(Sakura i'm going to speed up time after Tael's initial reaction to give Kaze a day to recoup)
Taelence watched Kaze as she ran, but the other fox knew it was a different type of running away. She wasn't running so much from Taelence as she was from her madness. That was something Tael could deal with. She turned back to follow the river home. She would come back the next night and spend a little bit more time with Kaze then, if the Angelic wanted to.
"Until tomorrow night Kaze," she whispered and headed off.

Taelence sat by the lake the next night, wondering if Kaze was around.
"And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am..." she sang, hoping that Kaze would hear her and come to talk.

Kaze sat outside her den and sang to herself.

She figured Taelence was probably listening to her but she didn't care. She stretched and stood up. Slowly, she flew into the sky and glided along. She landed in the trees near the lake.

Taelence watched as Kaze alighted in the tree-line bordering the lake. She padded closer, making sure to make noise so as not to scare Kaze.
"Good evening Kaze," Tael called up. "Would you mind spending some time with me tonight? I'd love to tell you what happened at the shop today."

I'd rather not, but I'm so bored.... She hopped down out of the tree and walked over and lay at the edge of the lake. She dipped her paw into the water and let it dangle there. She gave Tael a look as to say "Get on with it".
Kaze ruffled her wings and took her paw that wasn't in the water and readjusted the feathers. She gently put her head on her leg connected to the wet paw. Her black and gray tailed curled around an so she used it as a pillow.

Taelence walked to the edge of the lake and sat down, making sure to keep a good distance between Kaze and herself. She started snickering as she remembered the days events.
"So you remember Yakuza? The idiot whom thinks he's the Goddess's gift to vixens? He started hitting on one of the newest females in the shop," Tael could barely contain her laughter. "Goddess! It was the most pathetic thing you've ever seen! Anyways, he started up with all the old lines and the female pretended to be all interested in him and asked him if he would show her some of his tricks." Taelence was outright laughing now. "The poor fool stood up and started strutting. He never saw her paw sticking out to tangle his legs up. He fell flat on his face!" she giggled. "Now normally this wouldn't be funny, except it's Yakuza we're talking about. So she brushed her tail in his face and said the next time he wanted to show himself off he better make sure that all of his parts were working correctly because obviously his brain wasn't." She wiped tears of laughter from her eyes.
"Poor Yakuza, I really shouldn't make fun of him, but he just makes it so easy!"

Kaze sat there boredly and listened to Tael babble on about Yakuza. Blah, blah, blah.
She wrote with her claw: And? What's so funny about that?

Taelence frowned for a moment. She's hoped that she would be able to put Kaze in a good mood and already she was screwing it up.
"I suppose it's funny because Yakuza's a fool and he got what he deserved," she said after a moment. Then she fell into a deep silent pause, thinking.
"Kaze..." she said after a moment. "Do you choose to be this way?"

Kaze wasn't quite sure on how to respond to that and right now she was ready to bolt.
Slowly she wrote: No, and I wasn't always like this. I just can't change my ways. What they did to me changed my view on life, changed my feelings... changed my... appearance. It changed everything about me...

Taelence read what Kaze wrote and paused again. She took a breath and let it out. This hurt to say. Because if Kaze answered a certain way, then Taelence couldn't and wouldn't help Kaze. And she would leave her alone.
"If you could change........would you?"

She paused and sighed and wrote: I can't change my appearance and I don't care anymore, so... I don't know. My brother is the only person I care about and he loves me for who I am. I don't know.
Kaze just didn't care anymore. No one likes her except her brother and she doesn't like anyone besides her brother. That's just how it is.

Taelence wasn't sure how to answer that. The more she talked to Kaze, the more Kaze confused her. Taelence couldn't understand just sitting there and not doing anything if there was something wrong. This....passiveness irritated her.
I understand being hurt. And I understand being broken. But I don't understand why you would allow those feelings walk all over you, without trying to stop them. Does she want to be this way. And if she does, what does that say about her character, even before this happened to her? That she was too easy to break in the first place?
This gave Tael a lot to think about. But she was certain of one thing.
"This isn't meant to be condescending, but you're not too sure of anything are you?" she paused. "Wait a minute...Brother? You have a Brother?"

Yes, she wrote. I've been actively searching for him. Ever since I left, I never saw him. And I miss him. A lot. I had to leave my past and I know he left too. But I don't know where he went and I don't think he knows where I went either...
She looked down. and turned her face away from Tael. She wrote next in reply to her first question: No, not really. Nothing matters to me anymore. I've lost everything I had. Everything that I cared about.

Taelence wanted to comfort Kaze but she didn't know how. And she knew that no matter how much Kaze might tolerate her, she'd never tolerate a comforting paw.
"I'm sorry," she said quietly and sincerely. "I really am. But I'm sure you'll find him. A bond like that doesn't just go away. And I wouldn't be surprised if he's out there looking for you right now." she smiled.
"What does he look like?" Tael asked curiously.

For once, Kaze smiled. But not at Tael. She was thinking about her brother and was staring off in space.
"I can't explain him. He's too wonderful. If I ever find him I'll let you meet him." That was the longest sentence Kaze had said since she'd arrived.

Taelence smiled. Though she didn't show it, she was squealing with glee inside.
She spoke! she thought happily. It's a good start. Even if it is only because of her brother, it doesn't really matter.
Another thing that made Taelence happy was just the sound of Kaze's voice. The vixen might have been broken and damaged, but they had not taken her voice away from her. It held her in thrall.
I could listen to her forever, Tael mused.
"Tell me a little bit about your brother," she said, hoping that Kaze would continue to use her voice. "What's he like? What's his name?"
