yes, I do realize that but some animals are also killed solely for their hide. You know what I just realized? I do own something leather... shameful.

@Jenn_antiviolahater: Not cows, least not here in the U.S. Its not good business practice to throw away perfectly good product (i.e. meat). For crocodiles they also use the meat. Elephants are for the ivory; leopards and cheetahs are for the fur. Non of those are strictly for the leather and the last three are because of poachers.
