'You better get me some damn good books.' Marie grumbled, finishing the caviar. She got up from the stools, falling onto her feet, and stumbling slightly. She walked out of the kitchen, after glaring at the laughing cook, and began walking to her room, positioned across the hall from Edward's.

Demeria couldn't help but smile at Lord Edward. "Thank you." she said, her voice still tainted with a hum. She laid back on the bed, she often napped in his bed even though she had her own. she liked how it smelled, she couldn't help it.

"Indeed, I believe I've been holding out on you anyways." Edwards said, all of a sudden behind Marie and walking with her. Vampiric speed, wasn't it glorious? 'Lila. I have another task for you to handle.' He thought to her, she was probably off doing god knows what and scaring little children.
'I'm your personal messenger now aren't I?'
'Yes.'
'hmph.'

"I've lived with you for two years and I still haven't gotten used to that..." She let her mind wander, hoping slightly that Edward wouldn't pay attention. She wondered quietly why he chose HER a street rat, instead of someone else. Probably pity, she had lived off pity for years, but pity from a friend felt bad. She felt her stomach sink, and she felt horrid.

Demetria yawned a little bit as sleep quickly took over. She was curled up in a ball, her head on the pillow. Her eyelids drooped as she stared across the room. 'Demetria, I need you.' A voice said in her head. She graoned a bit, not wanting to sleep now, but it ws too late for that.

Edward grinned, Maire's reactions were always fun. 'I can feel your happy vibes, stop it, it makes me tingly.' Lila's thought came to him, being distracted by his animal servant still didn't stop him from feeling Maire's own sad vibes though, and he frowned. 'Wow, didn't actually think you'd do it...' Came Lila once again, but Edward ignored her a moment to question Maire. "Maire, I can feel that, what's wrong?" He asked, no one should be upset for any reason if they were in his care, that included Maire, of not especially Maire.

"Why did you pick me?" She asked, quietly. "I mean... I'm a street rat..." She avoided his eyes, not wanting to see what might be in them. She tugged at her fingers restlessly, and shifted her weight from foot to foot. She half wanted to know, half of her wanted him to make up an answer. Wait, did she even know what she wanted?

That was a hard question to answer, even with it not being to overly complex. Edward sighed, he still had to send someone to his chambers to help Demetria, so he grabbed the nearest servant that was passing by, told them what they had to be doing now and turned back to Maire. It was still hard to answer even with that split second more to think. "Maire, not just anyone would do. You might have fallen on hard times, but you're no street rat." He said, truly meaning everything he said.

Marie smiled and looked at him, happiness bubbling up. She resisted the urge to jump up and hug him. She would run to the kitchen and eat that yucky caviar! She was happy! She hugged him tightly, then let go.
"I'm glad." She said, beaming. He was like those guys in the books she read, the ones who eventually became like a brother to you. She was overjoyed, she had a family! A small family, but a family all the same.

'Aw crap, now I can feel all the happy again.' Lila groaned in his head, she was a very depressing snake. Edward just smiled, happy that everyone else was happy. The hug had been a bit unexpected, but Maire herself was that way too, so he didn't mind. "Then I am glad as well," he said, "But I must go be glad somewhere else now. I'll see you later." He nodded, patting Maire on the shoulder as he turned back down they way they had come.

Marie went to her room, filled with glee. She resisted the urge to skip and chant, 'I have a family!' until the other servants called the insane asylum, and did so successfully. She quickly changed out of her nightclothes, and put on something warm. She grabbed a notebook, and headed back to the library to make a list of what books they needed... and maybe write a story, either one was fine.

'About that task master...?' Lila questioned, even with all her grumbling she really did like helping him with things. Edward chuckled, he could still feel all of Maire's bubbling happiness even from here, Lila was being just so obedient and she was already back in the castle and under foot again. She slithered by following Edward as he walked, it was a wonder he didn't step on her, but even then it probably wouldn't have affected her. "Yes, but now it's different from the first one I had in mind." Edward answered, waiting for her to ask what it was before he told her what it was.
'...Why do I always have to ask?' She grumbled at first, narrowly escaping Edward's foot as he turned a corner. 'Fine. What is this new task Master?' She asked after a brief pause.
"Watch over Maire, she seems out of sorts today."

Nova sighed as she walked home, the sun rising behind her. She opened the door to the home she was renting a room in. Her landlord didn't bother her much, not having much of a night life like her. He was up during the day; she, during the night. Laying down, she rolled over, ready for another difficult day of sleep.

Marie grabbed a few books off the shelves, and sat down at on of the extremely long and tall tables. She wondered about why the tables were taller than she was, it was pretty comical seeing her struggle to get into the chairs, and set the books on the table. She sat down, or up... and began reading. It was a book she hadn't read in a while, and she'd forgotten what happened around the middle.

Lila had sighed, but did as told and found Marie in her usual spot in the library. Slithering over to her and up to the table top wasn't so hard, the table had been specially made with ramps engraved in the sides just so she could get up. So she all but sat there and looked dead while she waited to be noticed. She couldn't very well rattle her tail like a rattle snake could have so she was pretty quiet.
