{Ah, sorry about that. She was just wondering about what Koda would do and one of the options that she thought of was being attacked.x.x}
Yakira nodded slowly and kept her face clear of any emotion, "Aye." She walked into the cave without a glance back and peered around curious. 'Shouldn't be though...' Her heart seemed to drop and she sighed quietly to herself, 'They probably don't want anything to do with me either, but that is my fault after all...somewhat or alot.' Thinking about the scene in the air made her grimace. Looking around she spotted the fire like feathers of Kit and she suddenly brightened at the possibility of asking Kit about the centaur. But her gaze dropped as she saw him with another male. 'He probably forgot about me already.' Yakira slowly sank down against the wall listening to the wind whistling outside.

Kalpana watched the conversation from Koda and the new female but didn't really understand it. Knowing it wasn't really for her concern, she leaned her head out of the cave. The cold air wipped through her hair and hit her facea as she looked at the storm starting to form. Her aqua teal eyes where searching for almost anything, though she didn't care what she was looking for, she was just, well looking.
As she stared out into the wilderness before the cave, she became virtually oblivious to everything around her. Her tail twitched as she cold air was starting to get to her, but she didn't care. truth be told, if the winds weren't going ot turn into a giant storm, then she'd probably be flying out there in the cold, happy as can be. But, the storm was coming and she wasn't really all that happy to begin with.

"It's alright lad," Makani offered, giving Kitrio a small pat on the back. "You've obviously not been living among us, so it's understandable that you wouldn't know, but it'd be a wise thing to remember in the future. So tell me, are you going to come back and at least see the colony? No one will make you stay, but you could get to know your own kind a little bit better."
Iris, who was still watching Yakira warily, roused herself from her position huddled against the wall. If Koda wanted a second opinion, she would be glad to offer her support to the younger female's decision. They didn't need troublemakers. At least not that sort. And if others wanted to join, well, polite requests for acceptance were one thing, insults and interference was something entirely different.

((Right, thanks for the clarification!))
Koda looked to Iris wearily, "We'll be going home tomorrow, an entire week before planned. Mother will want details. She thinks I'm ready for this but I'm not. How does she handle it when she errs? I can't remember the last time I heard her apologize or voice a doubt even before her own Ladies!" Her voiced was hushed, she understood the need for a show of confidence before the flock. Iris was another matter entirely. There was an unspoken assumption that the bright woman would one day be one of Koda's Ladies. "A decision after consideration is one thing, but it's not always that easy..."

"Whether you're ready or not Koda, this is your duty." Her own voice was hushed. There was no need to let this conversation carry. "When your mother makes a mistake, she simply corrects it and moves on. If that's not possible, she does what she can. Worrying about things you can't change only wastes time and energy. Just tell your mother the truth." The brightly colored female shrugged lightly. "She has no reason to be angry at you. In fact, I believe that in light of these events, she would have done the same thing. Of course, if you don't feel comfortable abandoning the expedition, I could take a message back to her, and I could take Kitrio and the new female back on our own while you stay here with the girls. And Makani might be useful in helping Kit feel more comfortable among us, which would be one less stress for you to deal with."

"Oh, err..." Kitrio glanced around some. He did want to get to know his own kind better, and to clear up any misunderstandings that had occurred so far if he could. He noticed Kira making her way to a spot alone but didn't want to further estrange himself from everyone else by singling her out. He turned his attention back to Makani. "Yes, I will be going back to meet the others and... Mother." He'd had to take a moment to recall what the lead female was called. At least, he assumed she was their leader. Was the head male called Father, he wondered?

"You can just call her The Matriarch lad. Or The Mother. Koda calls her Mother because she's the Matriarch's daughter. Otherwise it's not nessecary to call her such unless you're speaking to her face." It seemed that he was going to have to give Kitrio a crash course in Harpy culture. Just his luck that he was stuck with a clueless outsider. Ah well. At least the boy was free of Koda and Iris's talons this way. "Her given name, however, is Kendra. It's a good bit to explain, but if you've any questions, feel free to ask."

Kit knew he'd feel more comfortable with Matriarch than Mother, it just felt like he'd be... offending Azure. "Thank you, Makani. I'm sure there are more interesting things to do than teach me things that are common knowledge to... anyone else." He grinned and then gave a shrug. "And rather than waist our time with me popping to irrelevant topics, how 'bout we begin with whatever is the most important?" He tried to figure out what that might be. "Um... I mean, is there anything else I should know when dealing with... Kendra?"

"Better teaching you than listening to them," he nodded his head towards the various chattering females, "babble on about this, that, or whatever. As for dealing with the Matriarch, well, don't let her intimidate you, number one. Kendra can be a little...forceful on occaision. Number two, be respectful. Being that you're not from a colony, she'll understand a mistake or two, so long as you're polite." The brightly colored harpy ruffled his feathers a bit. If you asked him, the Matriarch, though a capable leader, was also a bossy gossip. Of course, such opinions were not to be voiced. At least not where they would be overheard by certain ears.

Kit glanced across the gathered chatting girls. He didn't think they were so bad, but then he'd only met them today. And some can be rather uppity, he thought as he noticed Iris. Would it be a bad thing to get up and talk to Kira? Makani was helpful and all, but he still felt that initial connection with the nearly-white harpie. Probably because he'd shared something he felt rather secretive about.
He put his mind back to important matter. He didn't feel he'd have trouble meeting the Matriarch, but there were other do's and don't's he'd need for general interaction. "So,among the women there's a hierarchy... of sorts. Does this apply to the men too?"

"Not particularly," Makani replied with a small shrug. "There are of course males that are favored due to coloration, health, or a few other reasons, but for the most part all that is expected of us is to provide the colony with eggs. In return for those services, we're fed, tended to, and given gifts if we're especially favored. We're generally allowed to do whatever pleases us."

Kit couldn't help but look down at himself. "Color?" He also looked at Makani, unable to keep himself form making comparisons. Which would be better? And if there were other variables, well it wasn't likely he'd know his place right away then. Ah, but there are fewer males anyway. While that idea would take getting used to, male hierarchy actually didn't seem so important anymore. Especially if they just got to do as they pleased.
"Well, is there any other way to reciprocate all this feeding and gift giving besides..." and his voice got smaller, as though afraid the word would suddenly send the young girls into a flurry of excitement, "...eggs?"

Faria's muscles felt quite a bit better having been warmed by the fire, but she still felt a tense knot in her shoulders. She rose and muttered a soft "Excuse me please," and moved to an area a little ways from the majority to stretch. She extended her dark wings forward then pulled them close as she arched her back to relieve her minor ache. Faria shook her self with a sigh feeling some of the tense fade away. She hoped that the Matriarch would allow her to stay. The members of the colony that she had met thus far all seemed to be decent.

"The more vibrant the color, the healthier the harpy," Makani explained, leading his new-found charge away from the majority of the females to where no one could really pester them, except perhaps Faria, if she chose to make conversation. "As for ways to reciprocate, well, I suppose Kendra could come up with something, but there are so few of us that really, eggs are what's expected." He shrugged. "If we want to survive as a species, it's what's needed."

This would all take some getting used to. Kit wondered if this was something he even wanted to get used to. He dutifully followed as Makani led him to a slightly more secluded spot. He rubbed at his jaw a bit, easing the urge to yawn. How late was it anyway? With the snow thick enough to blot out whatever sunlight there might be outside, he had no way to know. All this talk of obligation was wearing on him, it seemed no matter where his questions led, there was always going to be that nagging reminder of eggs, eggs, eggs. "I don't suppose we could do some of that eating now," he said.
