"Mmmruha?" Orika muttered in her half woken state to Shinichi's edict. Something inside her protested and didn't want to be separated from her mum, but she was too tired to argue. The girl groggily looked to her left and right... noting with a sigh that Karite was alright, even looking a bit joyful in his dream. Good, she could save her first kill for much later. Hopefully, a lot, lot later. It was getting harder to concentrate so Orika flashed a smile at the world, at Karite, Shinichi-sensei, Shisei, and that pretty birdy the holes on the ceiling titles made. It seems Tenko had given her a sedative to help with the pain. Yaaaayyyy... The girl fell into a deep, soothing sleep, her conscious no longer bothered by the prospect of killing a friend. In her dreams, she and Karite ran through a field of wildflowers, chasing each other around and around. She did a cartwheel, but fell on her bum so he showed her how to flip and roll and do all sorts of cool tricks. Soon she was as agile as he was and they ran through the streets, thieving from the rich felons that stole from the common people. She would break into the criminal's houses and he would get the goods and lead them down the sewers, away from the cops who would mistake them for thieves. They even stole the pearls of wisdom from the evil shuriken-headed Shisei...

Kore lay still breathing much more calm then before. He would be fine it seemed, but so close to death? It would have a great effect on how the cub acted. He wonder how Karite was doing, in his mind all he could see was Karite. He was running and running. Yet no matter how fast the cub ran Karite never got any closer. It was to dark to see anything but then golden eyes showed forth in front of the cub. The golden eyes lit the darkness tenfold to any fire. The golden eyes of Baki. It was a sign that one day together Baki and Karite would become his pride leader and partner. It had to be, or at least that was what he wanted to believe. Yet the cub could hear Baki now. "Fight you are not reaady. Training you must do." If the cub survived the night he had a feeling he would be wishing he was dead in the long run. The next few months till graduation would lead Karite and himself into a lot of trouble and work. Starting with punishment for this incident.

Hell. It had to be. Somehow Karite must have hit Shisei in the head so hard that his head is bleeding on the farm floor while the boy’s soul no lay in Hades. To make things even worse the wild woman had to make a suggestion of them staying some place. Shisei wasn’t too sure of where they were going to be, but if it’s where the uncouth amazon stays, then it certainly was hell. The snake child wanted to reach over and the choke the animal skin wearer. Just why did she have to butt into this situation? All that should concern her are animals she loves so much. The Orochi did not let any of this become known to the public. His body simply gives a bow towards the commanding man who sentenced him to a life of misery. “Understood…” the snake youth mutters out before returning to a vertical position. He did not heed the brutal girl’s order of taking care of his peers. “Why should I do that? They’re the ones that did that to themselves.” He was irritated now and did not want to be bothered anymore. His form went to another room in the hospital and closing it behind him. He’d have to take up residence there for now. At least till Ero-sensei was gone. For now he’d comply, but no one could keep an eye on him twenty four seven. Could they? Well that was something that could be thought about tomorrow. For now Shisei looked out the window in the other room thinking about past times of when his sister was bed ridden. Those were such troublesome times….

[Exit to Next Day]

Satisfied with the punishment, Shinichi went and spent the night at the shoreline, where he shadow boxed with the ghost of Ichi all night.

Morning. Orika laid in her half awake, half waking state, wanting her dream to continue before she'd have to face the harsh reality. She may not have killed Karite, but they did beat each other up so badly. Darn it, she should have gone for Shisei! But the effect would have been the same. If she didn't feel bad for nearly killing Karite, she would be whining over Shisei's near death. Suddenly the prospect of possibly slipping into another dream wasn't so pleasant. Orika's eyes flew open and she moaned as soon as the pain hit her. With blurry eyes she look down at her poor legs and noted the cast and neat, clean bandages that lined from her knees to her ankles. She wouldn't be able to walk right for days! Orika's eyes landed on a set of crutches to her right and groaned again. She hated crutches! But she still had to train in the meanwhile or she'd fall behind the boys. The boys... The full implication of Shinichi's punishment struck her like a rock. She couldn't go anywhere without the two guys by her side. They were practically a squad! No, more like an arm or a leg that would do anything to get ahead. Orika examined Karite and sighed. They both had such mysterious pasts. Hopefully their time together for the next few years would clear up some of that fog. She wanted to relate to the two boys better. It wasn't like she really had a choice.

Orika pushed her blanket off her, gasping as the icy air hit her lungs. Didn't they have a fire in the clinic? Teeth chattering, Orika reached for her crutches and tried pushing herself off the bed. Her arms felt like jelly, especially after both the pull ups and fight! The girl tried desperately to lift herself off the bed using the crutches, but to no avail. She sighed and got back into bed when a thump sounded nearby. Karite! Orika turned her head and with a smile, replied, "I'm still here. Not like I could go anywhere else. Haha. How are you feeling, Karite?" While waiting for a reply, she tore off the pillow and blanket to give herself more room and used the crutches like oars in an attempt to get off this bed. But the crutches merely clattered to the ground once her fingers froze up. Orika cursed underneath her breath and knew she had to do this by sheer willpower alone. She gripped the edge of the bed and pulled and pulled and pulled, but she never got more than a few centimetres off. Darn it! She was too fat!

Karite felt his eyes flutter as he began to feel again. The air around him was not cold and the smell was sterile not natural at all. Letting his silver eyes open slightly he was greeted by a white light. He was groggy and he didn't know where he was. The last thing he remembered was trying to carry Orika. Then he was in the wave country...or at least he thought he was. Trying to sit up Karite felt an intense pain in his side. As if someone was splitting him in half. Looking down the best he could he noticed he was wrapped up. "That's what happened." Leaning over he looked and saw Kore. He looked worse than anyone. Feeling bad for his friend Karite grinned his teeth and slid from the bed he layed in. Putting his bare feet onto the cold floor. Trying to straighten up his body felt dizzy and he hit the floor soon after. Squinting his eyes to hold back tears of pain the young shinobi tried again to stand. He made it no where as he sat back in his bed and began to call out. "Hello, is anyone here?"

On that note, where was Shisei? He didn't ditch them before Day 1, did he?! She had to get up now to go find him and finish beating the crud out of that boy. Orika grinned to herself, imagining how much trouble she'd get in if any of them got hurt by her own hands. Then the smile subsided as she remembered stabbing Kore in the throat and then Karite twice later. No one would admit it, but those murderous strikes came with an ecstasy that she knew many shinobi craved, which was why they went on killing sprees without a heart. Killing was like a drug. The more she did it, the more tolerance she would build up and need to massacre even more people or do it way more brutally to satisfy herself. It was better to stay away from that path unless absolutely necessary. Haha! What wondrous words of wisdom that was... and yet she knew for sure that nothing could keep her away from a good fight, not Shinichi-sama certainly! Hopefully the next one would be less painful, though. When Orika thought of pain and how much it hurt to get of bed, she groaned and just sat there, shivering in her cozy bed.

Orika looked at Karite again and snickered with one hand over her mouth. He'd gotten out of bed so easily and yet had only hopped back in. People underestimated how much they needed their legs because they hindered even the activities that didn't need working legs! Orika bounced in her bed and hummed to herself while she waited for the motivation to strike that would enable her to summon all her strength to flop out of bed and land on the cold, hard linoleum. The farm girl reached over and chugged down a glass of water, whimpering when the ice struck her nose. She resorted to licking the frozen water to satisfy her thirst. Was it really that cold? Darn! Orika tried to curl herself in a ball to keep warm since she foolishly dropped her blankets to the floor, but her disabled legs prevented any movement. "This is so not fair!" she muttered aloud. Know what else wasn't fair? A shinobi teacher gave them weapons and expected them not to use them except to train. What fun was that? ... Was she really referring to murder as fun?! Orika, horrified, glanced down at her hands and saw Karite's blood dripping, the sticky red goo covering every inch and she could smell the blood and it stank so much and oh! She bit back a tear as her body shivered, not from the cold, but from knowing what would have happened if she had stabbed the boy a few inches to the right...

She couldn't stand it anymore! "K-karite?" Orika asked, putting on as strong a face as she could, "Are you mad at me for hurting you?" She could never tell what the guys were thinking, their expressionless faces giving nothing away. Shisei would never show her anything, but if she was lucky, Karite might spill a few thoughts of what he was thinking. She remembered that the boy was very poetic and sometimes lapsed into verses filled with symbols and imagery. What the heck was he? One person said thief, another orphan, the last a poet! But did those titles mean anything when the Karite she knew was right in front of her, difficult to figure out, but that was fun as well. Unlike Shisei, he didn't intentionally keep his past and identity a secret. Those things just weren't something one brought up in casual conversation. Orika contemplated these things while she slipped the ice out of the water glass and onto her lap. The girl took hold of the cylinder and rammed it against the table alongside her bed, again and again, until the ice cracked into itty bitty pieces she could stuff into her mouth. Orika popped a frozen fragment into her mouth and chewed happily.

As karite laid back down trying to let his ribs recuperate before giving it another shot. He looked over to Orika his green hair falling on the bridge of his nose. She seemed worried and as in much pain as she was he couldn't help but wonder why. "Orika, you cause me no more pain then my own journey of life has. To be mad with you would be like a fisherman being mad at the ocean for making waves." Karite smiled a little, with the pain in his body it was hard to even do that. "Fighting was something we are all going to have to get use to. Even if we fight with fist one of us would have ended up with a broken something. So you see little rose, I can not be mad at you for doing what we are all destined to do. My Uncle always use to say, "Fighting is the only peace I know, the pain of my body and the screams of my foes. It is the words I write with my blood. It is who I have become and one day if you fight long enough you will too. It is why you fight that is the question not if you should." I understand now what he meant." Karite looked up at the ceiling and wonder where the snake child had gone. Karite was surprised he was not here gloating of his victory. Turning back to Orika he asked, "I was out for most of the night, but I heard a lot of commotion last night. What was all that about? Do you remember? It sounded like the demon from class and I think Maya?"

Unknown to the rest of the inhabitants of the hospital Orohci Shisei had been one of the first people up. His form made a quick retreat last night to sleep after Ero-sensei had sent him to life of fleshy chains. He had decided to sleep. In the early hours of the morning where the night sky still dominated the child had snuck out to retain a few things from the abandoned Tenmoki branch. He retained Shiu’s and his bag of belongings as well as whatever snacks were left in the fridge. He also spent a half hour scrubbing off the graffiti from the door. Just in case his frame does not return anytime soon he needed to at least make sure the house stayed in good condition. If it wasn’t to be used for a long time. Ms. Yuki was distraught. Too distraught to return home. Aya, like Seshiro and Sachiriku, has become M.I.A and as to what will happen to little Ayumi, only Ero-sensei knew. The snake child could only make a mocking snicker to himself. Yes. What a happy family that turned out to be. Just like his last one, all divided and dispersed. The Orochi maverick should not have put much faith into that woman. In the end she was no different from anyone else.

The snake returned to the hospital quickly, not seeing anyone awake upon his return and hoped that the falling snow would erase all of his tracks. He took a half hours sleep before returning to reality. His brain had decided to absorb as much alone time he could get before serving his punishment. In doing so Shisei began to try and emit this thing that he now knew as chakra. To control his energy in such a way like yesterday was a new feeling to him. A feeling in which he had to train to make it stronger. That energy from within was key to learning jutsu and the serpent youth needed to master all jutsu. He placed one hand over the other, extending his fingers fully on one hand and making the ram seal. A very light blue color began to spread around the frame. It started below his feet spreading out like a small puddle and began to craw up the child’s body, wrapping around his form like three snakes. The energy was slowly crawling up his body. Passed his ankles and up to his thighs. The snake youth was happy with the process. He had been practicing an hour before and finally the fruits of his work were beginning to be seen.

His ears picked up movement outside from his two ball and chains. They were finally awake. Actually a bit surprising. He would have expected them to be out for a longer time considering there wounds, but the two were determined. The snake child would admit that much. His mind decided to let the pair have their time to apologize and such while he gets his last few minutes of freedom. The snake child continued to focus his chakra to engulf his body.

Moving Chakra
A good ninjutsu user needs to draw and mold chakra for use in a split second. Do you know that tingly feeling you get when your chakra is concentrated? See if you can move your charged chakra throughout your body without losing your hold on it. You know you've mastered this exercise when your entire body is tingling.

Karite was contemplating what could possibly be going on in the next room. That same funny feeling from before was back. Chakta or whatever it was called. Orika wasn't doing it and neither was he. Kore was knocked out so it couldn't be him so that only left Shisei. So the snake child was here and training to get stronger. "I think Shisei is still here. I can feel that some energy from class yesterday." Karite knew the snake boy couldn't resist trying to get better I bet yesterday was a wake up for him. Seeing how well another could fight. While Karite learned much as well. He had natural talent with a staff and in combat. Now only thing left to do was improve upon his skills and having the freedom of the grounds and a good friend by his side nothing could stop him.

A young cub that almost died before his first birthday laid across a table. Groggily stirring the cub managed to open now what seemed like heavy lead eyelids. His golden eyes looked out onto the white surface of the room. So clean and so disgusting, the strong smell of alcohol and blood lingered. This place was not his home and was not where he wanted to be, but trying to stand would prove useless for now. Looking around the cub noticed Karite the two fight well but not like Maya and Baki. They were not unstoppable titans like they were. They had failed each other, Karite was bandaged up pretty good but then again so was he. Practice is what they both needed.

The farm girl grinned as she listened to Karite, her spirits rising with every one of his poetic words. "I'm glad," she said, taking a moment to reflect on Karite's version of fighting. The girl pushed herself to the edge of the bed and bounced on the mattress to propel herself forwards, as painful as the shock waves made her legs feel, until she couldn't stand it any long and stopped. But, look, she was a lot closer! Yeah! Orika continued bouncing like the bunny everyone saw her as until she was so close to the edge she could practically fall off. Her legs ached like someone had... well... cut them with kunai and then a lion's claws. Orika gritted her teeth, willing the pain to get out of her system just until she could get on those darn crutches. She reached and reached until her fingers tipped a crutch towards her. With a happy shriek and glad expression, Orika pulled herself to her feet, then bent to pick up the other one. Yahoo! She limped around to face Karite and smiling warmly, responded, with a blush creeping to her face. "Little rose? You mean the kind with thorns and poison, right?" Orika laughed, "I'm not sure I'd describe fighting as peaceful, but there's a thrill in it that can't be beat, of defeating your opponent and hitting him again and again until he stops moving. I wonder if that's human nature to feel that way 'cause otherwise, we'd never get into fights. For now, I fight because it's good training and kinda fun. But, uh, let's not try to kill each other again anytime soon, ne?" She limped around the room, her crutches clacking on the linoleum. Within seconds, her bare right foot started to get numb. Orika completed a round and stopped in front of Karite's bed with a deep thinking look on her tanned face, "Hey, Karite. You said you understood what your uncle said. So, why do you fight? Especially last night?" She set the crutches against a wall and lowered herself onto the green haired boy's bed. "Oh, yeah. Shinichi-sama took our weapons. Now we have to stick together everywhere, Shisei, me, and you. Like, no one can be seen without the other two anywhere! It's so not fair! We'll also be living at the Tategami place so Maya can keep watch. Can you believe that?" Orika puffed a lock of hair that had crept over her eyes and grimaced when she talked about their punishment.

Karite listened to the very energetic girl. As she rounded her way around the room he smiled. She was always so cheery, it made him wonder if her past was as dark as his or Shisei's? She spoke about his reason to fight, it was odd but before he reason was to protect, but now it was just for peace of mind. His past nor future seemed important when fighting. All that matter was how hard he could push his body. Right now it seemed like he needed some work on pushing his body harder. "I fight for peace of mind. That's all I can tell you for now. Maybe one day I can explain more but for now that is all." As Orika sat down on his bed Karite grinned his teeth as he sat up to give her some more space. Listening to her continue he heard his punishment and was upset his weapons were taken, but glad Kore was still in his care. A bad turn for them both but the cards were still in play. "It will not be that bad Orika. I have spent time on the grounds it is quite nice and plenty of space to train. Maya has some rough edges but she is a good person and very caring for her family. Give it time and we will be the best shinobi ever to graduate from the academy. Working with Shisei might be harder than living with a group of lions. I don't think he understands yet that he is not the only one with problems on this island and being shut off from the rest of the world is not going to solve anything. He reminds me a lot of Maya actually. Maybe she can reason with him better than my fist. I am however a little upset that I wont get to keep my Jo. It was a lot of work to get it in the first place. I guess I can work on other things like that stupid jutsu thingy we were learning in class. Or I can explore the island. Yeah, maybe I will find a nice secluded spot to train. Besides we get to spend more time with each other it will be fine. We have no weapons to kill each other with although I have a feeling I might choke Shisei if he keeps up his superior ego trip he is on right now." Looking at his closest friend on the island Karite felt sorry for what he put the cub through. "I just hope Kore is going to be fine."

"I'm holding you to your word!" Orika giggled at the mystery surrounding Karite's reason to fight. He never promised anything, but she would like to know someday. It obviously was something really cool or else he'd just tell it right now. Although, the fact that he mentioned wanting peace revealed a lot about the boy. Orika now knew that Karite was troubled, either by his past or his relationship with Kore or something else entirely. Where did he come from, by the way? She was thinking of sneaking into the Kage's office to find out more, but that would incur Shinichi's wrath, both at trespassing and at leaving the other two behind. It was better to be patient. Aw... Orika flashed a V sign for victory and replied to Karite, "I'm glad you like it! I'll probably like it too, but Shisei's so used to being in that huge Tenmoki house that he'll hate having to live in a tent. It sounds so much fun! Eh, but its winter and cold. Yuck." The girl stuck out her tongue, wondering how they were supposed to stay warm. The times she had seen Maya and Shuga last through the winter was when they were at their grouchiest. Oh, man! Did that mean that she was going to be mean and grouchy and sleepy and lazy like a lion in wintertime too? No way! She'd train her butt off to keep up with the boys.
