dangerous game here with the microchip. Sure, 99 attempts out of a 100 had a complete reawakening of the subject without any detrimental effects. But there was still that 1 in a 100 chance that the ever so slight counter current exerted by the chip would be too strong, that the vital systems of the body would be affected and the subject's heart would stop. It's not like he got a chance to test it on a 100 men yet ... Eventually the timing of the program activated by the doctor timed out and the Dude slowly returned from the sleep-like state. He opened his eyes and stared blankly at the ceiling. Where was he? Wasn't he just at the party right now? Why was he horizontal? Turning his head to the side he saw a dark haired girl curled up in the armchair next to his bed. He was in his room, he slowly realized ... what was this girl's name? "A ... amaya?" - he asked, hoping he was right there. Amaya Vaughan A snort escaped the girl's scale covered nose as her head fell from the back rest of the chair. Catching herself she rose her head and turned to the voice, eyes straining to open in tiny slits. "Yeah... yeah." Taking a deep breath she rubbed her eyes with her long, clawed fingers. "Sorry, I was going stay up to make sure you were okay but I fell asleep... are you alright?"
Blinking a few times she looked down at him, eyes filled with sleepy concern as her long toes curling around the edge of the chair before she tightened the blanket around herself so most parts of her body were covered. Dude hadn't seen her changed, had he?
Oh well, not the time to think about that. She needed to make sure he was alright. The Dude XD "Yeah .. fine. Struck with amnesia, though. What happened? Did ... did I just DREAM I smacked Moreau or what?" - there was a strong sense of dissapointment in his voice there. He sat down on the bed and scratched his head, looking around quite bewildered still. There was sun shining outside so he must have been zonked out for quite a while. Did Amaya really stay here all night to watch over him???? Amaya Vaughan "No, you got him alright. After that you two fought a little bit and then he said something like... 'Subject Carroll Sleep' or something. Then you just kinda... zonked unconscious." Amaya frowned and curled the blanket tighter around her small frame. The scales on her face seemed duller then they normally should have been, having become a rather dull green due to her lack of basking throughout the night since the party. The air conditioner inside the room wasn't helping either. The Dude XD Oh yeah ... she was right. The events of last night began to slowly come back in the Dude's head. Moreau's sneering face, Aubrey's shocked expression, Ambrose, looking horribly indecisive at first, then coming out for support and Awen, trying to keep the peace ... "WOW. It's insane that he can put us out by word alone. Megalomaniac b*****d ..." - he grumbled, feelign a bit defeated. But still, he smacked Moreau good. Part of the Dude was extremely excited aboutit, but most of him felt sick. He was not a violent man. There was not question about the fact that Moreau deserved it, but it also made him feel like a beast. But it was for Greer ... and all the other people on the island. "It was very nice of you to come watch over me like that, Amaya." - he smiled at her. "Who brougth me here? Couldn't have just been you alone ..." Then he noticed that the girl was shivering: "Are you okey?" Amaya Vaughan Amaya nodded with small smile, glad that he seemed alright. Her face still looked tired as she spoke. "Thanks, it's alright. Ambrose, some woman with spikey hair, and that Aubrey lady carried you here." She smiled slightly in jest. "I'm probably too wimpy to even lift one of your arms."
She then frowned at the question and cursed her new, altered body. "Just a little cold. I'm cold-blooded now, so I have trouble keeping warm a lot..." The Dude XD "Aubrey helped? Moreau LET her?" - the Dude's jaw hit the floor and a bad sense of foreboding settled inside his stomach. Surely Moreau didn't instruct her to help carry the bumm that hit him in the face. Aubrey dissobeyed the doctor! WOW. The unthinkable has actually happened ... "Well, let's get you outside into the sun, then" - he stood up and offered his hand to pull Amaya out of the chair. "Sun and food will fix things, I am sure ..." And the two headed for the cafeteria (the RP moves there now.) The Dude XD The Dude, Amaya in tow, has walked into the cafeteria this fine sunny morning. After the events of the past night, there were a lot of thougth on the sea lion's mind, but food came first. Besides, Amaya was shivering from the coldness ofhis room and the cafeteria not only had food, but a much move ambient temperature as well. "So what happened after Moreau knocke dme out?" - the Dude asked Amaya, loading his plate with scrambled eggs and toast Amaya Vaughan With a little help from Dude, Amaya made her way out of his duplex and followed him to the cafeteria. She kept to the sun and walked slowly, her tempature rising the more time she spent in the hot rays as they walked. "Well, I don't remember much since I kinda freaked out but... That Aubrey woman went to help you and Moreau didn't look happy. I think she's scared of him or something..."
She trailed off in thought, trying to remember what had happened that night. "After that Ambrose, Aubrey and that one woman all carried you to your room. Aubrey then left, and Ambrose walked the one woman home and I stayed there... that's pretty much all I can remember." Amaya looked slightly ashamed she couldn't remember every detail of the conversation. She had been so scared and freaked out most, of the night was just a vicious blurr.
After grabbing a decent-sized breakfast salad containing scrambled eggs, lettuce, and bits of toast, she looked do Dude with a curious expression. "It seemed like Aubrey worked for the doctor, right? How come everyone seemed to like her...? And she didn't seem like Moreau at all... kinda looked nice. Ambrose kept thanking her, too." The Dude XD "Well, you see, Aubrey's in love with Moreau. She'll do anything for him, I think. She's also hie head scientist. And always makes excuses for the megalomaniac ... But she is also a very good person and tired to do her best to make our lives on the island, well, nice. Her consiousness must be eating on her." - the Dude shrugged, buttering his toast. "Oh and the spikey haired woman you are talking about - her name is Emelyn. The reason she's spikey is because she's turnign into a hedgehog. Are you turning into a lizard of some kind?" Colche "Twinkle twionkle little star, how I wonder.." a pause in the toddlers song braught colche in to view. She paused for a moment biting her tongue before she seemingly rememberd what she was saying "Watchu are, up above the world so high..uhm..hnn" her brow creased and she suddenly realised there were people in the cafeteria. A curious look swept over her soft youthful features as she saw the dude , she even paused, watching for a moment, an almost dubeous look in those deep blue eyes. It was okay, Amaya was there, Amaya promised no mroe scary. Still, she moved around the tables in a rather round about way collecting a biowl full of anything and everything at the food bar before standing awquardly, she wasn't sure if she could go over, did she have to wait to be invited? She usually was, she would wait to beasked. She hopped rather unsteadily from one foot to the other watching the large male, it was always an edgy time when ever she first met somone not of the feminine gender. Her song was almost forgotten at this point though it seemed to suddenly pop back in to her head "like a Di..ya..mund..in the sky" she looked confused again, the words simply escaped her. Hargun Aikason Hargun had been lazy today when it came to dressing. A few of her old clothes were obviously no longer going to make it around her strange arms. Only her larger articles worked... that and her swimsuit. Swimsuit it was. Though it was sunny out, she knew she needed to get something to eat.. her stomache continuously whining for the creepy crawlies that she so frequently ate. And what better place to go than the breeding ground for all her little snacks but the cafeteria itself. She threw on her sunglasses and made a rather cheerful trot down to the cafeteria. Fortunately, she missed the madness that had occured during the end of the Halloween bash. As soon as she stepped in she noticed the Dude and Amaya, and almost shouted loudly until she spotted the innocent Colche moving about. Instead, she walked calmly in and sat down near Amaya and the Dude, and rather quietly and formally, said "Hiya guys." Amaya Vaughan "... Ohhhhhhh..." Amaya blinked at this new information and sat down at a table as she listened to Dude. "And yeah, I think so. Still dunno what exactly." She stabbed at her salad and took a bite, remembering what Greer had said weeks ago about being brave and looking into it... she still had yet to follow that advice and really should look into it today. "Greer said I should look into it, but I've just been too scared too... I really should, though. I've been trying to get up the courage."
Spotting Colche, she turned to face her and swallowed what she had in her mouth. "Hiya Colche." She gestured with her hand for her to come over. "Come sit? It's alright." Amaya wondered if she had met Mister Dude before... she looked kind of nervous.
Wow, everyone was plowing into the cafeteria now. She smiled at Hargun and waved, making sure not to raise her voice too high since Colche was around. "Heya Hargun. You missed one heck of an episode at the party late last night." Amaya half wanted to laugh, half wanted to frown... so she settled for a hoarse snort. The Dude XD The Dude waved at the two girls, neither of whom he recognised. Well, the blond one look familiar, but he couldn't put a finger on it. She looked quite advanced in her change, probably even farther then him. "Hey there." - he nodded to both of them. Tehn Amaya referred to the dark haired girl as Colche and the name rang a bell instantly. This was Colche? The abused child that Aubrey told him about. She acted quite strange for an 18 year old but that was to be expected from somebody who live thru the darkness. The Dude shut up, feeling guilty for no good reason. After all, he was also a man, and thus the vile half of humanity that has brought Colche somuch pain Colche Colche bobbed from one foot to the other for another moment before she slipped over to the table and sat next to hargun. She scrunched up on the bench slightly , though she manages to smile at The Dude and wave to Amaya. Her eyes fixed on the strange man though, was he nice like ambrose? She bit her bottom lip a few times before swallowing hard and speaking "Colche" she said simply, she still hadn't quite got the hang of saying I am. She looked at the Dude expectantly, her cool, sad blue eyes never leaving him, though she did manage to look around once, just incase, while she assured herself that nothing bad would happen, Amaya had promised. Nothing bad would happen. Hargun Aikason Hargun was about to open her mouth when she notcied Colche sit beside her. She gave a warm smile then turned back to Amaya. "Mm... so I did miss alot eh? Nothing.. bad happened, did there?" she asked and before speaking again, looked under the table as she heard her voice softly beating off a bug crawling under the table top, then grabbed it, and quickly popped it in her mouth. "Erm.. sorry about that.." she blushed then turned to the Dude. "Its been awhile since Ive seen you.. uh sorta.. Dude." Amaya Vaughan "This is Mister Dude, he's nice... I promise." Amaya tried to find a way to assure Colche that he wouldn't hurt her. "Uhm... Dude fuzzy, see?" She pointed to some of the hair on his chest and laughed nervously. "Fuzzy nice." Her hand gestured for him to sit down with them. The friendlier he was the more Colche would warm up to him.
She was begining to get used to Hargun randomly poping bugs in her mouth, so she didn't say anything and continued with her story. She kept her voice somewhat low, not knowing if Colche might get upset if she picked out certain words. "Well, Moreau was there with Aubrey and... Dude socked him." Amaya stopped there so see what she had to say. The Dude XD "Yes yes, Dude very nice." - the Dude nodded energetically, trying to do his best and inside deeply amused by the way Amaya spoke to Colche. The striped kitten was really still very much a child. "You know Greer? Well Greer told me to teach Colche how to swim." - he smiled again at that stetment, too and then raised an amused eyebrow at Amaya's description of last night's event. To the point, that girl. Colche "Suu..wim?" Colche tilted her head softly "Greer nice" she states smiling lightly, noticing that the dude was indeed of the fuzzy viriety of people, she openley relaxed a bit, managing to scoff down a big chunck of chocolate cake before asking any more questions. She didn't even catch any of Amaya's words she wondered what this swim thing was. "Dude fuzzy, fuzzy nice" She nods an affirmative, fuzzy people in her short time out of the darkness had indeed been very nice. She licks her lips ridding her self of the taste of chocolate, though as always she managed to get some on her cheek and a bit of chocolate cream had escaped on to her nose, she didn't seem to notice or mind if she did. The thought that she was to be taught something made her grin and even(by some minor mirricle) froget the food upon her plate. She loved to be taught anything at all, she was far from stupid, she was willing to learn she just needed people to teach her. Hargun Aikason Hargun looked rather bewildered at first. Hearing that the Doctor reared his head again obviously meant something bad happened or as going to at least. The first time she actually met him was at the beach when he was walking with Aubrey, and at that time seemed as if nothing was wrong with him, until the bar incident. And even at the bar, the Dude had been involved. To him it mustve been some sort of victory, being able to hit the doc. "Showed him what for, eh? Did he just leave after that or something? I bet his reaction was priceless." She asked, and made a retarded face of the doc being hit, and slightly hit the table, then looked back up. She couldn't help but smile after listening to Colche. The girl sounded so sweet, and the Dude was going to teach her to swim? It just made her feel all fuzzy inside.. (despite how lame of a pun that was. x''D) Amaya Vaughan "Yeah and that'd be nice. I'm pretty sure she likes the water. I took her to the beach awhile ago to hunt for seashells." Amaya smiled at the thought, thinking that anything Colche learned being good for her. Mister Dude was gentle and soft-spoken too, which would be even better.
She managed to laugh slightly at Hargun's impression, but it didn't last very long as she took another bite of her salad. "Actually, he got mad and... somehow put him asleep. Said something like 'Subject Carroll Sleep'..." Amaya's voice was grave, the control he had over them almost unrealistic. The Dude XD Now that he was on Colche's good side, the Dude nodded with a smile and elaborated further: "Well, hargun, I think your impression wa more like me hitting the deck when he told me to sleep. It's pretty amazing, actually, that he is able to do that. but what's weird is that he didn't use the command on me right away ... maybe he was waiting for Aubrey to do that ... and she failed him. I wonder how he can put us out with words alone ... it's like magic." - he shrugged, still very amuzed by Hargun's visuals. "Anyway ... sorry i didn't recognise you, Hargun. How are you feeling?" - he looked at the bat girl. Colche Colche sat silently now, then suddenly, she looked like she rememberd something "Bunny!" she exclaimed, falling off her seat and scrambling for the buffet bar, the lady behind the counter handed her a bowl of cabbage stalks and she went to bolt out the door, though she paused for a moment at the table and smiled "Seventeen dude" she said simply smiling and turning away from them running out of the cafeteria towards her appartment, she hadn't fed bunny yet! She felt rather guilty about this but she would feed him now. Hargun Aikason "He did WHAT?" Hargun exclaimed, her face now a bit flushed. "At first I thought the cameras werre the worst he could do, but putting us to sleep??" It was evident that things were a bit more frightening after this news. Her voice calmed a bit. "It didnt hurt... like a zap or anything did it? Or were you unconcious before you hit the ground?" She shook her head. "Sorry.. I shouldnt be trying to dig up so many details. Im worried now though.. maybe he can make us do more than just fall asleep on command, yah know? Oh its okay. And I /was/ doing okay." she laughed slightly then sighed. "Until now of course." She raised a brow at Colche and judging by the items she was gathering from the cafeteria lady, she had a pet at home. Or something like that at least.. Amaya Vaughan Amaya looked pretty surprised at Dude's assumptions. "Wow, no wonder Ambrose kept thanking her. To go against him is like... suicide, isn't it?" Just from the one time she had met him, he had that whole 'evil mad scientists possessive jerkoff' thing goin' on.
She jumped as Colche exclaimed, watching with wide eyes as she scrambled about. "Bunny...? Oh! Bunny!" Blinking, she waved to the girl as she ran out. "Bye-bye Colche!" The Dude XD "Well, I hope it's not suicide, Amaya. I hope it's not." - he scratched his head, looking worried. part of him began to regret that fight already. Now Aubrey was in trouble. But in a way, it was for the best. maybe she'd find it in her heart to rebel against him, then. Or a way to turn them all back to normal or something. Nah ... that was nothing but a wet dream. But wasn't the thought of being turned INTO an animal sort of like a bizarre dream, too? Never give up hope, Dude ... "And it didn't hurt, Hargun. I think I remember him telling me "Subject Carroll, Sleep" and then I jsut don't remember anything at all. I was out before I even hit the floor ..." Hargun Aikason Shuddering, she repeated Subject Carroll, Sleep in her head as if making a new alarm system for anything like that to happen again, shed be able to know what was about to happen at least. "Aubrey and Moreau are obviously close.. and yea, if she didnt active it or whatever right as he was hit as you guys are saying then thats like turning your back to your master. Hopefully he didn't hurt her or anything afterwards." She slouched in her chair, eyes level with the table. I want to go back home.. she thought. It was a while since she felt this intensely homesick, and that her 'new home' was revealing more and more terrible things, things youd only ever read in stories or watch in movies. Amaya Vaughan For the most part, Amaya stayed silent and listened to the two. There was nothing she could add to the conversation that both of them were already thinking. The Dude XD The Dude looked first at Amaya then at hargun and shook his head: "Come on guys, perk up. Sorry, I didnt' mean to bring everyone down like that. Look at the bright side - Moreau got a face full of fist last night. And I'm still standing among you! Must mean something good. Little victories, guys. Little victories ... " - he smiled and nodded, hoping that it woudl cheer the two up. Hargun Aikason Hargun laughed slightly and slowly slid up from her slouch, her butt had gone numb. "I guess when you put it that way..." she began then tried to smile a little. She stretched a bit and glanced at Amaya who seemed quiet, but she could tell she was intent still then returned to teh Dude. "And hopefully these 'little victories' are going to somehow get us off this damnation of an island.. or at least stop moreau from his work." Amaya Vaughan Amaya smiled and nodded in agreement with the Dude. "Yeah, your right." After finishing her salad she stood up, looking at the two. "Well, I need to go get some sun. I'll catch you guys later, okay?" Giving an extra glance to the Dude just to make sure he was alright, she bussed her tray and gave her goodbyes before heading out.

After lunch in the cafeteria, Amaya had forced herself to venture into the entertainment room and quickly snatch all the 'large reptile' and 'lizard' books she could find.
As she got back to her duplex she placed the books on her desk among all the other random junk that had collected there. She wouldn't look at them tonight, just in case she found out something horrible and ended up having to sleep on it. That never turned out too well.
She decided to shower and dress lazily before basking a little and then heading to bed for the night since it was starting to get a little dark out. The second she climbed into bed, something occurred to her.
Ambrose!
He was probably worried about Mister Dude and she hadn't even thought to go tell him that he was all right, save for a little amnesia. After throwing on a pair of pajama pants with her baggy white t-shirt and rainbow socks (now modified so each toe had it's own hole, like... foot gloves), she headed out of her duplex and ran down towards number 1...

Only Changed On The Outside(Amaya encounters Ambrose after he's reached 50%)Amaya Vaughan Amaya slowed to a stop after having run the entire way to Ambrose's duplex. Why had she ran? She had no idea. But after standing outside his door to catch her breath, she knocked with a scaley hand.
"Ambrose? Hey, it's Amaya." She spoke through the door, wondering absently if he had already gone to bed. Emelyn Emelyn didn't know the girl's name- she'd never been officially introduced, but she'd seen her at the Halloween party, and when The Dude had been... incapacitated. She was surprised, however, to see her at Ambrose's door. "Oh..." she said, pausing several steps from the duplex door, "I didn't mean to interrupt anything. I was just..." her voice trailed off. She'd actually come to talk to Ambrose- and to either apologize for her assumptions, or to cement them. But she wasn't going to tell that to someone she didn't know. "I just came to talk to Ambrose," she finished, the pause noticeable. Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose had been asleep - he realized after the fact as the sound of the door woke him with a jolt. He blinked around, hearing the repeating knock and the muffled sounds of womens' voices. With a furrow of his brow he realized afer his consciousness came back to him, just how well he could hear the voices on the other side of the door. Emelyn and Amaya. He swallowed. Not just one person to face, but two. He shook his head quickly, getting to his still-sore feet. He wouldn't hide. Greer hadn't hid, even Cassidy Hargun hadn't hid. Nd to be perfectly honest.... Ambrose really wanted the company. He didn't want to be alone, despite his freakish appearance. "I"m coming" he called back weakly, finally making it to the door and opening it with bated breath. He was dressed in boxer shorts, and not much more. Unless one counted the thick pelt of fur that now covered him. His long tail was tucked between his legs, his lupine ears nervously folded back against his head. "H....hi, guys.." He swallowed. "I'm happy to see you two..." Amaya Vaughan Amaya jumped slightly, having not even noticed the woman until she spoke up. "Oh! Uhm, me too... My names Amaya by the way, Mister Dude told me your name is Emelyn?" She more asked then anything, wondering if her description had been good enough for him to peg who she had been talking about right on the dot. "I just have to tell him something real quick though, I won't be long." Even though she had been largly freaked out the previous night, it didn't take a genious to see that something was going on between her and Ambrose. She would tell him the Dude was alright and then jet, leaving the two lovebirds alone.
Her eyes went wide as she saw Ambrose... or... it sounded like Ambrose answer the door. She could feel her heart drop to her feet as her mouth opened to say something but nothing came out. Amaya started to tear up as she shook her head in bewhilderment and stepped forward without a word, wrapping her arms around him and hugging tightly. Right now, no words could express how sorry she felt for him... Her face burried into the pelt that covered his body, tears wetting the fur as she wept silently. Emelyn Emelyn hadn't the chance to answer Amaya before Ambrose appeared, and so her tongue was held as the man came into sight... and Emelyn realized- he wasn't entirely a man any longer. ...He'd been changed. Oh, had he been changed. His entire visage had been nearly swallowed by the beast, his fur radiating up every inch of his body, covering it with more than just a downy coat of grey and yellowed fur. She didn't have a first reaction to the change- if anything, all of her thoughts were fused together in the flash-fire of shock- burnt into an unrecognizable lump of thoughts and ideas and reactions. One thing that came out clear as day... was that he barely appeared human any more. Even as he spoke those human, crystal-clear words, his animal nature was belied by rows of pointed teeth. The first thing she did was to put a hand on Amaya's shoulder, as if to draw her back from the furious embrace. Something about the outburst frightened Emelyn- she didn't want Ambrose to feel like they were mourning his passing. She paused, her hand still anchored on the girl's shoulder, and found her voice, drawing it forth from its silence. "I'm glad to see you, too." Was all she said, emphasizing the 'you'... as if to let him know... I still see you. Ambrose Maurlias A whine escaped Ambrose as Amaya clung to him, sobbing into his fur. He hugged her fiercely, happy for the contact although her tears were regretfully contagious. He felt his own eyes become misty. She was scared, and rightfully so - he was scared. "I'm sorry, Amaya... Dear God I'm sorry.... I wish this hadn't happened." He smoothed her dark hair back with his furred hand. He looked up to Emelyn as he held her, not sure who was doing more of the comforting. "Th... thank you, Emelyn." He whispered. He had been so scared to see her again - between their parting, and worried that she would be scared of him - that he would have a hard time still seeing him as a man. "It... it just happened.... today." He was trying to put forth a brave front before two of his closest friends here - show that he had courage. But something about the hollowness of the last phrase betrayed the shock that he was still suffering. "Please... come inside...?" Amaya Vaughan Even though she felt Emelyn's hand on her shoulder, she didn't let go of Ambrose until she heard the word 'sorry' pass his short muzzle. "Don't be s-sorry. It's not your f-fault." She sniffled and rubbed her eyes with her palms before slowly walking inside of his room, shaking her head as she tried to stop herself from sobbing.
Why did she always have to cry? It made things worse and showed how weak and frightened she was. She wished she could have just done what she wanted to do instead of what her mind automatically decided. Walk up and say hi, act like nothing was wrong, but... she was scared. Very scared. Emelyn Emelyn followed the instruction to come in, and, seeing the tears in Amayas eyes, put her hand on her shoulder again- this time comfortingly. The words that sprang to mind were "It's okay"... but held them back. Obviously, everything wasn't okay. If anything... nothing was okay. "I'm so sorry, Ambrose," she said. She was torn between wanting to comfort him, and wanting to let him know that she didn't feel any differently about him. It was a very... hard medium to accomplish, and it left her torn. Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose took a shaking breath and nodded, letting them in and then closing the door softly behind them as he padded after them to take his seat back on the edge of the bed. "I know, Amaya... only one person is really to blame." He responded, dejection in his voice. "I... I knew this had to happen. I Just....." He shook his head. "As Emelyn knows, I was trying my damndest to pretend it wasn't going to." He looked to Emelyn as he spoke, wrapping his arms around his knees as he drew them to his chest. Knowing it was futile to hide the animal parts... there was no part of him that wasn't 'tainted' by the serum. "Thanks, Emelyn...." he looked back to her. "I..." he shook his head again, staring at a blank spot on the wall "I don't look anything like myself any longer..." he winced. Amaya Vaughan Amaya dried her eyes and nodded, glad for the comforting but also ashamed she was crying in the first place.
Eventually she forced herself to calm down enough so she could talk without having to gasp between sobs. The tears began to dry up on her cheeks, only a few slipping from time to time. "You still look like you to me... your eyes look the same." Even though her face was grave, her green eyes still met with his. Amaya had always believed that looking into a person's eyes revealed most of their soul and today was no different. He might have looked like a wolf on the outside, but Ambrose was still inside. Emelyn Emelyn nodded, and found that her words had been taken by Amaya- and also, her tears. For as much weeping as the girl was able to do, tears running in her eyes and down her cheeks, Emelyn couldn't manage to get any of the sorrow and fear she had for this man come to light. ...But she felt it all. Deeply, and she went to Ambrose where he sat at the edge of the bed, wrapped to himself as if to press his knees through to his back, and she looked down in the eyes that Amaya had so thoughtfully mentioned. "It is you..." she said, a whisper, and then... they came. The tears that had hidden themselves from her made themselves known in a silent torrent, and she reached forward and ran her fingers through the blonde hair atop his head. "What's happening to us is... terrible," she said, and her knees practically buckled as she sank next to him on the bed. "Oh Ambrose," she said, facing him, and then dropping her head and the weight of her thoughts onto his shoulder. One hand hung limply at her side, and the other she placed on his knee. Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose looked to them, their sincerity and support really touching him. His eyes and attention were pulled back from their hollow stare at the wall to look between the two of them. "Thank you, Amaya..." Despite her young age, Amaya repeatedly impressed him wiht her insight and maturity. "I... I was so frightened." He admitted quietly. "I was hoping, I guess, that it would take longer to take my ... human face away." His ears crumpled back. "What's going to happen to us...." he added with a whisper. He leaned towards Emelyn as she approached. "It... it really does help... knowing that there are at least people like you who are here...." He gave a weak smile. "I just wish that I don't have to see these same things happen to the others here..." He couldn't bring himself to say them specifically, but the implications were there. "But... I mean.... I guess part of the most frightening thing is that this really means that I can never go home again...." He gave a small smile that had little happiness actually behind it. Amaya Vaughan Amaya didn't know what to say. Her eyes left his once more to look at the carpet, tears falling from her eyes and sliding down her cheeks. For the most part she stayed silent, only speaking in a shakey voice when her brain could think of a logical sentence and her throat wouldn't lock up.
She licked her dry lips with her tounge and immediantly regretted it. Even in that short time her tounge was exposed, so much sadness, dispair and anguish touched her taste buds. Amaya's neck lurched slightly and her hand rose to cover her mouth. All the negative emotions in the room was enough to make her sick to her stomach.
After regaining her composure, she spoke up again. "At least... we can be scared together..." She wasn't sure if Ambrose or Greer or anyone else had said that to her before, but she could recall it being said and it brought a strange comfort to her. Emelyn Emelyn nodded over to Amaya... and regretted that what she was going to say next couldn't be said allowed. She put her fingers to her lips in a quick motion, and shot her eyes at Amaya.. then at the intercom, as if to say- I can't say this louder than a whisper. Then she leaned in, as if to give Ambrose a hearty embrace... but whispered in his ear... "We can find a way out. Moreau still thinks I'm on his side. We can find some way to either stop the treatments, or to at least bear them out until the end... and then get him.. out of power," she said, less of a whisper than an echoing breath that took the shape of speech. "And even if we can't go back to the mainland... we can make this home. Free from opression." Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose's heart swelled with Amaya's comforting, and he nodded. "That, that is very true, Amaya. At least we have eachother... we can still do fencing... talk to eachother. And yes, we can be here for eachother." He gave Amaya's hand a squeeze. He blinked in surprise as Emelyn leaned forward. His sensitive ears heard her quiet whisper without any difficulty. He swallowed and nodded, and ever so quietly, as they were parting. "Thank you, Emelyn... I don't think it's safe to escape before they're finished with us... as much as I despise to face that. But if we could do the latter..." his eyes hardened.... "Or... at the very least... yes, we can make this Island our home." He squeezed her and parted the hug. He looked over his two friends, and he felt so much better... as scared as he had been to be seen like that... it was more than made up for by the support. Little did Ambrose realize, the packing instincts that had started to bud in him after his second injection was blossoming. Amaya Vaughan Amaya blinked at Emelyn and gave the room a once over, her eyes being the only thing that moved. She had a good idea what Emelyn was doing, so she played along and acted like it had just been a normal hug. The frown had never left her face, her eyes being the only thing that changed for a few moments.
As Ambrose squeezed her hand, she squeezed his back. The feeling of the pads on his hands was definatly weird, but not enough to make her cringe or back off in any way. It just proved to her that he definatly needed both of their comfort right now...
"I'd like to make this place home... it's already given me more of a family then I've had in a long while." Emelyn Emelyn nodded at his response. She understood that he doubted the ability to escape- and she knew that some of that may be her fault. She'd been such the... bringer of reality, striking not only Ambrose with what her 'reality dose' but also The Dude... Greer... Awen, and even Jamal. So now, she understood if it was difficult for others to truly believe that her mind had harbored thoughts of escape. The hope of leaving. ...All in time, I think they'll understand how serious I am, she thought, giving Ambrose a sort of parting smile as they pulled apart, and turning to Amaya with a thankful nod, understanding that the girl had picked up the hint. "It's a home for me too, Amaya," she said... less out of believing it, than for Moreau's sake. He was doubtlessly taping this... or perhaps even watching it. So she acted for the benefit of his extensive library of labrats. "I think it can be a home for all of us." Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose nodded. He really did value these new friends... and in some cases, a surrogate family. Nothing would ever make him forget the life he had before... he refused to. But... maybe he could find happiness here as well. A different life. It seemed unlikely that one could find such happiness as a prisoner, becoming an animal. But... at least he had friends? He sighed, with a small smile. "You're a great little sister, Amaya." Ambrose ruffled her hair. "If you'll still have me." To Emelyn he nodded slowly. "I... should probably mention... Thanks again... for the night we spoke the other night. I think that if you hadn't given me the reality check then, then this would have been so much more difficult than it is now." He scratched at some of the new fur on his arm. Amaya Vaughan She managed a small smile and nodded. In some way she hated admitting that, but in another way she didn't. Amaya guessed that it was because she was admitting that Moreau could have done some good in choosing her and the others to bring here... forming a sort of dysfuctional family within his prison of sandy beaches and ocean views. But she was greatful that he had chosen her over any of the other few teenage orphans back at the orphanage... she didn't want anyone else being pulled into Moreau's sea of lies and would rather it be her then anyone else. Amaya had nothing to go back to, but Ambrose... and Hargun... they did.
"Of course, I'm nothing without my big brother and fencing instructor." Amaya gave a genuine smile, her eyes meeting his once more. Even though they were now flecked with yellow, they were still the same. Emelyn The praise Ambrose gave her struck home... and she felt guilty for her words. She'd been trying so hard to accustom him to life on the island, to accept what had been dealt and to live a full life here... and now she was trying to rattle that faith with her own thoughts of escape. She swallowed a lump that was forming in her throat, enough to pass through a handful of guilty words. "Any time," she said, before turning away from this man who seemed to be the midst of such a turmoil in her mind right now. "Amaya..." she said, rubbing her throat as if to free the sore lump that still resided there, despite the shameful swallowing, "I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you, earlier. You seem to be... a wonderful person." Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose beamed at Amaya, the change almost slipping his mind for just the moment and forgetting to try to keep his teeth from showing. "I'm glad, Amaya. Really. Thank you." The long tail behind him started to move slowly from side to side - the muscles still new and sore, but responding to the glimmer of hope once again planted in his chest. No matter what he looked like... he still had friends like this. Leaning forward he put an arm around each of them and pulled them gently closer. "Thanks." He whispered again. "For everything." Amaya Vaughan "Thanks, but I'm no more different then anyone else here." Amaya smiled at Emelyn and blushed slightly from the compliment.
She reached up to give Ambrose a quick hug around his furry neck. "No prob." The fear and sadness seemed to have melted away from her, replaced with her will to keep people happy no matter the circumstances. The only thing that showed she had even cried at all were the puffy redness of her eyes and the tear stains down her cheeks. Emelyn "May I ask you a question, Ambrose?" She hoped he'd say yes... because she barrelled forward, anyway. "Are any of your senses heightened?" She stopped herself, and rubbed back the quills from her forehead in an anxious motion. "What am I saying, of course they are. But... how heightened?" Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose shrugged to Amaya. "Well. I think you are - in a good way of course. As much as I feel horrible for saying it... at least we're surrounded by some good people.... I mean, don't get me wrong - no one deserves this, and I wish that he'd stop bringing innocents here on one hand... on the other, I've made some of the closest friends I've ever had here, especially considering that I haven't been here very long. Maybe I didn't get out much back home..." He shrugged self-consciously "But it's true." Turning to Emelyn, Ambrose looked a bit surprised by the question, but not offended. "I... well, yes... actually. I mean, I've barely had time to even properly come to terms with it myself... I could hear the two of you speaking outside the door before I opened it..." He paused, and his ears visually perked, turning towards the window for a moment, and then swiveling to the door. "I can hear jungle animals... A few people walking around..." Ambrose shaked his head. "It's so strange..." He said quietly. "And...." He lifted his nose, sniffing a bit "Dear Lord I can smell the cafeteria now that I think about it.... Mmm... that smells good." Ambrose was suddenly reminded that he hadn't eaten that day between the change and then dealing with it. His stomach audibly growled. Amaya Vaughan Amaya blinked in surprise at Emelyn's sudden question. She had been wondering too, but figured it was best to keep the subject of his transformation in case Ambrose was sensitive about it.
Thankfully, he didn't seem to be. It was really weird to watch his ears swivel about and she suddenly had to weirdest urge to yank them and tweek them... but no, she couldn't. That would be too insulting. Instead, she opted for sitting in silence as she listened and watched. Emelyn "I'm sorry to blurt it out like that," Emelyn said, "...unfortunately there's not a... Miss Manners Manual for something like this." She shoved the limp quills out of view of her eyes- annoyed with herself. She'd been saying only the wrong things for a good long time. "I think curiousity just wanted to... take over all the other emotions. Curiousity doesn't require as much thinking." She decided to just be honest, and voice that aloud. If it left her vulnerable- ah well. At least they'd understand that she hadn't meant to be callous. "I'm hungry, too," she said, but paused, not wanting to suggest that they go to the cafeteria if he wasn't ready. Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose nodded. "I understand. I'd actually rather that you get questions off your chest, to be honest. I spoke with Cassidy about that after my first change. I think it's better than having awkward questions that you want to ask but are worried that you'll offend.... you know... get them out of the way so that they don't get between you and being comfortable around the other person..?" He gesticulated, realizing he probably wasn't making much sense. "I... I know it's going to hit me again sometime... but for now... I ... I think I'm doing alright thanks to you guys." He smiled. "It's hard to really sink in all at once. Maybe it's better that way. I'm not sure. But regardless, food sounds fantastic. I think I can make it outside. Well... once I put on some more clothes, at least." He gestured to his mostly undressed form as he whet his lips, realizing that he had been sitting there in his skivvies in front of two nice young women for the past thirty minutes or so. Amaya Vaughan "Well..." Amaya stood up and stretched before turning back around to face the two. "I'll let you two go ahead and eat. I should be heading off to bed anyway." As if on command, a long yawn escaped her lips. "By the way, I came over to tell you that Mister Dude is alright... at first he just had a little amnesia, but after I told him all that happened he seemed to remember." She had almost completely forgotten about the reason she had come to Ambrose's duplex in the first place. Emelyn "Oh God, I'm so glad he's alright," Em said- putting her fingers up to her lips in automatic horror that she'd forgotten completely about The Dude. With the circumstances, it was almost understandable... but she was once again appalled with herself, regardless. "I was so worried about him last night. ...Are you sure you don't want to join us for some food, Amaya?" Ambrose Maurlias Ambrose felt bad - he had almost forgotten completely about the Dude, and all at once the memory of what had happened the night before surged back in his mind and put things into an even starker perspective. "Oh, geez, that's right! Thank you Amaya - I was worried about him. I'm really glad to hear that he's alright." He stood up as well, giving her a final quick hug. "Thanks for letting me know - and for helping out so much last night. You have a good night's sleep." Ambrose wasn't tired in the least. Ambrose smiled to Emelyn and blushed. "Just wait here one moment, I'll go get something more decent on." Avoiding the mirror in the bathroom, Ambrose pulled out one of his standard t-shirts and pants, and slipped them on over the boxers... only realizing as he had nearly pulled the pants all the way up that he had a new apendage to deal with that wasn't going to be surreptously hidden in his pants. With a frustrated snarl, Ambrose grabbed a pair of scissors from the dresser drawer and made some hasty adjustments before dusting his hands off on his pants and giving a weak smile. "Ready. I think." Amaya Vaughan "No, it's alright. I ate earlier after Dude woke up. Thanks, though." Amaya smiled but waved her offer off, knowing full well if she stayed up much later she would end up falling asleep in her salad. Most of her day had been spent inside and she hadn't even basked yet. It was gradually taking a toll on her body. Idly she wondered if being cold-blooded would get any worse then it was now.
After returning Ambrose's hug, she waved to them both and headed for the door. "You too, Ambrose. And it was nice to finally get to met you Emelyn." Smiling, she headed out of his duplex and went to her own for some much needed sleep.

Meeting With IanAmaya Vaughan Amaya sat on an old tree stump in the jungle, the rays of the sun beaming down through the leaves and onto her scales to make them glint. Beside her sat a small stack of different books that had to do with different lizard species. She had been looking at these almost all day and was quickly getting nowhere. Letting out a frustrated sigh, she closed the book in her lap and let her head hang. The red locks blocking her view since the dye had still yet to wash out completely. Ian Campbell Ian wandered the forest as had become his wont. As he wandered he let the cool sounds of the jungle envelope him, their sweet song creating a blanket of soothing feelings. He hadn't felt this calm since before he had last seen Emerwyn almost two weeks before. After that he had decided not to attend the halloween party and instead held his own small Samhain celebration in the trees. He hadn't been to his duplex in almost a week. Ian had preferred the calm natural element of nature to calm his nerves. He walked through the jungle in quiet reflection his bare feet (for he had left his boots at his duplex) making almost no noise on the ground. He wasn't looking where hewas going and therefore didn't notice Amaya as he wandered. Amaya Vaughan Hearing someone approaching, Amaya snapped out of her small little bubble of self-loathing to look up and around. Spotting Ian a few paces away she gave a small smile, having not seen him in quiet some time. "Hey Ian." Her voice was quiet and sounded as if it was weighed down with even more worries then she had previously had. Ian Campbell Ian almost didn't hear Amaya so intent was he on his own problems. But he was lucky he did hear her else he would have just walked past without seeing her. "Amaya?" he asked moving to near where she was sitting and taking a brief glance at the books. He wasn't going to burden her with his problems like he had in the past, not this time. He hadn't seen her in awhile even though she lived upstairs from him, but that was because he had spent too much time moping. He needed to get out more and grab life by the horns (pardoning the pun between that common saying and his own predicament). "Are you alright?" Amaya Vaughan "Yeah, I'm okay." Amaya forced a tiny smile and placed the book that was in her long fingers to the side. She had been the one crying when the Dude had been put to sleep AND when Ambrose had changed. She was always the one who needed comforting and wasn't going to make Ian do that as well. Like Ambrose had said: they needed to be brave for eachother. "How about you? I haven't seen you in awhile." Tired green eyes looked up at him and she moved over on the large stump to give him room if he wanted to sit down. Ian Campbell Ian gave a small smile back to Amaya and for the first time noticed how truly dirty he was. After living in the jungle for days he hadn't showered and was covered in all sorts of murk and grime. He fidgeted not wanting to get Amaya dirty and have her think he smelled, but he didn't want to be rude as to her invitation to sit. He sniffed experimentally, he did smell really bad, but he wondered why Amaya did nothing. "I'm alright," Ian responded still standing uncomfortably. "I've been living in the forest a few days. Has anything happened over the past ten days? That's how long it has been since I've seen someone?" Ian was completely ignorant of anymore changes or what had happened at the halloween party. Amaya Vaughan Amaya could smell Ian, but compared to living in Pennsylvania around cow manure your entire life, it didn't bother her. She was thankful her sense of smell didn't seem to advance any farther... yet at least. "Jeeze, 10 days?" Green eyes looked surprised as she rested her chin on her hands as she sat. "Actually yeah... a lot has happened." A frown played her features and she looked down, wondering if she could sum it all up for him. "Hargun changed again and so did Ambrose. Mister Dude also punched Moreau at the Halloween party." Ian Campbell "Both Hargun and Ambrose!" Ian's eyebrows rose. "Wow," he murmered more to himself than to Amaya. "And Dude punched Moreau...good for him...I think." Ian wasn't normally a very voilant person, but when he though of Emerwyn, a burning hatred for the orange-haired man flared inside of him. "Not quite ten days, closer to a week." Somehow it made him feel better to think he only had seven days of grime rather than ten. "I haven't seen anybody in ten days. And I also think I am glad I missed the party. A quiet Samhain celebration suits me better." Amaya Vaughan "Yeah, but afterwards the doctor put Dude to sleep with just a word. All he said was 'Subject Carroll Sleep' and Dude just... fell unconscience." Amaya frowned and looked down, her expression grave.
"Samhain celebration?" A brow rose and she looked back up at Ian. Ian Campbell Ian's eyes widened. A single phrase and Moreau was able to knock people unconscious. He shivered involuntarily rubbing his hands along his arms. "That......" he halted mid phrase, he had no clue what to say. "Um, about Samhain then....it is a Pagan celebration that occurs over Halloween. Literally translated the word means 'end of the warm season' though I doubt that applies given that this is a tropical island." He gave a small laugh still troubled by the information about the Dude. "I happen to celebrate those events and pray to the god Cernunnos." Amaya Vaughan "Ohhh, that's pretty neat." Amaya decided to go along with it to try and get off the more depressing subjects. "I'm not really religious myself, I just like Halloween for the candy and costumes and pranks. Something to have fun with, y'know?" She gave a tiny smile and shrug. "Though I guess you could say I'm kind of a Christian. I mainly just believe for the sake of my family. I want to believe they're having a good time in some heaven somewhere." Ian Campbell Ian remembered when he was a lot younger how he had only enjoyed hallowe'en for the candy and being able to dress up. "My family are Christians. I never held their beliefs against them." He wondered if James even knew he was still alive, wondering if it was better were he thought of as dead. "They were open-minded though. Some Christians would hold me being pagan against me." He closed his eyes and relaxed. Talking about stuff he knew about was very relaxing. Amaya Vaughan "My family wasn't as accepting. Even though I followed their teachings when I was little since I didn't quiet understand all of it, later on when I drifted farther away from Christianity, my grandmother gave me a lot of guilt trips." Amaya frowned, drawing her legs up so she could hug them to her chest. "She said something like 'what would your parents think' and that hit me pretty hard... so I've been trying to keep believing just for their sake." Ian Campbell Ian mentally smacked himself. Why did he always end up making people sad? It must be a curse....How could he make her feel better...... his tail twitched and he looked backwards frowning, having had forgotten that it was there. "People really need to be more accepting. It can be really damaging to people when they aren't." He said after a long silence. This he knew from his own childhood and the bullies he had faced. Amaya Vaughan "Yeah..." Amaya gave a small smile and looked back up at him, trying to think of something else to talk about... Oh! How could she have forgotten?
"Have you seen Emerwyn recently? Last time I saw her she looked really sick. She said that she went to the doctor but Moreau had said that her sickness was something she just THOUGHT she had." She frowned, angry. "How is that possible? I bet he's taking joy in her being so sick..." Ian Campbell Ian winced. Off all the things Amaya could have brough up, it had to be Emerwyn. "She was fine last I saw her," he said evasively. "We had tea together. She was still coughing though. Next time I see Moreau I'll..." he left the threat hanging and clenched his hand in a fist so tight that his knuckles cracked. It was obvious that there was stuff Ian wasn't saying about what had happened with Emerwyn, but Ian was oblivious to that fact. Amaya Vaughan Amaya watched him, seeing nothing out of the ordinary. She was angry too. "That's good... at least she's doing a little better." She let it at that, not knowing what else to say. Ian Campbell Ian nodded "I'm glad as well." His stomach growled, reminding him of his sporadic eating habits over the past week. He plucked a leaf from a nearby bush and began to chew on it slowly, staring at the dirt caked in his fur. "I really ought to get home and shower," he muttered not noticing that he had referred to the duplex as his home. Amaya Vaughan Amaya couldn't help but laugh a little as he realized how dirt caked he was. "Yeah, that would probably be good." She didn't mean for it to sound rude, more like jokingly. Standing, she gathered up her books. "Well, I should be heading back for some lunch. You wanna come along?" Ian Campbell Ian shrugged. "I can walk you to the cafeteria for your lunch. I can eat grass, since my priority is showering before going anywhere where I can potentially meet someone." He didn't like to admit it, but he was a tad vain and didn't want to be seen as dirty as he was. He smiled wearily. "Shall we go?" Amaya Vaughan "Sure." Amaya smiled and began walking back to the cafeteria with Ian, most of it being in silence since she couldn't think of much to say besides the usual "it's beautiful out here" and "the weather is really nice". As she got to her destination, she turned and gave a thankful nod to Ian. "Thanks. Take care, okay? I'll see you around." With one last smile she headed into the cafeteria for some lunch.

A Chat With A Movie Star(Amaya mets up with Vasile on the beach)Quote: Amaya sat on a rather large piece of drift wood that had washed up onto the beach probably ages ago. She wore little... or it was little in her eyes. Whenever she went out to bask she felt better when her scales actually got hit by the sun's rays instead of through cloth or fabric. Gradually she was getting more comfortable about being so exposed as well, which was strange considering how she looked. With just a black tank with her long, green skirt she swung her legs so her long toes could drag through the sand to make small race-track lines. For the most part she had drifted into her own little world, void of thought. Something she often did when she was without her blairing headphones. Quote: Vasile, getting more and more comfortable with his 25% form everyday, had continued his daily strict regiment of excercise. He found working out - a lot - not only made him feel more in control of his body, but it was good for him and helped him pass the time. Becuase he would quickly admit he was bored in general. The mixer was fun, but still didn't manage to get anywhere fast with Cass. Unless you count "not hating him more" progress. He went running down the beach, thinking to himself. He was wearing nothing but a pair of shorts and his sunglasses. The first day he wore a shirt and sweatpants to attempt to hide his now nearly-completely furred back, but learned that fur trapped under a shirt while you're sweating like a pig did nothing but make you hot and chafe. Of course, he was still rather unfortably furry now under his shorts, but he wasn't about to go running in the nude. Not looking like this at least. He slowed down after a long sprint, cooling down as he slowed his run to a job, letting himself splash through the water on the beach, feeling the cool seawater on his legs. As he slowed to a walk, he noticed someone laying on a peice of driftwood up the beach a bit. Hoping it was Cass (he found her reading on the beach once), he approached. He was shiney with sweat, and his now much longer hair was pulled into a ponytail that now had little frizz-bits sticking out. If he knew, he's be freaking out. He was a bit dissapointed as he approached to see it wasn't Cass, but no need to be rude. He stepped up, waving. "Hello.. Amaya, was it?" Quote: "Hn?" Amaya blinked and looked up from her dazed stare into the sand to see Vasile. "Oh, yeah. Hey Vasile." She returned the wave with her own and a smile. He must have changed either recently... or awhile ago, she wouldn't know. Last time she had seen him was when she pretty much first arrived. He actually didn't look too bad. The long, wavey hair was definatly an improvment in her oppinion. "How've you been doing?" The thought of hiding her disgusting, elongated toes or fingers escaped her at the moment, now being so used to them she didn't even bother anymore. Quote: Vasile didn't mean to stare, but he couldn't help but look her over. What was it with this island and scaley chicks? He wondered if Karma had changed yet, and what to. He needed to look her up sometime. But back in the present, he swallowed and tried to drag his eyes back up to hers. "Me? Oh, uhm... well, fine, I guess... considering." He motioned helplessly to his transformation. "I feel... a bit foolish and like I owe everyone here a big apology. I probably looked like the biggest a**. I'm still hoping a camera crew is going to burst out of the jungle at some point." Quote: Amaya didn't seem to mind, or even notice his staring. "It's alright, it's not like it was your fault. Any sane person would have believed what you were told." She shrugged her bare, scale-covered shoulders a bit. Most of her torso seemed untouched by the transformation, though down her spine was a mass of the same scales that covered her arms and legs. "Though I think everyone would be happy to just see a camera crew leap out of nowhere. I sure wouldn't mind." She smiled slightly and moved over on the piece of driftwood to offer Vasile a seat if he wanted it. "And you really don't look that bad at all. Did your hair grow during the...?" Her sentence stopped there, the words 'change' and 'transformation' now being her least favorite to say. Quote: Vasile smiled and took the seat. "Thanks for saying that," he said. "Most people got rather agitated at me for beleiving so ... vehemently that this was some movie camp. But I mean... come on! They gave me a SCRIPT!" He sighed and shook his hea.d He swallowed uncomforably at her comments about him not looking so bad. In truth, he had to agree with her. And he was beginning to feel guilty for people not so.. lucky. Snakes and scaley-things... a fox or wolf or whatever it was he was turning into really didn't too bad in comparison. "Thanks.." he said, forcing a smile. At the mention of his hair, he reached up and pulled it out the ponytail. It fell just below his shoulders, and faded to a stark-white at the roots. "You know, this is weird. No one else has had thier human hair grow like this. At least no one I or Ambrose have seen. I mean..what animals have... hair? Like.. human hair?" Quote: She nodded, having been told about Vasile's cover-story by Ambrose when she first arrived. "I dunno, but your growing a lot more hair everywhere else... maybe it just kind of grew along with it? From what I can tell everyone seems to be keeping their human hair, even Cassidy when she doesn't have hair anywhere else." Amaya then gave a small laugh. "And to be honest I think you look better with longer hair." Quote: Vasile shrugged. "Maybe. Gawd, I hope I'm not turning into a maltese or something." Wow. That would make sense. And that scared him. Hair turning white and silky... with silver fur. His blood ran cold for a second but then he shrugged it off for now and smiled back at Amaya. "Really?" Quote: Amaya laughed slightly. "Yeah and... isn't a maltese some kind of dog or something?" She wasn't sure herself, but the name range a vauge bell. Quote: "Yeah... a little silky white tiny little lap dog. Like Brutus... but more girly looking and long-furred." Oh no, this was Moreau's way of making fun of his dog, he knew. THe b*****d. Vasile looked like he was distinctly pouting, now. Quote: "Hmmm..." Amaya looked up in thought, the picture of a maltese coming to her. "Oh! Those dogs... well, that wouldn't be TOO bad..." She trailed off and looked back up at him, her long toes wiggling in the sand. "Lookit it this way, it could always be worse. He could have turned you into a worm or... slug... or something gross." Quote: Vasile winced a bit. Being told this from a lizard or snake or.. something person. "Yeah, you're right. I"m sorry.. I shouldn't be complaining.." He looked back over her scales.. "Do you know.. what.." he trailed off, looking at her fingers. Quote: "No, no. Everyone here has the right to complain." She shook her head at his appology, then followed his gaze to her hands and held them out to look at them. For once they weren't in her ever-present gloves, making them look even longer now that nothing was covering them. "Some kinda lizard, I know that much." Amaya put each finger down at once and then flexed them before setting them back in her lap and raising her toes so he could see. "I still have my feet, and their even weirder then before so... it's not a snake. That and my tounge isn't forked like Cassidy's." Her toes curled one by one much like her fingers, though they didn't have as many joints and it took more concentration to move them one by one. Quote: Vasile smiled at her, impressed at her... attitute. He wouldn't call it optimism, but she didn't seem embarassed or sorry for herself. Such a change from Cass. He wished he could someone get her to accept things better. I guess a lizard was still better than a snake - at least she wouldn't lose her legs. "How did you get here?" he asked, curious Quote: After dropping her feet back into the sand she shrugged. "I was told that this place was kind of a refuge or something for orphaned teenagers. It was either stay at the orphanage or come here. I chose the latter since the thought of living my life alone wasn't very appealing." Quote: Vasile seemed to pale. Wow. Okay, so he wasn't really expecting that, Talk about heavy conversation. Not really knowing what to say, he just nodded. "Oh... uhm, I'm sorry..." Quote: "It's okay. In a strange, twisted way I'm glad I came here. I've kind of developed a weird, dysfuctional family and that's kinda what I was aiming for by coming here in the first place... Granted I thought that all their would be only people around my age, but it was still a nice little thought." Amaya smiled slightly, not wanting to make Vasile pitty her or feel sorry for her in any way. Others had lived much, much harder lives then her and she had no place in saying her life was living Hell... because it wasn't. Even here on the island where she was gradually being turned into some lizard-girl and her mood was still up. After her parents death she had gone through a depression despite how young she was and that was something she told herself would never happen again. Quote: "Wow," Vasile said simply. "Thats quite... an outlook you have." He looked over the ocean. "But you know, I kind of understand what you mean. I mean, I didn't come here looking for anything but a job. But since I'm here I've really been forced to do a lot of thinking. I know I'm going to sound very Hollywood here, but I never.. did that before. I didn't have to deal with things. There was always somewhere else there to do that. Now... I'm forced to have to deal with my own problems. I feel... so lost. I don't know who I even... am. But I guess, in a way, thats good." He looked back over at her, his hair flying back in his face a bit. "Not the being lost part," he said as he batted it away, "but the reality check, I suppose." Quote: Amaya nodded to him as she listened in silence. She didn't believe most of the stuff about actors she read in magazines and stuff, but some she did know actually happened. "Ironically enough, I try to do less thinking... though I've always done that ever since my parents died. People might not know it, but I have a very... dark mind. When I start thinking, it's always about the very worst possible thing. That's why I've been trying to help other people think instead of myself. Help them deal with what's going on and cheer them up if I can..." She trailed off and realized she was dumping her thoughts on someone she barely knew. "But anyway, were you in showbiz your entire life?" Quote: Vasile looked surprised at her. The cute little teen didn't look like someone who could think very dark thoughts. Not in light of the other things she was saying. "I'm sorry about your parents," he mumbled out. He was curious, but he figured asking how they died might come off pretty rude. "Uhm, yeah," he stuttered out, a bit surprised by the suddent change of subject. "Been modeling ever since I was a kid. My acting career looked like it was just about to take off, too." He let some of the bitterness slip back into his voice. Quote: Instead of normally saying something like 'its okay' or 'dont worry about it', she just nodded to him slightly. Even though she was very open to talking about the death of her parents, it still caused her sleepless nights and nightmares that always resulted in tears.
"Wow, that's kinda cool." Amaya blinked and looked up at him, resting her chin in her palms. "So you grew up in the city, I take it?" Quote: "Yeah." He said, leaning back on a branch of the driftwood. "Looking back on it, I really didn't have much of a childhood. I was tutored privately, but most of what I remember was booking shoots." Quote: Amaya's eyes widdened and she sat up straight. "Really? That musta been... horrible. I couldn't imagine never having a childhood. I grew up in the boonies, so I was basically the opposite. Was an only child too, so I kind of took the role of the son and daughter. Helped my dad chop wood and hunt and then turned around and helped my mom make dinner and clean the house... Did you have any siblings?" Quote: "Wow, that sounds... interesting" That was Vasile's way of saying "old fashioned." She would probably laugh if she knew how many times Vasile had ever made his own dinner and washed clothes or clean the house. And he knew he had never done anything like chop wood or hunt. "Siblings? Yeah, I have a younger brother. He'd be fourteen this year." Quote: "And he's not in showbiz?" Amaya asked, genuinly interested. Quote: Vasile let a frown tug at his mouth. "My parents did their best to keep him out of it, but he always wanted to. Right before I let he landed himself a guest appearance on a few WB shows. He was... thrilled." Quote: She blinked, not really knowing what to say. In a way, she felt bad for Vasile. He had never had an easy life... well, easy when it came to 'having fun' and 'being yourself'. All the actors these days seemed like they were brought up on what their parents wanted them to be, something she despised greatly. "Call me out-dated, but fourteen and acting just seems so... young. I dunno." Amaya shrugged, not really knowing how to word it. "I mean, that's even younger then I am but I could never even imagine myself wanting to be in any kind of show bussiness... though of course this is coming from a girl who's first sentence was 'look, it a bunny' and grew up in the sticks her whole life." A laugh escaped her lips at the thought of her even living in a city. Quote: "My parents didn't want him involved... I think because they were afraid that we'd be in constant competition or something. But, I dunno. I sometimes felt like he was being forced to stay in my shadow." Vasile frowned, for the first time actually feeling nostalgic. "I wasn't always the nicest to him," he admitted. "I wish I could see him again. See how he's doing." Vasile looked over a smiled to the girl. "Hey, I want to go shower. I'm feeling a bit sticky. Maybe we can catch up with each other later?" Vasile was enjoying her company and chided himself for momentarily wishing she was older. The last girl he was with before coming to the island was only sixteen (she said she was eighteen!) and the more he had been thinking abuot it, the more he had a suspicion that might have had something to do with the reason he ended up on this island. Quote: "Yeah..." Honestly, she didn't know how it felt to miss someone in that sense. The people she missed were already dead, burried somewhere in the United States over the blue ocean that surrounded them. Oh well, it was probably for the best that she didn't have as many friends as she wanted when she had left. If she had, right now she would be missing them as well.
"Oh, sure." Amaya smiled up at him. "I'm in duplex 20. Drop by anytime ya feel like talking... this was actually kind of fun." And it had been. Even though she was talking to a former movie star, he seemed like the average job and his past held a lot that she still had no idea about. It was nice to talk to someone other then the select few she came in contact with the most like Hargun, Ian, and Ambrose. Quote: Vasile smiled and nodded. "Allright, I'll see you around. Catch yourself a good tan," she said to her with a wink and headed back off to his duplex. In which he would probably freak out seeing how frizzy and wavy his hair looked while talking to another living person.

Amaya sighed as she lay on her bed, her legs sprawled outward and one of her arms propped up under her head. The other free hand constantly threw a spongy, yellow bouncy ball that had a corny smiley face on it into the air and caught it every time it descended. One good thing about her new body was that larger hands meant it was easier to catch stuff.
The light in her room was turned on and she was stripped to her bare minimums in order to bask, the undergarments that all looked the same a black strapless bra and black underwear. Amaya had never been blessed with a figure even though most of her family had been. They would always tease her that she was blessed with her father's figure... even though it would probably bother any other little girl, she never really cared. Not even now. So what if she wasn't attractive? It's not like she was alive JUST to appease some guy's fantasy. To be honest, she had never even had a boyfriend... or girlfriend. The thought or need had never passed her mind.
But now... it kind of did. Or at least that's what it seemed like. That strange lonely feeling was gradually creeping itself into her system. Amaya caught the ball she had been tossing and sighed, tapping it on her forehead with a sigh as she closed her eyes. Was it just because she was growing into a young woman now? Or was it some twisted way of whatever genes she had been given telling her to mate? The thought of the latter made her stomach toss. How disgusting.
With a grimace she began to toss the ball again, letting it zoom into the light and blind her before crashing down and landing in her scaly palm. She really shouldn't be thinking of these things, it could lead to much more horrible thoughts that she really, really didn't want to think about.
That actually reminded her of the talk she had with Vasile. Most really thought of her as a generally happy-go-lucky person... and she was! But... not all the way on the inside. She got angry and depressed like everyone else. A lot of people already knew how upset she could get since she had cried on multiple occasions. Even when she had seen Ambrose change she couldn't stop herself from crying.
Be brave. That's what she had been told by a few people. Be brave and well all get through this. Yeah right. She frowned and let another sigh escape her lips as she caught the ball and let her arm fall over her eyes. The feeling of scales on her still human skin was not at all pleasant, but she really didn't feel like moving it.
Amaya was far, VERY far from brave. If she couldn't even handle seeing Ambrose's face ripped away how would she be able to handle it when her own was torn off and thrown in the incinerator?
Now, see what you did? Onto those horrible subjects that didn't have any answers. This is what you get for laying here and thinking like a dumbass on s**t that you KNEW would depress you.
She snorted after yelling at herself and reached over her bed for the backpack that held her CD player. Bringing it up onto the bed she popped in System of a Down and shoved on her headphones before laying back down and tossing the ball once more.
Ahh, music. As long as she could hear and listen to music everything would be all right.
