" Turning as he heard Diamond speak, noting what seemed to be sadness in him tone. " Don't you be heading off, I'm going to need you're help. "

Diamond flinched when he head his mother, he hated being called Dia. Turning to Frosty he gave him a questioning look. ’Surely he doesn’t want a kid messing up his date?’

Frosty noticed the flinched and glanced at Rain a moment not sure what had caused it. Looking back at the boy he nodded reasuringly. " I'll need you're help if I'm to find one of these 'sand dollars' before her. " He hoped Rain didn't mind him making this into a game and having the boy help him, but Diamond seemed a little put out by his presents and he wanted to show the boy that he wasn't all bad.

Diamond grinned at Frosty. "Boys vs Girls?" he asked amused.
Rain smiled at Frosty relishing what he was trying to do. "Fine with me, I'll prove once and for all that girls are better when I find one first."

Nodding to Diamond again he grinned back. " Exactly. " Turning to Rain he poked her in the nose again playfully. " We'll see about that M'Lady, we shall see. " Turning he guestured to Diamond and started walking away from Rain and back towards the water. " Now where is the best place to look for these things? "

Rain snickered. ‘Boys are such fools,’ she thought taking off down the beach to an area where she had found sand dollars in the past.
Diamond followed Frosty. “Sand dollars live in sandy locations, so if we just walk along the beach near the tide line we should find one, I think.”

Frosty stopped to watch Rain take off down the beach before turning to Diamond again. " Sounds good to me. I believe you're mother said they where little disks with a star pattern on top? " Shifting his green eyes down to the sand as they reached it, he began his search. Though he kept and eye on the kid as well just in case.

Rain ran until she reached a small bay. Going past the tide line she started to look for sand dollars. ‘I hope Frosty and Diamond don’t get into any trouble.’
Diamond looked up from the sand. “There off-white with a starry flower pattern on top.” Walking down farther he tried to remember what he knew of sand dollars.

Sticking close to the shore line he splashed lightly in the water as it moved to grate his paw before retreating and coming back up again. Repeating this over and over. He stopped a moment when he thought he had found something up it turned out to be a simple over turned shell once it was dug out. Glancing up to Diamond to check where the boy was, he noted that they seemed to be running out of beach. “ Hope we find one soon. ” He spoke quietly to himself before speaking up for Diamond to hear. “ You’re mother is pretty nice, I think you picked wisely when you ran into her. ”

Diamond turned to look at him. “I didn’t so much as run into her as she tripped over me,” he said with amusement. “She took me in and cared for me when she could barely take care of herself,” he said with love in his voice.
Rain pouted. “Nothing, not one sand dollar,” she said to no one. Standing she left the bay. Walking back along the beach with her head down she didn’t see Diamond and Frosty standing in front of her. “Oof,” she said as she run into Frosty.

“ You really are lucky, not many would take a young on in. Even less so in the winter months. Where I come from it does not happen, there is to little food in the cold regain for extra mouths. One must always fend for themselves. ” He thought back on his live in the snow as he spoke to the boy. It had been hard, he had barely survived it. Alone in the cold with no one to help him. He had learned to hunt on his own and fight of anything the dared to try and steal his meals. But in all honesty he wouldn’t change a think. He lived and that was what mattered.
Turning quickly, a little shocked at someone suddenly bumping into him, Frosty instinctively reached out to steady Rain. Making sure she didn’t fall over or anything. “ Oh M’Lady, what is wrong? You seem as if someone stole you’re favorite snack. ” He chuckled lightly before licking her nose gently, thought only half noticing himself do so.

Rain shook her head. “Ow,” she said blinking. She started at them both. “Weren’t you on the other side of the beach?” She looked back and noticed just how far she had come. Her ears lowered at his question. “I couldn’t find a single sand dollar anyware.”
Diamond looked down and there at his feet was a sand dollar. Glancing up at his Mother and the disappointed look on her face he flipped it so it rolled between her paws. ‘Sorry Frosty,’ he thought ‘But she means everything to me.’ Grinning he stated, “Look down.”

‘I think that is the cutest face I have ever seen a female make.’ Frosty thought to himself as he nuzzled her neck slightly. “ Don’t be to down on yourself, maybe there just they type of thing that appear in short seasons? ” He kept his tone soft and reassuring as he spoke to her, a gentle smile of his face. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted Diamond and what the boy had down, his ears flicking at the young ones voice. Looking down his smile grew and he knew what the child was doing. “ And look at that, you found one and didn’t even know you had. Look at that. ” Lifting a paw he pointed to the sand dollar at rested at Rains feet, glancing at Diamond a moment and nodding. He was far from upset with the lad, and more then understood why he had done it. Rain was his mother and he wanted her to be happy.

Rain looked down and smiled. “A sand dollar, guess it’s a tie,” she said having a good idea what they had done.
Diamond watched Rain and Frosty with a strange look on his face. Nodding to himself he got up and walked over to them. Hugging his mother he then turned to Frosty. Placing a paw on his shoulder he grinningly said, “I’m not going to call you dad.” With that he left the two by themselves.
Rain blushed from the tip of her ears to the tip of her tail. Speechless she stared after her son. Soft laughter floated back on the wind from were Diamond had disappeared.

Frosty watched after Diamond as the boy walked away and left them there alone. He blinked once then twice before turning to look back at rain again, noticing the pinkness of her cheeks through her fur. He smiled and took a seat in front of her as he spoke. “ Cute kid, good son. I think he’d do just about anything to keep you happy. I’m pretty sure he’ll always be close and you don’t have to worry about losing that one. ”
