Now if only he still had that prisoner, this picture would work quite well.

Oh well, slipping around wasnt too much of a deal with him, 'cause he still had his eyes set on the back of his teammate he was chasing after.

Always with the running away. Well, he sure as hell wasnt going to let this one get away this time.

Halfway across the corn field, Athan spied the beginnings of a ladder, outlined in cement leading into the irrigation tunnels. Athan planted his feet, slid the rest of the way to and a little bit past the ladder, then stopped to go back.

He took a single step towards the ladder, lifted his head, and bore witness to Tzenidaar bearing down on him.

"Son of a--"

Finally, he stopped.

He leaped into the air, spittle flying everywhere since he was almost foaming at the mouth while giving chase, animal insticts kicking in during the time. Both hands flew above his head as the huge cleaver appeared between his hands, and as he came down, he swung straight downwards at Athan's head.

"Shi-!"

Athan practically threw himself to his right side after a moment's hesitation, just barely avoiding the cleaver and stumbling back and away from the chimera, attempting to and failing to catch himself on numerous corn stalks. He was caught off guard, in a hurry, and just not really in the mood for distractions. In short, Athan was at a pretty huge disadvantage right now.

When Athan finally caught his balance, he'd move to draw his sword with his right hand, bringing the weapon to his front with the left hand grabbing the hilt near the pommel once the sword was positioned correctly.

Well, that was pretty much expected.

Missing his target, the blade slammed into the dirt and mud as his body kept going forward as he landed, skidding across the messy surface for a foot before he pretty much lost balance and tipped foward into a faceplant and rolled through the field, running down some stalks of corn.

And then he rose.

"Im'a gonna beat some sense into yer rude a**." Knocking him over by accident was one thing, calling him names and running away was another.

He tightened his grip on his cleaver, grinding the mud off of the wrapped surface to ensue proper grip as he held it pointed forward at his right waise.

And then he noticed something familiar about the guy, as if he'd met him before somewhere.

"If you want, I'll write you a formal apology back at the APC, but right now I'm a little BUSY!"

Athan took about three steps forward on the muddy ground and brought his sword about in one of those famous horizontal swings. His right foot took the lead as he swung from left hip to right hip, putting about as much 'oomph' into the swing as he possibly could.

He wasn't intending to kill the chimera this time, he had already tried once to avenge the loss of his arm and found the reward rather unsatisfying.

He just wanted to get Tzenidaar out of the way, and if that meant hitting him with an eighty pound sword, well, so be it.

"I'ma gonne have you write it out five hundred and fourty-seven times after I'm done with you."

Always with the rediculous numbers.

Too much armour to penetrate. Not enough room for a full swing. Well, there wasnt much for Tzenidaar to do. It was too bad he wasted so much time running his mouth rather than attacking and putting his body into action. So it would appear that he could only defend for the time being, as his body was not fully armoured in order to provide mobility and agility.

His sword slipped to his side vertically as he took the blow of the sword against the flat of his own, but with the bad footing due to mud, he slipped off balance and was knocked to the side. When it came down to it, bigger people were generally always stronger, and Tzenidaar wasnt the biger one in this scenario.

Two options were present for him now. Athan could capitalize on his advantage and try to deal with Tzenidaar once and for all, or he could cut and run, trusting that the chimera had a very short memory and Athan wouldn't have to deal with Tzenidaar and Alpha once he caught up to the shadelord.

Dammit.

Athan looked at the ladder, looked at Tzen, and then rushed forward, bringing the sword over his own head before swinging it straight down towards the prone figure.

If he could just hold out until Tzenidaar saw a box of kittens or something, maybe he'd be free to go about his business.

He slipped, fell over, and landed on his back, and then saw a nice big sword coming down.

"Hey, ******** you."

Didnt the guy say he was going to write up a formal apology?

Haha! Dirty fighting. He grabbed a handful of mud and dirt and threw it into Athan's face just before he swung down, and at that moment the blade came crashing down, he rolled away from the blade, and on his stomach, swung his own sword around to the back of Athan's knees, not even bothering to figure out of he was using the back or edge of the blade to attack, 'cause he was busy taking advantage of the distraction.

And well, up we go.

Apology or not, this was just good ol' natured fun, wasn't it?

Athan didn't even get to see if he had connected. The mud covered his eyes pretty well, but at least it didn't sting nearly as bad as dust or sand. That didn't change the fact he was blind, and going off feeling alone it was hard to tell if his sword was sinking into flesh or really thick mud.

His confusion ended pretty quickly the moment he was upended by Tzenidaar's cleaver, though. Athan was a big guy, hard to move and whatnot, but if someone could take his legs out well, that was a good start.

He went up, then landed shoulder first in the mud. His right hand was quickly trying to wipe the mud off of his face, where the lack of readily available cloth was becoming a bit of a hindrance.

As long as he got his eyes cleared before Tzenidaar chopped him in half, Athan would be trying to get a handle on the situation while laying flat on his back.

Not exactly ideal, by any means.

And with Athan down, and Tzenidaar up, their positions were reversed.

But Tzenidaar wasnt going to fall for his own trick and try to cleave down on Athan, he just sort of lunged forward and dilivered a swift kick to Athan's head. Big weapons were pretty weak in close quarters, so small quick actions seemed to work better. Plus, Athan's head wasnt covered in armour like the rest of his body.

Man, if only there was a curb around.

Okay, scenery check.

Corn, check. Sky, check. Sun, chuck. Looming shadow, check.

Wait.

Athan received a boot to the head before he even could register where he was. And without much detail as to where it was coming from, he was forced to roll for safety. He took down corn stalks, snapping them at their bases as he just rolled through the field, dragging his sword with one hand and trying to cover his head with the other.

If he avoided getting his head stomped for a few seconds, he'd finally stand up. If not, he'd be a sitting duck for a little while longer.

"That enough for you, punk?" Back with the s**t talking, "Or would you like another serving?"

Yup, he was just standing there with a stupid face, plastered in dirt and mud, pointing a finger at Athan and with his sword in his other hand resting on his shoulder.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 01, 2008 5:19 pm

Athan's face was covered in mud, so was his armor, so was his sword. He looked pretty damn dirty, pretty damn tired from all of the running, and for the first time in his life he didn't really feel like fighting.

His left hand hefted his own sword up to his shoulder, and he wiped the back of his right hand across his mouth to clear away some of the mud.

Man, he needed a shower.

"Nah, I'm good."

That really wouldn't work, would it?

Psh, and he was just getting started. His sword swung down, the tip of the blade planting in the dirt as he began to run his mouth some more, "Just as I thought, for such a huge guy, you sure are WEAK."

And then he'd heft it up by the back of the blade with his other hand and toss it at Athan, tip first, following right up after it in a forward 'charge', if you want to call it that with the little space between them.

He'd have a sword to deal with, followed by the chimera right after it, so making him act against something first ensured that he'd get a measure of how Athan was going to move and position himself, revealing any weaknessed in his movements.
