She watched him with a careful and concerned eye... Dancer could tell he was reaching for something or someone. Was he dreaming of long lost someone? Was something out of his reach and he was wanting it back? Dancer was unsure what to do. He felt like he was getting hotter. **Crosscurrent wake up please.** Her voice was soft in his mind but filled with worry.

He slit his green eyes open, but didn't really registar what was in front of him. The dark skin of the gentle female holding him, petting him, and assumed it was a familiar tribemate.. even if the name eluded him.

"m'fine," he murmured, still half-asleep.

**No... No you aren't.** She worried more at his being so hard to wake. She knew fevers could do damage and even kill if they lasted to long or got to high. **Wake up** The voice in his mind more demanding this time. Not loud but forceful.

"I am awake," he growled with now closed eyes as if the conversation worked better without the distraction.

She didn't mind the growl at all. At least he was awake. Dancer went back to stroking his head lightly to see if that might make him a bit happier. "Good, I'm glad." Her voice happy and cheerful. It was easy to hide worry in normal speech.

"Is Adir bringing something?" It was a logical reason his big-brother wasn't here. Besides, from her lap it was easy to hear the rumbles of hunger from her stomach. And since there was no tenor voice coaxing or teasing him into waking more it was a sure thing that she was his current 'sitter. Which was annoying if he wanted to feel anything.

But it felt nice if he could just find a comfortable spot.

Dancer shook her head lightly and wondered for a moment what to do. He needed to cool... His fever was getting worse if he was oblivious to when he was and where. She took his head from her lap and set it softly on the sand again. Getting to her feet she figured his best bet was the ocean. Even in the low tide wash it was cooler then just here on the sand. Nibbling on her lip she thought of lifting him. That was no good as she might just drop him after about three steps. Fire Bright wasn't here to help and he might fear the great cat in his present condition. All she could do was redirect the water. Digging first around him a slight pit so any water that did come would pool around his body and stay a bit. Dancer then moved to maake a channel for the water. Pulling up sand and tossing it to the side as fast as she could. The dawn pushed on. She didn't think about the growing warmth in the air as the sun kept moving in the sky. It seemed to take forever till Dancer was at the waters edge but in truth Crosscurrent wasn't all that far from the water. Slowly the water moved up the path cut in the sand and after a few breaks against the shore water started to spill over Crosscurrents feet and pool slowly around his form. If this didn't help she would send for help to get him in deeper water. While she waited to see if this would work she sat and held his head again. Stroking the frohead she sent to him softly **Crosscurrent... You must fight this... Fight to get well. How will I ever get to show you the wonders of the land if you aren't well? Fire Bright wants to take you for a ride.** Her voice soft and cooing, almost teasing him to get up and show her he was fine. Still, the worry was there.

The end of his crimson tail flapped a little, barely splashing the water pooled there. It was a delightful feeling. So he did it a few more times as he slowly made sense of the Sending about 'riding'.

Between puzzling the name Fire Bright and hearing himself called Crosscurrent.. it was slow, but a few memories came back. Fever-heat made it so he wasn't embarrassed or anything. He did throw a forearm across his eyes as the only sign of distress.

"I got sick again," he sighed in resignation as the aches and discomforts matched the all too familiar feelings of being ill. He knew healers. If he was on land then he was either bleeding (don't attract sharks or the tribe was ashore), which he couldn't feel right now: a numbing medicine or Healing?

Resolved to know further in the simplest way, he rolled over, away from the tender lap and propped himself up on his hands to look around. The gravity more noticeable then he wished. Shivering a little as he noted the silence of an empty beach. He had no healing gift, but knew something was wrong.. if he could straighten his thoughts out...

The pretty head nodded slowly as sapphire eyes watched him closely. He still wasn't back to normal. **Are you feeling better now? Can I do anything to help?** She stood and brushed the sand from her legs and tush then moved closer to him again. **Maybe you should take a swim for a bit.** She nelt down to look him in the eyes as a hand reached out to push some hair out of his face since his hairtie was removed at some point.

He blinked. Looked at her as she touched him. And if his arms weren't shivering he would have touched her in return. The word 'swim' made him briefly flex his tail fin, where it splashed in the water pooled around him.

"But you can't swim," he said confused. Somehow his thoughts didn't translate aloud as well, but he didn't realize that. One elbow, then the other, folded to lower himself down again. There was a minor growl, "I hate being sick," muffled by the sand he faced. His head now resting in the curl of his arms.

"But I can swim. Just not how you do or as long." Her voice was kind and gentle as she looked to the water then back to him again. "If you like I will go in with you. I just have to come up for air every now and then is all." Dancer placed a hand on his head and stroked it lightly. "If you want help to reach the deep I can try. I'll pull you by all this long hair of yours." Now she laughed quietly and tugged lightly at his hair, as if to get him to lift his head again to her. "The water helped you feel this much better. I'm sure more of it would do you good." She leaned in close to whisper in his ear. "If you don't get your tail back to the water I will call Fire Bright and have him drag you by the tail." It was only playful teasing that she did to make him smile and try to coax him back into the water. With that she laughed again reaching her mind out to touch his. The send * 4laugh * was just a mental hug mixed with concern. A longing for him to rejoin the sea and make himself well.

"Bully," Crosscurrent shot back. Threats of having a predator taking a grasp on his tail did work in making him keep his red tail down. For while it was tempting to be held by sea again, he didn't want to move around.. and he knew that high fevers needed someone keeping an eye on them.

'Adir would laugh to see me like this.' It was rare for him to be even this social when sick. His brother had learned how to tie him down at times to make him rest. There was always something to do: a restlessness to do things while he could (trying to ignore the Healers).

But the youth was hungry. Even if he had no desire to eat himself he needed to provide for others. Since Eltiln's death he had spent little effort beyond his basic needs. Besides, Dancer would only worry/hover over him if he didn't do something.

It was an effort but he shifted his tail into legs again. Laying still for a moment before pushing up and back onto his haunches. A hand reached almost blindly for the net edge before sitting up completely. A few heartbeats later he stood with his prize in hand to give a distracted smile where Dancer was. Habit had him carefully hide the hints of dizzyness, aches and strange vision.

"But you are right. Back I go," he said as he turned toward the sea.

Dancer out right laughed at being called a bully. Making a scrunched up face at him as she stuck her tongue out. "Stop being such a grouch." She chuckled at him. When he stood she moved to his side and placed an arm around him. Yes she knew he must be hiding the weakness well. When laying on the beach he could hardly keep his head up. "Indulge me and let me feel helpful to you by helping you to the water." The voice was soft and relaxed. "Will you also stay close in the water till I know you are well? I have to ask this of you as I could never keep up should you choose to swim away. So I must trust your word." Dancer glanced up at him with a smile. It was almost as bright as the sun that kept pressing on in the sky.

"Talk talk talk talk," he said with a huff of irritation. It was hard to concentrate on both himself and her words. And her idea of helping by attaching herself to him, when he had no wish to lean on her, was off-setting his already fragile balance.

Well that gave Dancer the hint and she said nothing from then on. Still she helped him walk to the deeper water. She hoped he would feel better soon. Dancer wondered to herself about the others back at the pool. She thought about little DewPaw and wondered how she was getting along.
