Joan inhaled sharply through her nose, supressing a gasp. The nurse apologized, thinking that the breath was a sign of pain. It was really because of the Major's words. They might be looking for assassins like herself once they got the information they needed.

"Not much help..., Admiral Jackson is dead, he was at the front earlier today and was shot in the head." Isha said," is there anything else you can tell me?"

"Well, they have been able to reform a gattling gun with old technology, but it is still in its prototyping and isnt ready to fire..."

"thats more like it," Isha said," and what do you want in return for this information, you won't be able to serve in the army for a while so they are planning to transport you to the city nearby but anything other than that can be done."

Merlyn was writing all of this down. She raised her eyebrows at the words "Gattling Gun" but held her tounge. She nodded while writing, keeping her mouth shut. She wrote, dipped her pen, then wrote more.

Isha had noticed Merlyn's raised eyebrow and when he heard what Mathius said he became more suspicious," two years,... then how would you have known the recent location of the deceased admiral or about this new miraculous gun?" he asked.

Angelusia narrowly escaped the now resticted hospital area and slipped down the street. "That was way too close!" She sighed in relief. She continued to head towards her home and avoided all officers along the way.

"Well, like you said, I did not know the admiral died...I had not seen the date until I walked into this tent...and at the time I left, the gun was just staring blueprints, so I would guess that it is still unoperational..."

"okay well i'll leave you to captain Merlyn then," Isha turned to Merlyn," his story is questionable so get a soldier to keep watch on him and don't allow him his weapons back just yet." Isha turned and was about to exit the tent when the colonel came in.
"Ahhh, Major im glad I found you here," the colonel said. Isha grimaced.
"yes sir, what do you need." Isha said respectfully.
"actually you'll need to put the captain's testing on hold for a day or two, the police in the city need help recruiting nurses for the medical units..." the colonel said,"they asked for a good people person." he patted Isha on the shoulder.
And he thinks thats me???, Isha thought,"of course sir that would be a nice break," he said.
"good you'll be leaving in an hour, don't worry about your things they'll be transported with the captain tommorrow morning." the colonel said before leaving.
Isha gave Merlyn the new orders and in the next hour was sat in a car headed for the city.

Angelusia arrived home and checked for her mail. "Bill, bill, bill..." She shifted through the stack of papers when one caught her attention. "Draft information?" She opened the letter to see that she was one of several nurses being drafted in to the war. "But I can't go!" She shouted, "I don't even know what I would have to do!"

Merlyn nodded. She turned and smiled at Mathius. "The thing is," she whispered, "that I will do my part in this war, even the lower ranks' duties." She sat back, leaned her chair, and spat. "Soo...a Gattling gun, eh? First designed durring the first Civil WAr of America in the 1860's," she said.
