Enki Leviathan *Enki places his finger atop the spine of one of the books and tilts it out, opening it with his other hand and browsing through it* Paranoid, no. Cautious, yes. I've had a lot of people out to get me in the past. *He then closes the book, turns to Vincent and bows elegantly* As you presumedly already know, I am Enki Leviathan. I rather like this town, though I tend to keep a low profile around here "Ah. I know the feeling. I'll try not to spoil your time too much." Vincent said with a nod of his head. He wasn't one to bow, but he gave respect where it is needed. "But...Enki Leviathan. The Rain." He continued with a whisper, a small smile spreading his lips as he gazed at Enki with those smokey grey eyes. "I've heard so much about you, on and off the fighting plains. Such a powerful adversary, right up there with The Flame Kasuga, The Spark Tomorrow, and The Darkness Maximos. It is a shame that you do not fight anymore - i would love to see you in combat, to see if the tales ring true."He held his hands up then. "Not that I am challanging you, mind...I never was one for fisticuffs and duels. But I am happy to finally meet one of this world's great superpowers before i die."He turned then, spreading his hand to point to a small table situated in the middle of the books, where a person could sit and read, to rest their weary legs in their search for knowledge. "Would you sit with me, kind sir, and permit me to ask you about yourself and the family i have heard of?"

He nods to the man and begins walking toward the table before pulling out and chair and taking a seat*
I havn't fought recently because of everything that has happened... my daughter seemed to have reappeared, my stadium was destroyed... After I have it rebuilt, I plan to take up sparing once again. My only problem is that so many people are reliant upon their powers, and not their abilities. I will only use my powers when I absulutely must. Otherwise, I preffer straight fights.

Something happened, didn't it?
He could tell already that it was going to be an interesting talk from this point... but the way she approached him wasn't so good. Perhaps she should talk another time- then he mentally shook his head. Better to get it out now.
It's okay... you don't have to say anything. Now then, where were we?
He smiled. Such an understanding smile, and yet they both knew he had no idea what happened downstairs.

"I'm sorry, but I don't think I can go on now..."
Her look grew somewhat distant until she glanced down and fell silent for several seconds. During that short span of time Lucind's features visible went blank. Like cutting off all unwelcome streams of emotions she inwardly build up a protecting wall, one of the first exercises a Siren was taught during her education. Once the mental shield started to work she resembled so much the image many people had of her race: a statue or a puppet, graceful, yet cold. With her feelings well hidden she prevented that Evan might saw her in a way she didn't want to. Not already now.
Still a faint smile curved her lips, even if it didn't reach her huge eyes. "Did you know Maximos?"

Evan nodded. He did indeed know Maximos. It was too bad that their friendship went sour- mostly his own fault, rest assured. But he didn't really have any regrets about it anymore... apparently, she did. Either that, or something had happened
As for the mental defenses. he sensed them. A quite formidable wall- but there was nothing he couldn't break. He didn't try, but he still shook his head mentally at this. The only time one needed that was in battle- any time else was definitely bad for one's health, not to mention their social life. But he said nothing about it.
Yeah, I knew him. Nice guy... I heard he was defeated and passed on recently.
He put a hand on her shoulder.
But I trust this is a sore spot for you... the way you walked over here a few minutes ago told me something was wrong. If it has to do with this, it's best not to talk about it until you're ready.

"It's okay. Don't worry." Indeed she appeared to be totally calm now. And Lucind guessed he could sense her emotional retreat but as as long as this wall was erected she didn't care. They knew each other for quite some time. They would be GSF mates soon. But this didn't change anything of the fact she wasn't an open-hearted person.
"Defeated...? Then one would have to say it was me who killed him." Another meaningless smile. "It wasn't like that, though. He straightened things out for him and chose to pass on. And I assisted him. So he's resting in peace now. Hopefully. The black stranger downstairs was a friend of him."

You know... I could probably talk to him, if you want.
Of course, that's what he would have said, but he didn't.
One part of the legend he neglected to tell her was that the Ravens of Odin were capable of speaking to anyone, anywhere... including the dead. It was how they were able to aquire so much information, back when they were agents of the Allfather. But he refrained from saying such things.
Besides... the stranger in black was rather interesting.
"So something did happen. What did he say or do?"

"He ordered what Maximos usually had. Then he paid with exactly the same gem Maximos once gave me when he first came into Feimurgan I on the stadium's Merchant's Ring."
She showed him the tiny ruby.
Of course, this alone didn't explain her confusion, though one might ask himself how the beautiful stone could leave the old cafe. Wondering if it was wise to say anything else, to tell Evan about the 'message from heaven' she shifted in her chair. Lucind felt she could trust him. Yet it was indeed a sore spot as the previous encounter downstairs had just shown her. And it wasn't supposed to be like that.
This leak must have messed up with my whole mental structure, therefore I'm reacting so sensitive. - Hooray for new abilities...

Enki Leviathan *Enki seems to be rather flattered with the praise he seems to be recieving. He nods to the man and begins walking toward the table before pulling out and chair and taking a seat* I havn't fought recently because of everything that has happened... my daughter seemed to have reappeared, my stadium was destroyed... After I have it rebuilt, I plan to take up sparing once again. My only problem is that so many people are reliant upon their powers, and not their abilities. I will only use my powers when I absulutely must. Otherwise, I preffer straight fights. Mercy sat down on the other side of the small table, letting himself slip easily into the cusy chair and crossing one leg over the other as he leaned forward to take a small ashtray from the table and tap his pipe into it, the burnt tobacco heaping up wihtin. "I apologise for my smoking - we all have certain needs in this world." He said apologetically, pulling a small pouch of tobacco from his coat pocket and tapping some into the pipe. "Ah...the daughter. Tellus Jade Leviathan, yes? I have heard of her...word has it she has her mother's beautiful features and her father's stubborn nature, yes?" He continued with a small chuckle as he tucked his little pouch away to pull out a thick match from the same pocket, the head a inky black that he lit by snapping his index finger across it, the flame flaring a bright green with a blue centre as he dug it into the tobacco stuffed into the pipe, puffing it for a second and watching it turn an off-green burn before shaking the match out, purple smoke curling up from the burn wood as he tossed it into the ashtray. "And the Stadium...I am sorry to hear of it's destruction. My company's main building in Durem, Aesir Corporation Headquarters, was also destroyed less then a year ago during an metahuman incident - which consequently destroyed several other buildings. As you say, a problem with power, so to speak. But, we learn, we rebuild, we move on. We are human, after all." He leaned forward then, his hand cradling his pipe as he puffed it gently, the purple smoke whisping up into the air. "Tell me, how is your rebuilding coming along?"

He sits back and listens intently, swearing he'd heard something about that incident before. Once questioned again, Enki sits back up and watches the mans smoke, twirling little strings of mist along with the smoke out of his own amusment as he speaks*
Well... I had hired a company to do the rebuilding but is highly overpriced and I do not trust this company to build my home... I have caught a clause in the contract that I can override them by. You see, his contract is only legally binding under the government it was signed under. The Dead Forest and everything held within is not owned by neither Barton, Dürem, or Gambino. It is owned by me and I am, technically, the government. Thusy, his contract holds no legality when in my land. I'm just going to do what I did last time to build it.
*Unknown to Vinvent, a group of three-hundred men was already approaching the site of the old ruins and they will take care of everything*

"I see...my own rebuilding was only just finished not a week ago. The smell of fresh paint hasn't left my office yet. I find it quite disturbing and distracting...but, given time, it will fade into something much more preferrable."He paused for a moment to watch the smoke from his pipe be whisked to and fro by the air conditioning and wondered breifly if this was the kind of place where you got served...before pulling his pipe from his mouth and looking down to it. "Like the smell of tobacco...did you know that these shores did not have tobacco till it was brought over by sea-traveling natives a few millennia ago? A little settlement of tribesmen bored of their lands, setting out with all manner of herbs and spices for trade. I forget their names...they were nomadic, to say the least, and never stayed in one place for long." He held the pipe up so it was at eye-level to show it to Enki. The pipe was an elegant red-wood, the rounded base carved with a myriad of symbols and patterns, glyphs and runes. The smoke curled up from the pit within easily, and Vincent held it with a kind of relish. "A dear friend gave this to me a very, very long time ago, before i was old enough to understand the significance of such a gift. She told me that when she died, and only when she died, was I allowed to smoke from. I thought it a strange request then, but now i see the significance...every time I tap some tobacco into this, I think of the knowledge she bestowed upon me, and how I breathed it in like so much air, soaking it into me until it was more a part of me then me myself.""She had taught me everything i knew, and more...and now she is gone. Much like the air takes the smoke and causes it to fade away into the sky, she faded as well until nothing was left. The young man cleared his throat before lowering the pipe. "Do you have any wishes regarding the past, Mr. Leviathan? THat you had learned a little more, done something different, made changes when you could?"

He did use those to pay for his drinks, didn't he? No one uses those anymore, at least not these days. So this man in black must be a messenger of sorts. The message must've either been something important, or something simple. Either way...
It's nothing to worry about. The man was probably only delivering a message and paying for the drink in the first place. I wouldn't go any deeper than that. Besides, you have that problem, right? I wouldn't go so far to blame that, but it could be a possibility.
Evan shrugged and got up from his chair... stretched out... and sat back down again.
Anyways... I suppose I'm still invited to your trip to Magpie Valley? At least, I hope I am. I still intend to find out just what's wrong- and try to do something, if I can.

(('kay, I'll speed this up a bit, so that Lu and Hugin can soon travel north. And I have to 'warn' you that I'm not intending to make a full story of the trip. Don't wanna disappoint you, but there's another plot waiting for Lucind to which I'm looking forward^^ - Oh, and the last sentence in italics was just Lu's thought...)) "Sure. I keep my promise. I'll send a message to announce your visit. - Think we can start in three days." She smiled friendly but added that she wished to be alone now. After accompanying Evan to the main entrance Lucind first went back into the library section to greet Enki. She didn't want to interrupt his conversation, though, and went into her room, enjoying the silence for some minutes before making another round through her store. In the evening, the Feimurgan crew was done but happy and they had a spontaneous private party - or maybe not so spontaneous for Lucind had already put sparkling wine and orange juice aside for that. Later on, it was almost 2am, she stood on the roof, sniffing the dark cool breeze of Latent. She turned around when an elevator door opened. " You..? Thought you're on a mission." " Aww what a greeting - I can go then, yes? crying " Larhien made a whining face while walking up onto the small platform. Lucind chuckled. " No. You're granted permission to stay. - Am glad you're here..." " Looking as if you could need a hug." " I do." " Come here." He held her tight, feeling his sister relax in his strong arms. He could tell there was more than a busy, exhausting first day in this store, still he preferred to stay quiet for now. Pressing her face against his shoulder, to be precise, into the fabric of his coat, this unpleasant pressure within her chest vanished and she sighed. " ... I'll see Hetel this week." The male Half-Siren peeked down and brushed some blue strands out of Lucind's face. After several seconds he replied. " She will understand that you're afraid, Lu. Hetel's not that..unworldly. And the rest of the council either..or at least two of the four members." Lucind didn't answer but frowned. " I've been thinking of just learning from Hetel to completely shut the door to the lhor'aven and never open it again. I...I don't want become addicted to it like they do..." " Addicted?" Larhien chuckled. " I've never seen it that way. - Well, it's just natural for Sirens to spend a lot of time there...in fact, a huge part of their life. Heh." He shrugged. " And it's your choice alone how much you're using this new connection. You're decision, Lucind." " Yes...but..." She raised her head to look at him. " It's powerful. Alluring even, to be honest. I could feel it...like an undertow. See, I just don't want to..." " Hmm?" " I feel like I'm about to break the promise I gave our parents." Her eyes dropped, she felt that her brother was shaking his head. " No. - No, you aren't and you won't. You always chose your path and you still are." Gently swaying his sister in his arms he murmured, " You won't become like them." Larhien remembered very well how his sister had told him several times, once already when they were children, that she felt scared of this typical state fullbloods achieved the older they got: being occupied with the lhor aven and matters of their own race alone, slowly losing touch to the rest of the world...staring through you...into your soul...like an icy doll. He cupped her cheek. "See, you're warm. You've always been." * * * The next day Lucind and the others explained Nixxy how everything worked and what unexpected problems had appeared the previous day. They received another donation of books: three large cartons full with volumes of different genre. Lucind was surprised to even find medical technical literature. And she could put another speciality on the menu for Larhien had brought fifty bottles of the spicy Siren wine with him.

((*Feels like ornating*))
*Enki listens intently as Vincent speaks, once again watching the smoke as it rises. Enki forms a plate of water in the air and wraps it in a "bubble" around a patch of the smoke, keeping it trapped within the water as it swirled and whists it's way about inside it's entrapment. He then looks at Vincent and mulls over the question for a few moments before nodding slowly to himself and responding simply*
There are many things I wish I could have done different... but everything I learned, every event that had a one course action... they were all a part of being human, which is the whole point in my being here now, like this
*He then gestures down to his own body. He then looks up as he sees, and feels, Lucind pass by. He smile gently to her and nods his head, then turns back to Vincent*
If I chose to, I could completely shrug off this "skin" of sorts and quite literally become a god. Do you know who the dominent diety is here, in this town, and for their ancestors, the Atlantians?
