A captain always-Arrgh!” Toulouse never got to finish his sentence as Julien latched onto his shirt. There was a tremendous tearing noise as Julien’s whole weight pulled on the all too tear-able fabric.

Toulouse gave a loud shriek, lost his balance, and tumbled down on top of Julien in a pile of arms and leg. The unfortunate cupcake had been squished between the two in the skirmish.

Ah! Oh no, are you guys okay?” Felicity called, getting ready to leap up in case either one was hurt. At least Julien was still clothed she thought wryly. The remnants of Toulouse’s shirt hung on his thin shoulders, ruined.

Mireille was scrambling right after Felicity, her focus also on the two boys.

Julien's eyes were wide as he stared up at Toulouse, something like panic in them as he stammered out an apology, then another and another, not even hearing Felicity's words as he clutched Toulouse's ruined shirt and kept apologizing.

Hearing Julien's almost panicked words, Mireille stopped short, biting her lip as she reached out with one hand to touch his shoulder.

Merde.” Toulouse groaned, struggling up until he was sitting, still slightly on top of Julien. “Are you alright Julien?” The little boy was clutching the ripped remains of the t-shirt and stuttering out apologies in a frantic sort of way. “It’s just a stupid piece of cloth. I want to know if you’re alright. I did fall on you after all.” Toulouse's voice was genuine with concern. He was worried if he had hurt the child. That absolutely would not do!
Toulouse reached down and pulled Julien into a sitting position, wincing as the raw skin on his right elbow gave a painful twinge. He hoped that Jules hadn't been scraped up.

Oh my gosh. Are you two alright?” Felicity asked again once she had made it to the children’s side. She wasn’t too worried about Toulouse, but more about Julien who had been squished. She fluttered anxiously over the two waiting for someone to start crying or something. Toulouse only seemed to be a little startled.

Oops?” Was all Toulouse said, shirking out of the let over bits of shirt. He revealed his pale white torso and Felicity could make out the faint scars the crisscrossed his back from when they first met. “Just an accident, right Julien?” Toulouse asked calmly.

Julien calmed as he saw that Toulouse wasn't upset, his voice fading to a stop as he searched Toulouse's face for several long seconds before his shoulders sagged. "I didn't mean to ruin your shirt," he said, rather than answer any of the concerns about him... he was fine.

...Okay, well, maybe not quite FINE, if that twinge in his side meant anything, but he was okay, at least, and he didn't want Toulouse hurt. "Are you hurt? Did I do anything to you?" he asked, offering the scraps of fabric he still held to Toulouse. He didn't pull away from Mireille's touch, or from Felicity, but his focus was on the blond boy.

Ah, Oui. I’m fine except for maybe a little bit of bent pride. Like I said. a stupid shirt is worthless.” Toulouse smiled at Julien rubbing his elbow thoughtfully. “You didn’t tell me if you were hurt. Is your backside no worse for the wear? Sorry I fell on you. As you can see, I’m not very graceful. How my sister’s would laugh. You really are fine, right?” Toulouse eyed Julien suspiciously with his blue gaze, looking for any sign of injury.

Felicity sighed in relief. Neither of the boys were hurt and no one was crying. God, she was bad in a crisis. She absently stroked the top on Toulouse’s golden head, at an utter loss for words.

Julien hesitated, then leaned against Toulouse, nodding slowly. "I'm okay," he said, voice soft as he closed his eyes. "I was just startled." Odd, how his head felt light for a few moments, but he dismissed it, shaking his head to clear it as he started to pull back from Toulouse slowly, pale cheeks pink with the embarrassment he still felt at being so clumsy.

When Julien started to pull back, Mireille reached out, her hands gently protecting him as she tried to keep him safe. Over Julien's head, she murmured a soft 'thank you' to Toulouse, gratitude in her eyes.

((Julien's head swimming was a reaction to the first use of his ability. Since it's your character, you can totally decide whether the healing did any good at all.))

Toulouse started when he felt Julien lean against him. A light prickling sensation made the blond hair at the back of his neck stand on end. His skin crept with a million invisible marching ants. The sensation was gone almost as quick as it had come.
O-oui. It happens to the best of us at times.” Toulouse replied, rubbing his now painless elbow thoughtfully again. Something had just happened. It was something small, he didn’t know what, but definitely something…curious.

Um, are you sure you’re okay Toulouse. You look a little flushed.” Felicity piped in upon seeing the strange expression come over Toulouse’s face. She wasn’t sure how to treat him now. Toulouse always got so weird about being in even the slightest bit of discomfort.

I’m fine.” He snapped. It seemed his impeccably good mood had vanished along with the cupcakes. “I’m just tired is all, sorry.” Toulouse added this after seeing Julien’s pale face. Was he tired too?

"And sticky," Julien said after a moment, as he became aware of the sorry state of his own clothes, intact but stained and soiled. He looked up at Toulouse again, searching the boy's face for a moment before offering a sad half-smile. "I'm sorry I ruined our fun," he said quietly, rubbing surreptitiously at his side. "But... maybe you can come over and we can do it again? Only... without me being so clumsy," he added, eyes dropping away.

Mireille relaxed as she heard Julien invite Toulouse over. Whatever his embarrassment or upset, clearly her little boy wouldn't let it stop him from being friends with Toulouse. She let Julien pull away from her slowly, then looked to Felicity. "I'll be happy to replace the shirt?" she offered softly.

Oh, bother the shirt!” Toulouse exclaimed in response to Mir’s comment. He turned to Julien and said pointedly, “You did not ruin the fun, you are not clumsy, and yes I would like to come over.” At that, he crossed his arms over his bare chest and glowered. “Besides fun is only a state of attitude in which a person can be in and the only way it can be ruined is if said person lets it be, ie me. I like you Julien. You make things fun when they otherwise would not be. Don‘t be upset.” Toulouse swooped his arms around the small boy, bring him into a brusque hug, not caring about the mess in the least.

Felicity’s mouth gaped at what Toulouse had just said. Finally regaining her words, she replied, “Well, I guess that’s that then.”

Julien squeaked as he was hugged, and hugged Toulouse back tightly before pulling away and getting slowly to his feet. They seemed almost of a size, and it was only a brief thought before Julien was tugging off his shirt to offer Toulouse. "In case you're cold like that," he said, bare chest as pale as the rest of him. The strength of him was returning, slowly, and he felt calmer after Toulouse's chiding, more centered and more... himself.

"Even so, I think it might just be time to call it a day," Mireille suggested, moving to gather up the food still laying about. "Though we could certainly get together again soon?"

Toulouse excepted the shirt with a half smile, not telling Jules that it was the middle of the day and that there was no way he was going to get cold. “Thanks.” He said no less grateful, slipping the shirt over his head. It was a little snug, but fit well enough.

I guess it is getting late.” Felicity agreed with Mir, going to help clean up the food mess. “We definitely need to get together soon. I know Toulouse had as much fun as probably Julien did. I look forward to it.” Felicity smiled at Mir, giving the other woman a friendly pat on the arm.

Bye then I suppose Jules.” Toulouse smiled warmly at the boy. “Thanks again for the shirt. It’ll be all clean next time you see it.” He laughed with a shake of his golden head.

With Toulouse back in a shirt, Julien's sunny smile returned, and he nodded, grinning at the idea that the next event might even be planned. "I'll make sure there are cupcakes for next time," he impulsively promised, clapping one hand lightly on Toulouse's shoulder, while the other rested against his side, where a light bruise was slowly forming on the pale skin.

Mireille held out the container of potato salad. "You liked it so much, feel free to take this. I've got more at home," she grinned. "Maybe you can even get the cupcake king over there to sample a few bites," she added.

Oui. Lots and lots.” Toulouse agreed, eyeing Julien’s hand where it was clasped at his side. He opened his mouth to say something, shrugged, and let it stand. Julien had said he was fine and Toulouse wasn’t going to start poking again. Julien didn’t seem to be in that much pain and he wasn’t bleeding. He hoped the boy was still okay, even though he desperately wanted to ask.

Wow, thanks! I’ll have to slip some to Toulouse when he isn’t looking. Remember to call the pottery place too. They’d love to have you.” Felicity smiled and took the proffered egg salad. “Come on Toulouse, let’s get going. We’ll be just in time for the bus.”

Oh joy. Oh rapture. We wouldn’t want to miss that now would we!” Toulouse rolled his eyes in disgust. “Whatever. Goodbye Jules. Goodbye Mir.” Toulouse said again.

See you later.” Felicity waved. “I can see the bus from here. Come on Toulouse!”

"Bye, Toulouse!" Julien chirped, waving to the golden boy with a wide grin. "See you in pottery!" Even if Toulouse didn't remember, Julien did... Toulouse had promised to try...

((End?))
