Metabolic Less Also, the part with the chandelier really, really annoyed me. At that point I was kind of just "...What the hell?" That's probably one of the most important things in the entire play. I didn't think it made sense where they put it. It's supposed to fall at Christine's feet... it's not supposed to crash into the audience and catch the entire theater on fire. x____X; That's something that really annoys me about American movies. They always have to have explosions and action... or something like that. I thought it made more sense to crash the chandelier at that time. That way, it better explains how the Opera House was like destroyed. I kinda like the switch too, and how it falls into the audiance like in the book. Most people are angry at the chandelier change just because it's not how it is in the stage version; with no other reason. The best reason I think, and people have said, for being disgruntled at the change is that it doesn't show how crazy the phantom is and gives Christine 'less of a reason' to fear him. But I dunno; Erik hangs Buquet- and if I saw that, and knew who did it, and knew he was my teacher; I'd be pretty freaked out already. In the plot, I don't think the new place of the chandelier takes away or changes much- just peoples expectations.
But thats just what I think, and I'm silly. whee

Skully, I definately second ya there. I enjoy the changes made except for leaving out "In all your fantasies, you always knew.. That man and mystery, Were both in you" line from phantom of the opera. But alas, I can live because Past the point of no return completely made up for it and was most certainly my favourite scene. It stunned me and it just pulled in the tension and the confused Raoul moment. Not to mention, Seeing Christine get all in the mood like that was awesome, She just.. threw herself into it and then Erik was all happy until.. Well, You know.

I just found out that Patrick Wilson graduated from my school. There are articles and pictures of him in the high school office. (^>^) I have renewed hope in our drama program...
On a slightly more movie-related note, did anyone else find it odd that Raoul left his box before Think of Me was over, and still got to Christine's dressing room after EVERYONE else?

I saw it twice and want to go see it again! ~Sigh~ Dreamy (^).^ Anyway, maybe I'll go tomorrow or the day after. My favorite scene was Down Once More. I thought Gerard Butler's chaotic tones fit the film version perfectly! Huzzah! The monkey music box scene always choked me up. Always has, always will.

I liked Gerard BUtler's voice, but I'm more used to Michael Crawford's. Yeah.
The monkey music box thing gets me all sad, too. I've listened to the Highlights of PoTO for 3 or 4 days now, and each time Erik sings, 'Masquerade...paper faces on parade...hide your face so the world can never find you.' I get really close to crying. But I haven't in six years and apparently, my body is setting me up for one helluva show when I do finally cry.
Getting back to relevance, I also liked Christine's voice, though she didn't show alot of emotion. And when she kissed Erik, I was going 'YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!' inside. For a moment I had hope, then realised that it was written in stone, despite being a spawn of Hollywood.
I thought the movie was the greatest thing I've ever seen. My favourite movie now. I'm going to get a poster this weekend. MUST. HAVE. MERCHANDISE.

I get to go see it for the second time this weekend heart I have the Highlights from the original soundtrack whee my mommy got it... hehe! I've been listening it non-stop since I saw the movie... I personally, like the new singers over the originals.... Gerard has a more "rock" voice (said someone in the guild...) and I guess thats prob why I prefer him over Michael... I'm a rock/metal chick lol... but meh... the songs are amazing, and those who sing them sing them well!!! heart
